Best shooter this year by far, sure the single player isn't much to like but the single player isn't what's important it's the multiplayer and the multiplayer shines very bright. Amazing game-modes, good weapons, leveling scale, gorgeous graphics, everything is just right in the multiplayer.

Please don't throw Stones at me but; I didn't like the 3rd game of the Numeric titles in the series.
Only what I'm going to say about that Is It didn't feel user friendly to me personally.

Although the 4th Installment is brilliant, you can have a hell of a good time playing it, it's a great Battlefield game.

Crossing over from the Call of Duty franchise to the Battlefield franchise wasnt easy, ive been playing CoD since 2009 and been playing Battlefield since 2010. At the time, I was a CoD fanboy and didnt play anything else, I thought to myself "This game is so good, there will never be a better shooter", and while that was true for some of the CoD games I played, the series quickly came to a downfall. I had pre-ordered BO2 hardened edition and payed roughly £100 for it, a mistake I would regret. That was when I told myself that I would never play another CoD again. What was there to play then? Battlefield. As I said earlier, it was hard for me to cross over, mainly because the game styles from the two games differed so much, CoD was run and gun, Battlefield was PTFO. I got BF3 for my birthday and played the heck out of that game, I simply loved it. Eventually I actually got good at it, and at the end of my BF3 days I was actually proud to call myself a good Battlefield player.

When BF4 was announced I was very excited, and eventually I pre-ordered the Limited Edition and BF4 Premium, something that I have not regretted. When the game came out it was a mere disappointment, lots of bugs and glitches, client and server crashes, game modes broken etc. They had also nerfed the vehicles, giving them a limited supply of ammunition, a mechanic which I hate. They had increased the time it took to reload flares and ECM Jammer from 7 secs to 22 secs, something which keeps you from killing people before some person with a stinger locks on to you and you have to go back to your base. I have to say though that playing as infantry is a lot of fun now, more than it was in BF3, but the horrible netcode gives you those "How the f*ck did he kill me?" moments. I would have given this game a 7/10 until I heard that DICE will be making the limited vehicle ammo thing for hardcore servers only, and also possibly changing the Flare/ECM reload time. That made me give the game a 8/10. Of course, they will be fixing the bugs, and when they do the game will propably get a 9/10 by me. The campaign had a horrible story but very satisfying and fun battles, but Battlefield as CoD is centered around the multiplayer and not the singleplayer.

If you dont mind people having all the unlocks before you and being at a disadvantage, I suggest you buy the game 1 or 2 months after the release. But if you can resist the bugs and want to have all the unlocks at the same time as the others, then I highly recommend that you buy the game now.

Multiplayer is great, rushed release though.
SIngleplayer is screwed from the FOV that you cannot change. FOV only affects the MP, so if you bought this game for SP and fear LOW FOVs, you should return it before opening it.

Graphic effects are overdone, balance feels wrong, snipers are too effective. Not happy with the state of this game at all and I'm a BF fan over COD. I was thinking of giving this 6/10 but after a 2 year wait and what I thought was going to be an awesome game i'm going to have to give it 4/10.

What the (This could literally be the entire review of the campaign but I'm going to move on.) Not like it starts off confusing, it keeps on being confusing throughout the entire thing. It starts off in a car, with a "funny" joke. Then you go back in time where DICE thought they were "cool", 13:37, seriously DICE, be realistic for once. To compare, BF3's campaign was varied and had a lot of cool things in it, like you could be in a jet, and iirc an attack chopper, and amongst dozens of tanks. This one, nothing. You're in a tank for about 3.5 minutes and a boat for about 5 minutes. That's IT. I could compare the singleplayer to the horrible MW3 campaign and STILL the BF4 campaign would stand out as the absolutely worst. You have missions that apparently require stealth. Every time, I've just pulled out the gun and shot the crap out of the AI cause there's no obvious path to walk around them. But wait, does it have to be this difficult? Am I maybe thinking too much? Yes I am, the AI in the BF4 campaign is stupid. They have no ears, no sense of anything sneaking behind them. Then you also got your own AI, which is apparently the slowest and worst scripted AI ever. You always have to run in front of them to be able to progress while shooting. And if you do so, the scripted enemies will show up BEHIND you. They pop up like you don't have adblock or something. Other than that, the plot is confusing, seems like this one guy is the reason for all this, then stuff happens then there's no conclusion, not even a pointer for what would happen or a sequel. Wouldn't want to play this campaign at all again, the story is less than interesting and the gameplay is worse than regular CoD run and gunning.

