Unity and Black Flag were Peak of Assassin's Creed, that's absolute fact. Those two games were both ahead of time and simply great! This is one my favorite Assassin games. How the hell did this one get so much hate for bugs, when way buggier games or equally buggy games get all the excuses in the world? So unfair. Unlike trash games like Fallout 4 that gets all the excuses possible, Unity is actually worth playing. Actually good game. The story and the characters are a lot more interesting and you will get dragged into the story from the very start. I read some of the bad reviews here and everyone is rating it a 0 because of low fps, calling it unoptimized. Sure its very demanding and sure they will optimize it more, but the game has insane details so low end and medium systems will have a hard time running this right now.

Still, its ridiculous to rate it a 0 because of that, this is the best in the series by far.

My only real complaint preventing me from giving a 10 is the story, which I found to lack clarity and purpose. But the gameplay is tons of fun, with more tools and freedom than ever to assassinate your targets the way you plan it. Expand

I can't believe this game gets such low reviews. I imagine it's all due to the glitches that it suffered at launch. I'm playing it one month later and it's working really fine. Some NPC sometimes behave wierdly, but you can live with that, happens in mostly all the games.

I am playing it at 4K resolution with a GTX 970, at max (ultra) settings and it runs fine, it may get slow FPS occasionally but come on! I could just reduce something and it would be smooth as butter always.

I read most people criticize it comparing it to Black Flag and the earlier games.. I'm not comparing it. I remember reading the same criticism about Black Flag last year. I think Unity is awesome, Paris is awesome and it's a pleasure to just explore it. There are so many things to do, and graphically.. man, it's a treat. Best graphics ever, except maybe just Crysis 3. The light, the effects.. it feels like playing in a '800 painting.

Maybe the average guy doesn't care about that. I do. And it's an awesome experience, worth the price (that by the way, got much cheaper considering the bad ratings).

And COOP is real fun, much better than the average multiplayer. There is a lot of content overall in the game, different kind of solo and coop missions etc.. you hardly get bored or see the end of it. I don't know if this is the best AC ever, it's simply a very good and fun one.

So yes, maybe it's good they release games with bugs, so people gets angry, write bad reviews and prices drop, and you also get for free what was supposed to be a DLC (Dead Kings). I think it's a steal now, just get it!!

Heavily underrated game that improved upon the traditional formula of AC games in so many ways without losing its identity. Because this is at its core what an Assassin's Creed game should look like:

No pirates, no Indian tribe story, no Grand Theft Horse Carriages - just grounded urban assassinations and infiltrations. In addition to that we have the best parcour system of the series with great fluidity and animations, a challenging combat system with a huge variety of weapons and great character customization through equipment.
Now, they did go too far at some points, for example the skill tree, who is just absolutely unnecessarily restricting your gameplay options, but that's okay. The biggest problem however remains the lack of polish. The game did so much new stuff and improved upon so much on such a large scale, as a result controls can become inaccurate and clumsy (best seen when trying to enter through a window or trapdoor) and bugs still frequently occur.
Gladly these are no longer game-breaking as they were on release, who as it seems still unjustifiably taint the user score of this brilliant game here on Metacritic. Performance and framerate are also good, considering the beautiful graphics and scale of ingame Paris.

Sadly, many of the improvements made by Unity were reverted for the succeeding entries instead of polishing their rough edges. Because in Unity we have: Co-op missions, great character customization, freely approachable assassination missions, a challenging and interesting combat system, the best parcour system, detective missions and much, much more including minor improvements like not having missions fail instantaneously but instead offering new objectives to make up for failed attempts and more.

So, if you like Assassin's Creed, history, or 3rd person action games in general: Buy this game!

I do know that some are experiencing glitches. All I can say to them is to make sure they have the latests drivers and to disable SLI entirely to see if they still have problems. Another solution might be to disable 'Motion Blur' in the graphics options. Although I have a 5960X with a Palit GTX 980, I still think that players with less powerfull setups could easily manage to get the game going ...

But a very good CPU (at least a 4xxxK) should be used to play this game. Yes guys, read this well: mid-setups from 4 years ago are not going to give you a good framerate in this game. And a 4770K is not this good compared to a 3770K. Maybe you should go for a new PC if you have this type of setup as all future games are going to be very demanding on the CPU side of things. In fact, the main engines are evolving right now to match the new baseline enacted by cur-gen consoles. As such, the PC basic requirements are already evolving right now ...

To other users: I'm getting 45-59 frames with all maxed/FXAA. GTX 770, i5-3570k. For those of you with performance problems I'd say to fix your settings, and compare with performance you got in Black Flag. Don't try to run Anti Aliasing passed 2x or FXAA, because it is ridiculously demanding as any PC gamer should know.

