The game itself it's not bad, it's just what one can expect from the third chapter of Diablo series. The bad it's that you PAID a lot for this game, and almost EVERY day you cannot play cause Blizzard isn't able to setup their servers correctly to let players connect and play EVEN in SINGLE PLAYER. This is frustrating. Before buying a Blizzard title think twice. And twice again.

I'm a long time Diablo gamer. I've been fascinated by the series since I was a kid. The first game was epic, it didn't contain any flashy effects, vibrant colours or cheesy cutscenes, it was the real deal. Later on D2 was released, it took a little while to get used to the new system with 4 acts, (later on 5 acts with D2x) as well as the new classes, which were all cool and well thought out. Once you've gotten used to it, D2x was an amazing game, and still is today. However this cannot be applied to D3. Playing D3 feels like playing a whole different game. It's very cartoonish, a bit like world of warcraft. Diablo 3 leaves no doubt who the developers where aiming at with this game, namely the premature 12 year olds. I'm assuming most kids today would get scared if they were attacked by The Butcher from D1, wildly swinging his meat clever at them. So they made the graphics cartoonish and added childish cutscenes just to prevent the 12 year old blizzard fanboys from being scared by the game. This works, obviously. However it also gives the game a cheese-factor which makes it not only childish but very immature as well. The skill-system makes it completely impossible to make any unique builds. You'll need only 1 of each character. So much for creativity and experimentating. The cutscenes in Diablo 3 are super-cheesy, such as "Maghda" presenting the butcher with the words "Meet the butcher!", well, hello there butcher, hows it going, bro? Kids and immature adults may find this amusing, but true diablo gamers will surely find it **** annoying. Also there are no set or legendary items below inferno, you can basically run through norm - nightmare - hell without finding any decent item. All you'll encounter is rares and magic items. The quests are also extremely repetitive. All you get is gold and xp. You don't get any scrolls of resistance, potions with +20 life, +5 attribution points or +skill points like you did in D2x. The developers got rid of most of the things that made D2x fun to play. Instead you get gold and xp. From the start to the finnish. Oh did I mention that you get gold and XP? Yeah that's right, gold and xp. If you are bored to death by reading those same sentences you will most likely be bored to death by playing Diablo 3. The game is also horribly imbalanced. You can get 1-shotted in hell and inferno and there is nothing you can do about it, except fleeing the mobs. Some champion packs are actually stronger than the actual bosses, how messed up is that? There is no PvP either, the developers are working on a "area-pvp" function, just like in world of warcraft. So no open world PvP. The storyline is terrible and so is the voice acting. These idiotic amateurs who made this version of Diablo 3 have no idea how to make a Diablo game so they made a smaller version of World of Warcraft and named it Diablo 3. Not onyl that, they also took a massive dump on their loyal fans who's been loyal through many years.

Diablo 3 looks like an ipad game that forces you to connect to the internet to play. The only problem is you're still alone in your room, but wait a second I'm connected to the internet? I'm guessing they are trading your information to other sites to make a little cash on the side while you play one of the most dissapointing sequels of the decade. The problem started when they decided to make the game. Hack & Slash games aren't very good to begin with. We all played Diablo and Diablo 2 because we were waiting for Starcraft, or the next Warcraft RTS game. Probably the same reason why Blizzard eliminated the studio after the mediocre interest of Diablo 2. Then instead of coming up with a new ip, which I believe was rumored, they brought back their B franchise. Think of Warcraft without 90% of the lore. It's like the mouse for the PC just came out and they are showing you what it's capable of doing. I thought Blizzard shifted from making games this bad and wanted to build mmos and advanced rts esports games, the next age of gaming, instead they wanted to release another Diablo with half the content, no PVP, a gimmicky way to rip players off with a store that should be illegal. They forced it to be on the internet so that they wouldn't have cheating. The problem is no serious players are going to play this for long, so cheating might even add a bit of interest to the game after people have nothing else to do which happens after two days and beat it. Hey now try it but the enemies have a lot more health and the same artificial intelligence. Expand

Diablo 3 has been entirely engineered around the AH/RMAH so D3 will be pay2win soon and itemization is laughable. D3 is a slap in the face to loyal Diablo fan who have been around for a long time. At the surface, Diablo 3 is much better than most give it credit for. It has beautiful action, randomization enough to feel fresh, and a streamlined system. Even the lack of skillpoints will quickly be revealed to work wonderfully.

