After all, Call of Duty was one of our favorite games of last year. We were worried that developer Gray Matter Studios, the folks behind Return to Castle Wolfenstein, would be content with delivering a generic run-and-gun shooter with the Call of Duty name slapped on the side of the box. Nothing could be further from the truth. United Offensive is fantastic. The drought of EyeToy compatible games is slowly turning into a trickle, if not a flood, just in time for the 2004 holiday season. Yet while titles like Sega SuperStars and NickToons Movin’ follow the same basic blueprint of EyeToy: Play, offering an assortment of fun-but-short minigames, Sony has been slow to embrace its peeping peripheral with a real game. AntiGrav finally changes this trend. It's a hoverboarding title that is part SSX and part Back to the Future II. Though skateboarding titles and their ollie-based offshoots are hardly original, AntiGrav’s approach to the genre will surely turn heads -- literally. NBA Live 2005 is another impressive basketball effort from EA that improves upon its predecessor’s controls, visuals, and AI. It’s obvious that EA has been feeling Sega’s squeaky sneakers nipping at its heels, and would like nothing more than to beat the publisher by giving it the finger…roll into the bucket for the win. The heated competition between the two companies has raised the level of play for both franchises, but the ultimate winner has been the fans. From a realism standpoint, the NBA 2K series is still the team to beat, but NBA Live 2005 addresses many of the issues that have held the franchise back like the headband holding Carmelo Anthony’s do.Silver screen bad boys Will Smith and Martin Lawrence may be on the cover, but you won’t find them in this game. You will, however, find two celebrity impersonators who are also quite bad -- in their own special way. But like this game, "as bad as they wanna be" is probably worse than you’d like. X-Play hits the streets of Miami to brave a deadly barrage of bad jokes, bad graphics, and god awful shooting action.Tune in tonight! Expand
