While yes it seems a little bit incomplete, and seems rushed on some features, I had a good time. Happy to see good faces (contrary to Andromeda) at the end having fun with is what gaming is supposed to be all about.

An absolutely shallow mess that somehow left the studio. I got it through Premier, so those 15€ hurt a little less, especially because I got to play Darksiders 3, but I can't imagine the disappointment of someone who got it for 60€ or more. I got it through Premier, so those 15€ hurt a little less, especially because I got to play Darksiders 3, but I can't imagine the disappointment of someone who got it for 60€ or more. From being disconnected every minute while in the hub, being disconnected at the reward screen and losing all the loot, being disconnected in the hub without even making it to the Javelin after Day 1 patch, to not being able to launch the game AT ALL after the second patch. Origin counter says I've played the game for 20 hours, at least 10 of those were looking at loading screens, the gameplay itself is as basic as it gets and you've seen everything after you finish the first mission. The mission variety doesn't exist, the same as the enemy variety. Combat consists of shooting your gun while waiting for cooldowns. The movement itself feels nice and fluid, but after witnessing all of the garbled mess the game is, the only thing moving were my bowels.
The most common in favor arguments seems to be that we should wait for updates and give it a chance; I'm on a subscription here, I already paid 15€ to not be able to play it, and from what I've heard they're planning to release new content IN ACTS, meaning you're withholding new content from a game THAT HAS NONE already in order to artificially prolong the subscription module. People are also comparing this to Warframe, and if we hammered down on Warframe at it's initial state it would never have gotten where it is. I've played Warframe from closed beta, besides it was FREE the whole time, and I can confidently say that Warframe had more to do in its 4th month of development, compared to this apparently being in development for 6+ years.
All in all, I think people would give this game less sh*t if they just pulled it off the market and came back in a year with everything in it included that was supposed to be there in the first place.

I don't doubt they played the beta, but they didn't play the actual game on release and make reference to issues that are not in the final release of the game. Such is our day in age, everyone jumps on the bandwagon to rip something apart regardless of the actual quality of the game. There are issues in Anthem, but the game is not worthy of 2 or 4.

Graphics: The game looks fantastic, I have it on PC via the EA subscription I have along with I picked up Anthem for my PS4 to play with my friends. PC looks a bit better and IMO plays a bit better, but the PS4 version looks pretty damn good as well. Faces of people look nice, the motion capture looks quite realistic but there are some issues with eyes, nowhere near the last Mass Effect but still not 100% right.

Sound: The sound is fantastic, lightning bolts sound incredible especially if you have a nice surround sound system. There are some issues with music though, on PS4 I noticed there was music in town and it fit quite well, but weirdly on PC I have no music in town, so the town ends up feeling really strange and empty. Another area that seems strange to me is the after mission summary, something about the sound there just doesn't seem right and needs some work. Outside of that the rest of the music and sound is great, same goes with the voice acting, voices are done well by a competent team.

Gameplay: This is the area where the game shines, flying around in your javelin is incredible. There are times where the gameplay is so damn good you are stunned no one else thought of this system before. You will fly to a mission, drop in with an air attack, you slam into an enemy on the ground, whip out your gun and start mowing down enemies all around you. As they turn back to open fire on you, your shield becomes nearly exhausted, you take off and fly to a position where you are relatively safe to catch your breath. All while dropping bombs, elemental attacks, super abilities and heavenly judgement upon your enemies in glorious fashion. It is damn good! The flying is the best I have seen in any game I have ever played in my 30+ years of gaming. This is truly where the game shines and what makes you keep going back for more!!

Game Quality: The game has some bugs left within it, while most of the bugs have been ironed out, a few still remain. This isn't a Bethesda game, aka a buggy mess, but it does need a little bit of work here and there fixing everything, no more then most well vetted out releases though. I experienced 1 loading freeze while in a mission out of the dozens of missions I have thus far completed. Since the last two patches, the bugs are down to next to never happening and that was done just in time for launch.

Story: The story I have seen thus far is actually good, I am about 30 hours into the game and what I have seen has intrigued me making me want to play more. The stories you do as side quests are also interesting, they are right in line with you being a free lancer. You are hired to go do odd jobs to help people, find this or that, in a dangerous world. As the story ramps up with the plot twists, I think it has been done quite well, although the story could have kicked in a bit earlier to hook people into the game.