The fact that this game gives me very similar performance to black flag is commendable, the game looks beautiful. Usually when a sequel comes out to a game a year later, you can expect it to be more demanding on your PC. This game is decently optimized. As I said my setup is modest and I'm cruising through at an average 45 frames with visuals turned up all the way save AA.

It used to be that when a new game came out and your computer had trouble running it, you would play it on medium/low settings. If you can't handle tweaking your graphics grab an XBOX.

Honestly if you expect this game to run better than Black Flag.. Don't comment on performance at all. Look, I know it's trendy to rip on ubisoft, but doing so doesn't make you knowledgeable about system performance, Rate the game for its gameplay and story and stop rating good titles like this into the ground because your computer sucks or you are incapable of configuring your system or proper graphics settings.

Vsync disabled in-game but forced vsync through D3Doverrider or Radeon Pro boosts performance significantly and screen tearing is almost non-existing. My Resolution is 1440p on specs: AMD fx8320 clocked at 4Ghz, sli 770 4gb cards w/ 8gb ram. SweetFx enabled to improve graphics dramatically.
honestly, this game rocks! Performance and optimization is not great by any means but even running in the mid 30's fps, the game is very smooth. ** I have tested this game on a single 770 card at 1080p w/ max settings and i never drop below 35 fps with sweetfx enabled** so if you have a single card of equal performance to a GTX 770 4gb, running max settings @1080p is a reality you can expect with smooth gameplay.
Playing the game will make you understand why the performance is lacking even with a beefy PC. The graphics are unparalleled and the amount of detail is incredible! Hundreds of characters on screen, life like surroundings, lighting, reflections, shadows and tessellation effects like never before seen!
Gameplay is fun with new free running moves and fighting mechanics. Story is not mind-blowing but it is engaging. The environment is so incredibly well done that you will want to explore every inch of the world you are in.
I dont understand why others are having performance issues with better specs than mine.... reports of fps in the 20s with 780ti??? Something doest add up. Play the game!! It is great!!

This game has a very good storyline and I like how it feels like an upgraded version for the first Assassin's Creed, you have one hidden blade which is exactly like the first game, you have Arno which looks like a French Ezio and the graphics are amazing! I may play this game on the lowest settings and on 800x450 resolution with scaling but I can still tell you that the graphics is amazing because I don't really care about graphics alot, mainly I care about the performance and storyline. My laptop is a i5-3317u with 6gb ram and nvidia GT635M and I run this game at about 15-18fps with quite smooth gameplay. I would give this game a 10/10 if there weren't any problems but since I gave a 9/10, there is a problem. First of all, the performance, yes the performance, I have seen people with GTX graphics card reaching low fps and I know Ubisoft can do better than that. But the problem which made it 9/10 is the fact that this game has been worked around for 4 years and in the 4 years, Ubisoft has been busy making this game but still delivered a...well... poorly optimized game. Ubisoft, Alex Amancio, stop the microtransactions please. < Another problem stated. Now, my next problem isn't with the company but with people, most of them at the very least. Since technology and industries have gone bigger and bigger, people strive for AMAZING graphics, for AMAZING storyline, for AMAZING gameplay... yet all I see now are people complaining about unsatisfying graphics like 90% of the time. If it is graphics you're looking for, then why do you play these games? For entertainment? No, entertainment doesn't have anything to do with graphics, it's more towards storyline and gameplay. You play these games for... as I would say, art, not in the way where I would see. My art is about storyline, gameplay, playable decent graphics. I wouldn't mind having graphics like the first Assassin's Creed for AC Unity as long as I enjoy it. But your art is about beautiful, amazing looking environments, amazing looking characters, hair details, eye details, every single bit of texture is your concern. You do not care about the gameplay or the storyline, you care about graphics. And this is why companies are able to deliver poorly optimized game or even optimized games that doesn't even satisfy you. They worked their asses off to create games and yet all you care about is graphics(90% of the time) which is like less than half of what they want you to experience. They may tell you to visit beautiful Paris in the 18th century, they may tell you to explore the Notre Dame de Paris with beautiful details. But games like Minecraft, you enjoy them not for the graphics right? Then stop complaining please, I may sound like a butthurt person... well maybe I am kinda but seriously, companies deliver what you want them to deliver, companies only make games with amazing graphics because YOU wanted them, if you were like "I want an amazing storyline for the next game in the series", then they would decrease their work on the graphics and more into the storyline. Yes this game has glitches and bugs, but that's the risk you have to pay. I also seen reviews saying that this is a copy of the other AC games. And honestly, this brought me to the thought when someone(forgot who was it) that reviewed saying that Pokemon X and Y still feels like a Pokemon game...like wtf? How do want Pokemon to feel like? Like Call of Duty? Pokemons picking up guns shooting at people like GTA? No! Assassin's Creed games are third person, checked. They are about going back to history, checked. They have free roam, checked. The Assassins have hidden blades, checked. Assassins do parkour, checked. I don't want an Assassin's Creed game to be first person shooter, I want it like how it originally is. Like Call of Duty or Battlefield, it started off as a FPS and it still is a FPS. Games have their own respective types as I would say. I can't say more, I'm in lost for words a second ago and I thought I would be able to write down alot, well... If anyone who is reading this, just think of what I said and think of the future of the gaming industries and gaming itself. Expand

