I have sunk almost 100 hours into this game and all I can say is its average at best. There's almost no content at endgame. And the game play becomes boring at around 50 hours in.

The game has good visuals and some good mechanics. I love Flying through the map in missions. But, the story is bland and boring. Everything turns out repetitive. I experience a few FPS drops and many bugs. I have 6hs played in the game. I do not recommend it, Destiny 2 it´s better than this piece of ****

This is a clear case of "haters." I am sure that many of the critics have not even played the game.
Currently the game does not deserve a 10, it is a 7-8 game sincerely.
There are some technical errors, but I have not suffered any. I would rate as positive: -The gameplay is very very good. When you are flying or fighting is very frenzied while the game is very smooth. Gameplay of 10.

    - The possibilities of configuration are very varied which allows you to change the way you play in each game with the same javelin.

As a negative I can say:

-The story is very bad, predictable and childish. The characters have no charisma.

I think in a few months we will be facing a game that will mark a before and after.
It's a pity they did not wait to get it out when fully developed. When it came out it could have been a very developed beta. Right now the game sinks content endgame in addition to failures in the loot system that would have been solved if they had tested it before.

The most positive thing is that EA is listening attentively to the community and they are adding big patches every so often.
It is a very ambitious project to abandon it so I am sure that in a short time we will be facing a huge game.

If you're coming in to Anthem for a fully complete, comprehensive story, then you'll be disappointed. There are threads of a story here, and it's very much like the first episode or two of a television series. You get just enough to make you curious, but not enough to satisfy.

If you're coming into Anthem for a third-person shooter with some pretty decent mechanics, then you'll have fun. In this case it's like Destiny, where you could blast through the story, then not have much to do until the next set of content came out. You would still run through the EDZ, or the old Cosmodrome, gathering materials to make yourself stronger. End game Anthem is much the same way.

To call Anthem a multiplayer game is I think a bit misleading, but certainly not false. I really have a feeling that Anthem was aimed at people who enjoy single player open worlds. I'm definitely one of those people. I have a couple of friends on my various gaming app lists, but none of my friends on Origin bought Anthem yet. So I've been matchmaking my story missions and actually kinda enjoying that the pixar quality cut scenes are forced, and that I don't have a friend on the line talking my ear off while it plays out. If I had a friend complaining about "cut scenes in general"(or whatever) in my ear while the story was playing out, I think it would be taking away from the experience quite a bit. Don't get me wrong I love my friends, but I really love my journeys to Bioware's glorious narratives as well. I hope to get some Anthem playing friends along the way to the end game, because I think it would be a fun multiplayer game at that point. I've got about 19 hours in and I just hit level 14(WOOOO!), no rushing here as I stated earlier. Picked the Storm first but I'm now in love with my Interceptor. To put myself in context just let me tell you that I finished all of the main content in ME Andromeda, I think that makes me a Bioware fanboy. However, I'll admit it was drab in storytelling and I skipped the epilogue because the characters had not developed the identities that previous ME games have. It's hard not to give the game a 10 with all the hate, but if I could give it a higher rating I would. I've really enjoyed every moment, and I can't wait to get back to it. I own somewhere around 350 pc games and I know a jewel when I see it. It's not a rush to level 30, there is a great somewhat interactive movie in there. Enjoy it! Expand

I will never play their games again for saying that, because it just means they want to only focus on how to maintain a cash flow post-release and continue to nickle and dime customers. The missions are very short and extremely boring. There is no endgame content and no reason to keep playing after you complete the campaign. Everything is slow and plodding, from the layers and layers of menu's that operate so slowly, to walking around in the pointless lifeless city, to the dozens of long and horribly boring conversations that are completely pointless and meaningless, to the actual gameplay itself. I only gave it a 3 because the gunplay and spellcasting is fun and the sounds are great, but not really though when the framerate keeps tanking constantly to 30fps or lower. Expand

I think that the game has been bashed way more than it deserves. Its like all the media outlets are looking for faults. Then again, BioWare did not make the best decision, releasing a half baked demo that did not resemble the final product.

The game has a great tempo when you are playing (PC). I feel like a super hero, jumping around and going all crazy with my laser sword and guns.

The graphics are amazing. I only encountered some small bugs (the most prominent was when one character was no where to see when you had a dialog with said character).

I wish that the gear system would be more fun. Its nice how it is now, you can add and swop loads of stuff, but it really feels like they dont make a great impact (lvl 22 atm). In other games, i can sit for ages and go over gear to find the best setup. I hope this feature gets more engaging later on.

Together with Metro Exodus the release of the anthem trailer back in 2017 E3 was the reason I decided to get a PC and have been waiting for this title to release for three years. Why I start the review saying this is because I think that the bad impression me and many others have about this game is not only because of how bad the game actually is but also because of how good it looked in those trailers back then. When I saw that scene where the character gets in the suite and jumps down the cliff and start flying through the beautiful map made me think that I was in front of one of the best single payer campaigns of all time because I imagined myself flying through the map freely discovering caves and new lands with npcs that give you missions. This game lacks everything that’s was going to make it good in the beginning, it is boring to the point that maybe you will get tired in less then a day of play, you will be doing the same stuff over and over again through the whole game in very similar places. Even if you like arcade kind of games Anthem will be too much for you and being so arcade is another reason for the game being the less immersive of 2019. While playing anthem you will not care at all about who your character is or where he/she is going because the story is weak and so superficial that you wont care. Loading screens are an absolute nightmare, I tried the game (full release, non beta) in a M2 drive and loading screens were atrocious not because loading screens take too long (some do) but because they are everywhere breaking again the whole immersion of the game. It is a game that forces multiplayer when it shouldn’t and requires a constant connection to the internet.
There is a chance that you get exalted in the beginning while you are learning the mechanics and you fly for the first time (flying its cool) and maybe you will get excited but don’t worry because the game will take care of that excitement just give it 30 minutes more and you will see.