Now over to multiplayer, which apparently is the only thing this game is made to do. Hey, morons, you pay to have a singleplayer too, even if you don't play it. Could've probably saved 10 bucks on not having a singleplayer at all.
The multiplayer is good enough, still not better than BF3. People are freaking about this levolution crap. It's NOT the biggest or greatest thing ever, it's just a slightly scripted event that people want to abuse so that it happens IMMIDEATLY. So you're playing most of the time in a levoluted map. Some morons would say that it's "game changing". I would just call it a minor inconvenience. There are minor improvements from BF3, like the weapons got more stuff, you can choose better between special stuff for your classes. But that doesn't matter at all, because of the one thing DICE has not a single clue in, which is the ****ing netcode. BF3 was bad, but this takes it to an entirely new level. This is also the reason I would say the full release feels more like an alpha, as the beta had extremely close to none issues with this. The servers crash left and right, now there have been a bunch of patches and STILL the servers are extremely unstable and the netcode ****s up every now and then. The hit detection is gone, there's nothing. Snipers are useless 90% of the time due to a bad netcode. DMRs are completely useless as they deal no damage at all at any range. Then you have assaults and carbines which are the only weapons that works decent, then you have LMGs which are STILL the most overpowered things about the game. When the second assault DLC comes, then guess which maps EVERYONE's gonna play. Your favourite meatgrinder maps! There's also big issues when it comes to things. Suppression is still a dumb thing and is even worse now. Defibs have to be charged up now, and WHO knows about that? About 0.1% of everyone playing. So you get revived most of the time with 20 health and die immideatly. Thanks DICE, please tell everyone before making these changes. At least the spawn protection is gone when you spawn on other players.
Also, the feature I've been excited for in this game, the commander mode. Completely ruined. I'd rather go back to BF2's way of handling things you could use. They should've kept that, where you had to destroy certain things to hinder the enemy commander in using things, then you had to use engineers to get them back up. And now you have to hold points to be able to use things? Like, it's the opposite of what it should've been. This doesn't balance it out, it's more like whoever gets first to the objective is the winner if both commanders are in play. If the enemy got all the points, what the hell are you supposed to use? You have absolutely nothing to help out with, and the enemy got EVERYTHING in the world. This is what I've gotten from just looking at gameplay. Unbalanced ridiculousness.

Tl;dr, one of the worst and least fun singleplayer campaigns ever (I do enjoy a good singleplayer experience), a mediocre multiplayer mode which doesn't improve anything from the previous game, a spoiled return of commander mode and an extremely buggy and laggy game overall.

First, Battlefield 4 is way better than any CoD game, that's a fact.
The big fights on 32vs32 maps are fun, dynamic, beautiful.
It's overall a good game. Though, this game has big weaknesses : -too much vehicles. It doesn't give a good idea of war combats. 10 infantry soldiers and 20 people in vehicles for each team kills the interest. You still can have fun not being in a vehicle,

-too much vehicles. It doesn't give a good idea of war combats. 10 infantry soldiers and 20 people in vehicles for each team kills the interest. You still can have fun not being in a vehicle, but you'll probably kill less, die more and it may become frustrating at times.
-the maps are not good. They are similar, not creative, not that interesting. After a few games, you've see, it all. They are also not very numerous, and if you want more, I guess you'll have to pay more.
-The levolution is... not impressive. It's just scripts that launch at a certain time of the game and it's... yeah, meh. They basically built their trailers around it, and it's bland in game.
-It's pretty much the same as BF3. I know a lot of people keep saying this, but it's true. It's the exact same thing, except two or three little things. And now that's a problem 'cause if you played a lot of BF3, no need to buy it. At all. Stay on the 3rd. For the first few hours, you'll have fun, then it will get boring very quickly and you'll regret the money you've spent.
Same thing for the people who didn't like BF3, you won't like BF4 either.
-They are selling a game $60 when it is barely playable. Crashes every 2 games, lags, freezes, bugs, ...
The game is clearly not finished. For such a price, it would be legitimate to expect a new polished game.
It's not new and not polished AT ALL.

I wanted to give EA a chance with this game after what they said. It was BF, I really thought they wanted to take care of the series, at least because it could be a mountain of money. They didn't. This game is a failure. Not a complete failure, some things are good, but still a failure.
    Totally not worth the money.