As you put some time into Diablo 3, you will start to see a bigger problem: a lack of variation. Not in the vistas, or models of your characters, or even abilities. The lack of variation instead stems from the core of the game: dungeons and items. Dungeons quickly become predictable despite randomization, and items all feel the same. Sure there are different stats, but all you really care about is DPS, followed by the single predefined stat for your character, and then perhaps some health or defense.
The problem lies in the lack of impact items have on your character. Your wizard doesn't care if he uses a staff, sword, or crossbow: only what DPS the weapon gives. There are less secondary effects than in previous games, and they mean less. In the end, the item hunt is the same no matter what class or build you are playing, and all gameplay feels the same.

The above points only makes the game mediocre at worst. The real reason for the low score is the shoddy online mechanics. Weeks after the game launched, players still run into overloaded servers, lag, and extended downtime, with no real end in sight. A game is only a game if it can be played, and on this count, Diablo 3 stands on shaky ground.

Easily the biggest flop of the decade.

If you've played the past Diablo games, DON'T pay and play this one. The game is nothing like the past games and revolves around getting you on the Real Money Auction House and trying to get you to spend money there. Feels much more like World of Warcraft than Diablo. Blizzard sold out and deceived us all big time on this game.

In order to get things done they had to cut a lot of stuffs from their original ideas and rush development to the point of changing important game mechanics few months before release, lacking on class balance testing and server reliability. The game not only came out without things they've promised but also poor implemented at certain aspects. Blizzard has clearly release an incomplete game after so many years of development. Overall the game is good but lacks on some important aspects of performance, class balance ( Melee vs ranged in Inferno, the highest difficulty of the game), customization and story. These days there is like 1 out of 50 games that comes out as finished product. Blizzard took way to long time to release D3 which is far from the finished game. They plan to bring pvp system through the future patch?! However they are far to busy solving so many other problems that the game is facing. They released the game as final product and yet they plan to change some core systems that they presented as something never seen before. D2 was brilliant game, it was far from perfect but it was good, and that was like 10 years ago. Things like scroll of identification and town portal scroll are totally unimportant to me. Anyway while I can understand why they removed those, following the same logic I don't get it why they left "white" items in the game (drop system) when there is absolutely no use for those items. D2 had "white" items too but those were very useful for crafting. Crafting system in D3 is dumb and totally worthless, you lose gold and materials by "gambling" for the stats instead of getting what you pay for. It has all be planned in such way so we all use gold auction house, but the reality is they want to force you to use Real money Auction House. This game is biggest failure in gaming history ever. It is unfanthomable how you can find yourself warping backwards due to lag while playing in singleplayer.
I really couldn't give a toss about interaction with other players, being able to see if my friends are online etc. I'd trade it all in an instant for some stabilty.

I hope Blizzard realises that the decision to implement such strict DRM has likely cost them more in negative reviews than ever would have been lost due to piracy. The current system punishes honest customers, and if this is the best that can be done after 12 years of developement, then i say cancel the damned launch, go back to the drawing board, and launch in 2 more years when the game is finished and able to withstand the user loads the sequal to one of the most iconic games of time is bound to attract.

There is no point in having more than one of each class because skills aren't built up and you don't place stat points, everyone has the exact same everything. Even when picking stats on gear it's pretty much a no-brainer. Blizzard customer care is below any minimal acceptable level, and for an online game customer support is vital for the service itself. Currently the game is not accessible since many days, many players were not able to play it at all since they grabbed it, due to continuous server issues, and this happens now since more than 2 weeks. This is simply unacceptable. Beware if you are planning to buy this game, it's wise to wait and see if they finally will be able to fix they major server issues.

Blizzard customer service is not acknowledging the ongoing major fault on their servers, and sadly they don't come out to provide official statements and actions in progress.

Fact is: this is an online game, and you currently cannot access to it.

They milked millions of dollars and euros around the world knowing that customers just buy everything with a Blizzard logo on it.
This is sad, but this is true.

Game could have been fun, polished (and addictive you know), but they destroyed it being the game unplayable after 12 years of development, not even acknowledging the problem.

Gamers, there are several excellent alternatives upcoming out there, some are even free to play. If you buy a Porshe you are not just buying a brand, but a uber quality product. Let's start thinking that a Blizzard product it's no more a safe quality choice.