Anthem is a looter-shooter made by Bioware. Coming on the heels of other major successful franchises, like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, there were enormous expectations laid on this all-new IP.

In Anthem, you play as The Freelancer, a man (or woman) who is suited up in a powerful javelin exosuit – basically a suit of power armor similar to what Iron Man wears. You can fly, you can hover, and you can unleash powerful abilities like rocket launchers or lightning blasts.

This is a really cool power fantasy, and the game actually delivers quite well on the core experience – you zoom around through the sky in a very satisfying manner, you land with a satisfying clunk, you blow up enemies with powerful explosions or lay into them with potent weapons. This is all pretty good, and the game as a whole is very pretty (even if the environments are limited to three or four major types).

The game has four main suit types – the generic middle-of-the-road Ranger, the pseudo-mage Storm, the agile Interceptor, and the huge stomping colossus. Each of them has a different ability set and plays differently – the Storm hovers around the battlefield, while the Interceptor dodges very rapidly and the Colossus stomps around and uses a shield instead of dodging. All of them feel pretty satisfying to play, and they all have their own distinctive abilities and playstyle.

The core of the plot starts out reasonably – you are one of only two survivors of an expedition into The Heart of Rage, a Cataclysm caused by an out-of-control artifact left behind by the Shapers, a race of neglectful precursors who tried (and failed) to harness the Anthem of creation and all left (or died) long ago, leaving their artifacts behind to periodically explode. It is up to the Freelancers to stop this, but after the Heart of Rage, they’re scattered and dispirited.

You, as The Freelancer, try to rebuild the reputation of the Freelancers while protecting Fort Tarsis, a walled town near the still-raging cataclysm. You get missions around town from the various major factions – the remaining Freelancers, the Arcanists (scientists who study shaper relics), the Sentinels (basically the police/army), and Corvus (a spy agency that works for your government), trying to make things better. Most of the plot of the game is consumed with trying to get back into the Heart of Rage to silence the relic that is causing the disaster, but there are a number of side missions with the various side factions which help them to accomplish their own goals – finding various artifacts and scrolls, hunting down outlaws who are ambushing people, saving people who had gone missing due to mishaps with the artifacts.

None of this is particularly remarkable – the main plot is merely serviceable, and also feels like some parts of it were cut out due to time constraints (or excessive numbers of bugs), and the side quests are of similar quality (though more coherent, if slightly lower budget in terms of cutscenes). While the actual plot is unremarkable, the various characters you deal with around town are interesting enough, and have solid voice acting and are reasonably fun to talk to, even if a few of them regurgitate their life stories out onto your boots at the slightest provocation.

All in all, the core of this game is reasonably competent – the gameplay is fun, and the plot is mediocre but with some reasonable character moments. There’s some enemy variety, from your standard dudes with guns to enemies in the various types of exosuits you use to gigantic titans which send out waves of fire at you, but it runs kind of thin by the end, and there’s only about six types of boss in the entire game, plus a couple other elite enemy types to mix things up.

But at the same time, it is a game that is really hard to recommend, because I’m really not sure whether the people who made it ultimately had a cohesive vision for how it should be, and how to keep players engaged. The game ultimately runs out of things to show you before it runs out of gameplay, and while at its present length (about 30 hours of content) it is reasonable, it still felt a bit lacking in variety by the end. Once you get to the end, you run out of content entirely, and there’s little value in sticking around – and yet, this is somehow a Games as a Service game, which intends to dribble and drabble out content over the course of months.

And the game is quite buggy; while the patches have made it better, it still has some real issues.

All in all, I liked Anthem, as did a number of its players. I definitely had fun playing it, even if it was frustrating at times. But if bugs bother you, this game will absolutely enrage you, and the game is only "good enough", not exceptional.

Since I believe this whole criticism process is **** cause all what I see are opinions of some average gamers from different media outlets, these opinions are no different than anyone else's opinion in the community, on the contrary, you can find some gamers criticize games in a way that is far more better than what these outlets can do. Until now non of them have a solid criteria base for games they review, and it not even close to what pro-criticism is supposed to be, they just play the game and finish it then write an opinion, which has absolutely no value at all.

I want to give this game a higher review. It is the most fun I've had in a looter shooter than I can remember. Playing the Storm is literally what it would be like to have Gandalf in an Iron Man suit.

However, this game is so bugged out and has a long way to go. It's unfinished and needed at least another month to work the kinks out. It will get better over time, but this release was atrocious.

Even before it launched, people were preparing to dump on it. If you don't like Shooter Looters or Games as a Service models then why did you buy Anthem. It was well communicated as that before launch.

I've played Destiny (not the sequel) and the Division and honestly Anthem is what I wanted them to be. There's a lot of world building, your character is fully voiced (with options to choose from) and the game play is great with a lot of options for combat and customization. Additionally, the world you play in is large and well developed and they weren't lying when they emphasized verticality. It really adds to the game play and even just getting from point A to B is fun.