Multiplayer 4/10 Netcode/lag/crashes/server lag, it's all there. I have played to battle rank 20 with more than 50% crashes. I've forwarded my ports, I've re-installed the firmware on my router, I've downloaded the amd beta drivers, I've repaired the game, I've checked every possible fix out there, and I still crash. It's not fun. When I can play, I find myself being killed around corners, through walls, and never beating anyone 1 on 1 at point blank. The only way to get kills is to flank and kill from behind, and even then when I try to, they wind up figuring out I'm shooting them in the back and one shoting me instantly. It's never taken more than 2 bullets, less than a half a second, to kill me, no matter the distance they shoot from. I can't kill anyone 100+ meters before they kill me, it's just not possible. My accuracy on conquest is under 5%, while on domination (close range sneaking up on people) it's 15%. It might be because I suck, but I'm not the only one.

Single player 6/10 I enjoyed it, but to be honest it wasn't action packed. There were moments in the scripted story that were amazing, and I really loved it, but the actual game-play was terrible. I played on normal, and the ai was pathetic. I enjoyed how they tried to flank me every now and then, but it was like shooting fish in a bucket, completely without a point and felt like a grind to the next action packed story. It was a better movie, even though the story-line wasn't really that comprehensible, than it was a fps.

I'll give it an 8 because I'm nice and I really want updates so I can play this damn thing. In the future, please try to fix all these bugs before release, not everyone is as forgiving as me.

Everyone, they have done it again! EA team has demonstrated once more their talence in leading the world's modern warfare gaming standard, which set up the milestone and paved the path of FPS gaming for future generations, which probably influeneced and inspired the whole world for many years afterwards.

BF4 is indeed a masterpiece of video game design. I am grateful that I have the honor to become one of a handful of the enlightened masses who possess the knowledge to truly decipher the great meanings and philosphy buried deeply inside this fantastic achievement of art work. The gameplay is fast, fluid, and utterly innovative. This game is so innovative that it does not need to innovate any more. Name one other first person shooter that changes as little as Battlefield while maintaining a large player base, inspiring the whole world and enlightening the public mass. It is impossible. Why? Because only Battlefield has achieved that kind of state and EA team had perfected their technique and dedicated lots of resources in paving the future of video gaming standards.

The story is a beautiful metaphor in itself. The player represents an enlightened and chosen individual who understands the true brilliance of the series. The enemies represent the uneducated masses who cannot comprehend the ridiculously high quality of the installment, and it is the job of the enlightened to deliver true justice to the mainstream.

There is absolutely no other video game that can match BF4's intense and fast paced gunplay. The game is so skill based that it takes skill to make the game take skill. People have to come up with new, inventive ways to restrict themselves so they can come up with an in game challenge. This develops the skills of the player and leads to a much more knowledgable individual. An enlighted BF4 player can easily best a player of the competition, especially in games which require teamwork.

All in all, BF4 is the most competitive game of the previous generation and will undoubtedly be one of the most competitive of the coming generation as well. The game tells a beautiful story and continues the series' affinity for innovation. Excellent work EA. The enlightened embrace you with open, next generation arms.

One of the most amazing multiplayer experiences today. As a sequel to Battlefield 2, which I loved, it fine tunes the graphics and adds an interactive, enjoyable map experience. Better than BF3, this is a must buy, as compared to Ghosts, which barely runs at Bad Company 2 graphics. Definitely worth EVERY penny, as I was addicted. I got more hours in this game in a week than I did in all of BF3.

