This game has the most intense, immersive graphical experience in a game Ive ever witnessed. By far its the best BF and FPS Ive ever played. Im sorry some are having issues but Ive played a week without any. Its unusual for me to back a game so highly but when that storm rolls in on "Paracel" I just sit there stunned. Ive never seen, or heard, anything like it before.

There is a great game under this technical disaster though.Lots of small improvements over its predecessor. Commander is not very good though. Lots of content in the multiplayer. Some excellent maps: Flood Zone and Paracel Storm are probably my favorites. Most maps work great with 64 players with lots of vehicles. Rush is bad. TDM and Domination are great for infantry only combat.

If only this game was in a healthy state, it would be worth around 9.

I literally can't play the game right now. I'm at a known glitch/bug in the game where I can't even progress in single player. So, I got onto multiplayer, and I can't even play because it automatically crashes 30 seconds into any match. It's happened 4 times back to back, I have a top-notch computer and all the drivers.

DICE are a crap studio, and they make crap games. They used to make good games, however. The original run of Battlefield games on the PC were entirely different creatures than this new style, and this new style isn't worth half of the original. It's cheap, it's simplistic, it's boring. DICE, these days, are also terrible at map design and UI design. DICE, throughout their history, have been repeated sell-outs, evidently not actually caring one bit about the games they make. As far as I can see, it's all just looking for money with them, and their messed up priorities has caused them to make much less than they otherwise would have. Selling to EA for $5 million right before Battlefield 2's launch? Holy, holy cow. They were too inexperienced and unaccustomed to money and got way to excited at a terrible, terrible, terrible offer, and they jumped on it. Since then, I think they've been desperate to make up some of the massive revenue that they know they lost, and just keep on making highly bad decisions, one after another. They also are one of the worst companies when it comes to releasing stable products. Every release of theirs is drowning in bugs and issues. And they never care, and never improve they actually just keep getting worse. Terrible company, boring game. Expand

I wanted to love this game, battlefield is like crack to me, still get my fix online, but single player needed alot more work. Dice should re evaluate for the future before passing off another single player that doesnt make the grade.. The game is better without it (but who buys battlefield for single player anyways...and we know why...)

It seems like EA Dice has learned a few marketing Techniques from Infinity Wards Call of Duty series. This game is basically Battlefield 3 repackaged but worse... a least for now (Read why below)

It seems like EA Dice has learned a few marketing Techniques from Infinity Wards Call of Duty series. This game is basically Battlefield 3 repackaged but worse... a least for now (Read why below)

Single Player: When the game came out Single Player and even Multiplayer were unplayable due to unforgivable optimization on the pc port. Now after a few days it has been fixed (to an extent) but still experiance Lag spikes from Video and internet (Battle log). The Single player experiance is no different from your average War shooter but it feels like Michael Bay had directed it. Too many explosions is sometimes a bad thing especially for an Average gamer PC. There isn't really any story to follow just a forgettible experiance we all played before.

Multiplayer: EA Dice claims that this is a new FrostBite Engine however there doesn't seem to be any noticable differences I guess another marketing technique. The UI for your loadouts have changed into four weapon sections one of them being unique to the class you choose. The game is unstable filled with Server Lag Rubberbanding and stutters. A more common issue is the constant crashing which they still have not fixed yet in this game. If multiplayer worked out smoothly I would give this game a point. One thing I noticed is that DICE has a thing for Tanks. Each map has an abundance of tanks leaving infantry warfare meaningless especially when Engineer can barely do any damage to any armored vehicle because Dice removed Weak points. One of my biggest concerns are the Map Design. This guy needs to be kicked off the team because these maps are tiny especially on a 64 man server with an abundance of armored vehicles besides that the maps are 60% water based maps... Really Dice? A nice addition is the Dynamic Maps that change the battlefield throughout the game and the return of Commander mode wich was popular in BF2 and 2142.

Im giving this game untill the next expansion and if it suprises me it would get a 8/10 but for now the six seems generous.

    Pros: Commander Mode Returns!
    Dynamic Environments
    64 player match ups
    Free expansion on pre-order
    New Obliteration Mode

    Cons: Forgetful Single Player
Really Poor Optimization (Worse then the Beta)
No in Game Server Browser (Just Web client)

Randomly people will not get rewarded with experience after the game has ended, either.
I can see other peoples reviews where they say the "audio is top class, perfect" and such.
I can count at least two maps where the sound just cuts out in the middle of the map.

Yes, the game has it's positive sides. But for me, there's too much bugs to be squashed,
balancing to be done, and fine-tuning to be done before it can come close to being all-round
confortable to play. Just my two cents worth.

