Too many bug. random crash during game. failing with level design. and most of all, lack of contents.
there are many similar games like warframe or hell gate London. but this Anthem is worst. it's unfinished product with high price. ps. this game keep popup the new bug while playing. they know how this game works and selling to us? i hope EA dismiss all staffs with this project. 7 years for this?

    First and foremost-
Yes it is not perfect which all games is like that. yes it has bugs which all games has it.
Anthem is a game which will grow in the future. let us not judge this game that this is through and through. Instead of killing this game, interact with Bioware, suggest the flaws and so on and so on. Its sad that alot of people is judging this game that is bad like this

Personally, I played it solo (i just did not want to have other players "ruin" the story or get thrown near the end of a story mission) and I really enjoyed it, but the grind for XP feels overdone at least for a solo player.
What I don't understand is what was the point of making you grind out a bunch of bs for a few hours, it just felt like a massive slog. Also, I did enjoy the story but

Ok, this game has a lot of bugs and other tech problems, but it`s a new world, just a beginning of a new story and it will have their funs. I saw Destiny 1 at launch - it was much more worst, until TTK it was unplayable at all. D2 launch was terrible, reuse of old story and nothing new except grind. Warframe on launch and 1-2 years later was empty and very simple...

Great game with big ambitions! Yes, this is a game service, and it has some problems at the start! No project of this type came out complete and fully playable. From large-scale projects of this type, I can single out 3! They came out altogether zero! I am impressed with Anthem! In its current state its lucky to get a 3. While physically appealing, the game is shallow, it took me 3 hours to do everything the game had to offer, after that its the same content repeating. The game has about 3 enemy types. Ground creatures that run at you, aerial creatures/ranged creatures just static attack you and finally the humanoids who all look identical, and act awfully.

I gave this game a fair go, I thought, it can't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be, it is. Wait for a sale, Wait for a year's worth of content to be released.

I have a great PC and I crashed 4 times in about 3 hours, having to repeat the same boring intro content. So bad, What a waste of potential and talented developers who are just getting steamrolled by the money hungry higher-ups. I had to make a Metacritic account just so i could warn others.

Anthem is a great game for those who enjoy the looter shooter genre. You didn't come here to hear detailed analysis that you've already heard 100 times over. Let's get down to it.

    Pros:
-The combat is punchy and difficult. At times it can feel extremely hectic and disorienting, but pulling off those combos and last minute evades is what separates the Freelancers from the Sentinels.

-The story is actually interesting. This story is not the most deep dive into a narrative as some other bioware classics, but it is engaging and the cinematic scenes are well shot, and well animated.

-As you continue through the game (as many reviewers would know IF they actually played the game) you get to watch Fort Tarsis grow, become more populated, and hear and feel the sounds of a bustling city. It's a rewarding experience

-Each of the four available classes feels unique, and has a distinct purpose in team composition. The build diversity available allows for memorable team synergy

-FashionForge is on point. Some of THE best player character customization out there in any third person game. You don't even have to pay for color palettes.

-The flight system is just plain fun. The combat is fun. It's just fun

    Cons:
-As of the official release, there is a distinct lack of mission variety in regards to your contracts. Your quests and agent contracts, however, do help to breathe new life into the repetition of these mission types.

-Optimization is poor. If you don't have a good system, don't expect to get past the medium settings pre set

-There are still occasional audio bugs. I believe this is related to the newest nvidia driver (as it happened to me after updating) but can't confirm.

Honorable mentions and things to remember:
-Load times have been reduced by 25-30% in the full release (per angry joe himself)

-No one has reached the true end game of anthem. It simply isn't possible. While it may be true that there isn't a lot of original content at end game, no one has reached the highest possible loot tier. Don't trust people who tell you otherwise.

-Masterwork and Legendary gear is unique (many reviewers would know this well if they'd bother to get past uncommon gear score)

    In Summary:
Anthem is a blast to play solo or with friends. When you're killing trash mobs, it's a god simulator. When you're fighting legendary and elite enemies, it's a challenging and harrowing experience. The only times anything except your enemy's shield should feel like a bullet sponge is if you don't know how to play the game. This game isn't perfect, and if had launched with some additional content, and many more QOL changes regarding technical issues, I would be able to give it a higher score. I imagine in a week or two, it will easily be an 8. I'm hoping we get there, and keep on going up.

    Strong Alone, Stronger Together.

I am also shocked at the low reviews, the game has its problems, but it isn't terrible. I am going to do a quick run down.

Story = I think it is a tad bit hard to follow, but has amazing lore behind it, and in depth characters. Acting = The acting and animations are top notch, not much more to say here. Gameplay = Super fun and addicting gameplay. The compat is fun and balanced.

Gameplay = Super fun and addicting gameplay. The compat is fun and balanced. Playing alone is just that lonely, and when you get randoms that don't have microphones, it can throw you out, but if you stick to playing with your friends, the coop experience is wonderful ! and it gives you a sense of teamwork.