I was originally planning to wait until Xbox One before I bought this but seeing the Ads on the Internet/Television/posters and the stand in the shop I caved and well quite frankly I wish I bought Call Of Duty (something I vowed not to do after playing the mindless drivel that was Black Ops and then playing the masterpiece BF3) I guess it's not all bad the graphics and textures are just as awe inspiring as BF3 if not better not many games can get the sea o actually look like the sea, walking around a city I felt like I was actually walking around a real city if not a little lifeless for somewhere that is apparently in all out civil war besides the obviously placed AI enemy and a few straggling civilians. The gameplay however feels like they've copied and pasted everything from BF3 into a semi different-ish scenario. however the major downfall for me has to be the fact I haven't actually been able to get any further than the third mission (I'll keep this as spoiler free as possible) while driving (sailing?) a boat back to an even bigger ship I was hit by a huge wave of bugs and glitches planes hovering doing nothing, gunfire coming from an invisible enemy ship, enemies disappearing in front of my eyes, at one point my ship randomly exploded for no apparent reason, the (useless) AI screaming at me to watch out for the helicopter that is supposedly coming for us, I saw no helicopter and a ship that is impossible to catch up with its almost as if when you think you're getting close the captain presses a boost button. Now don't get me wrong this game has got potential but I feel they have rushed to get the 360 version onto the market while focussing all their attention to the future Xbox One version of the game and on multiplayer. I haven't played any of the multiplayer aspects of BF4 just yet I was planning to finish the story before doing so but now I'm a little scared that I will be met with endless lag and bugs.
The final verdict is, this game has potential its got brilliant graphics and realistic war zones, but unfortunately lacks the polish it so rightly deserves. If I were you I wouldn't do what I did and waste £40 on a current gen copy and wait that little bit longer for next gen warfare.

I haven't touched SP as that isn't why I buy BF games but from experience in multiplayer, let me tell you... It is littered with bugs, game breaking bugs. My first few days prior to launch consisted of the worst rubber banding I've ever experienced in any video game, it was so terrible in all play count servers that I never even noticed any of the other bugs the game has.

Though a week after launch the rubber banding issue is fixed (For myself at least, not everyone it seems) but now I get to experience wait times almost as long as play times because of constant client crashes that rarely see me end a game without a crash, my battlelog stats tell me I have a 55% leave rate so basically I leave at least once per round if not more, it even crashes when loading up sometimes.

Releasing a game in this state is inexcusable, it doesn't matter what you say, a game as broken as this doesn't deserve to even be released yet and it's freaking amazing that they managed to put a game on sale that is even buggier than it's beta state!

TL;DR: Don't bloody buy this broken buggy piece of ass, hell even when it is fixed (Or should I say, if?) don't even buy it, they've pulled the same as BF3 and I'm sick of big companies getting away with it while the kids sit back and say "Hey man, you should expect bugs for such a large game"

I'll compare this game (and BF3) to BF2.

    1. Crashes every time.
I bought BF3, never got to play it. The browser system was crap, and I couldn't join one server without being 'disconnected from EA'. At least BF4, I got to play. However, every 30 minutes, it crashed. This isn't final product. This isn't beta. This isn't Alpha. This is, PRE-ALPHA. Stop selling sub-par product, EA!!!

    2. DLC, cheap marketing
Suuuuuuuuuuuure, selling DLC even before the original comes out? GREAT IDEA! Also, stop selling MOH with the bait of BF series. They said MOH:tier 1 buyers will get EXCLUSIVE BF3 beta. You know what BF3 beta was? OPEN BETA. They said MOH:warfighter buyers will get EXCLUSIVE BF4 beta. Guess what? IT WAS OPEN BETA. Stop with the goddamn marketing schemes. Also, Please stop selling 'battlepacks', which are items in game to rack up more money. That kind of structure is only for free to play. This is BS.

    3. Commander mode
BF3 doesn't have it, but at least BF4 has it. That's good right? Nope. NO VOIP to order to squads, and none of any game changing decisions available. Vehicle's ammo is replenished automatically (say whaa?), and repairs are too easy to get. There was a time when commander crates were imperative(bf2), but nooooooo, you don't need it in this structure. Cruise missile is also and AC-130? Guess what? It shoots .22LR. No, it would be better if it shot that. 25mm does no damage (Did experiments. 20 second engagement on standing target has 0 damage), 40mm also has no power at all, and 105mm, if you have a direct hit on human target (direct. has to hit direct.), you might have a chance to kill it. Screw that..

    4. Game mechanic.
There's so many things, that I can't even write it all. Missiles aren't missiles. They are super mobile (Even more mobile than THAAD. It's like an insect that can fly at over 300m/s), which can never, ever be outmaneuvered unless you use flares. This "turning around 180 degrees in 0.3 seconds to kill" BS started from BFBC:2.
Unlimited ammo of vehicles, even in hardcore. Ammo is unlimited in this game. Instead, you have a friggin ammo pool or something. Jesus.
BALANCING TO THE MAX: What? Tanks are stronger than infantry? OMG we have to balance it! There you go, now tanks aren't powerful than infantry. What? A-10 can kill tanks? OK then, then let's let tanks be able to destroy jets too! THAT.
There's so much more, but I'll stop for now.

