Another 'awesome' game, completely destroyed the same old bugs, same poor net code. I shouldn't be surprised but some of the glitches are evident in other games they have published and subsequently ignored. Spend far too much time debugging the game rather than playing. Typical "were working on it" replies and no actual fixes.
Don't waste your money on the PC version.

I will no longer buy any games from EA. When you think about it, it's theft and I won't support it any longer, you can't treat people like this.

It's a very nice game. Good graphics, good gameplay and awesome features. Why I didn't give it a 10/10:
It has a lot of bugs that should have been fixed in the beta... It is unfinished and by no means finished. I'm not getting that much crashes or issues. When it happens, yes, it's pretty annoying, but it can't make you give a 1/10 or a 2/10 or even a 0/10. I blame EA for what happens

DICE is trying a lot to fix those issues, and I appreciate that. The single player is not the best, but I don't find it so bad. The real problem is that some people can't even complete it, and you need it to unlock the weapons in the game. The multiplayer is awesome when it works properly. So, in conclusion, BF4 is an awesome game, with an awesome potential, but it is held back by the bugs and the problems in the game.

If the game was actually finished the muiltplayer would be amazing and the single play would be better than average. But as it stands on PC I cant play the game because of the buggness of the game. Since I cant play it and non of my friends on PC can play it either it deserves the lowest possible score. In its current state its just another cash grab by EA and a stain on DICE.

I've been a huge fan of the whole Battlefield Series and spent like easily 3000 hours playing, which is why im even more disappointed in Battlefield4.
Its pretty clear that you buy the game mostly for the multiplayer the campaign is just a short compilation of stupid cliches and patriotism so just forget it (Oh yeah you have to play it to get all the guns in the game, the last mission

The multiplayer is an updated version of Battlefield 3, that would be ok if it has gotten any better.
At this point in time this is (still after 1,5 months) clearly an unfinished product, every patch changes the feel of the game completely so if you got used to the gameplay its like a slap in the face every three weeks and it is impossible to stay at a certain level at skill.
The maps are not that bad but the game is clearly missing a good Infantry only map, the only thing close to that is Operation Locker but that one isnt called the "Meatgrinder" without a reason (too few routes, too linear).
Levolution looks nice but in the end its just a gimmick and doesnt require any change of tactics, in the most matches the events arent even triggered by the players.
The worst thing is the hit registration, it was not that good in BF3 because of client side hit registration, but in BF4 its beyond acceptable. At first there was the one hit kill bug then hits in the head would have been registered twice leading to your instant death. Trading kills was so common at a certain point it was simply enraging. And after the latest patch hit registration is messed up and sometimes delayed. If you know in which direction a player is moving you just have to shoot there and you will hit him even if the player model on your screen reaches this spot a short period of time later (this was tested in 2m distance) and even works through solid walls.
Hit Registration wasnt the best in all of the Battlefield titles but this is simply unacceptable.
In conclusion Battlefield 4 is simply an unfinished title with a lot of potential but the launch phase of the game has just simply ruined it, as a gamer buying a full price game we can expect a finished game (yeah it can be a little rough around the edges), but this is still in beta phase.

I know many don't care about single player and rightly so as the franchise is recognized for it's multiplayer mainly.

But the 3 is for the single player effort. I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign despite the 'on the rails' nature of it. The story is a bit silly, however the delivery is awesome. Compared with CoD Ghosts, there is more flexibility in the gameplay and everything looks much

Compared with CoD Ghosts, there is more flexibility in the gameplay and everything looks much better. Good effort, DICE! Would be great to get a few more SP campaigns as DLC's...

However, no points for multiplayer. A total and utter failure so far! DICE, if you think I will fork another £50 for BF 5 you can think again. Unless you properly fix this pronto!

And what is with the veeeerrrryyyyy looooong unlocks?!! It is too tedious, boring and if not fixed, is going to lose even more players.

I hit this guy running towards me with 5-7 LMG bullets he keeps running towards me and kills me with 1 pistol shot!!! WTF?!! This is supposed to be a game, an enjoyable activity... When you die 9 times out of 10 (probably more actually), it is tedious.