Where i am excited is what is to come, more content, more missions, more javalins and weapons. There is so much potential to this game, i definitly hope to see the universe expanded and what BioWare can do. I think it might not be for everyone out there, but for the fans who actually like it, they will have a following.

Its WarFrame and Diablo had a baby, destinys baby brother... Grinding, get better loot, rinse, repeat, with hopfully some amazing story content to follow up. Its not that the current content wasn't good, it can just get a tad bit boring at times, and i found myself hitting escape/skip lots.

I think the decision to keep the story portion of the game to one little town is what gets me thrown off, if they had a progressive movement on the story and it took you to different parts of the world or even multiple towns to travel between, might have been a better approach. either way ... i give it a solid 8/10

the other reviews here are way to harsh for such a polished title.

Disjointed mechanics, lack of feedback in combat (especially with guns), poor sound design, poor UI design, poor story, loading screen after loading screen, lack-lustre loot, negligible end game, atrocious story... it's just all so tiresome. BioWare had so many examples of what to do and what not to do with a looter/shooter and didn't take any of the mistakes other's have made in to account.

I'd like to be able to say that many of these fundamental design choices can be fixed with patches or time, but I'm just not sure they can be. It's clear that after almost 7 years this is all that the studio is capable of, and it's a damn shame. It could have been amazing, but it's not and I doubt it ever will be.

As in my entire computer froze and the only way to fix it was to turn off the power... I am actually scared of launching the game as it may suddenly and unexpectedly cause damage to my computer.

    But that's not all!

When i finally got it to work - i tried online... and was welcomed with an infinite loading screen (which they stated had been fixed on the day-1 patch... this is not the case) causing me to Alt-F4. When i did eventually get into a game it was a horrible laggy mess, where rubber banding occurred every few seconds - making the game literally unplayable. I live in Australia with fairly good internet, i am used to some desync but this is on a whole new level. For a game that is advertised as a multiplayer game - it has absolutely no ability to do so.

    But wait! There's more!

The store gave me access to some pre-order legion of dawn items (that i redeem in game) including a rifle and decal. However, this morning all of those items were removed from my inventory - which i can no longer access. My javelin's appearance was also reset... When i attempting to readjust my appearance in game - the game immediately crashed. I then rebooted the game and attempted this again - same result. I then repaired/ verified the games data - no change.

Anthem is advertised as a full release - as in a complete product. This game is insult to actually fully developed games.

This is without mentioning the terribly repetitive mission design which in its entirety ranges from: Defend an area, Fetch quests, Kill (x) enemy - Repeat.

I'm a fan of Bioware, i don't even mind EA - i own the vast majority of their games and do not have any particular bias... A businesses main goal is to make money however they see fit, fine. But to release a garbage product of this scale is inexcusable.

    Result:
Do not purchase this game under any circumstance (at least not at this time) it is an unfinished mess that has no place on the market and does not even approach an acceptable standard. With the collective scores from both critics and users being so low, it is very likely this game will go on sale in the near future.

I love games where I have to invest time and in turn makes me feel someone who is becoming more and more powerful. Anthem makes a good job at this and this and that is important in every game. Having the feeling of becoming someone
more powerful keeps people hooked. The feeling of becoming Iron Man and become more and more stronger is the reason I love the game. The game is grindy but I dont think that is unexpected. The game is a looters shooter and thats how
you loot, by grinding and grinding to get better loot. In conclusion, If you are thinking of playing Anthem to be amazed, and be stunned by a great experience of a single player campaign, dont buy the game becuase this is not for you.

Hate train full speed... Looks like internet doesn't have grades other than 0 and 10 these days so here is my 2 cents about it.

This game has issues (and bugs) but I am genuinely enjoying it and have a great fun. It is not a single player game. While you can do many missions solo it doesn't mean you will get the same amount of fun as with friends or just random co-op and it is co-op

It is not a single player game. While you can do many missions solo it doesn't mean you will get the same amount of fun as with friends or just random co-op and it is co-op with friends when game really shines.
Also, it has a pretty descent story for a shooter. I uninstalled Destiny 2 already and no longer plan to buy any additional content for it.

    What I really like:
    - World is AMAZING. I must admit I spent a lot of time in free play searching for secrets and sightseeing opportunities
    - Lore and atmosphere is done great. Especially if you are not skipping dialogues in order to rush the game in 10 hours (sarcasm)
    - Graphics is great and smooth assuming your rig can deliver (yes, game is hardware demanding)
    - Music and sound
    - Looting-shooting-flying-ability spamming
    - Verticality is a great thing! And contrary to popular belief you can (and should) utilize it to your advantage everywhere.
    - This is the first game when flanking and sniping actually matters. I can't play destiny 2 again.
    - No loot boxes, cosmetics can be directly bought with in-game currency, premium currency is for cosmetics only. Looks like BF2 lesson was learned by EA.
    - Free post-launch content. Quality and quantity is unknown, and here is the biggest IF for this game. 8 score is done assuming we will get something descent. 9 or maybe even 10 if we get Forsaken level of quality/quantity and 7 if it will be on Curse of Osiris level.