It's an incredibly beautiful game in an awesome setting, extremely cinematic, the characters feel very alive, and all the changes to gameplay have been a ton of fun. You don't even need to have played the last few, the plot can stand alone on its own. I'm definitely recommending it, especially since they've pretty much patched all the problems anyone was having, and are now offering the first two DLC's (which are huge expansions) for free. Perhaps its because i waited before i ever started playing it, maybe its the patches, idk. Alls i know is that unity is working fine for me and i am really enjoying it. There is so many times i find myself admiring the screen. The graphics have really really great looking moments that are rare in an open world game. A lot of polish but there are some not pretty things to. But it is easily forgivable cause there are just as much stunning. i love games that impress and if you have specs enough to play on ultra, this one sure will.

Not sure about frame rates (as long as the game doesn't look choppy I'm happy), but I am running all the graphics settings on very high and it looks absolutely stunning.

Gameplay wise I really felt a return to the earlier Assassin's Creed games in terms of missions, free-form assassinations and dense cities with plenty of climbing space. This was sorely missed in the blunder that was AC3 and AC4, which while a thoroughly enjoyable and stunning game, just didn't feel like assassins creed.

One thing I really like is the integration of co-op/multiplayer in this game. I am anti-social at the best of times and really hate games that push too much multiplayer on you, especially when opting out of it prevents you from finishing the game fully (*side-eyes most recent chapter of splinter cell*). In ACU the coop stuff is there if you want it, but you never really need to.

My only real gripes about this game so far are the usage of pay-to-win (let's just call a spoon a spoon) which I despise in any game (although kind of understand the logic as Ubisoft lost a ton of revenue to pirates, not the ACIV kind, who then go and give their games bad reviews because they cant get the game fixing patches), and the fact that Initiates was fully integrated into the game even though it is broken and has been since before ACIV.

All in all if you can run this game and like the earlier titles, this will be a great game, enjoy.

If your rig is decent enough to play it, then give it a shot. I can run it on high and although it is still a bit slow at times it most definitely does not stop me playing it.

Now, as for the game itself... This is the first AC I've played and I'm enjoying it! The Graphics are awesome and the FPS is somewhere around 60 (40ish and glitchy with FRAPS running). I run everything on High or Ultra-High.

My machine is high end but, not ultra high end. I run a single R9-290 GPU and a 3570K with 16 Gigs of RAM.

Everything else seems pretty good though, HBAO+ doesn't seem to cause that much of a performance hit, and very high textures doesn't either (although my card has 4gb of vram so that may be helping). The unstable frame rate while running through town that is typical with every AC game i've played seems to be a relatively non issue here. The fighting mechanics are much improved although they do take some getting used to. The story so far seems a bit generic but i'll post an update when I finish the game.

With that aside (this should also tell you that I am not the biggest die hard AC fan, having taken a long hiatus), so far the game is quite enjoyable. I see that there is a lot of flak given to the optimization for PC sucking, which I fully expected, I am delighted to say that I am running 60fps 80% percent of the time. When I do get frame dips, its never below 40, so not really a big deal. For those wondering here are my specs:
i5 4670k Overclocked to 4.2ghz (I do have a master cooler CPU fan so that def helps)
    GTX 780 3GDRM
    16 gigs of RAM
Anywho, Im not super far in the game, but i wanted to write this for those skeptical about getting it.. If you like AC, you'll like this game; if you don't, or have been getting tired of the AC franchise, then dont. But regardless, the fluidity of movement and parkour is drastically better than previous iterations, and the ambitious scope of the game is astounding. Combat has been improved and is definitely more difficult than before, but still not punishing to frustration.
My biggest beef with the game right now is the accents.. why British? The voice actors CAN speak French, and i cant fathom why they dont at least speak with a french accent.. is it so hard? I know this seems nit picky, but in a world that is so beautifully realized, it really does take you out of the immersion and the France locale.
Seriously though, I FULLY expected that the optimization would suck, but Ubisofts RECOMMENDED specs are quite accurate. If you meet the specs but were skeptical, go ahead and stop it, get the game, PM me and lets get assassinating!

