    Clever and fleshed out adventure. Even with a guide at hand, it's still an extremely challenging but entertaining title, and everything is there for a reason. Very good on all platforms where it came out, even Virtual Console. Must play.

    This is my favorite Zelda game. I play through once or twice a year. I can't recommend a better game for a kid to get them interested in video games as a whole than Ocarina of Time.

    I have always knew that this game was considered a masterpiece, and that it was considered "the" best game, but I never really understood how such an apparently old and aged-looking video game could be praised so much, I just assumed that it was all the grumpy old players who played this as children and were hit by nostalgia.

    But last year I got the chance to play and finish this video    I have always knew that this game was considered a masterpiece, and that it was considered "the" best game, but I never really understood how such an apparently old and aged-looking video game could be praised so much, I just assumed that it was all the grumpy old players who played this as children and were hit by nostalgia.

    But last year I got the chance to play and finish this video game. And from the very first hours of playing, this game just brings you into another dimension, a similar worlds to ours, with woods, lakes, castles and plains, but adding creatures of all kinds and following the adventure of a small hero. This game has an incredible level design, emotional storytelling, mystical and somehow nostalgia-inducing soundtracks even if you heard them for the first time, never boring gameplay, and funny interactions with all the characters that you encounter through the hero's journey. Technically it is well made, excluding a few bugs and counter intuitive mechanisms, that really don't get in the way of the game play.

    I think this game has an atmosphere and an hidden subtext, that is relatable and resonates unconsciously to every human being, that's why it struck anyone who played it. Combined with it's pristine art that mimics the beauty of the real world in a newly explored technological way and following the adventure of each and everyone of us through growth, change, responsibility and love, it's no surprise that for now, and maybe for a while, this is the best videogame ever made.

    If you can, try to play the original N64 version, in my opinion the 3DS remake just doesn't recreate the same magic, by using new textures that don't really fit with the original atmosphere of the original game, and also the original was intended for an home console which means it's supposed to be played on a big screen to really appreciate the open world, rather than the small screen of the 3DS.

    *Bonus points if you play the original version and try to see yourself as a 10 years old in 1998 during the Christmas holidays, filled only with joy and curiosity, and entering this dimension. Then you'll get me.    … Expand

A mecânica do link de viajar pro passado e para o futuro é incrível, a sensação de andar a cavalo por hyrule é super imersa, cada templo com seus puzzles inovadores até o water temple que mesmo sendo muito difícil e frustante,( passei algumas horas naquele templo ) continua sendo uma ótima experiência e posso dizer com firmeza que Ocarina of Time é e sempre será o melhor jogo de todos os tempos… Expand

    I'm mixed on this since some people say they hate it or loved it with the more being love it. I've never played it because Nintendo doesn't re-release it, people today hate it because they say it hasn't aged well.

    After the release of FFVII I believed that a game at the same level would not be released anytime soon. Glad I was wrong. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is a amazing game and didn't copy mechanics or the style of FF or Resident Evil. "Ocarina of Time" was indeed a starting point to influence many games later and remains at the top. Link the hero of time!!

But when you look at it from a quality standpoint, it's not that great. For one, it's ugly, even for the time. The environments and bland and usually boring. The controls also suffer from being terrible. Most of the dungeons are tedious and boring, with the Water Temple being the worst. The only thing I really enjoy about this game is the time travel mechanic, but it felt to much like A Link To The Past, the greatest Legend Of Zelda game. I always come back to this game after a while to see if my opinion has changed, but it never seems too. Some times it pains me to see how blind people are when it comes to games like this and the N64 its self. But I guess you can't change opinions that have been set in stone.… Expand

    I will always appreciate this game for introducing so many innovations in the series. The franchise has us used on doing that but Ocarina of Time took it on another level. It changed gaming for ever. I will always love this game and this franchise.

The 3D worked for a veteran Zelda player and the reinvention was more than welcomed. Like a buddy of mine once said, before I played Ocarina, I liked video games. O jogo é incrivel, ele foi quem criou a trava na mira oque deixa a jogabilidade na batalha 1000 vezes melhor, não posso deixar de citar as musicas deste jogo, que são incriveis, quando vou fazer uma tarefa ou algo do tipo eu sempre coloco essas musicas para ouvir. Os graficos não são tão bons para hoje em dia mais não posso descordar que na época que lançou eram incriveis. Agora vem um dos pontos mais fortes desse jogo, as cenas marcantes, tipo ele tirando a master sword do templo do tempo e indo pro futuro( que era algo que os jogos daquela época não faziam muito que era a viagem no tempo) mais agora vou falar algo que me fez fazer essa critica, que é: eu não passei raiva em nenhuma vez jogando esse jogo, oque os jogos de hoje em dia não tem feito muito, focar na diverção, hoje em dia os jogos estão querendo virar uma esperiencia, é sempre obrigatório você passar tanta raiva no jogo?     It was good in my childhood when it came out originally. I passed the game and N64 on to my son and it's still good in 2022. EVERY Gamer should play Ocarina of Time.