Back when BF3 was released I rated it a 6 I believe. I went on to put in around 1400hrs into that game. It wasn't until they fixed *most* of the problems did I find enjoyment playing BF3. It took months to nearly a year before weapon balance (which still is kinda a joke but not so much so as it used to be) was fixed, crashes were resolved (game hasn't crashed in over a year for me), and other bugs, i.e. underslung dart bug, were resolved. These fixes saved BF3 in my opinion but I can only speak as an infantry player. I don't know about balance in regards to vehicles (though I've heard the tanks were nerfed). What also kept me playing BF3, and still does, was the "feel" of the game. I liked the fluidity of the game, the gun mechanics, etc.
What I liked about BF3 is absent in BF4. The game feels stiff. The gun mechanics dumbed down. Seriously, just looking at my stats, my avg accuracy is much higher in BF4 than in BF3. It wasn't terrible in BF3, avg was 19% but in BF4 its nearly 22%. Why? Because weapon recoil is so easy to control you can snipe people with ARs. Weapons also feel like toy guns rather than the beasts from BF3. My second gripe comes from the perk system. Holy jesus what were they thinking. In BF3 each person in a squad could select a perk that gave all people in the squad said perk. Ideally, you'd want to get in a squad with people who ran different perks. This worked out most of time because you could just jump to a squad or change your own. When people didn't bother to change theirs you could kick them from squad if you were the squad leader or just jump to another squad in hopes of being able to get better perks. In other words, you had more control over your perks. In BF4 you know have to rely on pubbies to actually play as a squad to get your perks through a progression bar but if you've every played BF4 with random pubbies you know that most BF players have downs. They will not do anything squad oriented and thus you are out of luck if you wish to play with perks. Not only is this frustrating but instead of picking your perk now you have to pick a pre-defined perk tree. Want cover and sprint? Ha, not going to happen. Want cover, ammo, sprint? (the essentials) Not going to happen. In BF3 my k/d was over 3. In BF4 my k/d is just under 2. Why? Because in BF3 spawns were eventually fixed and you didnt have people spawning directly behind you on flags. In domination mode in BF4 people will spawn directly behind you. For example, let's say your team has two of the three flags. Where oh where will the enemy team spawn? You'd think at or behind their flag right? Nah, on one of your flags, and most likely behind the line that you and your team has created to defend it. Completely unforgivable design problem that should have been addressed long ago. I could go on about the shortcomings of this game and I could go into all the crashes (server/client side), the joining server bugs (black screen that eventually just disconnects you but won't let you terminate the process) or any of the other bugs I'm too lazy to go into. This game will be "ok" in a few months once they fix problems but as a whole the new mechanics are really what bring the game down. Certain things weren't perfect in BF3 (perks for example) but now they went ahead and made it even more broken. I bought this game on release (didnt preorder) with hesitation and I should have probably not bought it till it dropped in price. Now I almost feel forced to play it so I can at least get something for my money. Big disappointment.

This game has been a blast. It is refining the way video games are nowadays. Now this game is the definition of "next-gen".
They fixed a lot of the problems of Battlefield 3 such as balancing, WAY better map design, more modes, bigger maps, more destructibility. With these fixes, I had such a more enjoyable time than the previous great Battlefield 3.

The only downside of this great game is the technical issues alongside. Frequent crashes, optimization, and server failures have disappointed me. Its always scary getting a good score cause you never know if the game might crash and you can lose all that hard earned XP or even possibly guns! I know they rushed out this game, but these are the most important parts of the game: Making sure the game is made correctly!

When it works, it works great, though for most people, it's not working which means when it works for you, in game half of your teammates are p'd off from crashing or being sniped from within a building, so they aren't in a good mood to work with you on any objectives. If this were working properly, it would ALMOST be as good as Battlefield 2 (I don't compare to BF3, which was made for the limited resources and attention spans of consoles and console gamers). I am unable to even finish the campaign in the mean time as that crashes constantly as well. This game should have been tested much more thoroughly. This is becoming a bad trend in gaming. Just like Total War Rome 2 and many other games, the early adopters are the beta testers. I've learned my lesson about buying games at launch for the time being. It's a couple weeks after launch and you would think the major issues would be ironed out. I put the game down for over a week thinking they would have hammered out the main issues, but it's just as bad as when it launched. They have not issued a client side patch (rumor is that they have to wait on the consoles review period for updates.) Do yourself a favor and wait, though I do recommend that you eventually pick it up, when you can play it is a blast.