    5. Levolution rip-off
Oh so much levolution, such awesome, have to buy this game before it comes out!
    Yeah.........
repetitive events that keep happening? Sure, that's fun.
Bring down a guard tower in Operation Locker? THAT'S GAME CHANGING OMG! (not)

    6. Perks
Yeah... I have to choose perks for vehicles? So, when I'm driving, my tank has anti air, and if my friend takes the wheel by pressing F1, the vehicle suddenly changes to a tank with active protection and HE shells? SOUNDS LEGIT! This is really, really lame. They copied all these 'perk' systems from COD, and I really dislike COD. Hence, I don't like it here.

There's so many things I could say, but I'll stop for now.

I'm really surprised how well optimised the game is on AMD hardware. While the beta ran poorly on my PC, the full game runs at a constant 60fps on high settings at 1080p on my budget gaming PC (6300 6-core processor 7850 2GB GFX and 8GB ram).

The multi-player is sheer brilliance, the crazy happenings on 64 player maps make you generally feel like you're on a battlefield and will constantly make you laugh out loud. the sound and feel of the guns are great and the potential to level up looks long winded adding good longevity to the game. A special mention must go to the new game mode obliteration, so much fun!

The levels of destruction, amount of vehicles, changing weather patterns, levolution, all make this a fantastic package....All for a meagre £30!!

Soon as the bugs are ironed out this will be my favourite game of the year next to GTAV.

Multiplayer is supposed to be the core of the experience, but is literally unplayable(at the moment). The few times it has worked, there have been audio bugs, certain areas not rendering at all, net code issues, frequent server instability, etc.. The server browser is still lacking in basic functionality, such as filtering out full or empty servers and frequently will not display server ping.

I say "at the moment", but really there is no good reason the game should be unplayable for the majority of people on release. Most bugs are easily reproducible and gamebreaking. If only there'd been a beta test before release, then there wouldn't be the need for one now. Bugguness and rough edges are expected to some extent for a new release, but a product which is unplayable for many users is unbelievable.

I find this game too similar to BF3. It feels more like a big DLC than a whole new game. However, the game is fun and as soon as launch glitches and crashes are taken care of it should be a solid game.
If you played BF3 and didn't like I'd strongly suggest skipping this one. If you didn't play it or you loved it, this is a good title to get.

Ill be honest, at first i thought this was great, but the more i play the worse i realize it is, the attack helis are still blatantly op with a half decent pilot and gunner, being able to destroy just about anything with relative ease, spawns are terrible in some game modes, the netcode is straight up broken as are the servers. a decent game but too much is wrong with it for a decent review.

    - The Best -
    Level Design
    Level destruction
    Level dynamics
    Graphics

The levels and visuals in Battlefield are by far the best part of this game. The changing landscape and destructible environment makes the game feel very cool. There are moments when you are unable to capture an enemy point, so you decide to tank the entire place down instead. Those saying that this is merely a gimmick are insane. No other games even attempts to do the things that this game does. From capture points that move depending on who owns them, levels flooding and needing to make your way to higher ground, or a hurricane coming through and making waves huge, the levels are by far the most impressive thing about Battlefield 4. Hiding behind a concrete wall? Too bad, a tank just blew that ish up and you need to move. Camping on top of a building as a sniper? Make sure you base jump off when you here it rumbling to the ground. 10/10 for the level concepts, and all visuals in general. Very impressive on Max settings.

    - The Good -
    Player spawn system
    Vehicle balance
    Gun Balance

    - The Bad -
Glitchy movement, especially around recently demolished items
    Glitchy sound
    General Mobility
General "Make things easier" modes actually make things harder.

For all the great things this game does, it is lacking in some pretty basic functions. By far the most frustrating thing in the game in my opinion so far is the inability to maneuver around and over certain objects. There will be moments where nothing but a 2x4 sitting 5 inches above the ground will stop you from going to where you want to go. Try to jump over it, and you will hit an imaginary ledge that you cannot jump over unless you step back and clear the object all together. It can be worked around, but in a game that should be as fast paced as ever, you get slowed down by some really stupid stuff. This problems happens the most with objects that have been destroyed, but it even happens without it at times, making this a big downside for me.