Granted they don't pull experience, just 10% durability, but they increase your death timer gradually each time you die in a short span of time. And die you will. Hell is meant to be a challenge and when I got here it challenged one thing, my patience. I was hoping for a multiplayer game that required... multiple players to work together to defeat the minions of Hell! Nope, we got a wipe fest. I'm sorry Blizzard, but this game is just not what I hoped and expected it to be. My reasons: 1) The Always-Online-DRM is horrible! Let me explain: For 2999 to 5999 gold I find super-decent items that are tailored to the needs of my nightmare character. So the excitement I felt back in Diablo 2, whenever a rare item droped, is just not there anymore. - Now I buy everything I want to use in the auctionhouse anyways. 3) The Smith and especially the Jeweller are completely useless: I can buy all the Jewels I need in the auctionhouse. - For a fraction of the cost that I need to pay to just upgrade the Jeweller!!! Now that can't be a desired game mechanic! 4) No chance of preventing my "friends" to see if I'm online or not? What were you thinking when you added that feature? I don't want anyone to know exactly how long and how often I play a game. 5) The story is... well... not really catching. It feels more like a b-class game then one of the most anticipated RPGs of all times. 6) I was really disconent about the graphics. Don't get me wrong: I like the colorful style. Yes, it isn't dark, but it fits the game. What I don't like: On my 30" screen (and on high settings) the game's textures just look old. Especially the characters just don't have the detail that I'd expect to see in a 2012 game. All in all: I'm sorry Blizzard, but for the first time since I play your games (and that started with "Lost vikings") I am really unhappy about the final product! Expand

If you buy Diablo3 for the listed reasons and more then realize that none of the features listed are part of the game and the ones that are are very weak. Diablo3 is built around one thing and one thing only: Loot and the Auction House to trade that loot in fake money(gold) or in real money. Now when I started playing Diablo2 back in 2000-2004 those were the years I was studying accounting and management and it was possible for me to become involved in the real Wallstreet. I turned down that option soon after I realized it was a model based off of greed. Now 10 years later I am still playing video games and I am confronted by Diablo3 which has nothing good content wise in it. Diablo3 is a very bare bones game and it is probably meant that way so that people will turn to the only content available: the (real money) auction house. If I wanted to play a Wallstreet sim I would have just become a stock broker in the first place. Activision bought out Viventi in 2008 which owned Blizzzard so I guess Diablo3 is the first game to be produced by Blizzard Activision after its merger. I'm not an expert player but I resent that the entire game has to be played through on Normal difficulty (which is rarely challenging) before being presented with the choice to increase the difficulty (and thus make the thing more engaging than simply clicking a million enemies to death with little thought or tactics). The always-connected issue is just as ludicrous as others have complained about... I have ZERO desire to play this with strangers online and as for always-on removing the ability to cheat - who actually cares about that other than the hard-core pvp knuckleheads that will still insist that the other guy is SOMEHOW cheating? I played it. A lot. And the game itself contains a lot of overlookable flaws, like the graphic.
But that's all folks: crafting is rendered useless due extreme costs and poor chancesw to get something good, random loot forces the player to trade in cash the items to get something good on the AH (which is one of the problem of the game on my advice).
Talking about loot and gear we have the (so I think) nucleous of the game, and a rotten one: "gear is everything". Not build, not ability, no, the gear.
Now, if we have a decent rpg we should have a good plot (which D3's isn't, flat, simple and short as it is) and a good fighting system (where good=balanced) where the most capable gamers go on and the least try to get better by trial & error.
Here we have 3 "casual" difficulties (yes, I played the whole game three times in a row and, yeah, it is way too boring) and a hard one (plus an hardcore mode for the skilled ones, or the lucky ones rather), which it isn't really hard, it is simply masochistic.
You get oneshotted by every damn mod if you try the 2nd act in a "rpg-like" (so skill>gear) way.
But when you equip in a good way (which means a lot of farming, and the boring one, where you find nothing even decent and sell a whole bag of stuff to the vendors) you reap every enemy, almost without effort (still there are some random monster (yeah, random is a keyword) that you simply CANNOT defeat because of their abilities. This is not hard, this is frustrating and useless.
In syntesis, the only way in Diablo 3 is brute strenght (customisation = 0, you can change the sex and the active skills, but every x lvl character (class of choice) i equal to every other of the same level and class. And more of it none has a background or something to define him (change of quotes in-game, but the mission-related speech is the same, just dubbed with different voices). You cannot gent "into" the character, which isn't good.
Talking about variety we get near the core: the usual way (in abyss or inferno) are: farm farm farm farm, something good? no, sell all, auction house, can I buy anything? no, farm farm farm farm to get more gold (since hoping in a better luck isn't likely to work).
So it will become a pay4win? I very think so!
The normal reaction would be "but it sure has extras, right?" Wrong! No extra random dungeon (was it too hard or you just want us to pay to have 'em?), no extra mission apart from the main story, no minigames....it is "story or gtfo", end of the story.
Topped already? Get another character and start again from scratch.
It isn't fun? You already paid, so why should they care?
The only things for this 5/10 score are the graphics (not that good and not that dark, but they get the job done) and the community (chat and laugh between a slaughter and the other is almost more fun than the game itself).
I have also played D2:lod and the only good changes are the shared trunk and (to me) the 6 slots of skills (I always forgot which F had the ability I wanted), the worst things are the shrunken locations and the absence of customisation in skills (ok, you can change the build, but it almost counts nothing, compared to the importance of the gear).
Will I continue playing? Yeah, If I pay for something I will play it totally, even if I don't like it that much (think about FFX-2...).
Of course if they're not mantaining a full server.

