Yawn. This pointless 'update' puts sadly puts the previously respectable Battlefield series firmly in the 'Call of Duty camp'. I played the single player a couple of months back and already can barely remember it.

Totally buggy and unplayable game. Among the show-stoppers is a 0-health bug that makes some players invincible. This happens every fourth-third time you die, and DICE still hasn't fixed it.

Don't buy it, don't fund this crap.

Battlefield 4 is a epic game with many innovations and a big quantity of bugs, but if you stop to pay attention, the creators are launching updates that are improving since the launch, and if you wait they will correct the rest, like in battlefield 3, i believe you need to wait until they fix the bugs and then, you can buy one of the best games made.

Battlefield 4 does not fall short at amazing. The gameplay is intense, graphics are amazing, and the destructive environment is better than ever. Unfortunately, EA pushed this game out quicker than it should. The game still has glitches, and extreme frame-rate drops at times, even for the console versions. There is also a few minor things that isn't apart of the game. There is no co-op missions, you can't invite friends to a squad before going in-game. You have to follow them in and hope you guys end up on the same team. The only way to customize any of your load outs is through in-game customizations. You can't change load-outs on the My Soldier like you could on BF3. You're also only limited to customizing the specific vehicles on the map. For example, say you play on Operation Locker, a close quarter combat with no vehicles, but say you unlock a new camo that you want to put on your tank. You have to wait till you are on a map with that tank available to put it on. Also, in Battepacks you are awarded things like "New Emblem" and "New Solider Portrait." This has left many confused of where to locate those items. The only way to locate those items is through the computer by logging into your battlelog. This can be a hassle especially if you want to just change your emblem/clan tag.

Like I said, Battlefield still is an over-all amazing game, but there is still a lot of things they left out or over complicated that could of been made easier.

Pros: absolute brilliant graphics, large maps, brilliant single player campaign .
Cons: it will kick me off before I finish ANY multiplayer game, annoying habit of flicking me around 180 degrees, randomly freezes, playing on a 8350/7870 ghz/ssd computer, so it is not the specs plus the single player campaign has no such problems ( will play Crysis 3 high res no problems)

Battlefield 4 is such a big improvement, Commander mode is so fun to play especially when your not with friends. The destructive buildings are awesome, the graphics are breathtaking and the fps O my GOD so good. It did have bugs at the start but so does every game. They have been fixed this happens to every game even call of duty so guy give a little leeway.

I would have initially have given this game a 4 or 5 out of 10 due to my horrible experiences with it. However, now that they have patched up some of the core, and most aggravating, problems, the game is actually a lot of fun.

I see that several of the views below, the negative ones, bash the levelution system which provides us with the destructibility of each map. I'll have to disagree with many people here about that. From personal experience, I'd say that it makes a lot of difference in how you play the game, if you actually think ahead and take your environment into consideration. If you're one of those people who just run around killing people, the destruction physics will mean nothing to you no matter how good it is. There was one time which me and my squad-mates were hold up in a building as we tried to defend the area from the assaulting enemies. Sure enough, with enough firepower the entire building collapsed, leaving us with no cover and a harder to defend point. So instead, we decided to use some guerrilla tactics and destroyed their attacking vehicles with C4. The changes to the environment that happen can make it look like you just stepped into a new area although it is so damaged that it looks foreign, not to mention the amazing graphics which add much more immersion to the environment of each map.

Now, the initial problems that I mentioned before had to do with their servers. It was impossible to play with friends, Battlelog wouldn't work, and servers were laggy and hard to get into. It was annoying that I couldn't play with my friends, and due to that I almost returned the game. However, with the most recent patch, it seems they have almost solved the problem completely. Although the exclusion of a party system in game can be annoying, it can easily be worked around due to the flexibility of in-game team switching. The server problems which plagued BF4 previously can only be seen on some occasions and they aren't as bad as before. I can also proudly say that Battlelog works perfectly fine, however it is rather useless.

