Clueless dev team. Game is still an active beta. Do not recommend. The devs either don't play their own game, or simply want to drive it into the ground. Not sure which. Maybe both. Probably both.

Total disappointment. Beta felt fun to play, now it has become an endless nerf spiral.
Blizzard "balances" around some pro players who beat the hardest content and don't care they ruin it all for 99.99% of their customers.
Most quality of live features from D3 were ditched. Mechanics are a total bloat fest of way too many damage types, most of them useless (and useful ones get nerfed).

    Drops are garbage.
Leveling up makes you weaker instead of stronger.
    End game is boring.
Lack of stash space is ridiculous.

Release a halfway, albeit incomplete game to rack up decent reviews, then release macrotransactions and time wasters to keep that cash flowing in.
Do yourself a favor and play D2 or D3.

I paid $70 to beta test this dumpster fire for them to totally figure out a way to completely screw the game over before the launch of season 1. I said I wouldn't buy this game for 60 days because Blizzard is so notorious for the old bait and switch within 60 days. I should've listened to my gut....

There is no reason to play after the campaign, world feels empty with little to do expect grind out the same repetitive dungeons. Cooldowns feel way too long for an action game and the resource meter restricts this even further, this game was clearly not ready to be released and the seasonal patch completely gutted most classes on eternal realm.

Cool/gritty graphics, but no gameplay content. Monsters (stuff we like to kill in a ARPG) are far and few between.
Itemization just suck. Too much crap to sell/salvage.
Different dungeons felt the same. Same mechanics, same bosses, alot of reused content. Boring. Mini-quests are just boring. Lots of QoL missing. No inventory management, no group finding, etc. Lots of undodgeable

Loot drops are trash, affixes and enchanting is trash. The cost to enchant is ridiculous. This game is like a full time job and the constant crowd control even after the nerf is ridiculous. They should have marketed this as a coma simulator as most of your time in later dungeons will be spent

Literally I have never played a game so frustrating and annoying as this. If i wanted these levels of stress id get remarried. This game legit makes me rage in its tedium, bugs and random number failures. These developers and managers should be ashamed at what they've done to the blizzard name. I will NEVER purchase another blizzard game after this. You have no idea what fun is and count on a generation of simpering children who are used to trash unfinished web games feeling like the graphics and story are just super and paying with mommy's credit cards for a subpar game.

If there's any justice and a hell i hope everyone involved with this game spends eternity playing the late game grind in the levels they designed calimg to be fun.

I hope that in a year or two Diablo 4 is at least as good as Diablo 3. The final season of Diablo 3 really hyped me up -- they added a bunch of quality of life things that the player base had wanted for a long time and I felt very optimistic that Diablo 4 would be the best Diablo game yet. The reality is, the lack of stash space makes it impossible to play multiple classes and makes getting loot a bad thing when that's supposed to be a fun part of the game, WE CAN'T EVEN SAVE BUILDS, and they keep nerfing the game and making it even more grindy and boring. Don't buy it, wait until they hopefully improve the game instead of continuing to burn it to the ground. Expand

And then begin to hoard yellow items for the new build, and try to make space in the crowded chest and mule characters…

I feel I really can’t keep up with the changes… I’m just a casual player who wants to enjoy deleting mobs and get fancy gear, not having to constantly watch pro videos and build guides, and change builds…

I’m not sure how many balance patches are there already, probably 4 or more in a little more than a month. Now I just feel too tired to create a new character and follow a new build…Why can’t blizzard just let God builds be Gods, and change it in the next season???

ActiBlizz continues to spit in the faces of consumers. They use a nostalgic name to gut those of their time and money. There are plenty of ways you can defend this game, but the negatives far out weigh the positives. Constant added time sinks so they can bolster play time hours just to pad their own pockets. It has mechanics too complex and enemies too tough for a truly casual experience but the build diversity and underlying mechanics are too shallow for anyone interested in builds and number crunching.

The endgame barely exists. Its hundreds of hour of grinding the same old procedurally generated content with no thought or variety. By around level 70 on your first character you've seen absolutely everything the game has to offer and that's barely a third of the way to maxing your first character.