I always loot just poor items, and usually only items of another class of heroes.
I finished the game in 3 difficulties, and never found a legendary item, I always look the entire maps, but never find a good thing to use, or to sell.
The lag make me die much times, so I have to spend gold to repair items.
Another bad thing is the craft or armor, weapons or gem, why I have to spend golds when I create an item?
why when I create an item my craft skill don't grow?
I think is soo stupid I have to pay for items, and for skill up in the craft.
Bosses or strong monsters don't drop good items why?
I defeated Diablo in nightmare mode, and he dropped jsut 2 blu items!!!!!!!!! this is so stupid.
I think blizzard have to give us some more luck in loot and some gold for the lag, or maybe a treasuer with some loots, cause every 2 days all servers are down, cause everyday I lag much.

    Equipment
Only DPS matters, Str or Int or Dex has some value and if anything else has value? No, nothing else has value. Add 1% stun? what is that? 1%? So full set at best has 8% stun?
And for this 8% I have to give up DPS which is the only thing we can rely on killing monster than being killed?

    Skill -2
Monster has better killing skill than player, they can lock you at a spot and use Damage over time skill to kill you and these damage over time skill kills so fast you are puzzled the first few times why you get killed.
Not to mention other elite monster skill combo that makes you scream like Jailed + Desecrator + Arcane
Oh by the way, there are impossible to kill skill combinations

The resulting skill advantage is so big that for "Balance" issue, Blizzard weaken or restrict that game skill

And for these people who spend time and effort in the potential I can imagine they got pissed.

Moreover, while the game could be addictive notwithstanding in a foolish way if you take it for what it is (an arcade hack'n'slash with outdated concepts and graphics and no real creativity in it), Blizzard adds another weight to the scale:

The enforced online-only nature tied to Battle.net servers and the pitiful service offered by their servers.

For the game itself, the mark would be 5...the game is really bad for 2012 standards, but it's still addictive...however the problem is that is online-only, Blizzard is giving a crappy service with its servers and customer service and the main fun part (Auction House) is more often taken down and not working than working!

Given that even the most addicted customer would get sick quite quickly...

    My suggestion is:

    Don't buy.

You'll pay good cash for a mediocre game and the worst service you could think even in your nightmares. Moreover you'll not be able to play offline while Blizzard mess everything up with its demented Battle.net servers!!

I liked the fact that the smithing system which it will produce different effects of each piece of equipments, making me wanted to collect the materials and smith again, increase the durability of the game. HOWEVER, there are many weak points of this game which lower the score, in my opinion, I really dislike the difficulty system which restricted you to play through the whole four acts till you unlock the next difficulty, it was very boring that you already remembered all the monsters location and the mission. IF you are trying to get to inferno difficulty, imagine how many times you have to play through the complete identical four acts again and wasting your time. Another point that I hate this game was the server system, often times I was getting so piss off due to the fact that I always get kicked from the server because it was full, how ridiculous was that, and you had to wait for half an hour in order to continue the game, what was the idea behind this, kept us lock in a room and wait for the countdown to complete? You bought this game to enjoy, not to wait. Actually there also have many bad areas about this game, but these were the main once. I played single player a couple days and then switched into playing multiplayer with my wife. I never joined a public game, never talked to anyone in chat, never interacted with the online component in any way. My account was hacked less that 15 days after purchasing the game. Blizzard had rollback points, which is good, if they're frequent. I'm a casual gamer now, so I play sometimes, maybe 2 or 3 times a week. They had one rollback when I was level 4 and another when I was 18, none for all the progress after that. In addition, even though their choice to put this pile of trash online only, you can only have 2 rollbacks for the lifetime of the account. So if you get hacked at lvl 60 and lose all your rare and legenday items and then it happens again that's all you get. A third hack will mean personal loss.

