    As someone who didn't play this game when I was younger and have the bias of it being a game I played when I was young, I can't stand this game. I very much understand why someone who played this game when it came out, or when they were a child would love it so much. But coming from a person playing it in the year 2022, this game just isn't fun. What i mean by that is, sometimes it wants you to experiment, but then it punishes you when you get something wrong, which ironically discourages exploration.     Outdated and bland. While this may have at one time presented new and interesting ideas, they are not at all engaging or fantastic from a modern perspective. Coupling this with poorly executed mechanics, frustrating tedium, and an uninteresting world, Ocarina of Time is best passed up for future games in the series or even for other games entirely.

It lacks basic features like jumping dancing or easy mode. when i first played the game a year ago on my seventh birtday when my brother got the switch online memrbe ship. i could not get pas teh first level. after my dad helped me to the big tree i died over 8 times to THOSE STUPIT PLANTS. this game is so confusing. not only isFirst of alll as a gamer this game is very disappointing.     I never saw the appeal of this game. A Link to the Past was far superior in my opinion. Z-Targeting was a good concept but poorly executed, a lot of the issues I have with the game are simply products of 3d being a new concept in '98. An important game in gaming history, but it has aged poorly and some of the poor design choice are highlighted because of it.

    Played this back in 1999, bought into all the hype. Color me bored. Fun lasted all about one day, then things got really repetitive, I hated learning to playing the songs, dealing with cartoonish characters, and unexciting action.

Es que miren una cosa es que el juego haya tenido unos grandes gráficos y otra que sea una completa revolución para la narrativa, los personajes la historia, de eso Ocarina no tiene nada, solo un poco de merito de los gráficos, pero si mario 64 ya lo habia hecho perfecto.     OOT is simply not at the level of exploration and freedom as many other 3d-Games on the Tier-list of the greatest games of all times are… Moreover the movement abilities are very limited… the Dungeons inside the game are everything but funny, they are time consuming and in my opinion just a way to make this pretty short game feel a bit longer… The story is a little bit weird and confusingOOT is simply not at the level of exploration and freedom as many other 3d-Games on the Tier-list of the greatest games of all times are… Moreover the movement abilities are very limited… the Dungeons inside the game are everything but funny, they are time consuming and in my opinion just a way to make this pretty short game feel a bit longer… The story is a little bit weird and confusing because it feels like the programmers changed their mind about what the games story should be mid to end-Development.     Lots of Zelda fans claim Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda, if not the best game of all time, I strongly disagree, I played up until the Fire Temple and I just couldn't finish, the game itself was boring and the world ws empty, the only places that were there were places you needed to be for the main storyline, the game lacked in charm and felt dull and bland. Well... in 2020 I can't give it more than 4/10 (not counting graphics!). if you take graphics to account this shouldn't be more than 2/10 game.     I was very disappointed by this game, as it didn't live up to the high standard set by its predecessors. I completed my first run of the game the day I got it to 100% completion, and found it to have very little replay value. The combat is mostly waiting for openings to be able to damage your foes which isn't real difficulty, it just feels like difficulty.     While it was really Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link that introduced most of Ocarina of Time's issues to the series, it was Ocarina of Time that really cemented them into the future installments, making them all part of the regular formula, which knocks my review of this game down much further.

    It's a fun enough few hours, but you're better off getting a much better game in the series, like Link to the Past, Breath of the Wild, the original NES Zelda, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, Link's Awakening, or the Oracle games (as one connected game; they don't hold up as well separately.) Any of those will give you more fun for a longer time, more world to explore, and better dungeon puzzles to solve.

    Even Zelda 2 at least makes more use of vertical space. With VERY few exceptions (one Deku Tree puzzle and the Water Temple), Ocarina of Time's puzzles are very 2D. Even Link to the Past used height for more of its puzzles than this game did. The graphics might be more 3D, but the gameplay is not.    … Expand

    I really found this game to be one of the more disappointing games in the Legend Of Zelda Series. I found the dungeons very repetitive and the story lacked in plot twist and there was no character development at all.
    The graphics have not improved at all and the enemy's do not get harder as the games go on.
    overall i found Ocarina of Time to be a massive disappoint,

    At a point in time I did enjoy this game however nowadays it's dated, has repetitive gameplay, and lackluster story. It does not hold up against the test of time unless you have nostalgia goggles on. I don't recommend unless you are a die hard zelda fan or wanting to complete games off of Nintendos catalog you'll have a better time with breathe of the wild.