I'm actually not the biggest fan of Shooter Looters, one of my gripes is that the enemies that are bullet sponges just don't make sense, but they do in Anthem. The foes that take a lot of damage to kill make sense. They're either heavily armored units or huge vehicles and titans, and I'm not questioning why they take so much damage. Additionally, there's actually variety to game play. Yes, most quests are excuses to get from point A to B to shoot a variety of enemies, but there's also puzzles and other quests. Something you don't see a lot in Shooter Looters.

Also, yes there's micro-transactions and they charge more than they should, but anything you can buy with money you can buy using coin you earn in game. Also, just the beginning armor is awesome.

If you have some principled distaste for Shooter Looters and Games as a Service then sure, stray away from this, but it's actually a good game and I don't want it to die an early death because of people preexisting prejudices.

I love this game, Anthem is awesome, the game has some problems, normal for a game that is not finished. Anthem has a style similar to Destiny and Monster Hunter, with aspects of Diablo 3, there are things to improve, but the game is too good to receive score 4 or below.

While I initially felt like Anthem was one the best games I had played recently, I'm modifying my review to reflect the current state of things. Things were fine for me initially but then I started having frequent network errors and mission issues (e.g. get taken to the main menu after a mission instead of seeing the results, getting placed in missions that don't end, getting placed in missions where the main trigger never occurs, try to start a mission only to end up at the main menu again) and a few hard crashes. Also, the game was so much better while the story-line played out. Now that I've completed it, the game play is pretty repetitive and hearing the same comments over and over gets old. Making it worse, frequently have to try a mission a few times before it actually works properly which makes the loading times more annoying. Potential is there but needs more content and it is currently extremely buggy.

I really enjoyed Destiny and Warframe but was skeptical of Anthem due to the reviews. Decided to purchase it anyway since I thought the demo was okay. I really like it so not sure where all the hate is coming from. Great graphics and sound and gameplay has been a lot of fun. Took me a bit to get use to flying but really enjoying the flying aspect also. Hovering above the battlefield and bringing down elemental attacks is a lot of fun. I started out trying to solo most missions but like Destiny, found there was a greater chance of success if I joined others. Solo'ing can be overwhelming at my current level. Exploring has also been really enjoyable so glad they have a freeplay mode. I've taken hundreds of screenshots already.

Played the demo and found under water travel mechanics to be very difficult. They've improved that by leaps and bounds in the release and even have fine tuning settings to help tweak the feeling for your individual style.

Graphics are superb even though they are not at the level that was shown in the E3 videos prior to the demo or release. Still one of the best on the market.

Javelin powers are nice, fun, fluid, and feel great when using them.

The skin, paint, and texture system is by far the best I've seen in any game. It is incredible and I've spent hours just tweaking and playing around with different combinations to find one cooler than the one I just spend 40 minutes creating. They could have released just that as a stand alone utility and I would have enjoyed that as much as the rest of the game.

    Now for the bad...

    1) Some weapons feel numb and the shotguns are almost useless taking too long between shots to be effective when you are being swarmed by dozens of mobs.
    2) There are only 3 max weapons for each weapon type. Most of them perform in similar fashions with very little to differentiate one from the next.
    3) Lack of enemy types - Three basic humanoid enemies in the game - so gets repetitive real fast. There is a fourth coming in an update, that still isn't that many in what is supposed to be a massive world with a core system that is supposed to create new monsters at will when a cataclysm strikes.
    4) NPC's are stationary, never move their feet, barely move their arms, and don't feel like real people. They more resemble animatronics than a person that is supposed to be in a living world full of interactions.
    5) There is a story, it is weak and thin and doesn't even last until max level before you are through it. I managed to finish the story on three separate characters between levels 16-21. All well before the level 30 cap. That makes it feel like you are end game before you even hit an end game level.
    6) You can only have 3 characters, so it makes role playing with one character per Javelin impossible.
    7) After the main story and the grind to 30, you find yourself not being rewarded with much at all. With such as low number of weapons to drop, you find out quick what works for your play style. That leaves the game void of anything worth the grind to max level. Master craft weapons start dropping at level 25, but what does that get you... they still look pretty much the same as level 1 weapons.
    8) Weapon design is very simplistic and lacking any style that makes me want to have a weapon. The coolest weapons to me are the ones that are used by the Colossus and they all look the same except for very minor changes between the models of auto cannon and the grenade launcher.
9)Main hub doesn't have a chat and if you are grouped together, the game doesn't even put you all in the same social hub. It took our group of 4 and split us up into four different social hubs so we couldn't even check out each other's suits up close.
    10) no end game content. This explains why they refused to say how many hours of game play the game had. The Division 2 has already said it should take about 30 hours to get to level 30. After playing the beta, I can agree with that. Anthem would never go on record for a time frame... huge tell that something was amiss in that area.

The list goes on and on and on. This game could easily have been polished for another year just adding content. Instead Bioware is forced to release it in this state by EA, because EA has shareholders and a schedule that cannot be skewed otherwise share prices drop. Its all about the shareholders people, don't think for a moment that EA gives two &*(#@ about releasing high quality games. They care about money. If you check their ticker on yahoo business, not a single article mentions Anthem... everything is Apex, Apex, Apex.

