No doubt hoping to keep those monthly fees pouring in, SquareEnix releases the second expansion, Chains of Promathia. For all five of you out there who played Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns, your prayers have been answered. Timegate Studios got the funding to make Kohan II: Age of Kings. Huzzah! Hey, we loved the first Kohan -- enough to give it 4 out of 5, anyway. It was an elegantly designed real-time strategy game that eschewed micromanagement in favor of good, old-fashioned tactics. Kohan II does several things better than its predecessor, but also does some things worse. The human mind is a miraculous instrument. Although most of us haven’t figured out how to tap into our latent psychic powers just yet, at least there are people out there with the mental powers required to make a video game about it. Second Sight is something of a psychic stealth adventure, and gives you an admirable number of ways to eliminate threats along a very decent (but completely preordained) path. For everyone who couldn’t psychically predict the good and bad about the game, open your brains to X-Play and receive our review. In Japan, you can't walk 10 feet in an arcade without bumping into a musical instrument peripheral. You've got guitar playing Sims, drum games, and turntable scratchers -- each with their own console equivalents. Back on our shores, the closest thing we've received was Dreamcast's Samba De Amigo. Despite (or because of) the glut, Namco is daringly releasing an iteration of its popular TAIKO series in the U.S. Unlike GameCube's addictive Donkey Konga -- also developed by Namco -- TAIKO Drum Master has no license to lean on. However, it does possess excellent gameplay and quirky Japanese personality. Plus, don't miss out on X-Play's console endurance test to see which console can withstand the most punishment.