    Ich weiß nicht mal mehr, zum wievielten Male ich das Spiel jetzt schon durchgespielt habe. Es ist und bleibt auch heute noch eines der besten Spiele, die es je gab. Für mich auch bis heute immer noch das beste Zelda, da kann auch kein Breath of the Wild mithalten. Davon ein Remake und ich piss mir vor Freude in die Hose.     Да, эта игра действительно заслуживает свою оценку, лично я снизил 1 балл лишь за бектрекинг, но он там настолько незначительный, что большинство сочтут его за логичный манёвр игры, чтобы ты ещё лучше мог познакомиться со старыми локациями в этом маленьком, но таком большом мире.    … Expand

    Juego de juegos, épico por donde se lo vea, un total antes y después en la industria. Hoy no hay juego de acción que no tomé inspiración de alguna forma en lo que definió Zelda. A día de hoy aun persiste en cuanto a calidad y entretenimiento.

    It saddens me to see 500 negative reviews complaining about the graphics or the water temple. Of course the game isn't perfect but what makes a game good is the gameplay and Ocarina of Time has stellar gameplay. The invention of Z targeting and the new verticality in the dungeons have changed gaming forever.

    Графика сносная, как и управление.
    Ну а музыка шикарна, хочется слушать и слушать. До этого не в одну часть серии не играл, так что знакомство довольно приятное.    Прошел игру в 2022, играется довольно интересно, несмотря на то, что игра выглядит детской, тупил и не знал что делать довольно часто.
    Графика сносная, как и управление.
    Ну а музыка шикарна, хочется слушать и слушать.

    When i first played this at release as a kid and thought I was close to the finish i had barely scratched the surface. Great gameplay, story and sound. To solve the puzzles you needed to talk to other random kids on the bus as there were no complete walkthroughs on youtube. This is an example of how games used to be. A legend that i will forever remember.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This video game is more than just action adventure. This game to me represents a feeling, an atmosphere. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time shows of life from childhood to adulthood like no other game does, in the most subtle way possible.

    Going into this game, I had high expectations. I've heard many claims that this is the best Zelda game of all time, or even the best video game to have ever come out. After finishing Ocarina of Time, I can tell why people like this game so much.

    I think that this game was designed to be special and revolutionary. One of my favorite parts of the game is it's veriaty. Ocarina of Time never fails to establish folk, lore and characters in the most thought out and polished way. I like every society of this game: From the Kokiri to the Gerudo. They're all distinct and intersting. Nothing like you would see in real life. I felt like I was a child again while playing this game. Once I played the game for longer, it hit me, and it hit me hard. That moment after you become an adult and arive at hyrule town, it's dark. And a lot of the dungeons want to convay that same level of unease.

    Talking of Dungeons, I liked every single on of these dungeons. Every dungeon works with the items you get in set dungeon. It's how Zelda began. But it goes beyond that. The dungeons work with levels. You need to climb up and down diffrent levels. You would think that you would get lost or overwhelmed, but no. Besides the water temple, every dungeon was straight forward but interesting. The puzzles are at times too easy to solve but dungeons like ice cavern or the water temple are challenging.

    If there was something that I personaly didn't like about this game, it is it's diffuculty. Every boss, even Ganandorf, is relativly easy to beat. But that's not necesseraly a bad thing. I think this game was designed for newcomers and veterans of the Zelda frenchise. It's learning-curve is perfect.

    If there's one thing I like about the bosses and enimies, it's there creativity. Every boss felt special and distinct. I exptremely liked Bongo Bongo Boss and the Twinrowas. Ganodorf/Ganon was so epic to fight. The music was confusing and uneasy, which is fitting.

    Alright, I think the music is my favorite part of this game. Koji Kondo has been the composer of many legandary Nintendo titles like Super Mario Bros. and composed the music for the first Zelda as well as A Link to the Past. He was familiar with the Zelda games. I think he reflected the gameplay and atmosphere with his composing skills perfectly. Probably my favorite tune was the Gerudo Valley theme and like I've stated before, Ganondorfs Boss theme. Even though Koji Kondo was limited with using MIDI'S only, he was doing a very good job. To this day it still sound amazing. Every song fits the enviroment and doesn't get anoying because of repetition. I like that music is so interactive in this game. You play the ocarina yourself and it's essential to the game. Tunes like the Song of Storm are breathtaking.