I feel bad for Bioware because it is a shadow of its former self which most people knew when EA bought them out, that was going to be the result. Here were are seeing it first hand. There are very few developers that generate thoughtful, properly crafted games that tell a great story. Most of those studios are not owned by a major publisher. Even when critic reviews, which are rumored to be paid for, don't rate the game high, that is a huge red flag.

Fortunately, we have the option of shifting over to the Division 2 which releases on the 15th of March and is likely to garner much of the customer base of Anthem. Its beta had more content than Anthem's release and is just as beautiful. Its benefit is that Ubisoft has actually put effort into a sequel that builds on Div 1.

I am not saying I won't come back to Anthem. I will keep tabs on it after I get my fill of Div 2. Good luck Bioware... You'll need all you can muster to make it through the storm

I've thoroughly enjoyed the game play. The story isn't the greatest in the world but I've seen worse. Bioware stories are always better in a vacuum. I believe the dissatisfaction stems from a lack of knowledge. Games of this type never start out fully fleshed out. Vanilla WoW had plenty of issues and that was a pay to play game after the initial purchase.

In all honesty I think the reviewers are likely not fans of this genre or have unrealistic expectations. Sure there are issues with the game. That being said it delivers in plenty of areas that result in fun gun play and a beautiful environment. I've encountered 2 game stopping glitches in 30 hours. Other than that pretty much a great time. Loading times aren't nearly as bad as all of you claim. I've timed them between 40 and 120 seconds. There have been games with worse that no one complained about. Likely it is due to the fast paced nature of cooperative MMORPG Looter shooter style games. You want to get in and out quickly and enjoy yourself. I get it we all have stuff to do. Understand the limits of the situation and you'll manage your expectations accordingly. The Frostbite engine is awesome and produces some nice environments with decent physics and fun gameplay. However, it is clearly a demanding engine. That knowledge alone should tell you the consoles will have some longer load times due to that demand. If you want shorter load times get a PC. I've watched a 360 take 4 minutes to load Skyrim, an amazing game. My PC could load that same main area within 20 seconds. I'm more impressed Bioware managed to optimize the console hardware as much as they did.

All you do is look for room to complain rather than marvel at some of the greatness a product has to offer. Ignorance breeds all kinds of dissatisfaction in a product. I believe there is a correlation to the growing gamer community in relation to these types of games and the amount of knowledge to contextualize what you're actually experiencing. Outside of the technical ignorance there is the financial ignorance. I want you all to think about the last time a standard launch version of a video game exceeded 60 dollars. Offhand it was more than a decade ago. Now think about the cost of designing a game this complex with servers and the support staff to run it around the clock. I don't even need to formally run the numbers to tell you the cost to produce these games has gone up, especially online based games that require dedicated servers. The simple conclusion is that if the cost to produce increases and the cost to sell doesn't they will need to find ways to generate revenue elsewhere through DLC, expansions, or cosmetic goods. This stuff isn't free and a billion dollar gaming company doesn't grow off of giving away their profit margin. All of this complaining won't force the gaming companies to adapt to your demands. It will make them realize they can't produce games of this complexity for a price you're willing to pay. All we will have left is trash like Fortnite.

So please continue to complain and watch every good developer disappear. You'll get F2P trash that was slapped together overnight with the depth and complexity of the play dough my grandmother used to make when I was a kid. I could ramble longer but I doubt many will read this and its just me ranting at the people ranting.

This game is Destiny + Mass Effect + the ability to fly. Overall, this is a fun game. Solid gameplay, and soaring around in a javelin is very fun. Unfortunately, this game lacks polish and doesn't meet it's full potential

This game is an insult to the gaming community.
You can go watch serious youtube gamers explain exactly what's wrong with it (and there's a lot)
People who give it a 7-10 score are either paid to do so, or 10 year olds playing their first game.
    The flight mechanic is nice

Everything this game could have done to make it good it failed at miserably. It's a gross misunderstanding of what makes a good game and is fundamentally broken not just mechanically and technically but right to the core the entire concept has been implemented in the worst possible ways.

It is a very very very boring game. But flying is fun, yes. It would be fine if it was an early access free to play game on which they would build something playable and enjoyable... but now and for such amount of money? No dude.

This is the last time when I buying BioWare games! I can’t play 1,5 hours with crushes, keyboard bugs, sound disable and stuff like that. Flying fun first hour then it’s just boring short way between loadscreens. I try to refund after 3 hours of playing but they refuse it. That was a last stop, EA and Bioware. Keep your unworkable games to yourself, you see my money for the last time.

Anthem is the latest new looter shooter IP, but incredibly fails to learn any lessons that have been learned from Destiny and The Division. Anthem has an average story that lasts around 15 hours - which is disappointing coming from Bioware - and a severe lack of unique, or even interesting end game content.

The Good: The Flying in Anthem is amazing, the customization is fun and robust, and the powers you get to use in the field often feel interesting, (if not always rewarding.)

The Bad: Shooting is a chore, enemy AI is BAD, and the enemies are often not fun to fight or interact with. The story is strikingly generic, especially for Bioware's standards of excellence. The writing is... ok, but the interaction options with characters are limited and minimal. All of Bioware's strength of storytelling got lost in making this game, for the story itself, to the ways you could define your character.