I am an very good CoD 4 player it is strange how bad I can be on BF4. Either PB is rubbish and these guys are cheaters or BF 4 is broken beyond repair!

I had big hopes, considering the big disappointment that CoD Ghosts is. But is not worth paying £50 for a very short SP game.

    I play BF online exclusively.

I love: The graphics; they're beautiful. I max out with a single GTX760, no SLI. The map sizes; so far they've been huge. "So far" because I can't stay on a server long enough to get a feel for the maps available but I'll get back to stability in a moment. The game play, imo, is the same as it ever was. The game play, imo, is the same as it ever was. I've been a fan of the BF franchise since BF1942 DEMO and having not played BF in 2 years (BFBC2 I never played 3) I was able to jump into BF4 and get straight to work with minimal drama.

    I hate:
Dependencies. There're too many nonsensical dependencies between me and the game. I click on the BF4 game icon in my start menu and the first thing that opens is Origin, then Firefox, then I get to using the server browser as it occurs on the website which takes a while before finally, The Game [datface.jpg]. Very wasteful and aggravating. What happens when the browser has a problem? No game. But I'm not trying to browse; I'm trying to play.

Immoderate capitalism. I paid about $100 for BF4 "Premium". I went online, chose a server and found myself in a queue. My position was 2 and beside that appeared "PREMIUM PRIORITIZED" or something to that effect which said to me that I'd been put ahead of someone else in line because I was "PREMIUM". This's a game, not a lesson in socioeconomics. I don't want to know that the server considers me a "preferred" player because I spent more money. Just put my arse in a queue and let's get it on already.

Instability! I can get in a good 7 minutes between CTD (crash[es] to desktop). It repeatedly crashes and on a couple of occasions I've fallen with bluescreens. I've been building my own PCs since 1997 and I've bluescreened about 4 times since 2002. Twice playing GTA3 (2002-video driver incompatibility) and twice over the past couple days wrestling with BF4 (BCCode: 1000007e). Not okay.

    Win 7x64 SP1, Xeon 1230 ver. 2 3.3GHz, 16GB, GTX 760

I know the game is till relatively new but I can't see this having been tested prior to release. QC was playing Bomberman 64 or something in the basement when they should've been testing. If I could play the game I'd have rendered of score of something like 8 or 9, I'm sure. In its present condition, however, this game is only worth a 6 7 at best.

I thought it will be hard to do a shooter better than BF3, but again I was wrong. Maps are great, graphic superb, I didn't notice any problems with balance finally it is possible for engineer to shoot a plane down (eventually). It is somewhat resource-hungry I had to lower my graphic settings slightly, but progress have its price. Graphic is still brilliant though. People saying that levolution is just a gimmick. Maybe it is but it is an awesome, jawdropping gimmick. On some maps it can completely change the course of the battle.
The low score is probably a result of people disappointed with a new CoD switched to Battefield and didn't find it to their taste (they get killed too often because of lack of tactical thinking and teamplay or they are focused on campaign mode).

Even the browser plug-in crashes requiring task manager to kill off the browser. If a lot of my friends weren't also playing I would have uninstalled this probably the same weekend I installed it.

There are audio issues like sound that cuts out, looping effects that won't ever stop for the duration of the map(The MCOM alarm on a conquest map is highly annoying), other random audio glitches like when you dive under water and come up and the sound is still muffled like you are under water still.

The scopes can become out of sync with the visuals so when you don't have the 2x zoom on its zoomed and when you do have it on its normal. Dieing is the only way to fix this issue. The hip fire reticle (on non-hardcore mode servers) just vanishes and reappears whenever it pleases.

The netcode is still abysmal and so far massively worse than BF3's from what I've seen. Even on servers with less than a 30ms ping.