For the in-game issues, the gameplay itself works well. It is impossible to drop-shot and quick-scoping is almost impossible as well. The guns aren't balanced at all, however the game itself relies on the strategic thinking of the player to win situations, and not the gun itself. However, if you are in a straight up, no-cover, shooting match with someone with a better gun, you will lose, which is how it should be. The fact that you have to continue to play with a certain class or vehicle in order to unlock more for it can be kind of annoying, as compared to COD:Ghosts squad point system, however you can earn enough score by completing objectives and aiding your team, which also helps you level up.

The Commander system is also a nice addition to BF4. With it, you can see the map from an eagle-eye perspective, aid the team with UAVs, EMPs, supply drops, squad promotions, and the ability to order squads to objectives on the map. Not to mention the addition support options which you can use when your team has specific objectives on the map, such as an AC-130, cruise missiles, and a map-wide infantry or vehicle stand; you can even mark enemies for everyone to see for a period of time if they have a 6-kill kill-streak! Although it seems like having a commander can win you any game, most of the time no one uses the feature, and when they do they don't seem to do much with it. If your team sucks and refuses to listen to commands, having a commander won't make much of a difference. However it may be able to make you lose just a little less.

Overall, I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the First-Person-Shooter experience and wants a more realistic game than COD.

For players looking for Rush gameplay, this BF4 is a sore disappointment.but if EA give us battlefield 2 and 3 with i will buy itseeming more like the Armored Kill and End Game maps. There are no maps like Grand Bazar, Seine or Aftermath.

There are serious problems with the spawn on the defensive team of a few maps, resulting in many instant kills after spawn.

I said i wouldn't get it but it was on sale black friday so i got it. i got the "deluxe" edition, which is **** it says you have the expansion pack "china rising"..what they didn't tell you those no good **** is that "premium customers" get to "unlock the content" two weeks before everyone else..that stung for a bit..why in the sam hill would i purchase it if that was the case? the deluxe edition no less? all to get your hard earned **** cash thats all it is.

the game was released in what, November? rushed to try and beat the call of duty sales(which as much as cod sucks, it will never beat call of duty i am sorry i hate to admit, i don't play it but they won't outsell it). I played the game in beta because i own battlefield 3 and when i played the game it was just like the beta.
my video drivers are up to date..my windows is up to date..pc is pretty good pc but i still got the error saying my video card wasnt the updated version(which it was) and that i could still run the game but it might crash and not cooperate..
well crash it did..constantly..stuck on the **** loading screen. disconnected from games..so i uninstalled and resinstalled it, thinking maybe i had missed something..but no. i tried talking to my man hajib over there, the lovely customer service rep and he was dumb as a stone, offered no help just wanted to see a screen shot of my dxdiag.
I hate to say this..but i am done with the battlefield franchise..i work too hard for my money to be let down. I can't rate this game fully because i didn't enjoy it fully. so the bottom line is if you liked battledfield? stick with the 2nd one, hell if u can stand the web browser and origin even the third one..but ea has gotten my money for the last time..may the rot on the vine and finally get the same dick in their **** that they have been giving us customers for years

I'm rating this a 6 mostly since the game does function most of the time. So many features are still missing from BF4 that are found in most newer FPS games - matchmaking, balance between sides, pre-game lobbies, etc. The server style reminds me more of older FPS games such as Quake... at least Quake loaded within reason back in the day.

Why can't they at least offer a competitive option that allows players to play on their favorite local servers with high tick rates and no lag compensation? I prefer a smooth, challenging, honest, and skilled gameplay over the ability to play with someone over 500 miles away! Hell, I would pay premium for an elite or competitive version of the game that would allow this. The masses can be provided a regular version of the game at discount and continue to be satisfied by the randomness of kills and deaths in their games, no matter how good or bad their internet connection is.

The amount of times I find myself instantly jumping 100 to 0 health is outrageous. Suppression was a good concept in Battlefield 3, and it returns edited. It is still, unfortunately, terrible. I have lined up hundreds of shots with a carbine only to miss every shot because an enemy with a light machine gun fires one bullet near me. There is still a stupid amount of lag in servers, even with 30- ping, which to me is unacceptable. The game simply does not have a high enough server refresh rate, so what you see and what your enemies see are often different, resulting in the earlier mentioned instant health drop. Hitboxes actually fall behind players sometimes, so what should be a hit is sometimes displayed with no hitmarker, no damage, but blood from the enemy. This can be proven on the test range, which actually is nearly useless considering there are very few realistic situations available. By this I mean there are a few slow UAVs, a few motionless boats, and a couple buggies.