Even with the slow frame rate, the game looks stunning. It's massive too. The whole town of Paris to explore and thousands of NPC's on the screen at one time. It looks amazing. Especially when you climb to the top of a historic building like Notre Dame and it pans out to see the whole of Paris. There's also I smaller Versailles to explore with a few missions. This is where the story starts for Arno ( your character through out the story).

As for Gameplay. It's a little Difficult. They sort of fixed the parkour with you now being able to tell Arno to Parkour up or down with the press of different buttons. other wise he takes the "straightest" route. Arno doesn't always go the direction you tell him, but that may be because I still need to get used to the new mechanics. Combat is more fluid, but also more difficult. AI doesn't attack you one at a time anymore so you have to be really paying attention if you're going to play the berserker role a lot. There's also no cue for when they attack other than the animated motion of them attacking. Except for ranged they do have a crosshair icon. Stealth could be a little more refined. It's hard to tell sometimes if you're still in cover mode or not. Moving from cover to cover isn't always perfect either.

Customization. One word. Awesome. I love building my character gear around stealth. They only bad thing is the lack of color schemes. I would have preferred to have like a color wheel and get really custom colors of my choosing, but it's not the worse thing.

The story of course follows Arno. Not gonna spoil it, but it is another revenge story. Pretty similar to Ezio's story from AC2. It does well to keep me engaged, but I haven't played more than three of the sequences because the side quests are actually fun. Lots of things to do. You have lots of assassination missions. The murder mysteries are entertaining. Plus you get weapons and gear from solving the murders to help progress your character and the role you chose to play. Tons of things to do. There's also like a pub & inn place that you renovate for income which you can use to do more renovations or buy more gear for your character. Trust me you need the income for gear. the high end stuff is costly.

It's a lot of fun. Lot's of things to do. Could refine a few things, but all in all a game worth picking up. Especially if you're a fan of the series. Don't let all these nay sayers talk you out of it. But I do recommend some upgrades to your PC if it's been a while.

Besides, this game's way more than it's graphics. I haven't had the technical issues people are talking about, keep that in mind when you see I've given a high score.

first of all, this assassins creed is not about killing hundreds of enemies with a rapier without breaking a sweat. This assassins creed is about stealth, planning, and getting the better gear. Also, for once, the economy of the game is actually motivated. You're going to need that money to buy medicine, ammo, and new gear.

The city of Paris is stunning. I've been to Paris myself and they've really nailed the narrow streets, big squares, and the life of the city. Never before have I experienced an open game world so alive.

All in all, I love the new, more difficult, thus more rewarding crowd control combat. They've added some much needed free running controls. You are constantly rewarded for whatever you do in the world (similar to saints row 3). The downsides would be that it's difficult to find players for the 4-player missions. There are occasional graphical glitches that don't actually affect gameplay. "Stealthing" will initially be quite hard and you will probably die a few times, but this is why you'll spend so much time doing side missions to get the gear you want for your playstyle. The game could've been better optimised with fewer glitches, but this is a great game nevertheless. It's fun and it can played with French speech and English subs, which totally ads to the experience!

It's an undeniably beautiful game, if your PC can handle it (it's a bit of luck I suppose combined with good hardware) The graphics are a marked improvement over the previous game, but I was running at pretty high settings. The game goes back to the more classic AC style; running around a gorgeous city rather than the dullness of colonial American architecture or the Caribbean. With the addition of the interiors of many buildings, it really does feel more immersive.

The story gets off to an interesting start, the main character, Arno, is the son of an Assassin, who's father is killed is then taken in by a Templar and raised with his step sister; Elise. The story is primarily focused around assassinations, each sequence being quite short (there's 12 of them) and most involving one of the excellent assassination missions, which there are a bucketful of ways to approach each one, a couple of them having unique kills and all of them having tens of ways to infiltrate the area. These are the highlight of the main story. The ending is rather lackluster, it could have been implemented much better. The rest of the story however is exciting and while I was playing it I couldn't stop myself going for the next mission. I constantly wanted more. I still want more. Another downside is if you enjoy the modern day story, there isn't really much of it.

The side missions are rather good, there's hundreds of them seemingly, I haven't got through them all yet. The "Paris Stories" are the main ones, where you follow mini campaigns of citizens of Paris, solving their problems (which mostly involves killing people). There are also social clubs, which provide you with 3 missions each, each offering a cash reward, some very small, some very significant. Again, mostly these revolve around killing people.

Onto the coop mode. It worked most of the time for me, on release day it was having some trouble, as UPlay was offline, but when it worked it was really fun. I was playing with randoms but it would have been much more fun if my friends played it, so we could have some kind of coordinated effort. Killing two people in sync though is as satisfying as it looks on the promotional material. It's a joy to play and the missions are actually quite long, and can be played alone if you're up for the challenge.