I will say the game is very fun, the enemies are varied and challenging and the game itself has a lot of polish. If it had SP/LAN this review would be a 10. But so far my interaction has been play the game and have a really great time, then I got hacked, then I alerted blizzard and they took forever to get back to me. 48 hours is too damn long. Especially when the account recovery tool quotes 6-12. So they tell me that I can have my stuff back if I want to be out of level with my wife and unable to play with her. I skipped the restore because of the 2 restore lifetime limit, but this experience has ruined the game for me. I've not been hacked on any game ever before because mostly I run LAN with the direct connections to the internet disabled completely. (Eliminates interruptions from SMS/IM services)

This review slams the game pretty hard, but the core of the game is good. The mechanics are solid and it's really an awesome feeling when you put the right skills together and lay waste to the minions of hell. But making every single person that bought the game a target for hackers is **** What I've really lost is my respect for Blizzard. Before you slam be and tell me that I just don't like blizzard, understand that when I was 5 I found Warcraft and I played Warcraft everyday until Warcraft II, which I played everyday until I found Diablo. I've logged thousands of hours into Blizzard releases. More time that I've spent playing every elder scrolls game, even arena and daggerfall. That's saying something. Within a week of buying Skyrim I'd logged 100 hours while working a full time job. I think when I finally stopped playing Morrowind the damage was around 700 hours. 23 hours into this one my account is hacked and the game is virtually unplayable due to the terrible customer service.

If you're just looking for a casual game where you can log in and play with a friend or two, save your cash for Torchlight 2, put up with the lower budget and enjoy a game that not every hacker in the world is hacking into.

After waiting day after launch ( since I couldn't get in) game literally killed my excitement little by little. Game is a total step-back compared to predecessor. While its nice to switch around skills for a while, blizzard totally killed experimentation with skill points and uniqueness of skills. Skill trees in diablo 2 used to be crystal clear to read and compare and showed damage done as well as gave synergies to make it really interesting. On top of that attribute points are allocated automatically. That leaves player with no choices making character boring. Story is not memorable at all beside few little moments. They managed to make the game so generic that it pains me to say this. Game is boring after a while. It doesn't bring anything really innovative to the table(and I would say it even takes away). Some would say that they brought auction house and characters are more balanced for PvP but again(what PvP?) there's no PvP. Personally I finished the game on normal and I'm not so sure that there's enough to keep me going. There's only four players in a group and maps seem very small. They had 12 years to make a great polished game. It seems that Blizzard prioritizes MMos now so everything else is an addition. Instead of evolving great game and implementing more ideas into the game, blizzard managed to give diablo 3 a console feel. Yes I said that right, console. Game would be fine as a release for a console. Just to sum it up. Blizzard somehow managed to avoid almost everything that was great about diablo 2 and make something(some would say different) but I would say worse since as of now I don't see myself playing it 12 years from now as I did with diablo 2. Some newcomers might like it, but seasoned players growing up on diablo and diablo 2 surely wont be so happy and they make majority. I guess they only hope lies in Torchlight 2 which is going to cost 1/3 of what diablo 3 did and seems much better in aspect of uniqueness and implementation. Well we'll have to wait a little since release date is set to summer 2012. Thank you for reading my rambling and I hope someone from Blizzard wakes up and realizes that they wasted pretty big opportunity to make even bigger bucks.PS Blizzard if you ever need help with ideas and implementation just contact me since there's a serious lack of talent on your team. One of the main reasons is how unlikely you are to get any lootThis game is the only one I thought to get the Collector's Edition for and, while it did contain some extra goodies, overall my game experience is pretty meh. I currently have a Wizard, level 60, in Inferno difficulty Act 1. Normal and Nightmare were a blast to play through, but once I reached Hell, the fun drained away. One of the main reasons is how unlikely you are to get any loot useful to you or anyone else. Items "roll" random stats and they could be awesome, useless, or anything in-between. The same goes for Legendaries, which are so rare you get excited when you see one and then, after looking at the stats, say "WTF?" There are also champion and elite enemies in the game. With each difficulty, they get an additional ability, up to 4 in Inferno. These abilities can range from locking you in place for a few seconds (Jailer) to setting up a rotating laser beam of death. (Arcane Enchanted) Some of the combos are literally impossible to beat. An example I came across yesterday was a group of huge zombies that naturally have a ton of health with the following abilities: Jailer, Waller (Summons walls to block your path), Vortex (randomly pulls you close to them), and Arcane Enchanted. I tried for a good 10 minutes to kill them and there was no way it would ever happen. I am in no way a noob in this kind of game and I know how to use my cooldowns, but I could not for the life of me even kill 1 of the 3 mobs. This brings me to another point. There is a buff you get at level 60 upon killing a champion mob called "Nephalem Valor" which stacks to 5 and increases your chance of finding magic items. It also guarantees certain kinds of drops on bosses. The only problem with this is that if you change any of your abilities around (in a game that is pretty much based on doing so) you lose all your stacks. This is especially frustrating if you meet a champion pack you cannot get past, so you have to either restart your game, which loses your stacks, or change your abilities around, which loses your stacks. Meeting unkillable champion packs in a game is just bad game design in my opinion. There is something to be said for having an appropriate challenge, but if it's impossible, nobody will want to play anymore.