Vehicle physics are a mess. Jeeps bounce like crazy. Jeeps can be flipped over, taken off jumps 50-60 feet in the air and take no damage, but hit something going faster than 10-20 mph and they explode. I'm talking like clip the front corner on a tree and it just explodes. Tanks have quite literally no weight. You can launch tanks 10-20 feet in the air off some pretty tiny bumps. You can damage a tank by driving a jeep full speed at either the back or front and send the tank sailing through the air over the top of the jeep (What?!). The three tanks in BF4 are about 50-60 tons, pretty sure that isn't going airborne off a crater in the road.

Anyone that bought it and comments on the single player is missing the point. That should really be seen as a new players tutorial than a stand-alone

This is playing on a machine that's a several thousand dollars so its not my hardware. Playing the game on a 2560x1440 resolution monitor on medium settings and you generally sit around the frame cap of 200FPS.

The campaign is just awful. It's more of the same "America Good Guys, other countries Bad Guys" that we've seen in other games. I would have rather had a campaign that actually allowed us to play on both sides of the conflict to actually see that the soldiers fighting for their banners were as human as the rest. Needless to say, I think I bailed from the Campaign about three quarters of the way through, because I was getting rather sick of it. It is quite literally the first game who's campaign I never completed.

As I said, I would be giving it a better score if I never played BF3, but as it stands, the game just feels like a moderate upgrade over the previous Battlefield.

I am trying to like this game but I am now starting to think this game is broken to it's core. EA is finally acknowledging that they have a problem as they have suspended all work on the DLC's to attempt to fix this game. I hope they can, but I doubt it.

    Major flaws -
*Continued crashes even after two patches. Not as frequent but still there. (I have a titan, i7, win 8 etc etc top of the line rig 6 months ago).
*Spawn problems, you have a black screen when you spawn where you cant do anything but others see you can kill you, leading to your death even before you "spawn".
*poor spawn locations ie Daybreak spawns you in the middle of the road which compounds the above problem.
*Lag in the servers that seems to increase the longer the games continues. Not sure if the net can handle all of the increased data due to Levolution. Was not a major issue in BF3 way worse in BF4. Being killed behind walls is way worse than BF3 especially after the china rising patch (for me anyway, starting to become unplayable).
*poor hit recognition not sure if this is due to the built in lag, but sometimes even a still target at close range can't be hit. (even after the patches see youtube)
*have not fixed the minor annoyances of BF3 ie rockets seem to disappear in air if the firer is killed before it hits the target. Almost impossible to shoot someone jumping over an object. Phantom walls/rocks which stop bullets. Phantom twigs on the ground which stop you in mid -sprint until you jump over it etc etc.
    * Major weapon rebalancing needs to be down Ie DMR useless at moment. Attack chopper useless (not a bad thing) This is no a big issue as it will be fixed over time as some weapons get nerfed or buffed.
*numerous other problems see youtube, reddit etc.

I still hold out hope this game will be fixed as I have loved all of the previous BF games, but still after 2 patches and almost two months this game is still broken. I still have to give this a 2 out of ten, but will happily change this when (fingers crossed) this is fixed. Previous review below.

"Great game, great maps, great concept, but mega fail on execution, think SimCity. Every second to third game, the servers crash, leading to mega frustration. Once they get the servers up and running will be a great game, but they had the same problem in the beta and still have not fixed it. I would recommend save your money for now and look at purchasing it post Christmas when it goes on sale."

I long for the days of BF2 when they had to return to a base to refuel and re-arm. The snipers are as usual a menace, which is why a lot of servers limit them. The initial bugs were annoying, with random crashes and connection errors. It shows a disrespect for delivering a quality assured product and a disrespect for the customer. This is the last time I support DICE.

I did not like CoD Ghosts, so I got BF4, however, after a few hours I threw it away. All around the net, ppl come saying its better than CoD, never saying its a diffrent game that plays completly diffrent. It is a personal opinion, still 2/10 for the nice graphics and Story Mode.

I have loved Battlefield for a long time, but now it is getting harder to deny that it has just become another EA cash crop. It is fun, but completely broken. Even when it works, it is just like 3. It is more of an expansion. I'm glad I only spent $30 but even then I wish I could actually play online. My score would be a bit higher if online was playable.