    I have mixed feelings about:
    - No romance. But after Andromeda and Inquisition maybe it is a good thing
    - Loading screen in Forge, not a big deal but its completely unnecessary
    - There is no item description upon pickup. Instead, rarity shows.
    - Content quantity. But there is not such thing as enough content in a good game :) What I really like like to see is how post-launch support would be done.

    What I didn't like:
    - Nothing

    Some random thoughts:
It is true that forge and few locations on the world map could be done without loading screens, but saying its everywhere and its a game breaker is way too much.

As for the tomb quest and multi-kills I am just speechless. Every javelin in the game can do multi-kill easily with their ultimate in certain locations. Reading how people struggle to achieve them is absolutely hilarious.

I personally like the story and characters. It is totally subjective but I like it way more than Inquisition which is considered to be a great game in terms of story telling. People comparing to KOTOR story probably remember how good it was at launch but forget how flat it is by modern standards (and buggy it was at launch). I completed it recently out of nostalgia and let's say I was sad about how story aged.

Repetitive... It is a co-op looter shooter, what do you expect? Again, compared to Destiny 2 (or even worse - Warframe) its way less grindy and repetitive. If you think otherwise please return to your forges and gambit, because I am done with them.

Why did EA even bothered buying Bioware if their intent was to denature the product completely?

This is a buggy, repetitive rip-off of Destiny and GoW which I played by curiosity but am not a fan of to start with. Unfortunately, there is nothing of the old Bioware left in it. Anthem is a complete let down that left me with a sour taste. Besides, on a more general note, this game

Literally nothing works in this game, it runs like garbage and every bit of gameplay gets interrupted with absurd loading times. Want to explore Freeroam? Loading Screen. Want to visit Fort Tarsis? Loading Screen. Want to explore a cave? Loading screen. Change Loot? You understand me.
Nothing really works and is buggy as hell, weapon affixes do not make any sense, every second quest you start is not working.
But its technical failures are not its biggest problems: The story is uninspired and poorly written. When its not super cringy, its boring. Its a looter shooter without loot. There are 10 unique weapon models and 4 armor skins per javelin, with two skins being locked behind a paywall. Thats it.
There is one map with only one biome - grass and ruins, so everything looks the same. I was super hyped for this game: "Looter Shooter with a bioware story, where you can fly like iron man? Awesome!" - that were my initial thoughts when the first reveal trailer was released. (Btw, that trailer alone is enough reason to hate bioware, as they were blatantly lying to their customers, since the actual game does not come close to the game they showcased there.) But when the game came out, i was so bored that i went to bed after a two hour long torture.
Everything feels like the game was started from scratch 6 months ago, not 6 years ago.

I can agree the game has some, loading issues. But the gunplay, environments textures and story are on a grand scale. It’s easy to hate EA or any multi billion dollar studio or company, we need to stop focusing on being part of the detractors and star judging games not by a company’s past misgivings but by the merits of the work they put in. If this was a game published by any other studio it would have half as many negative reviews.

The story is epic but it starts as any hero’s journey. But we have to be reminded there are only 7 types of story to be told. 7 Types of Stories: Which One Is Your Brand Telling?
Overcoming the Monster. This type of story goes back through Beowulf to David and Goliath and surely a lot further than that. ...
Rebirth. A story of renewal. ...
Quest. A mission from point A to point B. ...
Journey and Return. A story about transformation through travel and homecoming. ...
    Rags to Riches. ...
    Tragedy. ...
    Comedy.

This being said it’s extremely hard to fit a narrative to an epic world set in a sci-fi world with out falling victim to certain tropes. If you can find legitimate flaws in this game please I implore you to address them. I am not a fan boy or in anyway affiliated with any part of the gaming industry. I am a gamer with a mind of my own.

Enemy AI is terrible and just bullet sponge aimbots.

The good things are its a pretty game, but it is like putting lipstick on a pig. The core of the game is missing so many things that looter shooters require.

Anthem is a game that didn't learn anything from its predecessors. In fact it has made even sillier mistakes that games years ago have made.

Censorship on Metacritic once again, but here i am, re-posting the same comment.
This is what happens when you release a half-baked game with no content and anything fun to do.
Insane loading times, repetitive missions, boring cities.
Downgraded graphics and very mediocre gameplay makes up for an unforgettable mediocre experience.

Good core gameplay -- most abilities feel good, combos are satisfying, flying is fun. However: Gameplay hub is terrible to navigate. Gunplay feels bland.