The new combat system is a nice refresher for the boring simplicity which has plagued the previous games. Weapon tiers actually matter now, increasing damage and the health bar is back from the Ezio games, and the kill streak function is gone, to make it harder for you to take on large sums of enemies. This makes stealth a much more important factor in areas with lots of guards. The smoke bomb function is a useful one, but it has been nerfed a bit so that you cant kill everyone just by dropping one. It's mostly useful for running away or surprise attacks.

The free running mechanic has been upgraded and it looks and feels smoother than ever. It's more refined with the addition of the downward parkour being wonderful, it feels really good when you get it right. The motions look fluid and the running looks excellent. Overall it feels a bit different to old AC games in the free running regard, a nice improvement.

Now for the micro transactions. Honestly, if nobody had told me beforehand, I wouldn't have even known that they were there. The top tier gear is quite expensive but once you have cash rolling in from Café-Théâtre, it really doesn't take that long to get the cash, no longer than the best gear took in AC:IV. The companion app is absolutely dreadful however, I have no clue how to use it after spending about 15 minutes trying to fathom it and then giving up, as is the AC Initiates crap.

In summary, if your PC can handle it, it's one of the best games in the series yet, despite its disappointing ending, I've still had the most fun in this iteration of AC than I have since brotherhood. It was a good decision to go back to the original AC formula, and it has worked very well. It's visually stunning, the architecture is interesting and there's plenty to do. It's absorbing and immersive, with interesting combat and excellent free running. I can't recommend it enough.

This game doesn´t deserve all the beating. It´s technically advanced and gives us one of the most detailed cities in game history. With patches and DLC it runs perfectly smooth on a powerful PC.

People have to stop putting every graphics option to max. and then complaining about stuttering. If you want technological advances you can´t expect your mid-range PC to handle MAX. settings.

AC Syndicate is in no way better, they just reduced the level of detail of the game to make it run smoother. It´s a step back from AC Unity because no one seems to be able to get their settings right. Great work PC gamers! They played it safe with Syndicate and reduced detail, so you can´t mess up your game with exaggerted settings.

I played the game in 4K totally smooth and was blown away by the atmosphere, graphics and level of detail it delivered.

Paris in the midst of the revolution is a totally different thing compared to all the other cities we got in games so far! Something happens around every corner actually and it feels natural, because of the revolution. Animations and little happenings on the street further develop a very thick kind of atmosphere. Never seen that before in any game to this extend (not GTA5 or anything). You really feel like being there and taking part in the french revolution in a somehow historic manner. Pedestrians and city life were fabulous, concerning quantity and quality of the assets.

After AC Unity I was bored by Los Santos, San Andreas, Chicago, Hong Kong and so on. The cities in other open world games all seem boring and empty compared to Unitys Paris! The city is the star of this game and surpasses every other city seen until today on PC.

Story and gameplay are far better than the reviews make you think. Gameplay is the expanded AC standard and it´s fun and fits the setting perfectly. Story is good mostly, while the ending was not to my taste. The DLC is great however.

If you miss out on this I think you miss an important piece of the evolution of games. It has the most detailed, atmospheric and natural feeling city in any game including AC Syndicate. Additionally you get to see the french revolution in a comparable detailed, historical manner. Both of which are unsurpassed to date.

Simply put: Play it! ... if you know, how to get your settings tuned to your PCs capabilities. It´s not such a big mess. It´s rather quite beautiful!

I know, you will probably disagree with me. After all, Unity is considered almost a catastrophy, even by those who only go by hearsay and never even tried it.
Yes, it did have horrible problems at launch, and no, that should never happen, and any critique on that is totally deserved.
However, when I started playing this, Oct 2015, none of these problems occured. Indeed, the game ran fine

Yes, it did have horrible problems at launch, and no, that should never happen, and any critique on that is totally deserved.
However, when I started playing this, Oct 2015, none of these problems occured. Indeed, the game ran fine for me on my system (i7 4790, GTX 960 with 4 gigs, 16 gigs of Ram, Windows 7). No big framerate issues, no loading probs, no disfigured NPCs with non-loading facial textures etc.

What blows me away in this game is the atmosphere. They really DID an amazing job with Paris. Not only the actual vibe (dark,a little bit medieval with all the churches and stuff), but also when it comes to the maps (my gf loves Paris and knows the town well. We went on a sightseeing tour in game, and we found places like a hostel she used to stay at, a hotel she once stayed in etc.).
Paris is stunningly beautiful here, and there are SO VERY many people out there. You do feel that vibe of a town in trouble, with the revolution going on, and it's amazing to walk through huge crowds of people, even using them in your missions (killing from a crowd).

It's really special to climb Notre Dame, explore the inside etc.

Arno is not exactly a deep character, but much more likeable, to me, than Kenway, for example (both of them). He is out for revenge, he is a bit hotheaded, but he also is passionate and serious.
The story about his love for Elize and the hunt for this games MacGuffin isn't exactly deep, but it's ok.

