A wonderfully crafted fantastic adventure in the style of Jules Verne and H. P. Lovercraft with great puzzles and an immersive atmosphere. Don't miss it. [Issue#309]

A perfectly-paced puzzle adventure that manages to pour more than the expected amount of heart into its story, it manages to combine a number of disparate elements into a hugely enjoyable game, and certainly not one to be missed.

Call of the Sea continues the tradition that sees the indie industry as a tireless forge of often unmissable gems and does so by moving beyond pure genres and also playing on contrasts. That contrast that perhaps pushes Norah to find comfort in an unknown so unfathomable and surreal as to be frighteningly fascinating.

While its story relies on well-worn clichés, Call of the Sea is an otherwise compelling supernatural tale of self-discovery that will dazzle your eyes, delight your ears, and delightfully rack your brain.

Call of the Sea is a new take on Lovecraft’s lore with a vivid introduction that enhances the moments when the game transitions into darker waters. With an interesting story and solid puzzles, it is an adventure game worth playing.

Call of the Sea could be considered as a narrative puzzle game where the second element is much more relevant than the firs one; although both depend on each other to exist. With a series of puzzles that will take the player into a smooth back and forth between the frustrating process of looking for a solution to the problem and the satisfaction of finding it, Call of the Sea offers a proposal that follows the basic rules of the genre and It is topped off with beautiful art design and a plot that delivers what it promises.

Call of the Sea can be described as: a forgettable adventure, sprinkled with fun, but easy puzzles. The exposition-heavy "narration" of the main heroine ruins the atmosphere of this journey, which isn't that strong to begin with, especially for a story dealing with eldritch terrors from beyond. The only reason to play this are the puzzles, although they too fail to keep you invested, as you won't really care about reaching the end, especially if a fan of Lovecraft, which will instantly turn the plot into an extremely predictable one. It has its moments, sure, and the visuals are beautiful, but this is generally a mediocre experience.

Really a great game, first person adventure game with good looking 3D graphics, different types of puzzles and an awesome story. The graphicsReally a great game, first person adventure game with good looking 3D graphics, different types of puzzles and an awesome story. The graphics is great, it looks good, and there is no issue where, some parts of it looks epic, and the graphics adding to the cosmic theme of the game (no spoilers here). some of the puzzles were too hard, one took me more than an hour, another was too hard for me to solved (good thing I have internet), and some were relatively easy, but most of them were dissent, and I liked it. if the main reason a person would like to play a game is for its puzzles - please play this game. The story in the beginning sound doll, but as the game advanced, it was really amazing, I really liked the endings. I totally recommend to play this game, if not for the puzzles, for its story. the game has two endings, I had the change to save the game in the right time and watch both ending (its right at the end of the game, there is not gameplay in that part).

    I gave it 9/10.

Call of the Sea é um jogo focado principalmente em puzzle, a direção de arte é muito boa, a história tem suas falhas, mas ainda é boa.

The story is interesting but the constant commentary of the main character is tiresome. The sounds are amazing in the game. The puzzles starts well but became too illogical in chapter 3 ending and more. It's often presented in a very eclectic way and I didn't find trying to interpret all those disparate elements, a fun experience. I give it 65% mainly because it well done in terms of atmosphere. I was expecting a leisurely and fun experience akin to exploring Disney World's various theme parks. However, this game is nothing like that. Though the landscapes in the game are often breath-taking, I was amazed at how technically complex the game is. The early puzzles are related to the natives and weren't too bad to solve, but then Norah encounters numerous machinery of varying types all of which are out of commission that she must restore. Harry's goal was to find a cure for Norah's strange sickness, but it's hard to see a connection between that goal and all the gizmos the expedition was using. Unfortunately, after awhile you really don't care about Harry and all the gushing he does about Norah. The puzzles get harder and harder and the game is completely fantasy driven with no basis in reality. You really have to love complex puzzle solving to complete this game and apparently, based on reviews, some players are fine with that challenge. Ultimately, I couldn't finish it despite having the aid of a walkthrough. Got close, but bungled the last bit to open the final wall that would have led to the conclusion. Expand