    Not as great as I'd hoped but not too bad either. DEFINITELY use a guide because the game is not friendly to modern players. It can be very frustrating at times, definitely play it with save states if possible.

I don't think that this game is complete garbage but I am sure that this game could've been way better if only they took more time to make it, making it a bit more intuitive and also creating dungeons that aren't only going toOverrated way too much. Again, this game is definetly overrated and it annoies me that this is the highest rated game on this site.… Expand

    The original Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time marked a defining point in Nintendo's history. With its great anticipation, people were anxiously waiting to dive in what appeared to be the greatest game of all time. Indeed it was amazing. Great experience overall.

MOM GET ME THIS. she got me it then. the cutscene was ok but i took me a hour to get 30 rupees for a shield. i went to the tree and i tried to set the thing on fire but it was litterally impossible. it also has a game breaking glitch whereI am gonna be honest. i thought this game was TERRIBLE.     The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 64 is one of the most overhyped games in existence, its got bland gameplay. Absolutely terrible combat mechanics and runs at a staggering twenty frames per second (16 in PAL regions)

    I played it for the first time last year and was shocked by how bad the graphics were. Seriousl, games released in 2008 have better graphics and effects than this garbage. Not to mention the gameplay is boring and unoirinal. I got about 30 minutes in before quitting. It's so hard because the controls suck. 0/10.

    The dungeons were very repetitive and always reused the same puzzle elements, like blocks, torches, switches, ect. The items were rarely used outside of dungeons, like the magic hammer and mirror shield. Also, the game is a dungeon grind: you get the hookshot, then go straight to Forest Temple. Go to Goron City, speak to the child Goron, and go directly to Fire.     Mas jogando agora ocarina of time simplesmente não envelheceu bem nem em gráficos nem em quase nenhuma outra questão, o level design das dungeons é horrível, confusas e frustrantes, meu exemplo favorito é no poço onde quem tava construindo a dungeon teve um derrame cerebral, e resolveu que o poço estaria recheado de buracos invisíveis no chão que te levam pro mesmo lugar com nada de interessante pra fazer lá além de levar um seculo pra sair de lá, E ACREDITE, VOCÊ VAI CAIR NESSE BURACO MUITAS VEZES, mesmo com lens of truth, que revela onde esses buracos estão escondidos, você não vão estar com a lupa ativada o tempo todo, até porque ela gasta magia, e ainda vai cair muito nessa porra, não é divertido ou desafiador, é simplesmente entediante, e o jogo está cheio de coisas como essa.

    além disso, o mundo em si é vazio, com poucas coisas para se fazer, literalmente a primeira coisa que você vê quando sai da floresta é um campo enorme e vazio sem praticamente nenhum uso, e é lento e entediante passar por ele.

    a história é média, é incrível como as pessoas pintam ela como se fosse algo incrível, mas no geral ela lenta e entediante, e sim, é legal ver o futuro das pessoas que você conheceu no passado, mas isso não sustenta a história, que na maioria do tempo é só uma desculpa pro jogo existir

    aliás, lento e entediante, isso é o que define esse jogo pra mim, é simplesmente chato, sinceramente, eu não estaria tão puto com ele se não fosse por tudo mundo colocar esse jogo em um pedestal, e pelo contrário, majora's mask é um exemplo de como fazer um bom zelda.

    o mundo é vivo e cheio de coisas, principalmente clock town, e todos os habitantes tem seu próprio ciclo de dia e noite, tem rotinas, e suas próprias vidas, o que é impressionante até pra um jogo atual, a história a de oot, a mecânica de 3 dias é genial, pois sempre te mantém alerta e dá ainda mais vida ao mundo, as dungeons, são em gerais mais criativas, mesmo que tenha seus momentos ruins, e a história dos personagens te deixa intrigado e motivado a acabar elas, e o principal, o fluxo do jogo é mil vezes melhor que o de oot, enquanto oot parece se arrastar com tantas dungeons, majora's mask tem apenas 4 dungeons, e isso é bom pra mim, até porque ele tem quase o mesmo tempo do oot, ele não parece se arrastar e tudo corre muito mais suavemente, é melhor amarrado, e sim isso do nada virou uma análise de outro jogo, foda-se.