When i think about what has been done better comparing it to bf3 i can count the things on one hand.
    - the squad system and orders combined with the commander adds a little bit more tactical variation to the public games
    - the little "counts as kill" feature if you almost killed a player and he then is shot by somebody else feels good not to have your kill stolen
    - the weapon settings and customizations are more complex and versatile
    THATS IT

i wont list all of the bad things bf4 has introduced but just some major points
    - the whole design feels weaker than bf3 at least, like a bad f2p ripoff
    - vehecles and weapons also feel worse
    - maps are horrible

and to add a nice topping the game is litterally almost unplayable because of gliches, bugs and crashes.

please believe me and do yourself a favor and dont buy this

Maybe DICE will offer in the next part of the game to save the USA from attacking Canadians? And help them Russians and Chineses!?

Battlefield 4 hardly seems like an improvement but the game is still fun to play if your one of the few not experiencing any problems. On PC, or on mine at least, the graphics look really good. Better than the their current gen console counterparts though I can't talk for next gen since I've yet to experience it.

Campaign: What can I say.... it just sucks. We all know the campaign in these games are usually not good and this game is an example of that. Most of the time you can hardly care less about what's going on and you'll just want to get through the campaign already. To make matters worse, the devs decided to put some multiplayer unlockables in the campaign, meaning you have to play it if you want certain items or guns in the multiplayer. The story itself is just boring and part of that is how you, the main character, is poorly done. You never talk during the game which would be fine if you weren't the squad leader for the majority of the game. Often times you'll get scenes like a commander saying, "I'll answer to the squad leader only" and yet your companions will end up doing the talking for you like your a new trainee just learning the ropes and following along yet your suppose to be veteran and the leader.

Multiplayer: Of you've played Battlefield 3 then you'll know what to expect. Same classes are there though some items have been mixed around. Really like that they added stats to the weapons and actually categorized so if you want a submachine gun you can just go to that. One big drawback that I don't understand why they didn't add it to the game is being able to customize your loadout while waiting for the next game. It doesn't make sense to do it while playing since you rather be playing and helping out your team rather than take time to change your loadout when you could've done it before the game started. The maps are pretty well done though, ranging from big vehicle maps to smaller no vehicles map yet big enough to accommodate a 32 and even 64 man matches.

Biggest problem so far that everyone is mad about are the bugs and crashes that happened during launch. It is really unacceptable especially considering that they've had to delayed their first DLC, though I don't know why there's already a DLC, but the fact that it's been delayed shows how not ready the game was from being released. I can only recommend this game if you manage to get it for cheap like I did for 20$ and if your into FPS were sometimes you just want to jump in and experience some high action shooting.

There are many great improvements over Battlefield 3: the graphics and sound are better, the interface has been improved and you can now select spawn locations by clicking on the map with the mouse. The best change in my opinion is that most of the maps are great. To be frank, most of the maps in Battlefield 3 were terrible. There are so many great maps here and there is a good mix of large open fields, islands and buildings. Parcel Storm in particular is really great and reminds me of Invasion of the Philippines from Battlefield 1942. The weather even changes, forcing large waves and gusty winds. Flood Zone is also good but to be honest, once the water level rises, it does get a bit ridiculous as the match turns into a swim- a-thon rather than a battle. Other maps such as Rogue Transmission and Lancang Dam are also great and improve upon the let downs that Battlefield 3 presented.
In all, Battlefield 4 improves Battlefield 3 in almost every way. Sure, it may seem a bit of a stretch to pay full price for a game that seems to be very similar to its predecessor. But the many subtle improvements make it a great purchase. Once the wrinkles are ironed a little further, this will be a truly great online FPS game. Its even better optimised that Battlefield 3 too and runs flawlessly on my laptop!

Some things I have noticed.

    - Same bugs exist upon release that has been in every game release. Glitches that manipulate leaderboards, repair bugs, one hit bugs, sound bugs. All have been in previous releases so why not expect they would be in a new one before releasing it.