There is a metric TON of side content... its overwhelming actually. Its a tendency we have seen in many recent Ubisoft games, and I didn't do all of it... it can get overwhelming and boring. However, if you wanna go for 100%, you'll get a ton of hours out of this.
The multiplayer is fun too... it's not too challenging, and it's fun to wreak havoc and take out targets with 1-3 other assassins, I enjoyed this a lot.

Lots of different weapons, outfits, talents, etc, too.

    Some problems:
    - If you accidentially start the DLC (the Dead Kings one), because you wanna fast travel to your mansion but choose the wrong icon on the overcrowded map, you cant leave until you do the first mission. Which will be quite challenging if you are too low regarding level and gear. It happened to me and I died a lot and had to use a YT-walkthrough to unlock the travelpoint that allowed me to return to Paris.

    - Some npcs sometimes get stuck

    - Enemy NPCs come in 4-5 different looks. However, I didn't notice that as much as I did in the horribly Snydicate, because the town looks so much more atmospheric, beautiful and captivating in Unity.

    - Side content is often copy and paste. Yes, murder mysteries etc are fun, and some of the side missions are nice to earn money, but they are not challenging or very interesting. The story side content (Napoleon etc) are quite ok though

    Pros:_
    - The town looks absolutely gorgeous
    - Very atmospheric, streets full of NPCs
    - Fun abilities
    - Big improvement on parcour, so much easier to climb up or down
    - Less tailing and eavesdropping than in BF... thank god
    - Lots of stuff to do
    - Fun to read historic info in the database
    - Nice tutorials
    - MP is fun
    - COmbat feels nice

    Cons:
    - Very demanding on yoru system. Worked fine on mine
    - TOO MUCH side content, and often repetitive
    - NPCs only come in small variieties and sometimes get stuck
    - Story and main character not exactly deep. YMMV

    Bottom line:
Yeah, the launch sucked. However, it does work now, at least it did perfectly fine on my system. So incredibly beautiful and atmospheric, and much more immersive than Syndicate, which to me is prolly the worst AC. 8/10

The grafics still one of the most beautiful on the market, and 6 years later, still is a real masterpiece, if the game was sold today, nobody will notice the diference, and will say that was one of the most realistc games in the industry. But unfortunately, the problem of the game isn't the gameplay or the programming problems, the problem is the story, the fake characters, the open and empty world, the not emersive environment, the weak plot, the historical errors and not using historic events in favor of the main story, you start the game don't knowing what cause the revolution, in the middle of the game you don´t know why the king was murder and who the f*** is the villain, or what are Robbespierre motivations, or why Napoleon is there. You are just a viewer of the events and don't known the political intrigue behind the scenes that made the Assassin's creed franchise so awesome, the main character its just a guy falling in love with a feminist women and living a forbidden love. Is like a french slushy and mediocre soap opera full of cliches and disposable characters, but (and its just a small detail) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION, the one of the most important and decisive events of western civilization!!! The game doesn't show any diference between what is good and what is bad, i known its very difficult to work with a plot envolving the creation of left and right wing politics, and choose in what side are the villains, but cmon, you don't need to create a religion fanatic villain with no motivations to escape the polemical politcal views, i think that was easier to choose a character like Robbespierre, make him a good guy and a symbol of hope, and then make him influenced by the power and creating a new dictatorship to show that its impossible to achieve freedom by the will of one person, and what matters is to ensure the will of the people and not deciding is faith, because there is no one guiding us and nothing is true, everything is permited (the motto of assassins).
in conclusion, the game is a complete action game, a graphic art perfection, a romantic and mysterious map to explore, a world that feels real, fun, entertaining , breathtaking and very detailed, one of the must realistic games of his generation, but with problems that tripel A quality games today don't have, its a shame that such a big company created a game with to many bugs and glichets, poor story, difficult and buggie combat system, lame parts in a massive world, a shameful loot boxes system and put a very loved franchised in a mediocre level. But still deserves a try, and the game on PC is one of the most enjoyable experiences you will ever have playing an Assassin's Creed.

What a pleasant surprise. After all the negativity about this game I expected to hate it. I went in with the mind state that it was broken and unplayable. That, I know now, is simply not true, at least with my experience with it in 2017. Had a great time with this, at least until the later sequences, where the bugs seem to increase exponentially. That, I know now, is simply not true, at least with my experience with it in 2017. Had a great time with this, at least until the later sequences, where the bugs seem to increase exponentially. Here it is...

    The GOOD:
A beautiful game with gorgeous graphics and skins. The world is simply surreal at times with visuals that blew me away. France 1790s has never looked better leading up to a world changing revolution. The Story is fun to follow, kept me jumping back session and session to see where Arno will end up at the end of all this. Patches must have fixed many of the screen tearing issues and face pop ins/outs.