My first play through was fun and it is nice to be able to jump into my brother's game and vice-versa, but once you get to the higher difficulties, the fun goes away and is replaced with anger at not being able to kill the 10th champion pack in a row and having nowhere to bring the pack to have them kill you so you can move past, since they don't move around after you die. Ironically, the champion packs are harder than the actual bosses. Diablo 3 is a game I really WANT to enjoy, but lately there have been a ton of server issues regarding random maintenance, crashes, etc... and with no ability to play offline, the lag can almost make it unplayable. Yesterday, the lag was so bad I had to wait 18 seconds to swing my barbarian's weapon at the target, at which point it was somewhere else entirely and the damage it would have done was taken out of my health. As a final note: if you are considering purchasing Diablo 3, my suggestion is to wait a month or 2 so Blizzard can get their act together and fix the servers to provide a more enjoyable experience. It's also frustrating to have to use the auction house feature just to get gear upgrades since nothing good ever seems to drop when you play your own character.

Sono veramente all'inferno.

    [English Version]
After 12 years of waiting for the sequel to Diablo 2, finally here it is.
Deliberately I avoid the part of the installation of the game. I would not be objective.
    Later in the game.
Toh! What a strange graphic ... uh ... I do not think so "attractive" as they praised. In fact ... I think just a little "antiquated". Yet the colors ... I'm a bit strange, too doughy ... too watery ... too "pastel".
The classes are "cute". Nothing really great to be honest, there is much lack of classes like the necromancer ...
    -After 10 hours of play-
    There's something not quite right.
Skills are "strange". Not really "cool" are all average earnings and average are all useless.
Also the equipment ... is very strange. I have a terrible misfortune, and I find really useful objects. Also in this case, the equipment that are unable to loot from the mobs / boss, is on average useful and useless on average.
    -After 60 hours of play-
They are to "Hell". I'm really in hell. I'm freaking out.
There is no logic in the exponential expansion of the fightings. The various enemies gain powers and abilities in an absolutely random mode. If you redo the same 10 times Rare/Elite/Boss, 10 times more and will use different abilities. Not to mention that in addition to their "super enhanced" ability, they acquire even more Rare/Elite/ Boss abilities. It's a delirium. The system is made not to be exceeded.
There is only one way to end "Inferno" to Diablo: avoid all Rare/Elite on the path and go directly to the boss. There is no other solution.
Even the equipment is a foolish choice: the player is FORCED to use only the Auction House. Even here there is no other way. There is no way to loot decent gear, even with the stack of Value of the Nephilim.

To conclude: there are games that are hard in a smart, funny, mode; Diablo III is hard only in "retard idiot" mode.
In a nutshell: if you come towards the end of the fourth level increases excessively the feeling of being cheated, the feeling of being cheated.
Finished Diablo "hell" is just one thing to do: uninstall the game and forget about spending money on such crap.

Errors, errors, errors and again errors. It's almost impossible to connect with the game server, there are several bugs, the story is terrible and the game-play... well... hard to say how it is, due to a load of latency and connection errors. Wanna play with a funny game? DON'T buy this one!

Blizzard decided you had to play this game online, even if you play solo. Keep that in mind if you decide to go and buy the game. Because you simply won't be able to play it if Blizzard' server down. And they are, a lot of time, down. So you probably won't even get to decide if you like the game design. You'll just be left wondering.

UK - Having not played Diablo or Diablo 2 I can't comment on how the game compares, all i can say is that no matter how much you want this game do not buy it right now until blizzard fix it. There has not been a single day since launch where I have been able to log in and play at the times I would like without outright server closure or random disconnections.

I Feel it is fair to compare this to a Subscription MMO, since it requires online servers to be played, The problem is this is where the similarity ends and also Blizzards incentive to please their customers or fix it quickly. They have already collected plenty of revenue, and without subscriptions are most unlikely to compensate players in the way that MMOs do during times of such incompetence.