Good core gameplay -- most abilities feel good, combos are satisfying, flying is fun. However: Gameplay hub is terrible to navigate. Gunplay feels bland. Extremely repetitive mission design. Very little gameplay objective and enemy variety. Very little weapon and gear variety. Little meaningful character progression. Gear is badly balanced and often bugged. Almost no suit customization outside of the dye system.

Soundtrack is great, world is interesting. However: Story is beyond generic, the villain gets three minutes of screentime and does generic bad guy things. Barely any interesting characters. Dialogue is a slog, often feels unnatural and over-acted. Dialogue choices are meaningless.

I can't think of much good to say. Besides visuals and flying, it really does not excel at anything, I feel. On the other side, the list of issues is long. It feels unfinished and heartless. At the time, I have no interesting in playing any further than halfway through the story -- at this point I've long seen all the enemies, all the gameplay objectives, used all weapons and gear and seen the entire map. Everything beyond that is pure repetition and chasing higher numbers. Which, ironically, you can't effectively play around, since there is no stats page.

    Disappointing.

For me, nothing really wrong with the game functionality or it's quality as an overall thing. No game is perfect, yes there have been minute graphical glitches, but I wouldn't call them major issues.
It overall worked just fine for me. My gaming specs and internet connection are within the right requirements to play the game. Just because the game may not work for you doesn't mean it's a bad game or that it doesn't work, because it has worked just fine for others.

As a word of advise always check that your platform and connections are updated and within the required specs to play.

Graphics look great with a lot of attention to detail in the environment and attention to detail with each character, with fluid and natural movements. The game play mechanics is fun and easy to navigate when playing, taking on some of the game play mechanics of MEA, which has been effective to use when engaging with fight tactic and creating strategies for attacks and combos. The story it self is inspired and engaging with a lot of mysteries in the lore that I want to unlock.

Anthem isn't some half baked product that was put out. There was effort put into making the game and the developers have been transparent about any issues that people had.

If anything Anthem deserves a 10/10. The game is more polished than MEA in regards to it's production and final product and many major issues have already been addressed and fixed.

Neither of those issues can be fixed with time. The loading is baked into the game's engine and the combat is a similar story. It could be okay without these issues, but it doesn't do a good enough job of holding your interest overall. This is all just my opinion, but I think it has an original and epic story. Also, the dialogue between the characters is better than Fallout 4. With some NPCs, I found myself laughing at their hilarious banter and interactions; and, with other NPCs, I found myself deeply invested in their heart wrenching situations.

The world is massive and there is so much to explore. Chests, resources, and other collectibles are there for the taking if you just look into that cave on the side of the cliff or in that lake by the waterfall. While you explore, you will activate World Events giving you an opportunity to score some loot and feats. EVERY EXPERIENCE in this open world is different. The chests and resources spawn in different places, and the World Events activate randomly.

The game play is... WOW. Flying around this massive world is addicting, and fighting with so much maneuverability is both challenging and fun.

The loot system reminds me of Boderlands2. Awesome.

The day 1 patch has reduced the loading times by about 50% (just a guestament). This has reaffirmed my decision to play this game. With more patches and content on the way, I look forward to what Anthem will become.

The flight portion is actually pretty fun at times. I can only imagine how cool the flight would be in first person but ultimately it's the only good part of the game. I could see the seams of the game immediately, with heavy downgrades to the hub but with worse performance than was shown in the past and characters coming off as "NPCs" in that they dont really seem to care what you say and always like whatever you do.
Combat was "ok", but gunplay felt extremely unsatisfying both in terms of the feel of firing rounds into an enemy and how little damage they do for how insanely spongy enemies are.

Come round to launch day, I was hopeful that perhaps the combat opened up more, that it would evolve in the final game and that my woes about the story and characters would be proven wrong... sadly, it was more of the same.
A rushed, cliche of a story that was somehow so boring and uninspired that I would forget details moments after being told them.
Characters constantly try to crack crappy jokes for no good reason like it's a bad sitcom, never really showing you real traits that you can attach yourself to and actually like.
Combat is the same as in the demo, just more of the same with guns doing very little damage and it gets even worse in the higher difficulties where you get literally 1shot and can barely scratch an enemy with masterwork gear.

The only good things I can take away from the game are it's movement system and deep cosmetic customization. Disappointing.