Missions: Here is where I think the game needs some polish and why I would rate the game a 7.0. While I enjoy playing missions, they are kind of like destiny, short and a bit repetitive. There is a mission fairly early in the game where you have to open these tombs, this quest is really out of place and should be redone IMO. You are playing missions, get quest, go out, kill stuff, mission over and suddenly suddenly your next mission requires you to go into free play. You find one of the tombs you need to find, you go to open it and you are not worthy.. becuse you didn't complete a list of random tasks you were never told about. i.e. kill x enemies with head shots, kill x enemies with fist punch, complete x world missions, etc. You essentially hit a wall and need to go grind in a game that grinding previously was not needed. Once you complete this mission, it is back to the regular game/story with no grind needed.. its weird. That quest-line should really be tweaked, I don't see any issues with challenging people to do stuff like that, but that seems more like a weekly quest vs. a quest that is necessary to continue on with the game. Like destiny, you are going to be running out, doing a mission that will take you less than 10 minutes coming back to down, repeating that process. I wish Bioware had put a lot more time into the quests to make them unique instead of a lot of rinse and repeat style quests.

Bottom Line: The game is good, if they continue adding content/stuff to do this will easily stand the test of time. I would recommend it, even at the $60 price tag.

It has potential and can be entertaining during the first couple of hours, but you realize of its problems since the beginning: buggy, more loading screens than gameplay, laughable IA, microtransactions, lack of content and variety, disappointing story by Bioware's standards, the most unimaginative grind wall to progress in the "plot",.. and more importantly Mass effect died for this.

I have been playing the game not stop since the release on origin access (which is actually the official launch date releasing one week later on the 23rd was just another way for EA to try and incentivise consumers into spending more but I digress)

The gameplay: 8/10 by far the best aspect of the game if you ever wondered what it would be like to play as Iron Man Anthem is for you.

Flying is awesome and the mechanics work very well. Shooting is ok but there was a definite improvement from the demo. However, once you faced the first few batches of enemies it will feel like you have already finished the game due to the huge amount of repetition

Story: 1/10 Bioware is known for its compelling storylines games like Mass Effect 2/3 are today still fan favourites but if you looking for a similar experience in Anthem you ain't getting any. The protagonist comes off as an arrogant fool, side characters are awfully generic and your choices don't really influence the end game. Fort Tartis is also very bland especially if you compare it to the E3 a presentation, it feels like you are inside a cemetery every time you load into the game which in turn forces you to rush to Javelin to fly away into the beyond,

    Other aspects:
The game is very buggy even after the "day one" patch. I can't tell you how many times I found myself in the infinite loading screens(despite placing Anthem's folder in my SSD hard drive), texture glitches happen often but the framerate is the worse so much so it makes me want to puke I have a high-end pc but frames drop quicker than Usain Bolt in a speed test.
The implementation of Micro-transactions makes the game a distasteful(despite earning a decent amount of coins during your first playthrough after finishing the game earn rate drops significantly making cosmetic purchases harder through gameplay )

Overall: Anthem is a decent game with HUGE amounts of potential if Bioware can polish it off in the coming months but at this stage, I don't recommend it to anyone.

Sadly after few hours you will discover, that this is just another android game where you click 1000x times and pay 500 gold to have some fun.
    - Every mission feels exactly the same as other.
    - Weapon play is really 0/10 ... it feels completely wrong. Reload time longer than shooting time? Really?
    - Graphics are terrible, but this is to be expected because of the console market, where this game primary aims.
    - Loading screens everywhere ... just ... everywhere ... and they are so **** long
    - Game cannot be played in solo, so you are forced to play online with **** who afks through the whole mission.

But i had quite a blast playing this for a few hours. Counting that i have paid only for a origin premier for one month and comparing this to a cinema ticket ... its a solid 4/10 game for a 15 dolar price tag.

I found the story to have enough depth to get me at invested into the success of my allies and have loved playing this with my friend. I don't understand how this game is even being compared to Fallout 76, the number of quality differences is astounding. This game runs well, looks great, sounds great, has great gunplay, enemies don't just run at you or get stuck behind cars, you can very easily swap between character builds, exploration is rewarded with loot, gear upgrades are regular (at least so far, I'm 30hrs in), etc. It's an online game, so of course it's going to need an internet connection. It's not some single player game that they're artificially imposing an always on connection to. Granted, there is an annoying bug where I'll lose my audio, but this is something that can be fixed, unlike the fundamentally flawed creation engine that tarnished Fallout 76's opportunity.
DLC is free/non an additional purchase, and there are no gameplay affecting micro transactions (cosmetic only). As someone who's game library is over 400 games, it's been a while since I've had this much fun this easily playing a game, and I quite honestly believe the people trashing on it don't know what they're talking about and lack a point of reference for what a bad game truly is.