    - AIRCRAFT- Stealth Aircraft. (1) Aircraft period take far to long to respawn. well over 3 minutes. If you like to fly you get autokicked for being idle. (2) Flares/ECM virtually useless. There is virtually no lockon warning before your sent to the ground in a fireball. (3) WAY TO MUCH AA. You can't go anywhere on a map without some form of AA shooting you down. In a combat situation missle reload times far to long. Decrease the time or make more of that weapon available such as BF2 had. (4) Stealth Aircraft has the worst gun site in the game I believe. U have barely a little dot in the hud that is hidden by the flight indicator making tracking virtually impossible. You have a better chance of hitting in an external view. Thats just the jets, lets go to a battlefield favorite!!

    The Helo's. In particular the
    - ATTACK HELO. Was an awsome model from games past. Little or no armor against any form of AA. And the gunner is as useless as its weapons seem to be. Guns, just as the Stealth Aircraft take far to long to reload. TV missles! Every Helo Pilots faveorite weapon to seat switch into has been nerfed so bad that it cant destroy a thing. And by a think I mean a fence. WTF!

Any and ALL Armor is way overpowered. Have put 4 SMAW on target yielding mayby 50% damage. If that and trying to run and gun against that is crazy.

Ok the Kits. Seems the the Assauly kit is WAY TO OVERPOWERED. One shot kills while using seem to be the motto in every server I go into. Weapons are overpowered compared to the other kits.

Rarely get hit markers on anything. I Have put full clips into targets, many at close range and didnt get one hit marker yet one shot later im dead.

Quite honestly I think I have finally gave in with this game. Ready to leave the gaming clan and quit playing altogether because of this game. Its frusterating going into a game that constantly crashes, or has more bugs than my backyard or all the horrible critiques and messages everywhere that DICE still wont fix the game. Instead they try to dress it up with a horrible DLC (China Rising) Addressed nothing, fixed nothing. You added a few new maps, a couple POS gadgets and think thats what we want?? Maps alone would be fine if you listened to the gaming community and fixed the game. I would really like all the money I have spent on this game from the Premium Membership to the Digital Deluxe version just refunded but that like hoping this game would be fixed is just a dream. Now while Im sure there will no doubt be a lot of Die Hard BF fans reading this, and I assure you I have been one since BF2 that they will say "Well, go play Call of Duty"! Ide say gladly. I have had all there games and they were tested right and release will little or no bugs. So DICE, take a page from their books. They obviously are doing something right. This game gets the lowest mark in history from me. Im ashamed to be a Battlefield fan after purchasing and playing this game.

I wouldn't worry about "having to be online to play single player", because the single player is kind of garbage anyways. Forcing players to use a website AND origin instead of an executable client is a joke. The minor advantages of this far outweigh the negatives. Steam users be aware that integration with steam/steam overlay is difficult and nearly impossible.

The dedicated servers are not maintained by the developers. There are frequent crashes, mostly due to the abysmal optimization for PC, which was supposed to be a key seller over COD. Honestly expect to be disconnected or experience a DirectX/driver crash once every three games. But hey, who cares? PS4 is where all the money's at, right?!

The gameplay itself is so-so. Modes like Conquest capture the feeling of a large battle excellently. However, I realize that the game itself is only a few months old, and improvements will be made over time. The effort made in cross-platforming with Commander Mode of tablets is ambitious and worthy of applause.

I usually find Metacritic reviews to be pretty accurate but in this case they couldn't be further from the truth. BF4 isn't only good its amazing. The graphics create a beautiful realistic world and the frost 3 engine lets you destroy it. Obviously, I'm speaking of the multiplayer, the campaign is a different "story" if you can call it that.

The largest complaint I can muster is the campaign. It is clear that Dice gave little of the budget to this team of developers. The campaign is so poorly structured that you can go through most of the story not even completely knowing why you doing what your doing. The missions are short and extremely easy. However, The graphics like the multiplayer are awesome. Like every BF game, the sound effects are top notch. Another common point made by some of our home office critics is the buggy multiplayer. For anyone who has been around BF for a while this shouldn't be a surprise. In fact, every single BF ever released has had the same issues. These issues are annoying but are usually fixed in a timely manner. As far as servers are concerned, you can't blame dice for faulty servers. These are publicly made and dice has little control over the quality. Really, its up to use the players to screen the servers before we join. In other words, if the server status is dodgy then maybe you should try a different one.