The graphics is much better than Battlefield 3, and finally the maps aren't just 50 shades of blue. Sound is still in a class of it's own. DICE has reintroduced Commander mode, squad leaders aren't a joke, and a commo rose that works. Changes to the server listing in Battelog means it's quite feasible to run settings close to classic Battlefield without having issues with filling it up.

So on paper, there's a lot to look forward to. But both single player and multiplayer are almost completely ruined by a few but very important core issues. Note I do not mention co-op because Battlefield 4 has no co-op, a surprising and sad move in my opinion.

In the case of the single player it's the story. Sure it's a corridor shooter, but even those can be interesting if the story is good, for example like Spec Ops: The Line or Medal of Honor (2010). While the story in Battlefield 4 isn't as bad as in Battlefield 3, it is not a whole lot better. It contains a handful of bland characters doing things that make no sense, with tons of boring cut scenes and highly predictable plot devices. By trying to make the story as "epic" as possible DICE has completely lost sight of what makes a good and engaging story. In the end the single player is a boring interactive movie which you grudgingly grind through just to unlock a few weapons for the multiplayer.

Now, singleplayer is one thing, but what keeps people player Battlefield has always been it's multiplayer. With gorgeous visuals, rich and engaging sound scape it's hard not to be impressed, even after playing Battlefield 3. However there are a couple of things which are essential to a good multiplayer shooter, and as Team Fortress 2 shows, it's not super-realistic graphics.

The basics are gun play and netcode. Sadly Battlefield 4 fails miserably in both categories. First, the direction the bullets travel and the direction the barrel is pointing are just vaguely correlated in Battlefield 4. Players who are good at controlling the recoil and keeping the aim on target will be punished. Snipers who are quick to react and get the crosshairs back on target will miss. This creates a serious disconnect with the weapons. Add the toned-back-but-still-present suppression effect and you often find yourself thinking you're shooting blanks.

Worse is the netcode. DICE has finally come out and said that improving the netcode is a high priority for them. However the issues that plagues Battlefield 4 has consistently plagued Frostbite games since Bad Company 2. They've had 4 PC shooters using the Frostbite engine with the exact same issues. In my view the most frustrating issues are client-side hit detection and broken chronology, meaning you get hit and die from someone you haven't seen shooting yet, who is pointing a completely different direction or is behind a wall. They are somewhat intertwined, but Bad Company 2 had chronology issues yet with server-side hit detection.

The netcode issues affects vehicles as well. Lock-on warnings which sound immediately before the rocket hits, etc.

With the absolutely fundamental issues more or less completely broken, it's a real struggle to have any fun playing multiplayer. If you just want to sit on a hill, have a few beers and take potshots at the enemy running around some flag then it's not half bad. But it is very far away from being a serious shooter.

Which is sad in a way, as one easily senses there's a lot one could like about Battlefield 4 had it not had vinegar all over it.

Good improvement from Battlefield 3 there are some crashing issues which are most likely going to be solved at some point. unfortunately this game is distributed by Origin so if Origin refuses to work you can just go to your local physical games distributor and buy it there. Also the server disconnecting issues were solved at a recent patch so yay!

I do not talk about multiplayer. It doesn't exist yet. Netcode was written in late 90s. Still remains unchanged. Since game launch developers did not care about anything. They appeared only once, when ALL servers were crashing every 5 minutes.

Want to play good game? Look elsewehere. Want to play multiplayer? Look elsewhere. Want to spend all evening raging because game doesn't work? That's your game! Buy it now!

This game is great...when it doesn't crash.

The gameplay is great. I actually do love it. But there's nothing more frustrating than playing an entire round, having a great round, and then getting disconnected from the server and losing all the XP you would have had. It's happened to me more times than I want to admit. I've probably only received credit for around 60% of the matches

That was after three days after launch of being unable to log in. There was no help on the forums, either. I eventually had to figure out on my own what the problem was as to why the Battlelog site wouldn't start the game.

This will be a fun game when they get the disconnection problems fixed. Until then I'll play CoD and get griefed by all the hackers. At least it doesn't disconnect me.

Granted my GPU memory is only 2Gb but I meet the recommended system requirements by far and my issues don't seem to be related to my hardware. I still get a lot of input lag and the frequent crashes wouldn't be quite so bad if they didn't make you lose all of the progress for that round. I spent 45 minutes playing a round trying to level my pistols and I got maybe 12 pistol kills which was enough to unlock more add-ons for that pistol as well as a new pistol. In literally the last minute of the game, it crashed and I lost all my progress. This happens about 1 in 3 games to 1 in 4 games and is very frustrating. My score will be based on all the technical problems that have not been addressed properly since the beta.