I'm a Diablo fan. I saw all the early issues with the game but still trusted the company due to my D2 and D3 experience. I even bought a 2nd copy because the D4 stash is too small even after I created mules - I wanted to play 3 different classes and there's no way the stash plus all the rest mules is enough.

But the recent patch 1.1 gave me the wakening call that the team running this game will never fix it, nor making it good. Because what they think the game should be is totally different from the user base. The addressed 0 issues raised by the user base, including stash space, resistance doesn't work, sorc unplayable end game because all the mobs can one-shot you. etc. etc. Sorc was a powerful class in Beta which caps at lv 25, so they simply nerfed the popular skill Hydra by 60%, and a few others skills which can reduce cool down. The user base complained. Sorc could only run the frost build. Devs in the fireside chat said they listened, and they had this long list of patch note prepared. Everyone was looking forward to the patch note, everyone assumed sorc can be fixed. Ha! Can you imagine they nerf sorc, and especially hydra even more? They didn't mention this in the patch notes, but they changed the lucky hit rate of hydra from 53% (cast based) to 2.5% (hit based). Ice blade 71% to 5%. Yes it's a huge nerf because the conj stills won't hit that many times (especially ice blade, so clumsy).

They nerfed all classes. Why, why??? Because they don't have other ways to engage players. Instead they make it harder to pass the game, so we are forced to stay longer, and they may make money in this.

Or, perhaps they've already got our money, and they just choose the most annoying changes so we don't stay, no pressure to their server, and they can use the money to develop WoW - btw the D4 feels like WoW which I don't like.

You won't find the Diablo game you like in D4. It's frustrating, repetitive, and I don't feel their team has good decision makers. It's unbelievable they'd do this unless, really, they want to push us away so their server maintenance cost is lower.

One of the first major red flags was the devs completely disabling certain aspects because, ultimately, the game is just severely unfinished and most definitely untested. These actions made certain characters unplayable. That was over a month ago, and it's been a worsening **** show since.

There is no possible way this game was worked on consistently for 10 years and probably not even 5.

I played Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, and now Diablo 4. I have to say, coming from a long history of playing the Diablo series, blizzard has literally crucified Diablo 4. When they dropped this current patch on the 18th of July, it just totally destroyed the game completely. At the current state of Diablo IV after this patch, any game out there is better than Diablo 4....

Very Grindy, unrewarding game with boring items and builds. Blizz killed what little fun there was before the first season by slowing down skills, gameplay, and experience so that they could artificially keep players logged in and driven toward their seasonal microtransaction journey. For me it's hard to understand how blizzard with all their experience can completely go away from the successful game design of D2 and basically just produce a well shaped copy of D3. But to be honest D3 was more fun... It had endgame... To be fair D3 was horrible at the beginning, but does blizzard realy have to do all the old mistakes again? Why the hell... WHY they didnt took something of the itemisationssystem from D2? It kept D2 living for almost 20 years. It did prove itself...
Apart from itemisation and lack of lategame, this game feels lonly as **** Can you believe that there is no LFG funktion?? not even a global chatlobby... the only way to chat global is the tradechannel, which nobody uses because trading in this game is trash!!! not even professional goldsellers are using the trade channel XD.
Next is the class balancing. ITS a joke... the differences between the classes regarding content clearing are huge.
The only good thing about the game was the Story. but that ends latest with lvl 50. Then you have a senseless boring grind in front of you, which most likely won't be rewarding at all from lvl 80 on.
And it is not that D4 has a toxic fanbase or anything... Content creators and gamers in general did spent a lot of time to give qualitiy feedback. There was not a lack of interest from the communitiy towards game development and blizzard got a lot of input. But what they are doing with it??? Seems like they pretend to take is serious just to throw it right into the dumpster before patch release.
I Cannot recommend anybody to buy that game.... Should have given 1-2/10 points because the early game was fun but i rearly want to push the score as low as possible.