What does it come down to? You won't know if you like the game, until you play the game.

This game is utterly boring, and it pains me to say that damn, it just sucks too much to give a good rating to this trash heap. EA as usually killing studios has BioWare in their Crosshairs and therefore now they have released the **** game they could. I always knew the hype was too good to be true. I guess the saying has some wisdom to it. Unfinished, Unpolished, Shallow, Buggy Garbage.

With Anthem? I get neither of those feelings. I don't feel the urge to go an finish the game, and when I start it

This has the potential to be a good game, but probably in a year of content and patches. but for me, i think to drop $60 on a game with promise of future content isn't really a complete game. i would pay for a car and wait to get doors next month. so i wouldn't do it a game either. potential yes, i hope it does get good. but i would save the money now and buy it later when its on sale.

The Witcher series had beautiful, sexy & charismatic women (Triss, Yennefer, Ciri) in addition to normal, plain & average looking women.

[character art] - Anthem has the ugliest women NPC's I've ever seen in a game. There isn't even one sexy woman in the entire game. The character art direction is so bad that it completely destroyed any fantastical escapism. The NPC's look like people I'd see at Walmart and Walmart is the last thing I want to be thinking of when playing an escapist video game.

[story] - The story is very mediocre and is brought down by the casual idle conversations you have with the random NPC's. Those casual convos don't have any impact on the story, it's just "hey, how you doing buddy? You good? I'm good, cool, cya." After a while you begin to dread talking to the NPC's because the conversation goes no where most of the time. In other Bioware games every conversation tend to contribute to something meaningful, but in Anthem it doesn't.

Your character is extremely emotional, cranky and complains all the time. He acts like an emotional soy boy constantly and it's VERY annoying. You can't play as a bad ass and instead you're constantly kissing everyone's butt, I hate it. I hate Tarsis and want to see it burn to the ground. I WISH I COULD SIDE WITH THE DOMINION. I bet all the hot women have sided with the Dominion and Tarsis is just filled with rejects & social outcasts.

[gameplay] The combat is fun. The best part of the game is being outside of Tarsis. I hate Tarsis so much. The characters look so god damn ugly I just dread going there. Okay, combat. Combat is fun, but it has the potential to get repetitive very quickly. After about two weeks I'll be bored of this game. So if $60.00 is worth two weeks of play time, go for it, but I'd wait until the game is $5.00 like Battlefront II.

[microtransactions] - I never buy stuff through micro transactions.

[graphics] - The frostbite engine is nothing short of amazing. The graphics are outstanding.

[environmental art & armor art] - The art direction for the environment's are beautiful & captivating. The javelins & weapons have beautiful art.

[tarsis bar] - The city of Tarsis has a bar. The bar is filled with the ugliest women i've ever seen and there's no good bar music. In every Bioware game the night club and bars always had good music, but this is the worst bar I've ever seen in the history of Bioware games.

[brothel] - THE GAME HAS NO BROTHEL, WTF?! There should be a brothel with tons of hot & sexy tarsis babes showing off the frostbite engines physics. Physics you ask? YES, BREAST & BUTT PHYSICS.

As a shooter-looper game I actually don't mind the grinding part that most complaint. For me it's something that give me some drive to keep playing, so I am always making some progress when I want to have some few hours of fun. But even with this mindset, this game is purely gold on how a lazy developer could do. For whatever stupid lame story reason, you have to go here defend that, collect this. Every freaking single time with zero variation. And to "prove your worthiness" you need to do something that other normal game would only ask you to do as achievement instead of actual gameplay. What's worse? if you are in a team, only 1 guy who make the kill shot or picking up are counted. So basically its asking you to play solo.

it's just boring as hell. The gunplay is so weak that i feel like it's weaker than the division 1, it's basically just all about your ability, which I really hate it being so supernatural and witch like effect instead of being a true "mech". The flying part is so mediocre and slow that it's ruin the whole experience to me.