Now for the campaign. There's really not much to say about the campaign because there is really not much to it. All it is is pointless cursing and shooting. There may have been a plot that I missed, but for the most part it could just be an interactive Michael Bay film. There are silly cutscenes, situations, you name it.

The only way I would ever recommend this game to anyone is if its bugs are fixed entirely. The multiplayer has a good base, but EA just decided to rush another game out the door, creating possibly the biggest disappointment of 2013 for me personally. I had the intention to pre-order premium, but wow am I glad I didn't.

The game play is solid and it is visually stunning. Also, there and not even close to as many glitches as people say there are. After the first week i have yet to have the game crash on me. Sure, some of the levolution features are useless, like when the tower collapses in Siege of Shanghai, the rest of the match gets boring. CoD: Ghosts doesn't hold a candle to this. Anyone who thinks Ghosts is better than this is an idiot.

I love the new customization options. Getting to look at your gun. Lots of camoflauge, guns, vehicles and attachments.

This is my first time playing a battlefield game after playing COD in the past. There's no comparison, this game is COD on steroids. Playing COD is underwhelming and boring now compared to BF4. The amount of detail put into this game is amazing and it really pays off in multiplayer.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Played the whole series and greatly enjoyed them all.......except this one.

EA management have shown some serious contempt for their customers, because selling this game in its original state must have bordered on illegal. It just didn't do what it was supposed to...ie : play.

After 3 months of constant updates and patches, its better (ie: It actually plays, most of the time), but there's still loads wrong or flawed within the game.

Overall, BF4 is good looking when it works but the endless flaws are difficult to accept when you've paid a premium price, for a second rate game.

I've played more many more enjoyable games that were free.

Its amazing that someone can actually sell a product that is thoroughly filled with bugs and glitches and pretend its finished. A fiction which is quickly dispelled when you try to play. I wont even try to list all the errors, glitches and bugs as it would be a long and tedious review.

But thats not the biggest problem: to make a FPS game where you basically have to empty a magazine to take down an enemy, is stupid, irrational, annoying and in general very strange not to mention unrealistic. I really dont understand WHY. But its highly aggravating.

Furthermore then even with the option of "realistic" bobbing of sights then they have tried to make a "realistic" feel. Which aside from the fact that its totally UNrealistic (how many feel the world around them weaving, undulating and bobbing when you run or walk?), makes the game even harder to play. I felt like had downed a bottle of scotch before i sat down to play.

Leaving that aside, then there is basically nothing new in the multiplayer game. At all.

The single player game - the campaign - is a joke. And not a good one at that. Too many (poorly) scripted events where you are sitting at the edge of the chair waiting to do a consol-like keuboard and mouse combination, which if you get it wrong forces you to waste minutes watching the same annoying cutscene again.

At any rate then that doesnt excuse a shallow and one-dimensional story...

SO, as far as im concerned then this was a complete waste of time and money. And in NO way able to do as it was planned: to take up the battle with the Call of Duty franchise ...

I agree with the people saying that the game feels sometimes like Battlefield 3.5, but some improvements have been done. Sounds are better, graphics also mildly and the guns behave more realistically.

    Problems this game still has:
-Random crashes every now and then
-Sometimes it's a pain in the ass to get to a server, since the service is not working properly
-Hit detection sometimes drags behind. You run to the cover, get there and die from a shot that should have hit you earlier, if it was going to

Another annoyance is the battlepacks... You're unlocking a weapons utilities, and sometimes you just can't know what you'll get, and quite often the random unlocks just prove to be completely useless...

But all these things aside, the actual gameplay is still nice.