If any owners of the game are reading this please take the time to post your views, positive or negative so that all future buyers get a fair representation of what service they are buying.

This is the issue with critic reviews, they buy a product to use once and discard after a few hours, true customers buy a prolonged service, and this is what blizzard are failing to deliver

First of all, Diablo is fun. A great thing to cut time waiting for a real game.

However, for 60eur, I don't expect: * constant server problems * story that lasts only 15-20 hours * idiotic map reset each time the game is left (either by your choice or network problem); I cannot imagine how someone while having discussion about game design said 'yes, we'll have it! this is the best

    - Difficulty poorly tuned (too easy and then impossible even if you don't use the AH).... - ... force the player to use the auction house to be able to continue in high difficulties (real money AH, here we go!) - NO PVP so now it's only the stupid

PDT is killing my play time. Ok so I get over that and then I have to play infantile normal mode, revealing the whole story line, talk about spoilers and find out nightmare is not so hard and I have to do it over and over again for each character. Talk about boring. Drops don't get better in nightmare mode, they get worse. Everything else is basically done for you, most decisions are taken out of your hands and little customization for the characters. The game play is great but such a disappointment in all other areas. It could have been one great game!!! but alas Blizzard might be bowing to the money gods and using the 4 modes to keep us using the Auction house??maybe?? Oh and speaking of the Auction house up, down in gold mode and forget currency mode????Poor planning .....

For a game that has for years been based around killing bosses and collecting loot it seems incredibly short sighted to make killing bosses tedious and to make the loot they drop worthless. The story is terrible, the characters 1 dimensional and cheesy, the game more linear than any I have ever played and the item system completely backwards. The result of these factors leaves you feeling quite depressed and has you reaching for the disk and a hammer. The difficulty curve is atrocious going from unfathomably easy to completely impossible not through interesting mechanics but through stat boosts so ridiculous you are forced to grind for an indefinite period of time OR head to the auction house where conveniently Blizzard will take a cut of the fee spent. Regardless of how good you are at the game these are your only 2 options, this does not seem as much of a challenge as it is a chore.

I feel I have been lied to about the randomisation of the game and "the events" that keep the game fresh. The randomisation is as minor as it could possibly be with all outdoor areas (which make up most of the game) the exact same every play through. The most advanced event I have come across so far has been "kill this person right in front of you" with the least advanced being carrying a potion 2 meters down a path to another character. These events are not fun they are insulting.

In the games current state I cannot recommend it to anyone. I am currently hoping that the game will be patched and fixed in the coming weeks otherwise the long wait for diablo 4 has begun. Blizzard you have let me down. (Oh yeah I forgot to mention it is impossible to log in even if you did want to play this diabolical)

    Issues with the game:
-Linear maps (little randomization; in contrary to what was promised pre-launch)
-Not possible to travel between acts, feels very confined
-Terrible story plot, awful dialogue, undermining and completely ruining very important characters from the previous Diablo games.
-Boring cut-scenes that get very repetitive after completing normal difficulty
-Loot system completely broken -Monsters' skills randomized (very little thought into it, and very uncreative)
-In Hell/Inferno there is little consideration for monsters' damage, a lot of instant kills -Bosses are too easy and drop loot that is comparable with ordinary mobs
-Diablo himself looks like a woman with large hips (why have you ruined him?)
-Servers unreliable, always getting errors when trying to log in

Blizzard has completely undermined and spat on a large fan base that has been eagerly and faithfully awaiting this game for years. Cheers.

    (-CONNECTION / INTERNET-)
The bad thing with diablo 3 is battlenet. Battelnet is full of lag and the auction house does not work half the time. Also, you have to be careful, because some people including me got their account hacked.

    (-HARDCORE-)
If you like hardcore, this game is not for you unless if you dont mind being high level and dying because of the lag or bugs. Right now the game has this issue, which is the fact that when you are at position A and you try to move at position B for example. Your character will move for a second away from position A, but after that second is done you will teleport back to position A, therefore never reaching position B. Let's say your position A is next to an elite and your B is getting away from the elite. Well you wont get away at all you character is gonna moonwalk, take damage and die.

Not only is it a horrible example of failure on a technical a level for the company with the most successful online game but most of all Blizzard should be ashamed of what they have done with this once great game Franchise.

It has been "World of Warcrafted" . Dumbed down to the lowest level of skill required. Real money auction house? Really? Skills I cant even chose? No attributes? And beyond that its a crappy graphics level which looks like WoW in small.

I cant tell you how much this is the LAST time you have received money from me. Way to piss off a loyal fan from back in the Lost Viking days.