Preordered ultimate and waited for months until beta came out and was very hyped because it seemed fun and „fresh”. The only thing I said was I hope they dont mess up the endgame. I was right because there is no end game to mess up. I dont even know where to begin. Meaningless time consuming grind with no reward behind it. Absolutely no end game, no incentive to keep playing past 70. No set items, no storage, no party finder, no leaderboards, terrible item system. NO TRADING??? Whats the reason behind strongholds ? Regrinding renown is a joke. Why are blue and white items in the game ? Terrible cosmetics. Everything is structured around milking players out of money - terrible seasons system. Since they tried so hard to turn it into a soft mmo its missing everything that would make it any good. Just for example, arena pvp with seasonal cosmetic rewards would fix endgame problems as it would actually give players a reason to grind to 100 to climb pvp leaderboards for rewards. Maybe clan wars since its open pvp ? Or clan battles to take over strongholds (clans keep them for a week and get rewards for it) LITERALLY ANYTHING that would want players to actually compete or interact in any way. But nope that would be too good to be true. Also my grinded renown didnt transfer to season 1. I play HC and died on my rogue at 82, made a new character - got to 82 also. Now comes season 1, for some reason blizzard employees didnt know how to write code so they made it so you have to log in with a character that has everything unlocked. But my rogue died at 82 and my new character doesnt have altars or renown grinded because i refuse to grind it again so now im forced to grind them all over again. My choices are either stick to eternal realm and dont play season ( i got ultimate so i have season pass) because i have the renown and altars there OR play s1 without anything unlocked. Im forced to quit because im not grinding everything again. Im a father and I run a business and it took me a week to get all altars. I will never buy a blizzard game again. Fail dev team Expand

The absolute core of the game is great - the graphics (both the pixels themselves and overall art direction) are fantastic for an isometric ARPG, the sound design is splendid (extremely atmospheric music, most sound effects have weighty punch), most abilities feel good to use (ignoring how resource-starved most specs are, just the feel of each button press).

*HOWEVER*, even before this disastrous patch leading into the first season, Diablo 4 has a litany of issues. Endgame content is severely lacking. Dungeon design is terrible, with far-too-frequent backtracking and dead periods. Enemy density is poor at all levels, and I essentially never felt I was fighting enough monsters. The content all felt far, far too easy, including absurdly simply boss encounters, until you scale endgame nightmare dungeons up to the point where ranged enemies risk one-shotting squishy characters, which promotes gameplay where you just blast them in a second during CC before they kill you back. And Path of Exile already made (and couldn't figure out how to solve) that mistake. Speaking of squishy, need I bring up that the resistance stat, which necromancers and ESPECIALLY sorcerers primarily use, basically doesn't work? You could add a zero to how much mitigation it provides, and it would still be off by another factor of 5-10, it's really that bad. And Blizzard's solution can't come until... at least Season 2.

There are more problems. Stash storage space is a joke, and I've heard basically nothing about fixes, such as being able to shift the aspect system completely into the game's codex, which would solve the issue almost entirely on its own. As it stands, I didn't even make a single alt during the game's launch because I had no room. While I absolutely didn't need the aspects I was holding onto, such as perfect rolls for skills that are currently bad and not worth using, why should I have to scrap those types of things and have to refarm them in the future if they become worth using?

Any announced fixes take multiple seasons to go live. Blizzard has acknowledged at least SOME community problems, and fixes might not be coming until Season 2 or later. So many months post-launch. That's not just a lack of agility, that's a company with a complete inability to operate a game in 2023. I believe the issues are with getting the okay to push things live for consoles, which have a cert process, and if so - DON'T LAUNCH A GAME IN SUCH A PISS-POOR STATE THAT YOU CAN'T RESPOND TO PROBLEMS.

This was the game before the seasonal patch, which proceeded to make things worse. Basically anything you could think of got worse. Cooldown reduction, worse. The good DPS stats, worse. The worst spec at 80+ (Sorcerers)? Nerfed, more than the other specs! Fun! Stash problems? Made even worse because the season mechanic adds more stuff you have to store. Leveling speed? Slower. Armor, a necessary stat with resistances not working? Reduced. Damage reduction? Reduced. Were fun endgame activities added to spice up the gameplay with even a LITTLE variety? Nope. Can't be bothered with that. The same barely-populated dungeons with the same repeating indoor tilesets with the same "go find two buttons/levers and then backtrack because eff you and your enjoyment" design.