    The BAD:
Horrific gaming engine. The amount of times I wanted to pull my hair out because of a malfunction with either jumping or unpredictable behavior surpasses any other game. CRITICAL moments ruined by a glitch in jumping, moving or the null of either. This for me broke the game to the point of no return at sequence 10. Over and over I died after far progression is assassinations and side objectives for support. This would be fine if we had a tolerable checkpoint system... BUT WE DO NOT. You must start all over in redundant fashion each time you are killed or glitched into oblivion. AI is also laughably idiotic.

    Overall:
I had a blast with this game the first half. Each story mission felt fleshed out and massive. Options seemed fair and the pace kept up the fun factor. I enjoyed this more than any other assassins creed game to be honest. Still haven't tried syndicate though. That's next. Do I recommend? Yes. Will i ever play this again? No. It has been good Unity, you have been enjoyable for the hours you gave me without the logical idiocy.

Unity simply does the best job (almost in every aspect) of all AC games from AC1 to Syndicate.
It doesn't have Black Flag's monotonous missions and assassinations and it doesn't feel like a remainder of dough like Syndicate does.

The map build is very good and the history happens during the French revolution. I may be making a mistake, but according to my memory, this serie has a "classic romance" about the main characters, like "Romeo and Juliet": Templary's daughter and Assassins son - A forbidden love.

The story is decent. They tried to make another Ezio, but it didn't really match up. Arno is a good character, his story is fun. It's motivated by revenge, but not as impactful as it should be. The thing that it's missing in my opinion is the connection. The characters don't feel so close to each other.

The gameplay is mixed feelings. It is VERY glitchy in all aspects. The parkour almost always has some bugs, thou when it works, it looks and feels great. Best looking free running in the franchise. I'm having too much fun just running around Paris. Combat is just a downgrade IMO. Besides the fact that it's bugged out as hell, the combat is boring. The good part is that you can have 5 weapon types and it gives you a bit of diversity. But unlike older games, you cannot pick up weapons from enemies which I loved doing.

Graphics are insane. Considering this is a 2014 game, this looks amazing. If you told me that this game came out in 2021, I would believe you. Sometimes it doesn't look that good, but most of the time it's great. Really love how Paris looks.

Content is good, as with every AC game. Some find it boring and that's fine. I like to collect all of the chests and other collectibles. Side quests are good too, some more interesting than others but overall good.

Co-op is fun. The servers are down more than they are working, but when it works, co-op is very fun. I wish they went ahead with this and expanded on it. The missions are narrated and don't feel like just "boring extra content"

The soundtrack is fine. Not the best, but it's good enough.

Like I mentioned, I like all AC games. This game was trashed for being bugged out, and that's true. But if you can look past the glitches its a good game.

A good game that was unfairly slammed on release, due to the terrible management of Ubisoft. The game itself is a breakthrough for 2014, in terms of graphics, animation and mechanics. It also has a very interesting plot and the main character. For me, this game is one of the best in the Assassin's Creed series.

Assassin's Creed: Unity marks a return to the classic Assassin's Creed formula, bidding farewell to the island-hopping and naval combat of previous titles like Black Flag and Rogue. The game's visuals are nothing short of breathtaking, holding up even against modern AAA releases.

The parkour mechanics in Unity are a double-edged blade. While they offer fluid and acrobatic movements, at times, they lean towards the theatrical side, making the protagonist, Arno, resemble more of a Spider-Man than a true stealthy assassin. Nevertheless, the parkour feels incredibly smooth and enjoyable, making it arguably the best in the series to date.

Stealth gameplay is where Unity truly shines. The game offers an impressive array of assassination options and opportunities to take down enemies discreetly, making it the pinnacle of the franchise in terms of stealth mechanics. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for combat, which falls flat and disappoints players who prefer intense and satisfying brawling.

The city of Paris is a marvel in itself, providing players with a massive playground for parkour and exploration. However, some may find the city's visuals somewhat monotonous, with an abundance of blue and gray tones. Personal preferences play a role here, but the overall design captures the essence of the time period.

Arno's story is decent but lacks the depth and charm of some of the series' most memorable protagonists. Additionally, the present-day storyline is minimal and fails to leave a lasting impression. The missed opportunity to connect Unity's narrative to that of Rogue is a letdown for fans of the franchise's overarching lore. The game ends with a disappointing and unsatisfying ending that makes the whole adventure pointless and leaves players feeling cheated.

Co-op missions are a notable addition, offering enjoyable multiplayer experiences. However, technical issues and the fact that everybody is the same character disrupts the immersion.

Since its troubled launch, Unity has received numerous patches and updates, resulting in a more stable and polished experience. While some minor bugs remain, they are no longer a significant concern for players.