    - great music.

    cons:
    - boring story (i don't care about it personally, but i know some of you do)
    - terrible optimisation (dropping badly with i9-9700k + gtx 1080)
    - the control is just flat out bad. seriously.. anyone in the dev team tried e.g. swimming in this game?
    - the ui is abysmal. almost hard to navigate between menus... where is that ui rework they promised???
    - to track an objective's progress takes about 15-20 seconds to open the correct menu with this lazy console ui.
    - filled with huge amount of bugs. there's not a single play session in which i haven't encountered any bugs.
since the day 0 patch though, things are looking better. just stacked in the texture.. nvm.
    - end game issues, my biggest concern: what is the point of having better gear? why is there no ranking/leaderboard system? or a diablo greater rift like timed based dungeon/raid?
there is no incentive to have better gear. or the point of having good gear is that i can farm gm3 a little bit faster? it won't be enough in 2019.
    - many things (primer - detonator skills) are not even explained within the game? do i really have to get every info on reddit? please.
    - everything feels like a cheap console copy, we are treated like peasants but we are the master race. remember this.
    - loading screen simulator on an SSD.
    - gaining exp after max level for nothing… haven't you learned anything?

after the gossip that this is the last chance for BioWare to prove to EA, i'd be really concerned in Edmonton.

I'm not sure if anyone at Bioware actually plays games or learns from other developers mistakes? This is the worst AAA game ever released IMO, even worse than F076 which is saying a lot. If you want to see a review of the game that is well thought out and hits every point, watch Skill Up's on youtube.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, ever, even after a year of patches. Too many other games from developers who know how to make good games.

This game is not very good, it's not very bad too, it's just meh. It has some fun moments but they are few and far between. A lot of boring and mindless grind for the sake of grind.
Anthem would be ok game for a F2P, but for a $60 - absolutely not worth it.

The game was launched FAR from finished. with features that advertised in demos being removed. The Central Hub is dead and lifeless, character models are standing around seeming to chat but you hear dead silence. DLC isn't going to fix these issues. i give 1 point for the mobility aspect being fun but even that feels awkward when transitioning from flying to shooting etc it breaks the fast-paced feel you get when flying through combat or retreating.

This is essentially a pay to play free to play game, kinda like pubg. i found scant customization off the bat (which was promised recolors at least but NO) Warframe does all the same stuff anthem does BUT ITS FREE. This is another over managed cash grab pet project driven by EAs execs and unfortunately IS NOT EAs point of redemption at all. I am starting to think the execs are preparing for bankruptcy and have no care in the world about the state of the company or its new products because they're gonna get theirs!

The game does have some issues that need to be addressed, though It's been keeping me busy since it released and will for quite a while longer. This game is boring, unfinished, and just pure crap. It is so empty, the story, the city, the character development/face is just horrible. Really pathetic considering its coming from Bioware. Their diversity hiring is probably not helping them (just go research andromeda) Warframe is comparable to this (Not sure why ppl omg you can't) ITS A LOOT 3rd person shooter with the same grindy mechanics except that its actually FUN. What about Borderlands 2? Even the presequel and all its dlc is much better than this. Im glad I only paid $15 for this crap. I spent 80 hrs on Anthem and have maxed out all of it and built all of my javelins (beat the campaign in much less time not counting the loading time) 80 hours in Warframe even in the beginning wouldn't even get you kitted, warframe is FREE btw and has x10 the amount to do. I don't care if people say its brand new IP, the fact is its a big company, they have resources, years of experience but they release this crap? They designed this crap also for controller/console I swear, it is not intuitive at all for PC, where Warframe is. This game doesn't deserve anything higher than a 5, I'm glad to see real gamers jump in to show what Anthem really is.

I'm really sad to be honest, i wanted this game to do good but its just another lazy triple A game release.

Shame that nobody is talking about the downgrading from the E3 trailer where you could clearly see that Fort Tarsis filled with life but in reality, it's so empty and boring. Bioware made this and from them, you would expect a thrilling story that captures you and get you invested into the game but nope something went wrong with the story and it's a big buggy mess.

The only good things about the game are flight mechanics and the graphics, combat. That's it.

Emptiness seems to haunt Anthem and you can feel it from Fort Tarsis up to a small world filled with living creatures barely there. The world looks good but it's missing so much content for 60 dollars. Hate to say it but Destiney 2 had much more content at launch compared to this. Some mechanics are just poorly made that you start to really question the reality on who really made this game and how did it make onto the final game. Some mechanics are just missing like the Waypoint you can't even put a waypoint on a map for this type of game. It's just something that should already be in the game.

The loading screen sure the loading times has been shorted but the problem still remains. They should focus on removing most of the loading screens cause it's supposed to be open world but it's not. Buy Anthem and you get a loading simulator with the game. There was an early alpha and then there was the Vip demo and then Demo yet most of the bugs were reported early on and most of it should have been fixed by this stage. The Demo was supposed to show players a ting portion of the game but in reality, it only showed how poorly made this game truly is. Even the Division 2 beta had more content in it than the Anthem Demo. Right now this game is just barely worth 5 bucks in my opinion. There is so little content for the price tag they ask for it. So much is missing from the game and this game feels almost like an early access title that you pick up from steam hoping that they will update it and make it better as time goes. Shame on Bioware and shame on EA this game could have been one of the greatest game ever. Stay away from this game until they really start to add good content or just wait until it goes to sale for 5 bucks. Right now the score for this game is just a simple 0 out of 10.