I know I raved about this game, however I can't see a rating higher then a 8. The campaign is the real buzz kill and Dice should either produce quality or do away with this feature all together. Personally, I'll pay just as much for a multiplayer only.

Honestly, the multiplayer is barely playable at times and is so glitchy with rubber banding and kicks that it has been virtually unplayable most of the time. Perhaps it would be wise to wait at least another couple of months before you look into getting BF4. Also, single player was very average and lacked any depth in my humble opinion. Either way, don't buy it for this platform until it is fixed. Expand

Don't waste your money. The multi-player is horrible, and the campaign is worse. You'll be thrown into objective after objective, with no real teamwork going on, and you'll be left trying to do everything yourself. The people that really seem to enjoy this game are those that either buy the premium to get the weapons and upgrades, or the people that are die-hard DICE fans.

Ok so Battlefield 4 is great if you have friends who you can play with. If you don't have friends then it's not that great. Graphics are awesome and all that but the biggest problem is that when you want to play the game there is a 50% chance that EA servers are down or just some other problem. If it didn't have those problems I would rate it 8/10.

The game earns 3 out of 10 points solely through the efforts of map designers. Everything else is crap and need to be fixed. This game have no pause option (hello dreamhack), crappy game balance, creepy spectators mode, a lots of network bugs. All of this make this game unplayable and certainly not worthy $100

The single player is actually not that bad, compared with the disastrous single player portion of FPS games released in the recent years. But for a huge number of players who bought this game for the multiplayer, bugs, bad programming really pushes the limit off the cliff...

Improved gun-play over BF3 and slightly better visuals with well designed maps make this a nice buy. On the downside, you have to go online to play single player and the servers aren't very stable. The game also have frequent crashes which set back progress. This would be an 8 or 9 if these issues were not present.

Not only is the game full of bugs, not only does it crash CONSTANTLY, it just isn't interesting anymore! Take graphics out of the equation, by far the best in this series has been Battlefield 2. Everything that has come after that has been absolute rubbish.

EA & Dice have been taking us for a ride for far too long. I'm kinda glad I only paid $32.00 for this game, as anything more would just be an insult and highway robbery.

Despite this game being out for almost a month now, Dice and EA have done very little to attempt balancing the air vehicles.

The stealth jet is only decent at taking out other air vehicles. Like don't even bother attacking ground targets. You are better off ramming a tank with your jet, bailing out, and hitting it with infantry launchers. Eve his role of air superiority is a joke. Two of the jets can barely out maneuver the ground attack jets, and the third (the SU-50) can out turn all other aircraft at almost a 2:1 rate.

The ground attack jets are overpowered. They kill the stealth jets (supposedly their counter) in less than 1 second. The only exception is the SU-50 which can literally fly circles around you. Their main cannon is so deadly against ground vehicles that it is pointless to even swap to a secondary. In fact the only excuse to use rocket pods is to kill infantry. Ground based counters are ineffective against attack jets just like BF3, jets (attack or SU-50) are the only vehicle that can kill an ace jet. Even with longer countermeasure cool downs you can still just retreat to your (fully automated computer controlled) stationary AA and it will kill anything (even a TV missile) on your tail.

Little bird helicopters with 2 engineers repairing are nigh indestructible. Granted, you will spend most of yo r time disabled due to lockon spam, so getting kills can be challenging. But yo. Basically can only be killed by the MAA, a jet ram, or a dumbfire infantry weapon. Even fighting another littlebirdis more often a stalemate than not.

Don't even bother getting in an attack helicopter. With every missile hit causing you to lose lift and rudder control, combined with the fact that missiles have a knock-over effect, even a single hit (that still ignores flares from time to time) usually results in a crash and death.