    em geral, eu ainda não consigo acreditar que oot é tão superestimado e muitas vezes considerado melhor que majora's, então eu criei uma conta no metacritic só pra expressar minha raiva, obrigado.    … Expand

But when you look at it from a quality standpoint, it's not that great. For one, it's ugly, even for the time. The environments and bland and usually boring. The controls also suffer from being terrible. Most of the dungeons are tedious and boring, with the Water Temple being the worst. The only thing I really enjoy about this game is the time travel mechanic, but it felt to much like A Link To The Past, the greatest Legend Of Zelda game. I always come back to this game after a while to see if my opinion has changed, but it never seems too. Some times it pains me to see how blind people are when it comes to games like this and the N64 its self. But I guess you can't change opinions that have been set in stone.… Expand

Zelda is my second favorite game series, other than hollow knight. I can see the importance of this game, as it was the first 3d Zelda, but nowadays, there are just so many better Zelda games.     Zelda Ocarina of Time, despite its revered status, left me thoroughly unimpressed. The game's slow pacing and lack of variety made it a tedious experience. The convoluted storyline failed to engage me, and I struggled to understand the widespread adoration for this title. Regrettably, I must assign it a disappointing rating of 0 out of 10.

    I'm already seeing needless back tracking, there's a guy sleeping in my way and apparently I can't wake him with a slingshot.
    I can observe a full day go by and he doesn't wake up, I have to go back to the start of a zone with no puzzles or enemies just to pick up an item to wake him you don't ever get to use this item again I can only    these were my notes as I was playing this game:

    context sensitive button prompts suck my ass, it slows the game down and it's frustrating when you walk up to something you want to push and end up climbing it or jumping at it or something
    pushing a block on a grid is not something you should have to take care to do, it's not as tho this game has intelligent puzzles
    there's nothing contemplative about the extra 1 second it takes to completely halt your character and slightly realign yourself to get the correct prompt to show up

    dialogue speed is awful
    you either skip the entire conversation or you're forced to read at the pace of someone with a severe learning disorder
    it's even worse beacuse you're forced through conversations with an owl who tells you what to do because this game would be too directionless otherwise I guess
    and then navi tells you what to do anyway
    WHYYY
    the **** owl will even show up to give you tutorials on things that you already know how to do and have already done and the only way you can avoid it is using speedrunning tactics

    the stealth section is the same thing 4 times in a row, a rectangle with 2 guards walking around it

    sometimes the spot you have to stand in to do something is so ridiculously precise I thought more than once I just didn't have some key item yet or something but NOPE
    you can't just be standing on the tree stump with your ocarina out, you have to be standing in THIS EXACT SPOT on the tree stump with your ocarina out
    I had similar issues like this over and over

    in jabu jabu's belly it's one thing to constantly be admonished by the stupid zora child for leaving her alone, it's kind of funny and even tho it's irritating it characterizes her
    it's another thing entirely to "solve a puzzle" and then have navi tell you that you "solved a puzzle" and tell you what the outcomes are and totally slow the game down for no reason
    generally dungeons are just poorly designed and boring, they would all be better if they were linear
    because as it stands all that you do is walk down a corridor, find you can't proceed, backtrack, repeat until you find the place you're supposed to be
    there's nothing interesting about it, you're not exploring, you're not solving a puzzle, you're just walking in circles

    you can get an area of effect spell from a faerie and you get maybe 4 uses of it before you're out of mana so you might want to use it sparingly
    but as it turns out it's never **** useful anyway
    mini game where you have to light some torches? using your magic fire won't solve it, no feeling clever for you
    enemy that's 50% underground and can't be hit by your sword til it's out?
    fire won't hit it either, you just gotta lure it out and hit it with your boomerang
    it's not the worst to have items of your kit that you don't use but it's indicative of how bad the designers were at putting these ideas together

    combat is dull and z targetting doesn't even function properly, it sort of locks you in the direction you're already facing and sort of locks on to a target but only if they barely move and are very close

    "if you let me go I'll sell this to you for 50 rupees"

    After years of being told this was the best game ever, I decided to play it and realized it was just a generic game with an industrial story. It looks like a game for kids, and that's fine, but it's far from a good game, it's not even in the all-time TOP200. The game is all about solving children's puzzles. If you like it, be happy. Children need to have fun.

    I never liked Zelda. I tried hard but it's just so linear and boring. I tried many times liking it but i never understood what people liked in this game. It feels to me like a game made for a 5years old.