The graphics, facial animations, voice acting, sound, and minute to minute gameplay (flying, dodging, shooting, using abilities, etc) is fantastic. You can customize your Javelin in a variety of ways. You can choose different materials for parts of the suit (which have different looks and take color in different ways) and you can change their look with any color imaginable (you don't have to buy colors like in Warframe). You can also equip different cosmetic armor pieces that can be bought thru the MTX store with real money (Shards) or with Coin that is earned by completing Challenges.

Although somewhat short, the story is great in my opinion, with lots of lore collectibles to flesh out the world. The great thing about the story is that it has a lot of room to grow as time goes along and updates roll out. The game is grindy, but it's a looter shooter. You'll be doing the same things over and over on harder and harder difficulty to get those Masterwork items. Masterwork items, in turn, are VERY powerful and worth the grind. As an example, I main Storm (which hovers a lot more than the other Javelins) and my first Masterwork weapon does 200% more damage when hovering. It MELTS.

The game does have some issues. There are some bugs (many of which were fixed with the first patch). However the devs have been VERY vocal about seeing & fixing things, more so than any I've seen before. Also, due to the game having dedicated servers, many bugs can be fixed on the fly without the need for a patch.

A lot of YouTuber's have crapped on the game due to the bugs in the demos and during it's first week live (when the Origin Premier and EA Access members got to play a week before everyone else) and have told their audiences not to play the game because it's garbage. Again, the game has launched with bugs. Mission can, at times, feel repetitive. I personally haven't had an issue with that because i'm always having fun but I can see where people are coming from with that complaint.

There are also reviews on YouTube that have been done by people that are a part of the EA Gamechanger's program. These are the polar opposite of the negative YouTubers and say nothing negative and insist that Anthem is game-of-the-year worthy. While I personally love the game, it has enough flaws in it's current state that people should be made aware of them.

I would encourage anyone that is interested in the game to watch gameplay on Twitch instead of YouTube reviews that are only going to show either the overwhelming bad or the over-the-top good. If you want to play it for yourself and are on PC, you can spend $15 for a month of Origin Premier and play Anthem for a month to see if you like it. If not, you're out $15. If you enjoy it, you can buy the game and carry on where you left off. I believe that if you buy it while your Origin Premier access is active, you get a 10% discount. Don't quote me on that though.

Hit me up on Twitter (@Skyhijinx) if you have any questions.

    TL;DR
I like it. YouTuber's hate it. Watch gameplay on Twitch or spend $15 (PC only) to try it for a week and decide for yourself.

Online, Multiplayer, Co-Op are all fundamental facets to this game that are completely impaired by the game itself.

Online = frequent disconnects resulting in loading screens, lost experience, lost loot and forcing a repeat of the mission you were on.

Multiplayer = the only time you are actually spending time with others is on missions or in the launch bay (serves no purpose, identical options as Fort Tarsis). While on missions, there is ZERO way to communicate with other players aside from using VOIP that hardly ever seems to work, that permits others to opt out of and have no idea of that. There is no pinging for data sharing between players, there is no marking targets, there is no chat... there is nothing to support multiplayer within the game that works consistently.

Co-Op = There is no way to from a group and coordinate anything prior to a mission within the structure of the game. If you rely on the game to match make you, then you end up with random teammates that could all be in the same Javelin as you, unable to initiate combos and they may not even have skills equipped that allow for combos in the first place. Which leads us right back to the start... why is there Co-Op is the foundation of its effectiveness is totally random and luck based on some unknown matchmaking system.

I could go on, but I feel my point was made. Anthem is a pointless game that has no place in your library. There are games out there that deliver on what Anthem was attempting to bring to the table, but those games don't suck, unlike Anthem... it sucks. This is a prime example of EA pushing a developer into an arena they do not belong. DICE or RESPAWN should have made Anthem, Bioware should have been working on a new Star Wars, Mass Effect or Dragon Age game. This crap is why people don't go looking for a Ford Motor Company Washing Machine when theirs breaks down, they go buy a Whirlpool.

For starters, this game is the first live service that a development team has created who was previously only focused on single player games; bugs, minor issues, and glitches will be present. That, however, is the nature of multiplayer, live service games, is it not? Ask Destiny or any MMO. You rarely START with a polished product. It takes months of LIVE TESTING to get things working right, sometimes longer.

It should also be noted that it is a "looter-shooter" game. Looter-shooters are NOT for everyone. They are prone, by function, to monotony, repetitiveness, and, yes, grind. If these are things that bore you, if the nature of the game play itself does not hold your interest, it will not be for you! I HATE Dark Souls - the overwhelming learning curve and stiff-feeling controls make it a horrible experience for me - but that does not mean I think it's a horrible game; on the contrary, I see where some people find it appealing. So why would someone give this game a poor rating if their biggest problem was "I hate the grind"? The answer lies in two letters: EA.