Single player hasn't grabbed me in any special way and so far its been almost pulling teeth to play it. I'd like to see them make missions that teach you how to use all of the classes and the vehicles instead of throwing a very derivative story at you. Put us through boot camp and teach us the strategy proper way to utilize the environment and items. I am glad that they included the test range where you are able to try out all of the vehicles and all of your unlocked weapons on some static and some moving targets. It is definitely a nice addition to those new to the series.

As far as the multiplayer goes, it's Battlefield and all the good and bad that people are familiar with are present. I was hoping that by now, people wouldn't be able to magically enter and exit their vehicle making it a little harder to take drivers and pilots out when they are standing next to a vehicle one second and magically appear inside the next. When you're trying to take out vehicles with jets or helicopters, it can be tiresome to do pass after pass while the drivers simply hop out in a half a second and repair their vehicle while you wait for your weapons to reload.

Things do feel a little better balanced than BF3 and they removed the horrible suppression feature that got out of hand in BF3. Well, it is actually there still but people are not as affected they were and the only time you get very suppressed is by LMGs.

The maps are my major gripe with the game. I just don't care about any of them. Usually there is at least one that is just great and everyone plays but none of the maps have that special something and in fact I very much dislike a few of the maps. I really enjoyed the maps in Battlefield 3, especially when they included the BF2 maps in DLC. If they don't offer some good new maps in DLC very soon, I can see the game getting old very quickly.

Overall it's fun and they've added somewhat enough that it doesn't just feel like Battlefield 3.5 even though at times it does. This series seems to be moving closer to the console market in every new iteration. You level much faster in this game than Battlefield 2 and maybe even Battlefield 3. I really hope they don't turn the series into Madden or COD with a new throw away game you play for a few months and wait for the next years game. If the game worked a little better and had less frustrating issues, I'd probably give it an 8. If this game doesn't release some good DLC soon, I can't imagine the game will have the staying power that Battlefield series has had in the past.

It could sound like a joke, but my review is Campaign-focused.

The game can have two praised features. It could be an entertainment and/or art. Only latter could be given to BF4. While the graphics and sounds are far superior to what we are seeing nowadays, then such thing has huge price: a gameplay value. Not everyone has access to the Internet at all times and many people (I included) care a lot about campaign. Unfortunately, BF4 has identical flaws to the predecessor in this regard. Single Player Campaign is short, forgettable and full of painful scripts. Well, I know it's FPS and I shouldn't expect a long-lasting action competing with any Grand Theft Auto's storyline, but please; if I am a noob amongst plenty of skilled players, then I would really like to enjoy the game alone. Playing against computer does not frustrate and an interesting story would really aid in keeping me playing.

If you read other player's reviews about multiplayer, you'll understand why BF4 is over-hyped, that's why I skipped it.

We live in a time where there is great cynicism and hate towards shooters, especially military style shooters such as this. I'm just a person on the sidelines who doesn't care and tries to enjoy video games for what they are, rather than dwelling on what was made in the past. I loved Battlefield since the beginning, but times change, and perhaps for the worse for some people, but for the better for others. Who is to say what's right or not anymore? It's all up to all of you to decide for yourselves if you like a game or not, and if you are mad that your money didn't go to something functional or to your liking, then I understand.

I personally would blame EA, if blame is really neccesary in this situation. EA clearly wants to compete against the Call of Duty franchise creators, Infinity Ward, and DICE was under heavy pressure to do certain things or rush a product out. It can't be any coincidence that Call of Duty Ghosts released so near the release date of Battlefield 4. DICE CARES about their games and feedback, because they are working on a patch right now to fix client side crashing and game instability. They already FIXED the server crashing problems, at least from what I can tell.

Now, the singleplayer. In all honesty, the singleplayer is a fairly big improvement over Battlefield 3's dismal and minimalistic campaign. We can all agree Battlefield 3's campaign, even if it had its moments, was quite lacking. For Battlefield 4, however, we have a few epic moments, with some emotional bits here and there, with generally good voice acting. The combat is rewarding with a new multiplayer style scoring system with leaderboards, and enemies seem to react to your fire especially when you use the "Engage" ability which is a nice touch that makes it feel a tiny bit more tactical. When you use it, the allies that follow you all throughout the game will immediately focus their fire on one or more targets. Said allies are actually not spouting military jargon all the time, and instead are quite a bit more human in their conversations or banter. It's shocking that this would happen in a Battlefield campaign, I know, but I liked "Irish" the most, who has a voice actor that puts on a GREAT performance. The singleplayer has some good bits to it, including collectable/unlockable weapons you can equip/unequip at Bad Company 2 style weapon lockers. There are, shockingly enough, moments where you can either choose stealth or to go in gun's blazing. Overall, it's honestly not THAT bad and hardly that painful, and I reccomend it for shooter fans. I know I'm a shooter fan, regardless of if it is a military shooter or not! We even get fairly big, non linear combat areas at times where you can choose how to approach a combat situation.