You shovel money in boatloads over 10 years and this is how you treat the fans that made it happen.

The game is not great. Its just well funded and well marketed, if they would have simply updated the graphics on D2 it would have been a better game. Story is not interesting enough to cover the fact that you are reduced to moronic monotony due to the limited and pre-prescribed skillset you choose from. Such a shame and the fact that the "critic" reviews loved this game just shows that nobody has the balls to tell it how it is.

Diablo 3 is an excellent game. However the game has some terrible design choices. For one, the auction house ruins the balance. In PVP, I really hope you cannot use items purchased in the AH, if that's the case, then PVP is completely futile, and utterly stupid. Anyone canDiablo 3 is an excellent game. Anyone can spend cash on gold, or even cash in the real-world currency AH, buy all the gear they want and then go "pwn sum nubs" with their elite gear that they just bought from someone who spent hours to find it. Another dissapointment is the completely ridiculous, unoriginal pile of trash that they call a story. Who wrote the story for this game? Were they drunk? Were they dropped on their head as a child!? The story is so mediocre that I can't even describe in words the mediocrity of the depth and lack of any actual interesting aspect within D3's plot. Towards the end it gets interesting, but just for a few moments, then it goes back to being an uninspired joke. The cinematics are epic, but way too short. I really think that Blizzard could have done better wtih both the story and cinematics. Diablo 2 had much better cutscenes, and the fight scenes within D3's are very short and uninteresting. Very disappointing Blizz, Starcraft 2 had better cutscenes than this, so why couldn't you do D3's with the same energy that you put into SC2's!? Now, the ranting is over. On to the good. Diablo 3 has a unique and interesting skill system. The game is designed to be unique to each individual, and that their is no supreme, or most-optimal build. This is true, and Blizz designed the skill system well. The game now relies more on skill rather than what website you copied your build from. I am impressed by the rune system and the sheer amount of variety you can have toying with your character's abilities. One thing that I love about Diablo 3, is the art style. Yes it is mildly cartoony, and I am aware of the seemingly WoW inspired graphics, but the environments look awesome, enemies are great to look at, and the backdrops are interesting. Another problem I have in this game, is the ridiculous character design. The Witch Doctor looks fine, so does the Barbarian, but a few of the others are bizarre and almost out of place. The female monk looks like a white Halle Berry, the male Wizard looks like he just stepped out of a Japanese anime and the male Demon Hunter looks like a teenaged junkie. In conclusion Diablo 3 is an excellent game, even if you must suffer through digital communism, er, I mean Blizzard's DRM via Batle.net. I give D3 a 7.5/10. Pros: Addictive gameplay, great skill system, varied enemy variety and interesting artstyle Cons: DRM, auction house DESTROYS balance, short and non-epic cutscenes, terrible story that lacks both imagination and originality Expand

I was very annoyed when Starcraft 2 required me to be online every so often to validate single player. However, in practice it never affected me and I was able to enjoy the game. Diablo 3 does not even have this lame option. The player has no offline gameplay mode. Blizzard has found a way to introduce lag and their server problems into single player games, way to go Blizzard! The game feels like it has a lot of potential. It would appear to me that they have the engine and a campaign finished, and now need to flesh out much more of the world. I would like to see more done with the item system and the drop rates. The item system feels boring, especially gems, which are the only item I know of that you can put into a socket. The drop rate currently does not feel rewarding. Killing bosses on everything but inferno feels a bit disappointing, I always feel as if I am not rewarded for killing the boss. Heck, even a lot of gold would feel more rewarding.

I feel as if the current battle.net system takes away any sense of community. This is probably just my take, but I find it harder to participate with other users socially using the Diablo 3 system, when compared to other games. It is a personal preference I'm sure, but it bothers me and might you.

The story felt like a bad comic book, but Diablo 3 was never about the story. The lore was more interesting and I felt as if this was handled well.

I do not understand everyone complaining about the colors in the game. I felt as if everything looked nice. Yes, I was a little disappointed with the graphics when I saw the game. Given the many years this has been worked on, I expected stunning graphics, instead I felt like I was rewarded with modern day Diablo 2 graphics. Not a big deal to me, things do not look bad, I just expected more given the long development times.

The constant server problems are inexcusable. They had plenty of time to look into and test this. It is even worse when we consider the fact that we have no other option, when Blizzard cant get their crappy servers running, we all pay. We even payed Blizzard for this privilege.

I was going to purchase copies for the kids to play with me. Given the state of the game, I can not justify the expense. I will wait until the price is cheaper and the quality of the game improves. I wish I would have waited on my own copy...