Another reason for not giving this game a higher score was the glitched out sound. The game really feels like an unfinished product when you are running in a giant battlefield, only to have a tank go right past you..... while you hear absolutely nothing. The sound decides to just drop out entirely whenever it feels like it in certain levels, and it is pretty amazing that this problem wasn't fixed earlier. I realize that this problem will be fixed in upcoming patches, but this is a clear sign that Battlefield wanted to beat out the release date of COD Ghosts, and worried less about the finished product. The funny thing is, the sound issue wasn't in the beta, which just means they were trying to get as many people to play their most popular and complete level, not actually bug testing. Highly disappointing from EA, but i've come to expect that from them.

Another gripe I have about the game play is any and all mechanics that attempt to make the user do less action to perform something. For example, leaning around walls by just walking up to them and aiming down sight is awful. It sounds good on paper, making the user not have to hit any extra buttons, but it is a bad idea. Too often you will get into an argument with a wall, hoping to lean out one direction, only to aim down sight and look at the pretty texture at the wall. Other times you will lean the wrong way entirely, making you look like a buffoon. Other times you will be ready to line up a player in your sights, only to put your bipod down on a rock and totally throw off your aim. Or you will try to jump up on top of a ledge to snipe off of, only to have your guy do a 1 hand hurdle all the way off the building forcing you to parachute. If you want to add those ideas into the Xbox or Playstation because those players don't have the buttons to perform separate actions, fine. But don't do it to a pc gamer who has 100 extra buttons he could use to lean, or hurdle, or use a bipod. The attempt to make the game easier for the player just makes it more clunky.

So in conclusion, I gave this game an 8.5. In its current state, I would give it a 7.5, but given that some of the bugs are minor and will be fixed shortly, I feel its fair to give it a rating of 8. If I could, i'd give it an 8.5.

The game will blow you away graphically, and it won't disappoint you in combat either. Aside from the few hiccups, this game is one of the best FPS I've played in a while. The gun mechanics are challenging enough to keep you interested, and the guns you unlock are well worth the effort. Don't let the exaggerated negative comments stop you from experiencing this game.

Have you ever played any other Battlefield or Call of Duty game? Well then save your money because this is no different. The "gameplay" is boring and repetitive. The story is awful. The online mode is great, if you think 64 7-year-olds calling you a is great. There are no redeeming qualities to this "Game", save your money and buy Wind Waker HD or Batman: Arkham Origins.

The game as it is now is decent. It shows a lot of potential, but it's quite poorly executed. You realize that EA wants to make as much money as possible and promotes premium features and battlepacks making the players almost having to buy more content to thoroughly enjoy the game.

The graphics are great! I love them! A huge improvement over the last Battlefield title and it was better than I had expected, even if I can not run the game on higher settings than medium. However, sometimes the graphics flickers a lot and it becomes difficult to see enemies further away from you, and flickering objects easily draws your attention away from the enemies.

There have been some improvements to the game over Battlefield 3 that I really like. For example being able to select where to spawn by clicking on the map. Also weapon customization has been improved, but I really miss the ability to quickly change weapon with only a few clicks. Now I have to go in and change the weapon in the customization menu instead of doing it at the deploy menu.

Some of the maps are great, while others are just ok, and a few are not worth playing at all I feel. Some of them feel rushed and unfinished, not suited for this kind of game at all. Others are great, and offer huge playability with all the gamemodes available.

Battlelog has disappointed me a little. The server browser is far inferior to the one available for Battlefield 3 and I would really want to see more options when searching to servers. It also doesn't seem to show all servers available and seems kind of random at times.

The unlock system is very similar to the one in Battlefield 3, but I feel with the introduction of battlepacks, it has become slightly worse. Also with the huge amount of unlocks available for every gun, it feels like it takes ages to unlock something you want.

When the game works, it feels good and is quite enjoyable, but that is not often. Most of the times the game won't even launch, but instead battlelog gets stuck at the joining server message blinking and the game isn't even starting. The game also crashes and disconnects a lot. I feel this is unacceptable since we paid for a fully working game, yet it feels like a beta/alpha version with a lot of bugs and crashes that still needs to be resolved.

The guns overall feels quite nice, but some weapons really behave weird and not at all like they did in the previous title. Overall the gameplay is quite different and you need to get used to the new guns and attachements before you can perform very well. Some guns are ridiculously underpowered and desperately needs some tweaking, but I haven't really found an overpowered weapon yet, which is nice.