Sadly, the singleplayer is weighed down by AI that seems to work, but then falls apart at other times. Even on hard mode, the campaign is too darn easy, and I found myself only dying because the damage enemies do is increased. The game is also hurt by the usual military shooter tropes, such as healthregeneration, and lack of meaningful area exploration. The story, oh man, isn't anything to write home about, but at least the presentation is there!

In conclusion, the singleplayer isn't terrible at all. I have no clue what anyone is talking about anymore... even the critics. I mean, we GET some things that make it so much better anyway such as a scoring system and collectable/unlockable weapons with a few open areas like Bad Company 2's campaign. Really how else could they of made it? Like FarCry 3?! There are only so many ways you can make a military shooter campaign, really now!

As for the multiplayer. Oh boy. Disregard the crashing or server problems, because THOSE WILL BE FIXED... it is an absolutely addictive, complete, and epic experience. In terms of audio and visual qaulity, it's stunning. In terms of immersion and gunplay, it's stunning. In terms of epic situations, that quite frankly, only happen in Battlefield 4, it's stunning! We get 10 maps, which is a juicy amount, with each supporting quite a few game modes. Some of the game modes are a bit flawed, but for the most part, I have a great time on them, and all of them are beautiful! Except Operation Locker, that map is awful, which I'd call the new "Metro" map! There really isn't much else to say. We have new "Battlepacks", which make ranking up even more rewarding and fun, and tons of accesories, upgrades, and whatnot for EVERYTHING. Even vehicles have camos now you can customize!

To summarize for the TL;DR crowd. Battlefield 4 has a modestly okay campaign, with an even more complete multiplayer! Not a bad game.

Currently the game has quite a few problems, and yeah the campaign is pretty plot-empty and boring, but the multi-player experience is as fun as ever.

The only problems I really have in multi-player are the many spots players can camp and how unbalanced the maps are for certain game levels (but not for Conquest).

Campaign isn't exactly spectacular but that shouldn't be a surprise tho i enjoyed it bit more that BF3. Dice should have enough tools in their hands to force players to do some teamwork, that shouldnt be too hard for them but at the moment its not exactly a goal but playing with decent crew on your own might change it easily. There are other things thet could be considered annoying but to be honest i consider them my personal issues as i might not like them but i dont see them affecting the bigger picture on its own game itself is great playground.

Tho what really annoys me is that every time when some kind of sequel is being released, bunch of guys show up and start talking about how great last part was and how crappy the new one is and it happens over and over again. Whining at its best:). I'd ignore most of the negative reviews, few of them consists any decent critics. That's why i've given 10/10 tho more realistic would be 8/10.

Multiplayer isn't much better either. After 10 hours in the multiplayer, I have noticed that almost everything in the game is pretty much an instant kill, doesn't matter what gun you use, you just can't beat your opponents. The game is severly unbalanced and the map design is terrible. We were promised so much by EA and DICE and we payed them good money (Some people even pre-payed for PREMIUM bring the bill to $110) but what do we as consumers get in return for staying loyal to the series? Another slap in the face by EA and their greedy higher ups because once again, I feel that EA only cares about getting money and not trying to push its developers for good quality games. I don't care if you disagree with me on this, but from EA's recent history with their games from Battlefield to Need For Speed, they just keep screwing sh*t up.

EA and DICE should really see from a consumer standpoint on how bad they are doing because people like myself are getting tired of screw up after screw up and soon enough, EA is not going to be making money because they have dissapointed their consumers too much.

Seeing a glorious fully-loaded Conquest battle play out remains as exciting as BF1942, with aircraft, tanks, jeeps and boats all duking it out while infantry takes the battle indoors. There is nothing more exciting than sneaking C4 onto an enemy tank, or having a friendly jet swoop in out of nowhere to smoke the enemy helo that was about to shred you to pieces. Gameplay is not really all that different from BF3, but certain things such as progression and controls have been refined. And, needless to say, the graphics have gotten an upgrade which is actually a bad thing for players with PS3's, 360's, or older PCs. The Frostbite engine has gotten a new revision for this title, and it shows, both in terms of graphics and in terms of demands on your machine. Comparison videos of 360 vs PC are almost comical, and the minimum specs for the PC version marches on as always. The gap between the old consoles and a high-end PC has never been wider, and if you aren't going to upgrade to a PS4 or Xbox One, or upgrade your PC rig, I suggest you stay away from this title. Seriously: there is no reason anyone should ever buy the PS3 or 360 version of this game! You have been warned!