Assassin's Creed: Unity offers a mix of excellence and shortcomings. It excels in providing a compelling assassin experience with its outstanding parkour and stealth mechanics, but falls short with lackluster combat, a weak present-day story, and an unsatisfying ending.

With an extensive list of 57 achievements, players have plenty of challenges to conquer. Regrettably, these achievements are not integrated into the Steam platform, but they can be tracked and earned through Ubisoft Connect. Although not even there you will not be able to share your progress, since only you can see it.

In conclusion, Assassin's Creed: Unity delivers a captivating journey through historical Paris, but its imperfections prevent it from achieving true greatness. Nevertheless, it remains a solid addition to the series, offering fans an engaging and immersive adventure in the heart of the French Revolution.

As far as the game is concerned, it introduced the concept of planning assassinations by providing various methods of ingress, egress and kill. That was definitely an improvement. I like that many of the buildings are more than just decoration and can be explored/used at will. It makes the world far more interactive.

What is disappointing is the extreme busy-ness of the map. It is the most populated by far with hats, badges, trophies, collectibles, chests, blah blah blah, of the entire series. A bit of a let-down, I feel. I did not partake in any multi-player at all. Co-op missions (those I actually played) I did solo. You game nerds take things too seriously for my taste.

The main story is engaging, tapps in interesting themes and ideas, nice action ,well used historical figures and the finale may be a bit underwhelming but still good and conclusive.
The parkour is a doble edged sword, either you like it's flashy style, or you hate it's strange move.Requires some training(and a youtube guide)for good timing to move in effective ways ,but it's rewarding. It still can suffer from minor glitches and wrong directioning,Compared to previous AC games, definitly a bit unrealistic, but it's up to each person to decide.I enjoyed it, it makes me feel very assasin roaming the building of Paris in that style.
The combat is rough, but decent. You get better armor and swords with money and you can upgrade them with creed points(points you recieve by doing cool assasin things like air assasinations, finishers, stealth kills). You atack enemies and instead of counter atack you parry dodge or superatack your enemies(parry is a kinda of counter atack but you need to press atack button 2-3 times :) ) Stealth tho is very satisfying. Eagle vision is very usefull (unlike in other AC's) and the stealth playstyle is encouraged(because the combat can be both ineefective and a bit glitchy a times). Even in mist of combat you can use smoke or other grenades, makes for an easy enemy squad wipe.
This game has a pretty rudimentary character progression, but it does it's job. As I said previously, you can buy new armor pieces and weapos and upgrade them to be even better, certain missions give you new items and sync points with which you can unlock skills and abilities. There's no grind fest required to become powerfull to continue with missions, it's natural progression if you intertwine main story missions with other activities.
And as a final note, this game is not the buggy mess which once was. I encountered 2 bugs the first 2 missions, but except that, I encountered small glitches like flying bodies or messy teleportations during parkour( it happenes very rarely, barely it affected my gameplay experience).
In conclusion, good game, one of my favorite AC's definitly, and if it got maybe some few more months of develpoment it would had been from the start a great experience.

The movement and battle at first seemed to present a very big evolution in relation to the previous ones, but that would have been well polished. The commands are not very responsive and more than once depending on your action everyone is looking at each other without anything happening for 1s or more. Just missing a loading message.
Despite new movements and being much more beautiful, the commands is not very fluid and I was frustrated many times.
But the game has many good things, such as an incredible setting, beautiful settings, a huge variety of NPCs on the streets, lots and lots of explorable buildings, catacombs among others.

The story is ok, although I miss a better work on the characters and the main quests themselves.
Although the side quests are directly linked to real figures, they do not fit into almost anything in the main story. But worst of all is that the reward for doing everything besides the collectibles is... a skin. I didn't feel at all that it was worth my time.

The DLC has the story ok too, but unlike the main campaign, the extras lead to a weapon with sensational skill.

Finally, I found the variety of weapons and armor to be welcome, but I thought that the character is ugly as hell when he puts the armor within what he needs in each status. I ended up using a skin the entire game that came in the DLC.

I thought it was a good game worth playing, especially on a promotion. But today I wouldn't waste my time with the extras in this game that aren't really worth it.

Newfound openness of Assassin’s Creed demonstrates just how inadequate its AI really is for a stealth game: pampered nobility usually simply ignores a bloodied body on the dance floor, and guards don’t care much either. At least they’ve learned how to fight: unless you “cheat” with smoke bombs, it’s highly unlikely you’ll survive a melee against a group. [Jan 2015, p.62]

As I write this, Assassin’s Creed: Unity is a bugfest, but technical problems, however annoying, can and probably will be fixed. It is not cracks in textures that it is the most worrying thing about Unity, but the cracks in game design and writing.
