  • Summary: Frank West is a freelance photojournalist on the hunt for the scoop of a lifetime. He travels to a small suburban town in pursuit of a hot lead, only to find that it's been overrun with zombies. What a way to start an assignment. Frank heads for the local shopping mall, assuming that he'll be safe there, but the zombies have taken over the place. Now it's up to you to help Frank survive this onslaught of the undead, using everything you can find in the mall to help fight off the bloodthirsty mob and search for the truth behind this horrendous epidemic.

    With an open, free environment, you'll be able to explore plenty of areas both inside and outside the mall. Zombies come in never-ending waves, so be prepared to use the endless supply of vehicles, makeshift weapons and more against these former humans. A real-time system means that key events happen at certain times, so you need to pay attention. You can even use Frank's photojournalistic skills to capture the mayhem on film for posterity -- if anyone is left, that is.    … Expand

    After all these years Dead Rising’s design is still absolutely unique. There’s no way you’ll finish the game in the first attempt. You’ll have to repeat it over and over again to work out the optimum scenario, but Dead Rising is so good you won’t mind that at all. [12/2016, p.56]

    In 2016, Dead Rising is fantastic nostalgic trip that benefits from the higher resolution, frame rate and graphical options greatly, despite the overall textures and models not being as magical as they once were.

    Though it hasn't aged that well, Dead Rising remains a good experience. The game can be tough as nails due to the intentional design choices and flaws that stand out in comparison to modern conventions.

    There’s joy to be found in this zany horrorshow, but it’ll take a seasoned janker to grit their teeth through its issues and fully appreciate it.

    Just finished my playthrough loved it very much i played it after finishing Dead rising 2 back in 2013 which should tell you something, i loveJust finished my playthrough loved it very much i played it after finishing Dead rising 2 back in 2013 which should tell you something, i love the graphics so much the game engine is very beautiful can't get bored of it, and gameplay i like how the story is locked with a timer gives the game more purpose and feel like you need to make the most of your time playing the game.

Sure there are bugs, and if you play for too long it can get repetitive, but that repetitiveness isn't always a bad thing. The arcade style does make me not want to play ever again sometimes, but always I can come back after a break, and play my heart out again. My main gripe with the game is the absolutely stupid AI. Both the people who you ally with, and the enemies can be braindead at points. But in it's defence, this was a graphically hard game to run at the time, thanks to the at some points ridiculous amount of zombies on screen, and Capcom Vancouver (at the time Blue Castle Games) was a quite small team. Overall, I would recommended this game to literally anyone who enjoys gaming, but I would give them a caution that it can be very frustrating at times. Especially achievement hunting. Lord, 7 day survivor was pure agony.… Expand

You give us whole place to explore, but not enough time to explore it? How stupid can you be? But yeah it's a game from japan, so what I expect, most games from japan are full of s***. Second mistake is the saving. You save by going to the toilet. And like wtf is this supposed to be? This makes the game so frustrating, because you have to keep in mind, that you'll have to go to the toilet and it's mostly far away from your objectives, so it just becomes a drag and a waste of time. This whole game is a f**** waste of time. Third mistake are the weapons and how fast they'll get destroyed. I pick up something, I slash 3-4 zombies and that's all, it's gone. F*** this game and anyone who likes it. Pickens condemns.… Expand