As always, this is a team-oriented game. Even in Deathmatch mode. People who prefer lone-wolf bunny-hopping DM with no strategy or VoIP required might want to check out a certain other FPS franchise which also released its newest version recently... Ball of Dooty, Fall of Booty, something like that I think.

Anyway, the king of the game remains Conquest, same as any other entry of the (non-BC) Battlefield series. This is the mode where the teams try to capture and hold points; typically, some points are close to each team's initial spawn, while the ones in the center get the majority of the bloodshed. The game does have a couple of infantry-only modes, namely an infantry version of Conquest called Domination, and a Counterstrike-inspired Defuse mode; but these are not the thrust of the game. The other popular mode is Rush, which IMO is better served by the smaller maps and doesn't really work on the big-huge open maps.

Like BF3, this game has lots of roles for players to serve, even if they suck at aiming and can't fly without smashing into a building. Suppressive fire is more significant than before, and only requires you shoot in the general neighborhood of the enemy; healing, rezzing or resupplying gives plenty of points without needing skills at aiming.

The game finally has native VoIP, so you don't have to worry about setting up a vent server anymore, and you can actually talk to people during a pick-up match. Enjoy the thrill of coordinating your squad's next move with the drunk 55 year old in Florida and the caffeinated 10 year old in Ontario. Can't wait, can you?

One of the bad things about multiplayer, as the previous paragraph implies, is the quality of player you are multi'ing with. If you don't have a bunch of IRL friends you can run with, expect to have a very uneven experience with pick-up groups. There is nothing EA can do about this, of course, other than providing single-player modes... more on that in a moment.

The other thing you've heard about is the feature EA's marketing people decided to call... "Levolution." (sigh) Every map gets one big event that can (i.e., will) get triggered by players during the course of the match, such as the famous fall of the skyscraper in Shanghai. While this sort of thing is pretty to look at, IMO this usually makes the map worse for gameplay.

That said, expect to spend countless hours sucked into this game, giggling madly when you knife someone for their tags or /ragequitting after that same damn evil sniper got you for the 5th time in a row... only to return an hour later.

Singleplayer: The campaign is a huge step forward from BF3's laughable story. Yeah sure, the story is still pretty generic and DICE is still lightyears away from what Infinity Ward can put out in the campaign. And there are plotholes you can drive an M1 Abrams through. But at least the story isn't a confused, tacked-on mess like BF3's was; it has its enjoyable moments here and there; and it serves as a decent warm-up against an AI which is improved from last time. No longer will enemy soldiers happily march forward without cover in an endless quest to receive a lead transfusion from the player. And it does have some beautiful set pieces here and there, making full use of the Frostbite 3 engine, such as the mission on the sinking aircraft carrier. That said, the AI still kinda sucks overall, and the campaign is ridiculously easy compared to any COD campaign, even on Hard. "Better than BF3's campaign" is a very low bar to clear.

What would have been nice to see would have been a return of the bots to skirmish against on MP maps. Not a huge thing, but it would have made learning the maps so much easier without flesh-and-blood players shooting at me.

It already works better the Battlefield 3, and most of the maps are perfect for Battlefield (large open spaces with destructible building). I'm not factoring in the campaign of this game as none of the Battlefield campaigns have been impressive. If you want a single player game, there are a ton of other games to buy. When it comes to multiplayer though, this game is an overall improvement over battlefield 3. I would highly recommend it to fans of the series. Expand

But it has alot of performance issues which makes you crash etc. I belive this will get fixed in the future but its really bad that they released the game in this state.

You can pilot a helicopter, drive a tank, or fire a missile off of a small ATV. Saying nothing of the previous games in the franchise, as I have never played any, this seems to be cutting edge. I unfortunately cannot play this on next gen, so graphics will be the normal for Xbox 360. The story line seems to be a little lacking, but it seems to me that a lot of FPS games have that in common. Be wary of the fact that although there is class customization in multiplayer, you cannot edit in the same ways as Call of Duty, and each class levels independently, so if you only play as Assault, your assault weapons and equipment will advance, but if you all of the sudden go and play as Engineer, everything will be level one and have no unlocks. THE BOTTOM LINE:

    Pros: Graphics, Vehicles, Guns, Multiplayer

Cons: Some maps too large for fast paced gameplay, Xbox 360 cannot support more than 24 players, somewhat lacking campaign, other users have reported crashes.