First of all, I can't really blame those who makes jokes about the game being in Beta. It is, even if possibly the one I'm playing today is Beta 3.0, and not the horrific pre-Alpha some of us bought on October 29th. The netcode is better than before (it doesn't take much do be better than trash, but it has improved; not reliable yet, but better), and some of the major bugs and, most importantly, the CRASHES, have been fixed, at least as far as I can say. Maybe I'm optimistic or just lucky, but I haven't experienced nothing special except, of course, some lag and a couple of minor reload bugs. The problem is: is Battlefield 4 worth playing now? Is Battlefield 4 worth NOT BEING ERADICATED from the planet just because it started to be less than God awful only around January? Let's make a pros-cons, it's easier for me and for you. Just one advice: i won't include in the cons the OBVIOUSLY KNOW BUGS, because that's already clear in my opinion. I will write pros and cons like if BF4 was a bug-free game, but these bugs will obviously weight in the score.

    PROS
-Most of the maps are very well designed
-It offers a truly astounding Battlefield experience WHEN IT WORKS, and BF fans know what i mean
-Graphics are gorgeous, nothing to say about that
-Sound, when it isn't bugged, it's really remarkable and realistic
-The perk system makes sense, encouraging people not to play like morons unless they like losing their perks for their squad being wiped out

    CONS
-The unlock system still sucks (i. e. assignments and gadgets progression criteria)
-Excessively vast arsenal has room for lots of pointless weapons and, of course, some OP guns
-The map design of Operation Locker can be found at the voice "How to NOT make a multiplayer map"
-The game has an excessive load on your system in certain situations, where 60 stable fps, even with a quite high-end PC, are all but reachable 1080p
-Questionable weapon balance (PDWs not universal, Carbine now universal, DMRs nerfed like and the same goes for most of the rocket launchers)
-Hit detection is one of the worst I've ever seen
-Map design is good for some game modes and bad as hell for others
-The whole game costs 60 50 Thanks, BF4 Premium, for being expensive. And for existing

I may not be an expert reviewer, and I sure as hell am not good enough to tell you or DICE how to actually make Battlefield 4 a game worth buying. The situation is better than two months ago, but can I tell that for me BF4 is better than its predecessor? Nope. And keep in account that I've played BF3 on the PS3, not exactly a wonderful porting. This is my opinion, as incoherent and senseless as you want, but sure as hell sincere. And 5 is my vote, same as before.

I really appreciate the changes DICE did (new attachments, scoring for damaging vehicles, light switches, Commander Mode, but the map design could be better (for instants "Operation Locker" a.k.a. Sometimes it's impossible to play Rush, because a lot of maps enable baserape (but this is a problem we already got in Battlefield 3 and for this the players are to blame), although the map offers more than two ways to get to the objective. It is no mystery that this game has it's share of problems. But the amount of complaining has become contagious and 'DICE hating' is trending real big right now.

So here's my take on it....

I just built myself a new gaming rig. I'm running 2 GTX 780s SLI and an i7 4770k. On this rig, BF4 rarely EVER crashes. And I mean RARELY EVER. When I had a 650ti Boost, I was experiencing more crashes, but that was several patches ago. I don't ever have the audio dropping problem anymore either. So they ARE optimizing and patching, but for it to be flawless on everyone's different computers will take a lot of time.

This game is not for the "weak in specs". You need a strong machine to take advantage of this game and its graphics. I get 140 frames per seconds and I can tell you that the game is gorgeous. The movement is fluid and smooth, the audio is great, and I'm having a blast playing with my clan and random squads. BTW, I'm all about the multiplayer, but the campaign is nice too.

Now for the bad (which isn't a deal breaking issue with me). The game's current netcode (the software engineering that is responsible for online play) needs a lot more tweaking. There is a current bug, the '1 shot kill' bug, that was supposed to have been patched a few patches ago and hasn't been. This bug is extremely frustrating and it makes it appear that the person who killed you is using some kind of a cheat. There ARE hackers in this game just like any other PC game, but this bug has caused the entire community to being suspicious of each other and it goes to create a lot of hostility and frustration. I'm one of you above average players and I am now getting consistently "hackusated" almost every day as I improve at BF4. While I take it mostly as a compliment, I have actually been banned by some butt hurt admins who didn't like me killing them repeatedly. Hence why I have started recorded my gameplay and posting to Youtube.