There is this culture going around the internet lately that involves hating a developer because of the crap their publisher pulls. The amount of hate that EA has garnered lately makes people put an EA labelled blanket over everything they release so that they don't have to look at the actual product and only have to see that "oh, EA made it...must be garbage". Small problems are compounded into HUGE problems to justify this hatred and suddenly these people have reason to feel sick to their stomach at the mere mention of the publisher. It doesn't matter how good they did, it only matters that the sins the publisher has committed in the past are unforgivable in the present.

Take Origin for example. The Origin Access service is subjectively one of the best deals in PC gaming - $50 per year for a really good (and ever growing) library of fun games. Games that got excellent scores on this website. Yet, because the service is one provided by a company owned by EA, the term "Origin Access" has become taboo in the gaming culture. "What? You have Origin Access? How could you? That's horrible!" You're treated like a leper for mentioning you have it. Why? Because it's cool to hate EA.

If people remembered that Anthem is a game that might not be for them, if they look past the fact that it's labeled with the two most dreaded letters in gaming, if they forgive it it's flaws for being a live service game, then maybe they could see the gold beneath all that mud. Maybe people would notice that the developer chose not to monetize anything but cosmetics and are actually listening to the complaints of the player base and TRYING TO FIX IT. Maybe people will see that the game is actually fun to play if you're "into that kinda thing". Maybe.

Or, you know...the scores could chase away future players and we could lose an actual fun game to the annuls of time. It should be noted that I actually thing this game deserves a 7 out of 10. It's fun, but not "YOU MUST PLAY THIS GAME BEFORE YOU DIE" fun, as a 10 out of 10 would suggest. But the OVERWHELMING number of crap reviews must be balanced to bring this game to it's actual deserved score...and my 10 will help in that endeavor...if only a little.

Having played Anthem since the launch on Origin Access Premier last week, these are my thoughts on how Anthem lives up to the hype and hate for those who care about my simple opinion that is.

    Economy:
Microtransactions have been a black eye on the gaming industry for a while now but BioWare seems to walk the tightrope here. Currency consists of Shards and Coins, Shards can be purchased with real-world money while coins are earned in-game. The purchase of 500 Shards, for example, translates to $4.99 in real-world cash. The most Shards a player can purchase right now appears to be 4,600 Shards for $39.99. In other games like Destiny 2, Silver goes up to $50.00 dollars and Fortnite has a $100 dollar option. Coins are earned in-game by completing contracts and missions and you seem to get a fair amount, in just under five hours I have amassed over 10,000 coins, not to say someone who is better at the game wouldn’t earn more at a quicker rate. As of right now coins and Shards can only be used on crafting materials and cosmetics so no real pay to win right now.

Loot: The loot feels boring and honestly needs to be done better, you fight and win the enemy drops a glowing triangle and that is all you see until the end of the mission. That is when you find out what exactly you got. I understand why they did this but, when the loot is so underwhelming to begin with, this waiting doesn’t help. A rare pistol looks exactly the same as a common one of the same types just a different color.

    Load Screens:
Here there is a problem with this game as loading screens can take far, far, too long and break all sense of immersion. Want to launch a mission? LOAD SCREEN, need to fix up your Javelin? LOAD SCREEN, Die? LOAD SCREEN, and you get the point. The load screens wouldn’t be such an issue, but it can take minutes for these if you are using a standard HDD and not an SSD. Hell, Angry Joe had to wait over five minutes for his mission to launch. BioWare has promised to fix this issue before the main launch of the game this Friday so we will have to see if they keep that promise.

    Environment:
The game looks amazing when you leave Fort Tarsis and enter the world. Plantlife, wildlife, and enemies are varied and look amazing. BioWare clearly put their best foot forward here as this is where the game shines.

    Enemies and AI:
The enemies of Anthem are varied however a little predictable as you have all the boxes checked. That isn’t to say they aren’t fun to do battle against and the AI makes them a challenge as more than once I found myself being flaked by the AI, which will also take cover and attempt to dodge.

    Story:
Sadly, Anthem’s story isn’t the greatest, especially when compared to BioWare’s other works like Dragon Age and Mass Effect. That isn’t to say it is bad it just isn’t very strong though it can evolve as this game does over time. I have a personal theory that Anthem takes place in the Dragon Age Universe but there is nothing official about that. If BioWare were to weave the two story arcs together I think it would be a stroke of genius but only time will tell if I am right.