As of this writing I've already finished the Singleplayer campaign (which I found very enjoyable, even if it was a tad cheesy and rushed) and I've played numerous hours of multiplayer which I have found very enjoyable. Multiplayer can be pretty hit or miss depending on how cooperative your team is and whether your team is filled with players only trying to rack up kills rather than complete objectives.

The graphics are top notch no other FPS really comes close at the moment. The map design is mostly creative, looking forward to additional content next year.

    Highly recommended.

I have to be honest when I first started playing online it didn't give me that buzz I had compared to BF3 or BC2, but now as the more I play online is really growing on me, its typical BF with a few new features, the campaign so far blows BF3 out of the water, but then again it didn't really need to try extra hard. By making the rate of fire indicator visible in hardcore is a god send, instead of having to waste ammo to find out, also it feels like bullets do more damage, you have confidence in knowing when you fire a burst at an enemy he's going down, it didn't feel like that it BF3. So all in all I like the game its made improvement in the right places, while adding features in the environment that really fill you with panic when you're running for your life to the edge of a skyscrapers roof to parachute off after hearing the building your standing on is about to collapse. Multi-player is vastly more fun than BF3 for me personally anyway I know alot of people will argue that this is just BF3 with new graphics and it pretty much is but there are alot of systems that have been refined.

And as for the maps, these maps are the worst pile of dog splooge ive ever come across, this one map wich i already forgot the name of is so bad i had to give it a -5/10, you spawn as attackers in a big open field, and as for the defender they get some of the best clipping spots in shooter game history, as you just as an attacker are destined to die over and over untill you run out of tickets.

The gun mechanic works about the same as MoH as well as the game play. It's very easy to die. But, once you figure out the learning curve it's not so bad and quite enjoyable.
3.) VEHICLES LAVS pretty much die from tanks now. Tanks take 2 to 4 hits before blowing up. Jets have slowed down (easier for kills now). Attack Helicopters feel weird to fly. Mini choppers are very quick and extremely sensitive.
4.) HARDCORE LOVERS There's no hit markers. So, if you kill a teammate, it won't tell you unless the server has been set up to let you know, or you look at who you killed on the top right hand corner. A bunch of new players are playing this mode and haven't figured it out that they can kill their own teammates.. So beware, but other than that very fun.
5.) The game is absolutely beautiful. The maps, the buildings falling, the sun. Everything is beautiful. The maps are very well thought out. They've given snipers a chance in the game, good infantry, and great vehicle play. You get everything.
6.) BUGS YES WE KNOW THERE ARE BUGS. EVERYONE CHILL OUT! Bugs will happen, but hey! They fixed some of the MAJOR bugs, like SERVER CRASHES and GAME CRASHES. SO stop crying about it.

Typically, people get angry when they die a lot and then spread hate. There are things not to like and there are things that we like. It's an overall, 7-8 out of 10 in my book. Here is almost everything wrong with the game:
The PC version requires you to run Origin, you internet browser, and the game. The client crashes almost every other match you play. The sound cuts out almost every match. The hit detection is sometimes spotty. The maps are imbalanced on every gametype except conquest-try swimming for a minute into sniper fire armed only with a pistol to reach one of seven objectives (rush on paracel storm). Vehicles are imbalanced as well: choppers are hard to fly, hard to get kills with, and easy to shoot down. Tanks are invincible to everything except engineers, and jets... jets. Engineer is the only worthwhile class. The unlocks are terrible-most of the starting weapons are objectively better in every way. Spending an hour unlocking another red dot sight that gives the same benefits is really obnoxious. The list goes on and on.
The core gameplay is fun, really fun. Just turn a blind eye to all of the broken mechanics and you will be fine.

Killcams itself up all the time. Campaign is short, and has a damn ending. AI is better than in BF3 but still not that good.
I also find the maps in bf3 way better. TDM and SQDM is completly in bf4. The graphics are much better which i like quite alot. They say that there is LOTS of more destruction in the game, but it doesnt feel like it. Maby the destructiion doesnt really have the same impact on the game as it did before.

The biggest problem about the game which i don't see any way to fix. Is the similarity between bf3 and bf4. It feels like the same game. You'll get bored quite fast of it.

There have also been changes in the methods of leveling up to obtain new weapons. A player must level up that weapon type to unlock more in the category, meaning players can no longer cheat their way to the best sniper rifle by using an assault rifle unlocked by another class.

People are complaining that this game is laggy, maybe u should buy a computer that runs this game. No game is finished after a week, and we should wait a few weeks so they can fix these bugs. Im satisfied to this game, 10/10 because Dice did something new, unlike Infinity Ward.