If you want some fun shooter looter, go to warframe. If you want to spend some money, find some charity organization or buy some cosmetic for warframe. That game is a free to pay that's done right.
If you want to save Bioware/Mass Effect, no it's done for. Only thing you could do is don't buy anything from EA again and hope it's gone so it won't keep ruining and then closing the game studio.

Also they had 2 gpu drive updates from geforce to help with performance. Getting into the core gameplay its amazing the flying taking off hovering turning around and just lighting up a mob with your guns or powers is amazing then just taking off or coming down in a ground pound.

The biggest problem is randos dont play as a team and the tethering system needs to be taken out during missions tbh. The mobs are fine id like to see a few more versions of base mobs, roaming mobs would be nice to add as well. Put in some ambush during free play and missions would be nice. not showing the teleport gate. But just having the mobs jump you.the npc are fine they could easily add more talking options with them. They need to make your chat options change the outcome of the convo. The prices are right for the cosmetic opens I love to grind so getting coin is np for me :) Im loving the game so far some of its short comings are not as bad as some are flaming about. Game in general looks nice and shooting is nice. Flying would be nice if not loading screens and quick overheat that forces you to the ground in some areas.
Combat is nice at first but after couple of hours where you fight the same enemies over and over again it just becomes tedious and boring. Loot is lame and not interesting.

Menus, menus everywhere, button clicks and button holds to the point that it's just retarded.
Developer's laziness on this field is beyond me and I really wish they would stop forcing console like menus on to PC. Stop, it!

Basically, wait for a year. The game might be in a better state than it is right now and you will probably pay way less.

EA's and Biowares Anthem are non of those. You could always discuss "fun" but the pillars of this game are visual effects, customization and monetization. Is it the new standard to launch broken unfinished games? Is it okay to false advertise and overhype shallow products like these?
I feel no passion, no creativity and no love for the gamer with this release.
It is a looter shooter with non interesting loot in a very forgettable planet with repetitive missions and activities, shooting different races that feel no different at all, with terrible AI controlled enemies that are bullet sponge type bosses. Anthem had 7 years of work and Bioware had the opportunity to look at games like borderlands, destiny, division, mass effect, etc to make this game better and at least working.
I think in the end it's a nice looking game where the focus is put exactly on that alone. A very poor product in technical and creative sense.

It takes a slight investment of 5-10 hours to understand the different game modes, do some freeplay, do some quests, get some gear, learn how to fly, learn how to combo, etc. A lot of weapon types and abilities are just not available to you until the gear drops via RNG. If you hate the class you picked you can also make a new pilot and choose a different javelin.

The only biome that doesn't exist in Anthem is Tundra and Desert. As for lack of biodiversity, I honestly don't know what people are talking about. There are tons of interesting enemies with interesting and unique combat abilities and tactics that require you to read and react appropriately to succeed in combat. Killing stuff is fun.

The worst part of the story is the opening tutorial. They throw a lot of high concept stuff at you that just seemed over the top to me. But once I took on some more quests and realized the story really is about the people in this world, I relaxed and enjoyed it. I came to love the characters and their voice work (and their animation, which is extremely well done). Some of the little side characters are quite hilarious. There are interesting scripted conversationis you can eavesdrop on as well. They are just tiny little nuggets, but there are a lot of tiny little nuggets in this game that speak to the love and sweat that was poured into this game.

I am a huge Bioware fan but did not have high hopes for this game because of EA's involvement. From what I hear they were pretty hands off, and I think it shows.

Bioware made a great game with Anthem, I hope more people give it a chance.

As a side not, unfortunately this game is marred by controversy because of its affiliation with EA and I am certain if they did not publish the game the critics wouldn't be so hard on a game that clearly does more right than wrong. Disappointed in gamers for this one.

I have a high end PC, the game is running at 1440p ultra settings, its pretty much stable, its running above 60fps almost all the time and I don't have major problems. Loadings are a real issue here, I installed the game on a SSD raid 0 setup, so it's not taking too long, but it takes a little to load all the necessary data, but I would say that is not the loading time that ruins the experience, is the amount of loading the game has, that is the real problem.

Frankly I haven't played a lot of it to make a concrete statement about the story, but of what I've seen till now it seems interesting, Im trying to play it paying attention to the plot and reading all the lore, so I think it is a rich world and you can see that they created that world with love and commitment.

This kind of game tend to be a little repetitive, I mean, look at Diablo, it is a dungeon crawler and it is pretty repetitive sometimes. To be stronger you have to grind and look for good loot, that is what Diablo and Anthem is about, so they are repetitive that is inevitable.