Another issue (for me at least) are that the anti-air vehicles and weapons are too powerful, and helicopters and jets (mainly helicopters) aren't as much fun to fly as in previous titles. The range of these weapons creates a scenario that if more than 1 player on the opposite team are using stingers, IGLAs, air radar missiles or the mobile AA tanks, it is pretty much impossible to fly around the map, and most of the time you will be destroyed as soon as you take off from base (which is unacceptable).

Aside from these 2 complaints, I cannot in good conscience say that this game is anything but great. While it doesn't bring anything really new or groundbreaking to the table (other than levolution which is pretty to look at but usually has a negligible effect on gameplay), it is still a solid FPS game with nice maps, gorgeous visuals and audio and high replay value.

In conclusion, it is worth the $60. The $100+ for Premium is kind of a rip off, you don't get much from it. Be prepared for some multiplayer frustration though, but just keep in mind that it is the netcode and not a hacker 95% of the time and you won't lose too much hair over it.

Maps, which have yet to make anybody happy except the stereotypical expert player, in which huge open ranges allow for 110-rank players to sit and annihilate your entire team regardless of what part of the map you spawn in. Vehicles are now more overpowered and the lesser ones now made worse. Jets are now invincible, travel at the speed of light, and cannot be shot down by anything, and helicopters now require you to run away whenever you enter any open area because any engineer with two rockets in a rocket launcher can take YOUR ONE FLARE and reload faster. Tanks, previously effective anti-infantry vehicles, previously 'fair' in BF3, are now not even weak enough to be called a 'tank'. Several of the secondary more-powerful anti-tank mines will only disable movement. Anti-aircraft, a vehicle whose purpose was completely obliterated when people now use the heavy machine guns in order to mow down infantry, and end up camping in their spawn locations (which you cannot enter.) Alongside a whole other set of unbearable problems, like a rocket artillery you find campers hiding in spawns, can also take down piles of infantry. Tanks can now carry two different types of different, more advanced shells, both overpowered to the max. Anybody who likes BF3 (Or any previous) should take a big look before they purchase this game. Sixty dollars I would rather spend to have my house egged.

The sounds of the various objects in the game are still fresh, it makes for some really intense moments that can make even the most casual FPS player feel like a hero if they so wish.

The multiplayer mode is as good as it ever has been, it's battlefield, you know what you're getting as far as game-play is concerned, there is no comparison to the sheer fun that can be had. Personally, i have experienced a few annoying connection issues that with persistence can be overcome, EA does seems to get this wrong a lot (you'd think with all the money saving from shutting down the old servers, the newer ones would be up to the job, no?).

So, enough with the praise and onto the gripe, there is a reason why this game scored 8/10 apart from all the other faults you might find when playing it yourselves, and that is one word, BATTLELOG. A PC issue first and foremost, why does this thing still exist? Why is the integration of social media and games becoming a thing nowadays? The whole experience of having to open each game through a window makes the product feel like it is held together with tape, it doesn't FEEL like a complete game, almost like the game was an afterthought and battlelog itself should take centre-stage, totally unnecessary, just stick to menus, please.

All things considered, it's a good and fun game to play, best played with friends or relatives in squad play to rack up points, the single player is a definite step up from BF3, so check it out.

The gun mechanics are significantly dumbed down, and you will often find yourself getting killed in an instant and that the weapons are overall a bit unbalanced, with the DMR's and the shotguns being absolutely useless compared to the automatic weapons.

The new gun mechanics are easier to pick up, but make the game significantly more shallow. However, there are many new customization options that can prolong the lifetime of the multiplayer. Vehicles remain mostly the same, but the addition of attack jets to conquest and obliteration gamemodes have rendered the so-called "anti-air" jets completely useless.

As for the singleplayer, it has a forgettable storyline and dull shooting sequences. It wont take you more than 3-4 hours to complete it and there are plenty of bugs, just like the multiplayer

The graphics are decent, but just like in Battlefield 3, the color scheme is quite dull.