The open world has 2-3 types of events that usually revolve around gathering or shooting, and none of it is done well. The enemies in the wild serve no real purpose, and the world itself while beautiful, is also VERY repetitive and same-y. The loot is... generally pretty boring, and the world has no other ways to interact with it, other than shooting and looting.

The Ugly: Loading times are massive if you're using a non SSD drive, plentiful, and poor utilization means that things like the Forge, (the area you go to pimp out your mech,) are loading screens that shouldn't exist. Loading itself leaves you nothing to do but stare at the same title cards over and over, and yes, if you drift too far away from your group you get pulled into ANOTHER loading screen.

Anthem isn't just half baked, it's not even fully concepted. None of the aspects of the game mesh well, there are fundamental design choices that need to be undone, and nothing in the game shines as top of its class. For a game to come out AFTER destiny/warframe/the division, and be worse than all three, is a shockingly inept move from a studio that used to spin gold.

I find the game a lot of fun to play. The gameplay itself is very satisfying, with the mobility bringing a lot into the mix. I love how your abilities cool down so fast that you're using them very often. That combined with dodges, flying bursts, jumps, melee and shooting results in a bag of stuff you can constantly keep getting better at stringing together.

Just today, I got a "Masterwork" tier venom grenade for my Interceptor that has 200% charge = it can be thrown twice every full cooldown (or once every half a cooldown) which has a perk that gives it 100% increase in acid damage after a melee kill for 10 seconds. I also got a component that boosts any assault ability (the venom bomb in this case) 50% in damage for 5 seconds after each strike ability (tempest strike)...

Both of those items add to how much ammo drops and I also have a component that adds 40% to pistol damage after picking up ammo AND my legendary handgun has a perk that it does 200% damage when hovering...

So I can fly in, throw in poison from the air, drop, tempest strike them (detonates a combo, kills target, activates 150% damage boost to acid, hop in the air, throw in my second acid bomb doing huge damage and if I picked up a very likely ammo drop while on ground, I can then fire at the enemies below with 240% damage boost on my already hard hitting pistol, before dodging away.
If I include my support ability before that which weakens enemy resistances by 33%, I will hit them fast and I will hit them hard.

Made my javelin look like a giant killer bee to go with that. So that aspect of the game is very satisfying and very fun.

HOWEVER the gameplay alone isn't something that can carry the game forward for long.

So while this game easily has the potential to get a score of 8, I have to admit that the incredibly bad bugs in the start (most of which still persist) made the early experience VERY frustrating. The game feels undoubtedly unfinished and rushed out and suffers greatly for it.

While I love the customization of actually being able to change the different parts to different materials and any color you wish (great not being tied to changing shaders or so), the cosmetics have been very bare bones, there only having been 4 armor sets to customize my favorite javelin with during the entire time and I'm now at the endgame.

That 4 includes the one you start with and the legion of dawn armor set that is offered in the more expensive edition of the game (or in Origin Premier, which I am playing the game through, not having purchased the game itself.)
1 of the armor sets have appeared in the (item recycling) "featured store" where you can buy items via in-game currency or bought currency and a SINGLE ONE has been on offer to buy from the game's forge. ONE.

The cosmetic loot does not drop from missions or loot chests either.. atleast not yet. However they are planning on adding it to stronghold chests.. but it's yet another part in their journey of actually finishing the game they released.

The loot... oh boy. It has some good, some bad and some simply unexplainable things... the good; I like the component system, how you can trade in different components that aren't in any way tied to cosmetics and make builds, some of which can create some very nice mixes and matches to build something powerful. Fantastic idea.

The bad: The weapon types all have a few variations which all are the same 3d model. The masterwork and legendary weapons are the same model with fancier colors, but they hardly feel very exciting or unique. A lot of games have more unique looking gun skins than this games highest tier items. There also is no way to customize weapon looks. This results in none of your weapons having that "personality" we gamers often love in our looter shooters. In some other games, I have actually felt an attachment to a gun. Here, there's none of that. You just switch in the one with the best stats.

The unexplainable: There is no stats screen where you can see the stats of your javelin. Gear raises damage, armor, shields etc.... great. But there is no way to see what they total up to. How on earth did that get by development?

Right now it can also be very frustrating finding masterwork or legendary gear that simply are completely underwhelming. I understand if something drops and has a perk that isn't what you're looking for, but for pointless perks to be on "legendary" weapons... it's just demotivating.

Has this game been worth the 15€(16-17 dollars) fee for Origin Premier on PC? YES. Absolutely. Alot of entertainment from such a small amount.

But with the bugs, the clearly unfinished features and very little to actually do (3 strongholds, 6 samey contracts per day) in the endgame etc. this is certainly NOT a game I would recommend to buy fully priced at this time.

I recommend you pick this up later when it has been finished/fixed and is on sale and I'm sure there is fun to be had with it.

If you don't want to deal with the bugs, I'd recommend waiting another month or so to play the game.

The combat is fun and each javelin's way of fighting is unique. You can be an Interceptor fighting up in the face of your enemies in explosive and intense combat. You can be a Storm calmly floating 50 yards up while raining death and destruction down below you. You can be a Colossus lobbing bombs at the hordes or smashing through them with your shield. You can be a Ranger delivering tactical punishment or support from a range while remaining just agile enough to avoid the enemy attacks, but also agile enough to deliver the coup de grâce with your hidden sword.