If the game did not have so many issues, I would have rated it higher. However, it shows a lot of potential and can be rated higher in the future if they fix these problems. Therefore I feel that a 5 is a fair rating for this game. My advice is to wait before buying this game, since it's near unplayable for a lot of people. In a few months the developers have hopefully fixed a lot of issues. Also, expect to be paying for more than the actual game if you want to be able to enjoy this game for several years to come, because EA and Dice will try to force people in to buying Premium and Battlepacks. Personally, I am really against this kind of thing with DLC and premium features, I mean I already paid a ridiculously high amount for the game itself, why pay just as much again just so I can get a few more maps and weapons? We'll wait and see how much content premium actually offers, but unless I can find it at a huge discount, I will not buy it.

The other issue I have, and sadly it's common practice now, but the premium and DLC packs. In a sense I don't consider these packs taking away from the main game because the amount of maps the main game has is on par with all previous titles have at launch. The downside to me is the fact at one time maps and DLC was free, or even cheap, not $15 for four maps.

Furthermore the gameplay is good as always, but the biggest improvements is the map design is a little more open then 3 in my view. Metro and other maps failed at times as it was too linear for a BF game without multiple access points, and these maps seem to have corrected that issue. Also there is more emphasis on vehicles on some maps, and even naval warfare on a couple of maps. Finally the levolution technology which is a cool idea seeing certain parts of the map changing the dynamic of your strategy, but it isn't always executed well. Some maps change how you attack a point, but other times it just adds some debris in the way.

In regards to the single player campaign it's nothing special. It has some cool moments and it's fun, but it isn't long or anything revolutionary. It's a typical popcorn flick in which there is a lot of action, a basic story without much character development, and it consists a few what you would call wow moments. Overall the game feels more stable then BF3, and it has some nice changes which I think are good. If you like multiplayer shooters, definitely check out; however, if you are a player who randomly enjoys them, then wait for a sale on the main game or get BF3 as you have plenty of choices for your FPS fix.

Levolution, while awesome to look at, doesn't shake things up as much as I was hoping, but on the other hand, they did bring back the destructible buildings that bc2 had, and thank god for it.
As for game modes, conquest and rush are still as fun as they always were, and the addition of obliteration, while frustrating at some points, can really have some tense moments, and overall, is very enjoyable.
Singleplayer was crappy and forgettable, but let's be honest, why the hell would you buy a battlefield game for the singleplayer.

Of course, you have to pay incredible amounts of money to get the full game experience.

I haven't even scratched the surface. This game is very sub-par. Basically just Battlefield 3.2

Maybe because they only look for or maybe they cut down costs, if you have PATCH in first week after release there is good indicator that you doing wrong. They made milions of from the last game, and this is their best? COME ON. I dont know what is happening to the gaming industry, but it's bad.

I'm not going to brag myself, but i need to say how i have monester pc, and after few minutes of playing bf4 i thought the problem is in my video cards, or drivers, or my disc or whatever, god dosent like me and so on, but then i saw the same problems have people who have better (15 000$ pc) and worst systems then me. So I realized there is something wrong with that game, like others that come out in this year unfinished product. So i have about 15 min (the most) long experience in multiplayer, there is a lot, A LOT of bugs, from texture, sound, fading soldiers and so on. And the singleplayer OMG, i still dont know what is worst, single or multi and i am realistic, because if you make such singleplayer where is unreal, fast and incomplete then dont even make half od product. I mean they have the best in the world, and that is not best. You will se on the end what i talk about.

So I go on the start of this post, and ask myself how come there is guys who are in the games everyday, who are "pro" in their line of work, give game like this 10, or 9. HOW? Base on what? They get money for their score? Look at the user score and critic score, something is wrong here, I belive in users like me, because most of us are real, and we give score base on facts and actual situation.

With milions of and few year in building progres they deliver THIS!? What is new here? This games become like sports game, the same game, just diffrent year on the cover, and you pay full price. People are not stupid, they will not buy unfinish crap all the time.

The gaming industry has become too greedy and they dont see the full picture, they have money in their eyes, not gamers, and that is sad. This is not the first game that need first day patch, and that make me sad. Because I once enjoyed in games, when you buy it, you know that is final product, now you dont know WHAT TO EXPECT!?!?

We all know that battlefield has a great history of awful campaigns ,but this one is just absolutely empty. The plot is really uninteresting, even though it tries to give us a brief overview of characters the game ends too soon to make us feel anything for them. Story has to show all vehicles (air/ground/water) not just few of them and it really lacks freedom in game play ,i mean really its battlefield series after all so i would at least expect possibility to change story path by choosing my own actions The end mission decision really does not count). But never mind the story mode ,lets talk about the diamond of the battlefield series.