The game isn't worth 60$, but it's still an OK game.

Finally if you are looking for a nice and strategy based FPS you can always buy BF3, BF4 is the next generation of "call of duty multiplayer full of amateur/childish" kinda game. But the king of these modes is the old champion commander mode! And it just happens to be one of the best looking game ever! The game also makes guns feel real and alive. Sometimes you will get a glitch that takes you out of the experience. The stupid "Pay to Win" system is back and the matchmaking makes no effort to actually pair you with people who are starting out like you, or with people on a similar skill level. Which means you'll be paired against people who have the best upgrades and you're armed with stock. That sounds fair right? Yeah I know.

The servers are absolute garbage, with lag all over the place (even with my 54 ms connection). People will dash across your screen and gun your ass down without even looking at you. Other times, you'll have the drop on them, pump 12 bullets into their chest, and still get killed with two bullets... from the guy who had to turn around to kill you. Bravo Dice. The disparity between weapons is mind boggling, with pistols (that use higher caliber rounds) doing barely any damage compared to assault rifles. The map are set up in a way that allows for spawn camping and vehicle camping, ensuring that your mismatched teams will produce one sided battles. As stated, the matchmaking is a joke and you'll be paired with idiots 99% of the time while fighting against clans or players who play together. Real balance right there folks.

Performance wise, the game is a mess. On my 3rd gen i5 HP with 6 gigs of ram, the game takes TWO whole goddamn minutes to load a map. Two whole minutes of watching a screen load while everyone else is having fun. And if you are really lucky (like me), you'll get singled out for PunkBuster's inability to properly configure its damn self 5 seconds into the match, requiring you to mess around with Firewall settings to get the program to function PROPERLY. Something the damn thing should be able to do on ITS OWN. The game is poorly optimized and its anti-cheating software can't even install itself properly.

I got the game solely for multi-player, based on the Xbox 360 gaming I did with BF4. But goddamn is this a mess.Weapon balance issues, repair exploits for helicopters, and other issues marr the experience. Good grief, stay away from this hunk of garbage until they fix it.

Single player is just a rinse and repeat of
    A)goes to linear corridor level
    B)kills everyone in said corridor
C)something blows up and character is sent hurdling
    D)go back to A
So there's nothing to say about it, the story content is just so mindless that I switched off and can't remember any names of the characters at all they're so forgettable and bland.

    Multiplayer;
I would say Battlefield 3.5, but they've somehow copied BF3 and taken it 2 steps backwards.

Damage balancing is all out of order,

Recons are able to Rambo it up and one-hit-kill players at close quarters while most other classes are not so lucky.

Engineers serve no anti tank/anti air purpose anymore, with their launchers doing minimal damage and having to expend all their rocket ammo to down just one vehicle. With how they have the submachine gun they're only use is to "run and gun". They might as well be called the "pandering to the call of duty audience class"

Supports are only useful for the ammo now. Their hopes of suppression, let alone killing, isn't very high because they're damage is akin to nerf guns. I have been a support and had a gun run at me, sponge the weapon and shoot me dead and I've been able to do the exact same to others.

Assault/medic classes are generally pretty balanced actually, but damage inconsistency can really mess your experience up as you'll find one moment you can kill a fully healed enemy in 2 shots and the next it takes 8 or 9 bullets to put a guy down.

Maps are completely unbalanced, you only have two options. Completely bottle necked with grenade and explosive spam or Completely open with no cover, there is only one map that breaks this trend and it can get old fast.

I thought BF3 was pretty mediocre and hoped they could bring it back to awesomeness, but this was the killing blow.
It's become nothing more than EA forcing DICE to copy paste the previous game in a rush to shove out yearly titles.
    Time to drop this series.

Battlefield is made for multiplayer. It would be a great game too, if EA didn't rush it to beat Ghosts to the shelf in Tesco. 95% of the time, I'm sent back to the server screen because I lost connection. When I do join a game, I'm put in a small queue for about a minute before I'm sent back to the server screen again. This more or less prevented me from joining a game with my friends.