The story is intriguing and I actually cared about the characters. There is the main story and 3 main agents stories. It takes about 40 hours to complete the main story and the agent stories if you are playing through at a casual pace. There are also a ton of side stories around the city (dialogue only).

Yes, the graphics are amazing.....but what really is important about the visuals is the design. The scenery is amazing. I commonly find myself wishing I could pause the game just to take in everything around me.

As for endgame, there are 3 daily legendary contracts (increased difficulty randomly generated missions with a better loot table), 3 strongholds (aka dungeon/raid), an unlimited supply of randomly generated freelancer contracts, and a free roam mode. What this game really needs, is an "endless mode". I would also like to see some things equivalent to Diablo's bounties, greater rifts, boss fights, etc... Maybe some PvP? It took a while for the other "looter shooters" to add all the endgame content that they wanted, so I'm going to sit back and be patient.

A lot of people complain about load times, and also complain about strange issues that are caused by playing this game with a hard disk drive. If you play this game with a hard disk drive, you WILL have problems. A game with textures and detail this extravagant is too much for a HDD. Play this game on a solid state drive. HDD is a dying technology. Frankly, I'm happy to see a game developer make a game that actually takes advantage of the power of a SSD. It's time we move out of the realm of old primitive HDDs. If you do not have a SSD, go get one, install Windows and your games on it. This will be the single biggest performance boost to you computer you have ever experienced.

For the record, I have 110 hours in the game. I beat all of the main story missions including the agent stories at about 40 hours of play-time. So, I've spent ~70 hours playing strongholds, repeatable missions, and playing the story missions with my friends. I have a ~500 gear score Storm and Interceptor, and ~470 gear score Colossus and Ranger. I think 506 is the current max possible gear score. I'm excited when I get home from work each day because I get to play some Anthem. As long as that excitement is still there, BioWare has done something right.

I give the game a 9/10. -1 point for little annoyances in the game: limited mobility in the city, lack of intelligent AI with NPCs in the city, lack of tactical AI with enemies, no in-game text chat system, and no endless game mode.

    1) How can people defend such weak game that in my opinion is another cashgrab insult sold for 60 bucks?
    2) Why do people still buy games from EA, after what they have done for the past years?

    What did Bioware had:
    - almost 7 years od development (they started in 2012)
    - know how
    - decent budget
    - EA's assurance that this time it will be different

And we received a game with:
    - great flying mechanics
    - downgraded graphics. Quite nice but without variety (ME: Andromeda had it done way better)
    - weak story, or mediocare at best (yes it's a looter/shooter, but story was somewhat prioritized)
    - very weak optimalization (fps drops with good PC's, eternity long loading screens)
    - bugs/crashes
    - dull missions without variety
    - brainless AI
    - basically no interesting drops in a looter/shooter
    - previous gen gameplay menu with loading screens
    - nothing to do at end game
    - shooting "feeling" mediocare at best
    - microtransactions

Basically again an unfinnished game with a lot of issues.

So what happend with common sense and logical thinking? It's EA. Everybody should know by now how it will end, with EVERY title they will ever produce. And don't get me started with: "But Bioware was working on Anthem" Bioware is long dead, only the name remains, nothing more.

To be honest this game deserves a 5-6/10, but because it was another promising title destroyed by EA I gave it a 1/10. They deserve that 1 point for the flying mechanics.

Contrary to most reviews, I believe this game rests on the upper-end of the middle. It has a lion's share of faults, but complimented by enough good to make the experience entertaining, if not wholly fulfilling.

I'll attempt to outline my points in pros (+) and cons (-), and explain why I consider them such. As a preface, I've sunk about 115 hours into the game to date. With that said, let's begin.

(+) Gameplay is smooth and well-executed, insofar as movement and combat are concerned. Flight is an aspect of the game that fits seamlessly into shooting, melee and use of abilities, and at its best action in Anthem feels visceral and flowing.

(+) The world is beautiful, and the lore team has done an excellent job with pumping it full of places and nuggets of information to discover.

(+) Free-roam is (in my opinion) a direct upgrade over its competition, especially when stood next to games like Destiny. Public events are entertaining, if a bit repetitious, and the verticality of the world really lends to the experience.

(+) Javelin design is interesting and fairly well balanced, with every option filling a niche that is both impactful in group settings and uniquely capable of dealing with tough content.

(+) The story isn't terrible -- merely 'safe'. It doesn't take any leaps or bounds, and it suffers at times from predictability, but it doesn't bore. The characters involved are for the most part well-written, and I never found myself tiring of their company.

(+) The way high-tier loot interacts with gameplay and the mechanics therein can be very interesting, and there is potential for a great deal of nuance.

(+) Potential. Anthem is brimming with it, provided Bioware is of a mind to capitalize.

    Onto the negative.

(-) Anthem's combat is a double-edged sword, and at its worst, it is a confusing mash of particle effects, bullet sponges and more than a few glitches. Enemies will teleport away, combos won't trigger, and so on. By the end of the game, shooting takes a back seat to abilities, whilst enemies aimbot (literally aimbot. Scar grunts fire bullets that will curve and track you behind cover).

(-) Repetitious game design begets fighting a lot of the same enemies, which in turn saps a lot of the replayability out of the game. This is nothing new to the looter shooter genre, but i nevertheless feel it worthy of mention.