With air vehicles so crippled, ground vehicles basically run amok. The mobile Anti aircraft vehicle is more often either lobbing missiles that have unlimited range across the map from their base (effectively), or roaming the field with AA dumbfire rockets that decimate infantry in droves. Tanks are not OP, but unkillable basically because their counter (the attack helicopter) is so gimped that it either has to camp on the deployment doing nothing, or go down in seconds as it's used as transport t a flag.

Basically, battlefield has become the new call of duty. The same regurgitated garbage in a flashy new bugged package with weapon systems so dumbed down that your dog could probably effectively use them.

Skill is not welcome in this game. Rip good first person shooters.

Battlefield 4 is the latest but not greatest addition to the battlefield series by EA/Dice. The game is a FPS shooter with vehicles at your disposal with the addition of “commander mode”. The classes and guns are similar to battlefield 3, and the maps are better designed. The shooting mechanics and graphics are solid, however, this is really the only highlight of the game. There are many problems with performance such as glitches, crashes, frame rate drops, I have a gtx 770 oc, i5 processor, 8gb ram. I should be able to max this game out, but I can’t because doing so would make the game crash more often than not and slow the frame rate down to a crawl in some areas of the map. There are endless bugs which are not being patched soon enough, I have 20 hours in this game, so far I have experienced sound loops and muting, freezing, being stuck and unable to move and whats worse is that some of these bugs are similar to battlefield 3.
The “levelution” idea seems great on paper, but impractical in reality since it’s triggered at the start of most games (apart from parcel storm) and only really makes a significant change to a small portion of the map, it’s essentially a gimmick. The commander mode requires you to be at a certain level, and even then most matches are one sided with one team having a commander and the other team doesn’t since commanders can call in gunships or call in missiles at any point of the map. This significantly unbalances the game as there is no AI to take over as commander. Vehicles handle the same as bf3 but there are some nerfs to the tanks with the addition of ammunition on the main cannon.
I will forever be against “premium”, mainly because of the fact that it was advertised before the game was even out, and gives an unfair advantage to queue jump making joining popular servers and playing with friends near impossible. And the weapons you get from premium will give players a significant advantage over those who didn’t buy into the DLC.
If you are looking for a game which made a significant improvement on graphics, gameplay style and performance than battlefield 3, this is not it and it would be best to stick with battlefield 2 or 2142.

I tried it and I saw it already from the beginning what it tried to do. I am specifically talking here about "single player" campaign. Perhaps multiplayer is more engaging, but I will specifically focus here on single player mode. The game tries, from the beginning, desperately to engage you emotionally, but it fails with boring non engaging dialog that lacks any depth or feeling. Then they try desperately to fill out your screen with like explosions, flying particles, wind, flying bullets everywhere, and gorgeous graphics, just to make you occupied with and stuff. I admit that it looks beautiful, especially outside in the open landscape. But there is little freedom in the game and it is heavily scripted and you get the feeling of being "directed" "hold in the hand" most of the time. This make game boring because they even deny you the illusion of freedom. The game is boring and non engaging and won't make you feel better that you were that sucker that payed 60 bucks or more for the game that is broke beyond any repair. Single player is also fun but I am not to far in it yet as I keep getting drawn back in to multiplayer. Levolution is awesome. Haven't had the "bugs some people talk about. PIcked up the game recently with the Premium membership. Campaign is leaving a lot left to be desired. Usual suspects you've all heard, hit detection issues, AI issues, etc etc...it doesn't matter. Nobody plays BF for the single player story line. I logged 200+ hours on BF3, I was a tournament BF 1942 player, I know the mechanics of BF very well. It takes far too many successful shots to take someone down, other than that..this game is superb. The sound on my surround system performs excellent. Feels like I'm on the ground fighting. Love the Multi, love the new menu's and systems. Nothing even comes close to this game out there. Never played a better FPS my whole life, and I've played FPS titles more than half my lifetime pretty much daily. CoD has never come close to comparable, and BF4 just widened that gap. CoD is for children and chumps. BF series are a man's game. Expand

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
