Def Jam Fight For NYOn tonight's X-Play, we review Def Jam Fight For NY. Now, Def Jam Vendetta was a breath of fresh air in the realm of wrestling video games. It took the Aki wrestling engine, and instead of pitting masked luchadors against each other, brought in icons from the world of hip-hop, such as Keith Murray, Ludacris, and DMX. Def Jam Fight For NY takes the ideas introduced in Vendetta and goes a step further, virtually eliminating any notion of this being a wrestling game, and tweaking the gameplay mechanics closer towards a street fighting, no-holds-barred type slugfest. Let's see if it worth fighting for. The Total War series has always been something of a critical darling. The tense, real-time battles with thousands of troops married to a grand strategic campaign are enough to keep armchair generals up all night. But previous iterations of the series have had a fair share of issues. Oblique strategic rules, a confounding interface, and a punishing campaign probably held more than a few players at bay. If you're one of those players still on the fence concerning Total War, listen very carefully. Rome: Total War is the most epic, accessible, engrossing, soul-consuming real-time strategy game we've played this year."Henshin a go-go, baby!" That's the battle cry which launched a thousand animated assaults. And, of course, the surreal, yet shockingly informative one-line summation which catapulted last year's Viewtiful Joe to bona fide sleeper hit status. Following a port of the original adventure for the PlayStation 2, Capcom is quickly delivering a proper sequel. Given a crack at a beta build, we couldn't resist diving in and dredging up as much info as possible on the holiday season's most stylish side-scroller. It's time for X-Play to play that funky music one more time, with the latest installment in the Dance Dance Revolution series. Dubbed Dance Dance Revolution Extreme, likely because "extreme" probably sounds better than "again," this is more of that familiar floor-stomping gameplay that we've all come to know and either love or fear. And this time, you can watch yourself looking stupid thanks to EyeToy support! After years of success on the comic racks, Marvel's band of mutants has finally made it big in theaters. But with very few exceptions, similar fortune in the gaming world has been harder to find than a mint copy of Giant-X-Men number one. But after a couple of years in development, Activision and Raven Software have created a sprawling game that gives fans characters and powers unlike any other licensed game. Is X-Men Legends the RPG that fans have been waiting for, or just Gauntlet with mutants?Tune in tonight! Expand