Almost every unique boss encounter, or enemy encounter, is limited to story missions. Freeplay and contracts (general missions) do not feature these mechanics whatsoever. Strongholds have gimmicks of their own, but with how much the game encourages players to farm them, the novelty dissipates quickly.

(-) The loot has a nasty downside. Prior to a recent fix, it was entirely possible to get high tier equipment that yielded stats objectively worse than items acquired through leveling. It is also purely based off RNG, and while the devs did implement ways of targeting specific categories (equipment and components), the latter is limited to a one-per-day timer. Duplicates are a serious, serious issue in this game, and if you choose to grind gear in the end game, expect a minimum of 50% of your drops to be duplicates with useless stats.

Crafting appears to have been intended to offset this, but it doesn't ameliorate the issue of actually -getting- gear. To craft masterworks (the highest tier of gear below Legendaries), you have to first loot the item in question and then either use it to kill a specific amount of enemies or in a set number of public events before you can craft it.

TL;DR - If you can't get an item to drop, you can't craft it. RNG is bad, and duplicates with trash or worse stats are VERY common.

{-} Endgame has a very poor system of tiering. Grandmaster difficulties vary wildly from 'manageable but hard-hitting bullet sponges' to 'you absolutely must have an organized team to do even basic missions' as early as the leap from GM1 to GM2. As it currently stands, there is little to no reason to even attempt these higher tiers of difficulty as GM1 has a very similar chance of dropping the same gear without requiring a larger time investment.

Lastly, though not necessarily a con, the game is a live service and does feature MTX. I haven't had any real issues with them, but the difference between grinding for in-game currency and paying is steep. Very steep. You will never have enough to fully clean out the in-game store without paying, or skipping rotations to save.

In closing, Anthem is a fun experience that lacks longevity, brimming with potential but shrouded in uncertainty. I've put 115 hours into the game, and at this point in time, I don't feel terribly inclined to add any more.

I'll be keeping an eye on it as updates roll out, and I encourage anyone interested to do the same. And if you're thinking of buying it, I suggest you don't. Rather, consider Origin Access (PC), which'll give you the full game for a month priced at 15$.

The game looks fantastic, and the controls are smooth. But other than that i cant say much. I expect a lot more from Bioware. I can go to any game for pretty looks. when i turn to Bioware i want a story i can lose myself in. i cant even say anthem fell short of my expectations for a Bioware story, it wasn't even in the same ballpark.

4 is a perfect score for this game right now. It can be higher after couple of months but we should rate current state of the game. Not promises.

4 is a perfect score for this game right now. It can be higher after couple of months but we should rate current state of the game. Not promises.

    First, negatives:

    * Bugs, bugs everywhere. Game has so many bugs. You won't be able to play 2 hours straight without encountering some. Some of them are really annoying. Like 30m mission you have with your friends and your audio just die out. Complete silence. Normally I would give this game a 5. But amount of bugs I'm encountering made me lower the score to 4
    * Lack of endgame - So this is live service. You suppose to play this game for months. Well good luck with that. You would think that after so many games like this, Bioware would learn from the best and prepare some content? Nope. You have 1 type f mission. You go to the 1 single map (Destiny had like 4 of them) where everything look the same and you kill waves of enemies or some tougher enemy. Game give you multiple missions but in fact - all of the mare the same. Then you have strongholds. 1 is just re-used final mission. 1 is in caves and is boring as hell, boss is just robot you encounter everywhere in the game but with extra shield and that's it. 1 we saw in the demo. One with scorpion king is most fun to play.
    * Total lack of balance - You have something like ultimate ability. Something like game changer. Powerful abilities like in Overwatch that should wreck havoc. Your ultimate ability on high difficulty takes away like I don't know... 2% of enemy HP? you use it all and tougher enemy wont even loose shield so you can drop some of it HP. But guess what - you can have a PISTOL that will do more damage per shot that your ULTIMATE. Game give you 3 GRANDMASTER difficulties. Great right? Complete them for better drop. BUT after doing them several time - you actually get less from them than more. Because it takes much more time to complete them while drop is just slightly better. Early on your abilities rules. After that your guns are just better. Your ultimate become useless. It's a mess.
    * Loot is crap. You have just few abilities. Components and guns. Most guns are just trash. You are only after few of them. You can carry 2 at the same time anyway and you can't switch them during mission so rest is just trash. All guns looks the same. After a while because of low drop and low amount of unique items - you basically gather trash whole game.
    * Boss rewards are trash - so - boss rewards are locked. You can get only 1 masterwork (2nd tier from the top) and never anything better. And ONLY ability. So once you get better item (legendary) then basically there is no point killing the boss. NEVER.
    * Audio is terrible. Most enemies are just silent. You can't locate enemies by audio queues. Audio can just die. And sometimes stuff on screen are silent. Like game can't handle extra audio tracks.

    Now the good things:
    * It's a best iron man simulator ever made
    * Blowing stuff is fun
    * Graphic is good

Basically Anthem is a good looking, shallow, empty 60-80$ with NO CONTENT, microtransactions and it's full of bugs. Unless you want to play little bit broken iron man simulator I suggest skipping it. Try in May. There will be first big patch with content there. Maybe then game will be worth something.

    Story:
    - Poorly written
    - Terribly shallow dialogue options
    - Uninteresting villains
    - Very anticlimactic ending

One of my biggest problems with the story is that it barely explains a thing. For example one of the first enemies in the game are the scars. They are not explained and are just there because.