The Multiplayer. Oh my god ,the multiplayer. I will not lie ,i did have some fun playing it ,but i could as well say that i did have some fun playing call of duty for 30 minutes and threw it in my games box afterwards. We all know about these common pc crashes (applies to single player too) and disconnects that seriously hurt when you are having a clan match, these problems SHOULD NOT EXIST, as the beta was absolute disaster we should at least expect technical improvement after so much torture, but no ,it really feels like the focus of all time was the consoles even though the game plays nearly as awful. A personal issue for me would be the sniper class, in hardcore mode they are absolute quick scope master class ,i am saying that because i tried the class and i got 300 kills in about 6 hardcore matches. We all know that at the moment air rules the battlefield as the ground vehicles were nerfed while air was powered up to the max ,you can dominate the battlefield without any unlocks.

I will give this game a 0 ,not because it is that awful ,but because the Dev's did not put effort in the things that make battlefield play like BATTLEFIELD. I am really disappointed, because i spent around 600$ to improve my pc so i could run the game flawlessly ,while it really doesn't show any features that should require such expensive gear.

I love battlefield series and i will not tolerate if this game gets destroyed because of devs focus towards unecessary features instead of what the game really is about.

BF4 is the worst game of the series, stupid and short campaign, crashes, bugs, lags, freezes, progress in MP doesn't save, server crashes. I can't even play one round without crash!!! Levolution looks just like stupid childish explosions, 2 years they were making it, Frostbite 3 is much worse than Frostbite 2. The only positive moment is graphics, but... The AI is just awful.

WHEN it doesn't crash frequently, it can actually be fun to play. But to think that companies think its ok to release games in this state on PC when most wouldn't dare to release the same on consoles, its quite sad. Thankfully, my refund is already being processed.

Crap game, nothing but a sad cash in by the suits at EA who don't care about games. And you can tell all those nice reviews are all paid by EA when most of the USER reviews here are showing that theyre not happy with the game anyway, it is boring and the campaign is so dull and short, i can't believe battlefield games are just going backwards everytime a new one comes out, i want my money back

Battlefield 4? really? There wasnt even a need for this sequel. The singleplayer plot is unrealistic, predictable and uninteresting. the game is very buggy and has crashed for me multiple times. The destroyable environments are not realistic at all. Over-the-top action sequences makes the game feel played-out and unrealistic. In multiplayer you will spend most of your time trying to find a vehicle or an enemy and getting sniped down rather than having fun. This dissapointing "game" feels like a 30 dollar DLC package still in its beta stage... Expand

Probably the worst battlefield game ever made, reeking of money hungry companies that do not care about the community at all.

After 3 days of game play all that has happened was; me getting completely bored and having to force myself to finish the 7 level campaign that has no story, getting frozen out of the multiplayer servers 50% of the games and losing xp every single time.

Getting spawned on and being killed every 20 seconds in most types of games. But the biggest disappointment is that 80% of the unlocks for multiplayer come from the battlecrates which you either have to pay for, or slowly play on premium(40$) to receive one a week, meaning I cant even use half of the things in the DAMN GAME I JUST BOUGHT.

A sore disappointment in the series. While this game still has potential of surpassing Battlefield 3. It fails by a long-shot. Call me a hater. But this game is not Battlefield. With bugs ranging from connection problems, graphical errors (during the first few days my game looked like a colorful mess), spawning is horrid on almost every map (I get sniped instantly), I cant even load into a Conquest or Rush server because the load times are so long that I just get disconnected due to a map change. Forcing me to play TDM or other smaller map gamemodes. Anyone who says this game is great from the start is completely wrong. I could compare this start to SimCity. (Yeah that bad) I wasnt even able to play the campaign for 5 minutes without crashing. I even lowered my settings to lowest, and Im only able to get an extra 10 minutes of gameplay.

Although this game does have potential. I am severely disappointed in DICE and EA for pushing this game out to early. It needs more time for development. No one should buy this game at its current state.

The multiplayer is some of the best I've ever played, so why do I give the game a 6? BECAUSE ITS THE SAME GAME AS BATTLEFIELD 3!!! They changed almost NOTHING! Sure they improved the physics so they're more realistic, but that is it. This game might as well as been a Battlefield 3 patch. Expand

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