After 20 minutes of waiting, I'm greeted by a glitch fest that makes Skyrim look like it was released on time Textures going crasy, Shooting through walls and mountains, spawn killing, glitching through the ceiling and dying, getting sniped by untrackable players, crouching while running, 10 tanks on the map at the same time...

The season pass costs £40 in Britain, and adds everything that should have been in the game at launch. How they can make 2 DLC's within 45 days is beyond me. They couldn't have cut it out of the disk, could they?

Basically put, Battlefield 4 is a game that would have been amazing if it was released in April or May, but EA had to have it out before Christmas. Dice is very tallanted, but due to EA's greed, they made a rushed, unfinished game. Save your money on this unplayable piece of rubbish.

The most important part of a FPS is hit detection and this game is a complete joke when it comes to that. Sometimes you will drop full health enemies with a quick burst of a SCAR across the map and sometimes you will have to pump 10 bullets into a guy right in front of you and to no avail.

Pre-game lobbies are still laughable. You wonder how DICE hasn't figured out how to transition between games. We just want a simple UI system so we can see the next map, and adjust our classes accordingly. Not have to click on some slow-loading screen to see the map, then ALT-Tab to adjust our class on battlelog. And refresh the page to make sure the changes actually will work.

The crashes. Oh the crashes. After their LATEST patch, I had two crashes back to back games. I won't say anymore to that, you probably have read enough about it.

A much needed positive to this game is that the longer you play, the better you will do. You have to acclimate to the game type and learn the best weapons, classes and perks to move about the map. I have been playing mostly domination recently, and after 8 hours of grinding the maps out, I'm starting to get consistently great games. I know how to approach the flags and how to use the spawns to my advantage. So in conclusion to this, practice makes perfect. There is a good size skill gap in this game.

Overall, I give this a 4 just due to the fact nothing has really changed,, and what has changed is mostly negative. (incredibly bizarre hit detection, crashing, etc. As a BF 1942 veteran, I'd rate this as my 5th favorite battlefield. If you are new to the franchise, I'd recommend it and tell you to stick with it, and your game will improve. If you are on a budget and don't have 100+ dollars to dump in a game, I wouldn't justify it.

Then it comes to the review. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews, I purchased it when it was on sale 3 weeks ago, what I can say is that even the single player campaign worth the money! (though I have to say the story is ridiculous, and apparently they have no idea on what Chinese government is like today. The story is full of typical western bu**sh** and the story is for China in 70s)

Funny that many ppl were b**ching about the netcode and crashes, b***sh** IMO, It only crashed twice, and the netcode problem only happened 4-5 times for me. Played the game for more than 40 hours. Definitely not like what those haters overly exaggerated about (Or maybe it's the new patches that fixed these problems Idk).

Problems do exist, that's why I gave it an 8.
1, Story is full of typical western bu**sh** abt China like I said. Misleading as hell.
2, Multiplayer unlocks are gone after finishing the single player campaign, come back after several matches tho, but that was very frustrating cuz I thought those unlocks were gone forever.
    3, 75 Ticket bug.
4, Stats won't show up in battle log until, I don't know, 2-3 hours later I guess. A long lag like this is not acceptable.

    - Very unbalanced vehicles
    - Tiny aim dot for jets
    - Many invisible wall collisions
    - Hit detection that was worse than BF3s but occurs less often
    - Objects have bad collisions sometimes invisible walls intercept your shot trajectory )
    - Enemy squadmates spawn on allies while you are killing them meaning they can easily kill you as you will have spent most of your clip on the first guy.

Unbelievably bug ridden in both the campaign and multi-player. I wish I could return it, it's such a frustration to play. Crashes a lot on two different PC's I've run it on. In the campaign the AI that is your team is immensely stupid. I used a stairwell to a roof for cover once and if you stand in the middle of the stairwell the AI characters will repeatedly run up and down confused and knock you around making it impossible to shoot. Oh and the AI characters don't accurately engage until you manually tell them to. Worse battlefield ever with marginally improved graphics. The first battlefield that I would not recommend. Expand

I don't know why everyone is complaining about the bugs. I have had the game for 2 weeks, and it has crashed only twice. I would also like to point out that all the reviews that point out how buggy the game was came out over a month ago and the game has been patched repeatedly.