    Gameplay:
+ Fairly fun mobility in javelins
    - Boring, simple and repetitive shooting mechanics
    - Terrible menus
    - huge graphical downgrade on the map since E3

I'd some up the gameplay just like the definition of insanity, its the same thing over and over again and part of me expects it to change, but it doesn't.

    Performance:
+ Runs much better than expected tbh, most likely due to the frostbite engine
    - UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF LONG LOADING SCREENS, i played with a higher ranged PC and still got load times of about a minute or two
    - Terrible servers leading to fairly regular loss of connection back to the menu or to the fort
    - Some mission just straight up don't work, bosses or enemies just wont spawn causing you to have to restart.

This game stands as a testament by EA to show that they will ruin all they own. Bioware was once a praised developer but EA, just like many other studios, have had the soul sucked out of them. Anthem was good in concept and could have been an amazing single player RPG, but EA forced the live service ideology on them. Ruining any chance it had for success. The game also is clearly not finished shown by the poor polish and overall lack of content. Unless you 100% believe you will like this game DO NOT BUY IT!

This game will die 15 of march if we won't get huge patch repairing all the broken things, including loot system, quick-play mission and pointless levels of difficulty. Why? Because anyone that was smart enough bought the game with origin premier access on February 15.

You can finish the game in about 14 hours and farm for the items for another 20. After that there's nothing to do.

This Game is just bad and doesn't feel like it took 6 years to make. At this point I really feel that Mass effect Andromeda was better than this. Except for flying, there's hardly any pros so I am just listing down the cons -

    - Not enough content

    - No mission variety, go here kill that....rinse and repeat
    - Fort Tarsis is the worst hub that i have ever seen in my life
    - Loading Screens in 2k19?? Really? have these people seen the witcher or RED dead 2 or GTA?
    - Hardly any cosmetics - all Javelins look the same... only colors are different
    - No variation in Gun design - learn something from borderlands

Overall... I dont recommend buying this game. Bioware have lost their touch. Thanks EA for ruining another studio.

This game is the exact reason I'm done buying into hype. I actually am glad. My $60 did NOT go to waste. I paid for a very valuable lesson. I paid for a very valuable lesson. A final nail-in-a-coffin reminder that I will never buy another game based on a trailer. I was looking forward to immersing myself into the world shown in the E3 2017 trailer. A world full of lush beauty, violent creatures, intense weather, personal relationships (ya know... remember the old BioWare?) and at the very least a world that felt alive. Somewhere along the 6 year development cycle, EA probably halted everything in the wake of Destiny's success, and someone high up decided to make this a looter shooter, instead... I was duped by EA and BioWare into believing that mash-up maybe could've taken us back to a better time in gaming, mixed with new gaming techniques to enjoy expansive worlds with our friends.... What we got was a half-baked game that has no clue what it was trying to be. If you think they're "working on fixes" then you've already missed the point... also, those fixes aren't coming, anyway. What an utter disgrace. Biggest let down in gaming I've experienced so far. Waking up after the very short honeymoon period of having fun shooting things was sobering to say the least. I have more fun watching the E3 2017 trailer on loop than I do actually playing this game. Hopefully one day soon, triple A gaming will just completely crumble and be replaced by AI where we can all be our own Javelins. Until then.... don't spend $$$ on hype anymore... Expand

BioWare died for this so that EA CEO can have 300% more salary. Because 30+ millions is not enough and want more. I am glad BioWare is dead and other studios too. Maybe they’ll learn something. I am also glad that they laid off most of their employees.

Which, I figured hey day one so sure things happen. After the day one patch, my fps proceeded to dip into the 10's. I have 16 gb of ram a i5 7600k and a rtx 2070. more than capable of running this game. I did put the game on a new drive with a brand new install of windows, which still fixed nothing.

After another patch, I did get it running on all low, but at least I could play. I queue into the first mission, but the mission kept getting stuck at certain points never finishing and I'd have to join a new party. This happened for a couple of days.

It was so bugged, I didn't get to complete the first mission. I will change my score once I can play the game adequately but for now a 0/10 is justified, it's unplayable. Which is unacceptable.

Anthem is not ready for market everyone told them but EA put out anther unfinished game. Theres potential here but its not the cash cow EA are looking for in this current state so there probally sack Bioware and abort this game. Quality seems impossible for EA when greed is the the driving force.

The graphics and facial animations are very impressive and the world looks gorgeous. The weapons feel quite fun to use and the jetpack movement is also quite fun. End game weapons feel powerful. Most fun when playing with friends.

Personally I love this game, although it does have its shortcomings. Anthem has an amazing story line which can be expected of a developer such as Bio-ware, there is plentiful content and customization to your javelin, weapons and skills, you can spend countless hours admiring the view in free play or you can immerse yourself in some more challenging Grand-master 1-2-3 strongholds.Personally I love this game, although it does have its shortcomings. BUT.....
it also has large load times and frame rate drops. Whilst Bio-ware is attempting to fix these issues it is still prominent within the game. Most negative reviews i have witnessed is due to the developer and the over hype that every game gets and cannot live up to expectations.

70 hours into the game and 3 out of 4 of my character have the “One Shot” health bug. Fallout 76 had me playing 200 hours until I was fed up. And now Anthem is already fed up with me. If this was an exploit, they would have fixed it within a day. 3/10 can’t play the game anymore pls fix.

After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