    There's still a lot of things I would like to talk about, however I don't have a lot of characters to write left.

    It's pacing is perfect, it's length is perfect. There's just nothing I could critique really. Yeah I know, it's an old game so it's not the most fluent game, and it has a lot of glitches, but that's fine. Although that might sound cliché: to me it's more of a characteristic of the game. I think it has become my favorite game. This masterpiece is beautiful in every way imaginable. For me, it change how I look at games and at life even. It's not just some piece of entertainment: It's almost like a lesson of life.

    This is the only game I cried in. The ending was so emotional for me. I felt complete, but I was sad at the same time that the game has come to an end. I had to move on and play other video games.

    It's time for me to leave, but I will be back!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ocarina of Time launched the Zelda series into 3D and set a bar for video game excellence that has stood the test of time to this day. This game is the video game equivalent of The Godfather movie it is that excellent and brilliant. Like The Godfather, it did not just make waves, it made a tsunami still being felt today.

    When I booted it up and saw the title screen for the first time, I realized immediately that Ocarina of Time would be absolutely historic before I even started playing it. When I started playing it, the game completely blew me away with its excellence, and kept topping itself over and over again all the way to the end. After beating it for the first time, the feeling I had at that moment was to replay the whole game from start to finish all over again. The key to this game’s greatness and timelessness is its story. It is so solid, that most movies have worse plots than this game. The plot of Ocarina of Time was clearly intended for it to be the keystone game of the Zelda series for everything that came before and after it, well before Nintendo came out the official Zelda timeline. When Nintendo came out with the official timeline, Ocarina of Time was placed as the keystone game of the series in it.

    The rest of the game is just as solid as the story. The soundtrack is an all-time great, The villain in Ganondorf is extremely intelligent akin to a real life dictator, despite being mostly third person felt first person in immersion, and has easily some of the most powerful women warriors and leaders in all of fiction; topped off by a princess in Zelda that disguises herself as a reclusive warrior boy called Sheik for 7 years, and is never a damsel in distress. As I have grown over the years, it is that latter I have the greatest respect for in this game because it is still extremely rare. While Zelda/Sheik is the most notable woman warrior and leader in Ocarina of Time, there are many other powerful woman warriors and leaders in this game as well. Princess Zelda literally gets trained to be a warrior by her caretaker in a warrior woman in Impa. There is also a strong willed but bratty Zora princess and sage in Ruto, your forest friend and later sage in Saria, and a tribe that consists of nothing but powerful women warrior of color in the Gerudo. One of them in Nabooru gains the courage to defy her evil leaders in Kome, Kotake, and Ganondorf, and pays the price for it only to be revealed as a sage.

    This Gerudo tribe portion is by far the weakest point in Ocarina of Time. I have massive respect for the Gerudo tribe being powerful women of color, but the way you defeat them I recoiled in racist disgust. You have to stun them by taking pot shots with arrows, and it was exacerbated by Link being white, blond, and blue eyed. Despite this cringing way of winning over the Gerudo, the game still shows extremely powerfully how their own leaders in Kome, Kotake, and Ganondorf abandoned and betrayed them, with Nabooru proving to be the only Gerudo Leader with a moral compass to care and believe in her own people. This racial factor also led me to conclude that Princess Zelda is only member of the Hyrulian Royal Family with a moral compass because she is the only one not imperiously detached from the rest of the kingdom, and saw it all as Sheik. (An extremely rare occasion where the material redeemed itself by the masterful and perfect execution of the story around the Geurdo Tribe, Nabooru, Kome, Kotake, and Ganondorf.)

    As for Ganondorf abandoning and betraying his own people, you can just see him lose all shreds of his remaining morality as the story progresses. He wanted to better his fellow Gerudo when seizing the royal throne, but in that timeless phrase “power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely,” he unleashes a seven-year long reign of terror. By the end of the game, he becomes an isolated out of control dictator seeking more and more power in a complete loss of morality, and completely abandons his own tribe. Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time reminds me vividly of real-life dictator Idi Amin of Uganda. They both seized power in a similar way in a coup, and unleashed a reign of terror and destruction of similar length that ended with them being forcefully removed. (Ganondorf 7 years and Idi Amin 8 years)