Great game, someone says that this is BF 3.5. I do not think there are many differences, you just have to notice them. Unfortunately the second half of the game is Premium. Could be better, I put 9.

Battlefield 4 is poorly optimized garbage at this point. My system has never had major issues on any games old or new. I picked up BF3 premium several years after launch, and my modest system pushed it hard on ultra settings filling my LED with glorious 60fps. Obviously, I didn’t expect to get Ultra 60fps on BF4 without some overclocking and possibly a gpu upgrade. But even had IBattlefield 4 is poorly optimized garbage at this point. I picked up BF3 premium several years after launch, and my modest system pushed it hard on ultra settings filling my LED with glorious 60fps. Obviously, I didn’t expect to get Ultra 60fps on BF4 without some overclocking and possibly a gpu upgrade. But even had I upgraded, the cpu spikes, constant crashes, loss of audio, and abysmal server performance render new hardware moot. The newest Radeon card isn’t going to prevent 40% cpu spikes that cause stuttering and lag like I’ve never seen before. The spikes can be extreme and being knifed or sniped during those moments is irritating to say the least.
To add insult to system failure, the game is essentially more of the same. As expected, the campaign is short, but it lacks the depth of BF3’s story which by comparison was somewhat enjoyable. The multiplayer interface has been slightly revamped. But nothing ground breaking. The maps are clearer for easier spawning and customizing loadouts is somewhat simpler. Overall, the changes are so minor that it feels nothing more than reskinned BF3. In fact, many things are the same as BF3. The controls are the same as BF3. The ingame intel alerts are the same as BF3. Many are the vehicles are the same. And I’m convinced that some of the maps are redrawn BF3 maps. There are new features, like commander mode. But the question remains: Did Dice change enough?
Does BF4 have anything to offer? The graphics are better. However, they are not good enough to justify buying the game. Why buy a game to crank up supersampling when there is the 100% certainty that your $2000 rig will crash at some point? This game can only be a buy when all the bugs are fixed. The ironic part of this debacle is that AMD based systems are being hit especially hard by the game-breaking optimization issues. DICE loudly touted that BF4 is “optimized” for AMD machines because PS4 and Xbox One are using AMD cpu/gpu’s. This “optimization” did not carry over to PC’s. So hopefully next gen console gamers will enjoy a stable product. PC gamers got screwed.
In BF4, DICE and EA followed the Activision formula: If it isn’t broke don’t fix it. This game could aptly be called Battlefield 3.5. Hopefully the patches and expansion packs will address concerns that DICE has been sleeping thru the testing phase of development. Unfortunately, I’m getting the distinct feeling that we might have a Crytek clone in DICE. Dice loudly trumpets its game engine but releases products that are only half finished. For gamers who enjoy BF3, stay with that game a while longer. BF4 is too buggy to recommend. Besides, the games are just too similar. Wait a few months, and pick it up on sale. Hopefully will have its act together by then.

This is a good game, but i have a 50% quit rate because of the awesome bugs that kick you from servers. If this many people are having problems then don't release the game. Make sure it works first. My guess is that EA wants to win the worst company in the US for the third year in a row though, so they are just making sure that we vote for them.

This is the worst iteration of the battlefield series, not being able to connect reliably to any server is a big negative & warranted a refund in my case. Battlefield 3 worked pretty much flawless apart from the odd server side crash. I would not recommend this game so early on, wait for patches to fix such a big ridden piece of

Starting with the not so good. That would have to be the campaign. You're AI squad mates are absolutely useless. They stand in direct fire. More often then not they seem lost. They hardly listen to your commands. The enemy AI will run directly past three of your squad mates to fire at you. The good very open missions. Not so linear like in BF3. Not so linear like in BF3. The campaign is enjoyable enough to finish. The multiplayer is brilliant. Extremely well designed maps. Addictive combined arms combat. Massive amounts of level up items. If you're PC is capable of running it at ultra settings you're in for a treat. The game is absolutely gorgeous. Extremely immersive with all the particle effects and brilliant lighting. The game was quite buggy at first but the most recent patch as of November 6, has fixed most of the problems. I would highly recommend this game. Expand

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why this game is getting even this high of a score.

Quite honestly, as an actual Creative Director (yes, it does have caps) with over 15 years of experience in the industry, I would NEVER have allowed this game to be out. It's SP game sucks and has horrible dialog that makes little to no sense, the music is 1980's style and quality and is

I wasted my money so don't YOU do the same.

    Really. Crappy. Game.

The game itself is great fun. Although in it's current state, it is a laggy, buggy mess. Rubber banding EVERYWHERE on all 64 player servers. The single player is awful, and they make you play it if you want to unlock some guns for multiplayer. Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