The multi-player is fine OTHER THAN THE SPAWNING.
The multi-player is tons of fun, but I recommend having a team to play with because you can occasionally get stuck with mentally challenged 4 year olds.

This may be a personal thing but I find that I get spawn-killed WAY to much for it to be by chance.

Unlocking things is an absolute pain and the game is not necessarily nice to new people. After two weeks, you should have a decent set of gear to choose from.

The single player campaign is crap and makes no sense and it is made worse by the fact that you actually have to play it in order to unlock certain (good) weapons.

The "Levolution" is just a gimmick and should be viewed as such. It is not a serious game play element. Sometimes, it is fun to take out campers by making buildings collapse, but that is it. It is simply for entertainment and is just a cool thing to have.

Sidenote- RUSH IS INCREDIBLY ONE SIDED. THE DEFENDERS ALWAYS HAVE THE UPPER HAND. IF YOU EXPECT TO WIN A GAME OF RUSH WHILE YOU ARE ATTACKING, YOU BETTER HAVE ONE HELL OF A TEAM. ATTACKERS ALMOST ALWAYS RUN OUT OF TICKETS.
However, since it alternates between defending and attacking, you won't go on a 30 rush game loosing spree and it is still fun even if you don't win.

Although the game is having technical problems like crashing and bugs, DICE rolls out a patch every two weeks or so, and the bugs and crashes are slowly but steadily disappearing (crashes are already virtually non-existing). When the game works, it is the most amazing multiplayer you can have right now. The destruction is a big advancement from BF3, there is only a few things more cool than blowing up a wall an enemy is using for cover, or crushing an entire building onto a cluster of pesky snipers. Battlefield 4 offers the biggest variety of gameplay from tanking to stealthily flanking the enemy team to flying a jet around the whole map. It is definitely worth spending $60, or even $110 on. Though I might get frustrated because of the bugs and hit detection, but the next day I get right back in and have a blast Expand

Battlefield 4 is a pretty good game. Even though the campaign might not be as good as in Call of Duty and the game might crash every time, multiplayer is actually the best. Alright, so here goes nothing. I have played Battlefield games for a long time, and I have always thought of them as decent games, but Medal of Honor games were still my go to games. I have played Battlefield games for a long time, and I have always thought of them as decent games, but Medal of Honor games were still my go to games. Well, after EA ruined the games, I decided to give Battlefield a go again with Battlefield 3. So I played it, and it was absolutely horrible. I couldn't figure anything out, I was horrible with vehicles, particularly air vehicles, and I got sick of it, so I bought Black Ops and started playing that and eventually I got sick of it so I decided to give Battlefield 3 another go. I tried the campaign this time, it was pretty great (to me, atleast), I mean, the gunplay and overall gameplay was boring and had no replayability, but I absolutely loved the story. I eventually got the hang of multiplayer, and played it nonstop for a long, long time. Then eventually I started getting sick of the AEK noobs and glitches so I went over to Black Ops 2, and then I heard about Battlefield 4. I got money to get a PC to get the game to have awesome graphics and such, and preordered the game. Since I didn't finish my PC yet though, I played the beta on the Xbox, and let me tell you, that was the worst broken piece of garbage I have ever played. So I was hesitant to start playing this game, so I played the campaign first. The gameplay was MUCH better then BF3s, and it still had a pretty great storyline, despite only taking a day to finish. Then I got to multiplayer, and I really enjoy it. Also people, THE GAME ISN'T ABOUT LEVOLUTION, DICE SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT. It is only a tool in the game, just something to change things up.... Anyways, I really do enjoy it, but I hate that EA is ruining another great game. Let them fix the dang game PLEASE... It is great when it isn't broken, so expect crap until a couple of months down the road. I think this game will end up like BF3 for me, where I won't really enjoy it until a while down when I start getting the hang of it.
    TL;DR
Game is 8/10 for a lot of fun but some horrible glitches caused by the evil EA.

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