    Despite its racial flaws, Ocarina of Time remains a masterpiece of a game that has and will be remembered for decades to come as one of the greatest games of all time. You simply will not see all of video gaming, never mind Nintendo and Zelda until you play Ocarina of Time.    … Expand

    context sensitive button prompts suck my ass, it slows the game down and it's frustrating when you walk up to something you want to push and end up climbing it or jumping at it or something
    pushing a block on a grid is not something you should have to take care to do, it's not as tho this game has intelligent puzzles
    there's nothing contemplative about the extra 1 second it takes to completely halt your character and slightly realign yourself to get the correct prompt to show up

    dialogue speed is awful
    you either skip the entire conversation or you're forced to read at the pace of someone with a severe learning disorder
    it's even worse beacuse you're forced through conversations with an owl who tells you what to do because this game would be too directionless otherwise I guess
    and then navi tells you what to do anyway

    the **** owl will even show up to give you tutorials on things that you already know how to do and have already done and the only way you can avoid it is using speedrunning tactics

    the stealth section is the same thing 4 times in a row, a rectangle with 2 guards walking around it

    sometimes the spot you have to stand in to do something is so ridiculously precise I thought more than once I just didn't have some key item yet or something but NOPE
    you can't just be standing on the tree stump with your ocarina out, you have to be standing in THIS EXACT SPOT on the tree stump with your ocarina out
    I had similar issues like this over and over

    in jabu jabu's belly it's one thing to constantly be admonished by the stupid zora child for leaving her alone, it's kind of funny and even tho it's irritating it characterizes her
    it's another thing entirely to "solve a puzzle" and then have navi tell you that you "solved a puzzle" and tell you what the outcomes are and totally slow the game down for no reason
    generally dungeons are just poorly designed and boring, they would all be better if they were linear
    because as it stands all that you do is walk down a corridor, find you can't proceed, backtrack, repeat until you find the place you're supposed to be
    there's nothing interesting about it, you're not exploring, you're not solving a puzzle, you're just walking in circles

    you can get an area of effect spell from a faerie and you get maybe 4 uses of it before you're out of mana so you might want to use it sparingly
    but as it turns out it's never **** useful anyway
    mini game where you have to light some torches? using your magic fire won't solve it, no feeling clever for you
    enemy that's 50% underground and can't be hit by your sword til it's out?
    fire won't hit it either, you just gotta lure it out and hit it with your boomerang
    it's not the worst to have items of your kit that you don't use but it's indicative of how bad the designers were at putting these ideas together

    combat is dull and z targetting doesn't even function properly, it sort of locks you in the direction you're already facing and sort of locks on to a target but only if they barely move and are very close

    "if you let me go I'll sell this to you for 50 rupees"

    As someone who didn't play this game when I was younger and have the bias of it being a game I played when I was young, I can't stand this game. I very much understand why someone who played this game when it came out, or when they were a child would love it so much. But coming from a person playing it in the year 2022, this game just isn't fun.     The story is amazing. An expanding world with interesting side characters and a story easy to follow, I can't help but consider this my favorite Zelda story. Its simplicity allows a lot to be desired, but also a lot that is fulfilled.

    The challenges the game brings are not too hard, but neither is it easy. It's fun solving what to do and how to do it.

    The world is small yet potent. There's surprisingly so much to do and lays a foundation for future Zelda titles, despite Hyrule being its smallest compared to the rest of the Zelda games.

    And the best part of the game: the tone. The feeling you get playing the game is that of child-like wonder and a genuine sense of adventure. It can be serious when it needs to, funny, happy, and scary, and yet never does it feel like one tone overrides the other.

    And the gameplay (as i said) is the best part of the game, and easily compliments the story.

    Overall, the game is a 10/10

    I only played this game as I got older, 20 years after it originally released and yet, despite the many technical limitations and the annoying camera, I think this game is a masterpiece. I hope Nintendo will one day return to making those classic dungeons and fun stories.

    Goron city is a spectacle to behold, quirky characters and Dodongos cavern has an absolutely perfect level layout to have fun and enticing gameplay.
    Controller layout makes sense even for new player. Even with delicate n64 controller and with how prone the joystick    Honestly this is the perfect game, I love it! it's open world and has a lovely and heart felt story and i played for hours.

    One of my first games ever, so it has overall a special place in my heart, but it's also one of the best games of all time, because this game, even for it's age is better than many other new games of this time. Surely it doesn't have good graphics etc. but there never was even one game that's better than this if you think of the age, it's almost 23 years old.     Christmas day 1998, walking into the living room and unwrapping the N64 was only the start.

    After Christmas dinner I dived straight into Zelda for the duration of the night and fell in love with this
    game ever since.

    Literally my childhood and an amazing one with Ocarina Of Time apart of it.

    This is hands down the best game ever created, I originally wasn't planning on getting the game, since I never played any past Zelda game before OoT, but man that commercial I saw on our living room TV seeing Volvagia for the first time, I snapped immediately "I need this game"