I just want them to keep pushing and improve the game as much as possible, add new content and so on. Dont be promiscuous when it comes to microtransactions, EA is greedy and its a real and constant risk to this game, but we have to understand that to work as a live service it needs funds to continue to improve and polish more and more, even be heavely upgraded in the future. Today the economy seems reasonable, but EA could screw everything in a blink of an eye.

For what I've mentioned until now I think 80 is a fair score. The game has a lot of potential and its beautiful, even after the downgrade. The small problems become really small compared with the good gameplay, gorgeous world and rich lore Anthem has.

Game is pretty garbage tbh, there is 0 depth to this game, its all surface level. The only reason i give this game a 1 is because it looks good! otherwise what is the point to spend 30 hours to reach the "end game" which features absolutely nothing! typical of EA to put out another garbage game. starting to see a trend here, EA just breeds trash.

Gameplay is really good and sexy but there is so many things wrong.
    Currently game lacks end game.
Overall UI is very confusing and stupid.
Biggest pain is poor technical performance, constantly lagging / rollbacking 3 secs back... Loading into Launch bay (1 room) takes longer than into Fort Tarsis...

The story is an okay shell of a story, but it is by far not BioWare's best effort. I believe had this game come from anyone else the story wouldn't be tanking the reviews as hard as it is. Overall the game makes a lot of missteps but is on the whole one of the better playing experiences I've had in some time.

I think it's main point of failure is EA forcing the use of it's frostbyte

Overall the game makes a lot of missteps but is on the whole one of the better playing experiences I've had in some time.

I think it's main point of failure is EA forcing the use of it's frostbyte engine that is not made for this kind of thing. With a better engine and writing the game could be one of the best of the year, but instead it falls a bit flat.
Sound, world building, and gameplay however are top tier, and very enjoyable. The world to a decent degree makes sense, and with the recent event the open areas of nothing made more sense as they are more stages for boss fights than for general use, yet it needed another year in the oven to get the bugs worked out. If EA doesn't pull an EA and actually supports anthem it could become something good, but that is a big IF with EA's track record.

Story and the engine are where this game fails, and that is due to the fact that the game feels like it should have been more to it instead of the paint by numbers meh we got. I would love to know if EA called for a rewrite at some point to make the game something else, instead of what it was supposed to be.

The main reason I say this is the E3 trailers world was different, and the play style in regard to the world seemed different than what was delivered. Suggesting there was a rather large change at a some point. A change that impacted a lot of things, this feels like destiny all over again, where we see one idea of the game, then there is a massive change and no one lets us know about it.

Having beaten the main story, played through it all I can say some design choices were well intentioned but stupid. The tombs were designed to push people into other things then freeplay to get them to help other players through quickplay, the same as the path of valor is setup to do. The issue I see with this is that it leads to burnout rather quickly as you end up doing stuff you have done over and over again. Which brings us back to time, the game is solid, but it needed more time in development to release with more content.

This is the curse of we can patch it, developers and publishers need to stop having this mindset. Release a full title, then patch it, stop releasing half a game or less and saying we will patch it later. Anthem as it is now feels like act 1 of a 3 act game. It needs the other two acts, as it is the devs come off as liars as my fort and my friends are near identical, I have seen and felt no impact at all of my choices in the fort. Thus the game feels half baked in the story aspect of its world.

This is what happens when you make a game for your shareholders, rather than gamers. The quality and care is nonexistant in this title. We got some hints that Bioware was going downhill after the disaster known as Mass Effect: Andromeda. This game solidifies that. Mark my words: their next game will be trash too: their next Dragon Age game.

J'ai parlé à tout ceux à qui je pouvais parler et ... on ne me propose plus aucune mission.
Donc si c'est ça le jeux ... ça n'a aucun interret.

Animations seem smooth enough have a very floaty feel like everything is actually sliding. The flight mechanics while simple and enjoyable leave little in the light of creating complexity for more experienced players. Probably the biggest problem I've had with the game is its way to simple. Bioware is famous for simplicity mixed with complexity like in their previous Dragon Age games. However any chance at complexity in the game is tossed aside for single button gameplay. A lack of content also creates a boring repetitive nature that shows its cracks as early as the first mission.
Overall Anthem feels uninsipired and lazy which is probably how Bioware was given they delayed the game 3 times. 1/10

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