I'm scoring this as a 1 just to avoid a possible sweep of all the 0s the game is currently receiving, but this is about as disappointed I've been in a game in a very, very long time. They had 10 years to work on this since Diablo 3 launched. And in that time they made the skeleton of a game, did a half-assed job balancing it, and decided to toss it out there so people could start paying them for battlepasses ASAP even though this is clearly in an early beta stage with content missing. Path of Exile has a huge list of 'seasonal' (league) mechanics that have been folded into the core gameplay loop, which are all playable in ADDITION to whatever mechanic is added to the current 'season' (league). Some are much more elaborate than others, even after being simplified as part of implementing them as a core aspect of gameplay, but there are all separate league mechanics: Expedition, Ritual, Heist, Delirium, Harvest, Blight, Betrayal, Legion, Breach, Bestiary, Delve, Harbinger, Beyond, Abyss, Incursion, Rogue Exiles, Strongboxes, Metamorph, Vaal maps, Torment. A few are *very* minor (Rogue Exiles, Torment), or don't represent much in the way of gameplay without using a separate talent tree to push their rewards (Rogue Exiles, Strongboxes), but others are very involved, including my favorite, Expedition. Yes, Path of Exile had many years to gain these and implement them one by one, but that's an indie studio that slowly grew the game (and its playerbase), not a behemoth like Activision/Blizzard. We didn't even get a tiny FRACTION of that sort of stuff in Diablo 4, and it really, really shows. My disappointment is immeasurable, and I only hope the game is fixed by 2025-2026.

They just randomly adjust some parameters and release a new version.

Beta Necromancer Corpse Explosion: I don't think you need to play until level 10, not even level 20. Basically, once you activate the skill and use it once, you can tell it's overpowered.

Result: Once it went live, players immediately found it powerful and they immediately nerfed it? Seriously, if they had played and tested it properly, how could they not know?

Drop rate reduced in Wave mode: You can't even collect 50 items in 20 minutes.

Result: And then they get called out for it and claim it's a bug? Seriously, if they had played and tested it properly, it would only take 5 minutes to see if there's a problem. Just a normal trip between two points in the village would be enough to notice, even with occasional detours, it should take no more than 10 minutes to collect 175 items. I'm not even that fast, there are definitely people who have faster methods.

The above perfectly proves that they didn't test it properly, just randomly adjusted parameters and released a new version! How else could they not notice?

For a game company of this size, is this the attitude and approach they take towards game development?

With this kind of behavior, it's truly absurd and reflects a lack of intelligence and competence.

Ignoring the fact that its extremely expensive to try and get the perfect rolls and gear and to just have it destroyed because you aren't playing the game their way is unacceptable. Ps: This one's for the Sorcerer class. Expand

Literally. The worst gaming company I've ever seen. Good job ruining Diablo 4 with that latest patch. Joke of a game. Joke of a company.

Patch 1.1 ruins all the loots you got, wastes your time to rebuild your skill / paragon if your class still has a visual build (not for barbarian and sorceress). It just simple denied all your play time rewards and tells you get over with it. Good job Blizzard.

The devs continue to nerf players into the ground without respite. They then have the gall to make items that are worthless some of the most rare in the game that do not relate to endgame builds. Have they ever played Diablo?

Diablo 4 has been terrible from the start, so many things broken and unfixed since the beta and now they break even more things and made the game just overall worse with the new patch. Can't believe i paid money for this garbage

Horrible game, worst 70 bucks I ever spent. I feel like I was scammed into buying this, but alas, it was just my own stupidity in actually thinking they could make a decent game.

Season 1 patch ruined the game even further for sorcerers... Thanks for nerfing the worst class further.

Spend money to play a garbage game, the designers are idiots enough, there are only one or two professions that can be played, idiot career design

It’s almost like Diablo 4 developers are consciously fighting against everything that made classic Diablo fun. [Issue#262, p.80]

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.

The best Blizzard launch in a long time and a worthy game to be called Diablo.