    Missed Opportunities:
This game looks and plays how Mass Effect Andromeda should have but BioWare and EA would never admit. It is my opinion that Anthem took resources away from the Mass Effect franchise, Development of the game started in 2012, immediately after the release of Mass Effect 3, under the supervision of Casey Hudson, the executive producer of the original Mass Effect trilogy. So to say BioWare put Mass Effect on the back burning isn’t a big leap of faith. We all know how that turned out for Mass Effect and time will tell how it will turn out for Anthem. Part of me loves the fact that we are getting a new IP from BioWare and part of me wishes they would have stuck to the format that has worked from them this far.

    Final Thoughts:
Anthem is a fun game when it works, and combat is fast-paced and smooth. It needs polish right now and we will see if BioWare fixes load times and bugs. The story isn’t a typical BioWare one but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing but if you buy this game thinking it will be like Mass Effect you are going to be disappointed. As much as I want to recommend you go out and buy this game I would hold off until at least two major patches are live or until the loading issues are fixed. My score for this game at today is a 6/10 and if they fix the loading issues this game is easily an 8/10 and a must-own for anyone who loves third person shooters with some RPG mixed in.

Blows away expectations. I've never had more fun PLAYING a game. The gameplay is outstanding. Is there flaws? Of course. BioWare has been the quickest, most responsive developer of any modern day looter/shooter/GaaS, and I look forward to the longevity of this amazing title.

the only good thing about this game is graphics, and everything else is broken.... i feel the loading time is longer than the game play time, I am runing it on ssd and i7 4790k. pretty much no end game content, you can finish it in 1 day.

It looks like we are playing the same mission over and over again! Maybe it will get better in the future, but I've paid a full price game and it looks unfinished! Lame!

This game has enormous potential but marred by a bad release due to being unfinished, not optimized enough, and TERRIBLE problems with itemization. The whole point of a loot-based game is...the loot. Who would've thought ?

Most of the stats don't even seem to work, half the skills are broken or badly balanced, bugs with weapon functionality, the descriptions of effects are vague, and

How can you possibly release a stat-based game without a screen to show your character stats? Simply stupid. It can be fixed, but they better damn well fix it.

The graphisme are great, mechanic are good. . .

The rest? Well storie lock behind grind wall, and not so good. Character customization, lock behind a grind wall or pay. Gamplay? only repetitive quest. The universe, outworld is empty, hub is lifless.

As said by someone: The graphisme, game mechanics, and art is as wide as an ocean, but gamplay, stories and soul as deep as a pudle.

What an abysmal showing. My standards are low when it comes to triple-A games, and this doesn't meet a single one of them.

The good: -The environments and character models look good (no, seriously, that's the only positive) The bad: -They somehow made flying and shooting guns/grenades/rockets/lightning boring and frustrating -I have Anthem on an M2 NVME hard-drive and the loading

(no, seriously, that's the only positive)

    The bad:
-They somehow made flying and shooting guns/grenades/rockets/lightning boring and frustrating
-I have Anthem on an M2 NVME hard-drive and the loading screens still average 2-3 minutes
-Said loading screens are absolutely everywhere
-Seriously, it's unacceptable to have a loading screen going into and coming out of your equipment screen
-The mission hub is lifeless, and characters are all 1-dimensional stereotypes
-You have 0 input on the story
    -3 different types of missions
-Enemies appear out of nowhere, and often disappear right in front of you
-Even itemization is lacking; You get maybe 2-3 variations on each gadget or extra weapon, with only about 7-8 variations on main weapons, and beyond that they're just rarity and level tiered
-The environments are utterly unvaried; they consist of valley and cave, and nothing more

I really wanted to like this game to justify my Origin Premier subscription, but each new day I though about playing became worse. I would think "I should give it a chance. Maybe it gets to be fun." Even while trying hard to force myself to play, I just couldn't. It's a barely functional disaster, devoid of enjoyment and rife with frustration. It's a complete waste of time. The fact that this little content took 6 years to produce is beyond shameful.

The game gets boring really fast.

The enemies are sponge bullet. They stay quiet, waiting to be slowly murdered. The health bar goes down, slooowly util they die, and the other enemies stay quiet, waiting for their turn to be murdered. All the missions are the same. it is a cheap, generic shooter sold as AAA. Anthem has everything wrong with it that modern gaming, games as a service and looter shooters could possibly have wrong with it. unfinished and buggy, not fit for release yet. full price is supposed to be for full games that work at launch. the game overall is boring, gunplay sucks, copies all of the bad looter shooters, the map all looks the same, loading screens up the rear, repetitive,Anthem has everything wrong with it that modern gaming, games as a service and looter shooters could possibly have wrong with it. unfinished and buggy, not fit for release yet. full price is supposed to be for full games that work at launch. the game overall is boring, gunplay sucks, copies all of the bad looter shooters, the map all looks the same, loading screens up the rear, repetitive, snore level story, loot sucks, monetization sucks. Not even worth wasting the time to repeat what all critical reivews have already pointed out. This is so lazy as to question why Bioware exists any longer.

After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
