Of courseI was extremely hyped for this series just to be kicked down by Disney. Some of the acting in this show is unbelievably bad, the inquisitors are bland with bad costumes, and don’t even get me started on how insufferable reva is. Of course typical Disney pulls the racism card when people criticize their show. Obi wan’s character is also butchered and he’s made into a lil wuss. Overall disappointing show. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My expectations for Obi-Wan were very low to begin with, partly due to the trailers and partly due to past experience with Disney ‘Star Wars’ products. I wasn’t prepared for the amount of (additional) damage they were willing to inflict on the storylines of the original films. What I also can’t fathom is how scripts like the one for Obi-Wan get greenlit for production in the first place. How is it possible that a character has certain powers that they make use of and a few seconds later they lack access to those same powers? If there’s a battery that needs recharging, then kindly let us, the audience, know about it so that we can make sense of the story.

Whilst in the past I thought this was down to lazy/subpar writing, the cynic in me is starting to wonder whether there has been a deliberate assault on good story telling, beloved characters and psychological archetypes, not only in Star Wars but Star Trek too (and from what I hear from friends in the Marvel universe as well).

What is offensive is how any form of criticism is immediately put down to perceived misogyny, racism and other undesirable character traits on the part of the disgruntled viewer. If the customer doesn’t like the product, denigrate the customer! Not only is it disrespectful to fans, it seems to achieve nothing for true equality for humanity in everyday life. A lot of the heroes in stories in my life have, for example, been female, but none of them were given their hero status by obscure deus ex machina manipulation, they naturally commanded that respect because of good, congruent story writing. That said, I don’t envy the actors – even the best performer can do very little with pedestrian dialogue of the kind that dominates Obi-Wan Kenobi. PS: Interesting that yesterday the average score was hovering around 3.4-3.8 and today it’s skyrocketed up to 7.2 within a short period of time, and mostly from users with no previous reviews to their credit giving 10/10 glowing reviews of the “everything is awesome/greatest show ever” type!?! The Force seems strong with the Clone armies.

Update after episode 6: soulful eye acting by Ewan + liked the split mask Vader/Anakin scene, but unfortunately it doesn't change the problem with the script and the disregard for the original films

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was really looking forward to this since it was announced. I watched both episode 1 and 2 eagerly and optimistically. Unfortunately, the pacing was dreadful, the characters silly, one-dimensional, and simplistic. I am a big fan of the character of Princess Leia as portrayed by Carrie Fisher but this iteration of the character was ridiculous. She acted like a 50 year old grizzled woman and it was simply unbelievable in an eight year old or whatever she's supposed to be. We get it, Leia's strong and smart, but this was so poorly done that I almost couldn't watch it. The kid was an absurd Mary Sue type, telling all the adults what's what, being insanely brave, smarter than any adult, etc. Just give me a break. Expand

The 5th brother looks like a cartoon caricature. The third sister, who is the real star of the show along side toddler leia, is underwhelming as a Star Wars vilain. They try so hard to prop her up that it makes the whole show unwatchable for me. The chase scene also has to go down in history as the worst meant-to-be-serious scene in a big budget production. The story is so contrived and unimaginative. The writers and producers seemingly have no respect at all for the Star Wars franchise, and instead of giving us a good story, they used the opportunity to emasculate another Star Wars hero and deliver another social justice message just like Disney did in the sequel trilogy. And what's with the complete lack of anything even resembling a soundtrack? It's like they just forgot how important the music of Star Wars is supposed to be. The entire thing is utterly abysmal. Apparently, Jar Jar Kennedy is utterly incapable of making a good film or show without Jon Favreau at the helm. Help me Jon Favreau. You're my only hope. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The show started OK, but as it progressed, especially into episode 3, it started deteriorating into total nonsense with many logical flaws and childish acts, Obi becoming extremely weak, dumb, afraid of everything, unable to do anything right, unable to fight, or even stand straight. People passing each other in a tunnel without seeing each other was just totally absurd. I expected some inconsistencies and dumbed-down stories, but this show is totally below any Star Wars standards, and cringeworthy. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… There was once a wise Jedi Knight named Obi-Wan Kenobi, who disappeared into the sands of time on the planet of Tatooine. The protagonist in this show is not that character, despite sharing the same name. This imposter lacks the cunning cleverness of his predecessor and, in that place, is complete hollowness, which has led to some of the most dumbfounding things I’ve seen any character commit in the Star Wars universe.
I mean this is Obi-Wan Kenobi… Everything you loved about the character has been sadly stripped away. He’s not even a shadow of his former self; he’s been remoulded to the point of becoming practically unrecognisable — if not for Ewan McGregor returning, you would not believe it was the same person as the one you saw in the prequel trilogy. Sure, there’s an excuse based on what the character has gone through over the years — he’s on a downer, but this is more like witnessing a bone-shattering nosedive into concrete; there’s no joy in such a spectacle. Three episodes in from the promising pilot, and I haven’t seen an ounce of character development.
Characters are only as brilliant as their writers, so I’m confidently certain Mensa won’t be sending the writers for this show invitations for their “smart” decisions anytime soon.

As for the show itself, I’m sorry to admit, most of all to myself as a massive Star Wars worshipper, that it is a complete and utter letdown. The storyline is uninspired, the actions scenes are underwhelming, the writing is baffling, the direction is unspectacular, the characters are all one-note, and that scene involving Obi-Wan and Vader reuniting produced the most generic dialogue imaginable, words you can hear in a thousand other movies and shows. That was shameful. I could go on and into more detail about the negatives, but what’s the point of it for a pointless show? Positives? Yeah, there is. James Earl Jones still sounds tremendous and menacing as Vader. It’s just too bad the dialogue he’s reading is as bland as a dead Jawa.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to like this show, but I can't. It is glorified fan fiction. There is no respect for canon, or continuity. No respect for the characters, and events. The writer is just doing what ever he wants, and whatever he thinks is "Cool" even if it makes no sense. For instance, **SPOILERS BELOW**

>Obi-wan not knowing Vader is alive? Vader is famous, he has been active for 10 years as the enforcer for the emperor. Obi-wan knows Vader is Anakin, yet was shocked at finding this out. >Reva knows Anakin is Vader, even though this is a guarded secret, and she would be executed for this.
>The villains are where ever they need to be, even if that means that space and distance no longer works.
>Obi-wan can't really use the force, or fight with a lightsaber. The excuse is that he is sad and rusty, but given that his life's purpose is to protect and train Luke, and commune with Qui-gon, he would stay in fighting condition. He didn't even use a lightsaber stance in his first fight with Vader. I recognize the stances. Vader entered Makashi, And obi-wan didn't even enter Soresu.
>Episode 4, Leia is captured (cause teleporting Reva) and taken to secret Inquisitorious base, but somehow the good guys know where the base is, and just waltz in? The space is a secret from even the majority of the Empire. >Lots of contrived plot points, like Reva going to Kill Leia because she is convinced Leia (who Reva had kidnapped because reasons she shouldn't know) knows about the jedi smuggling paths? But at the same time puts a tracker in Leia's droid because is knows she is going to be rescued? I'm sorry?
>The vader and Obi-wan fight was just stupid. Vader can't walk through fire, or put it out, or walk around it? He can't use the force to pull an unconscious obi-wan? They shouldn't even be meeting or fighting.
>Oh, yeah. They kill the Grand inquisitor. The character that is still alive in Rebels 4-5 years later. He is also ridiculously incompetent, and used a prop to hold up Reva. I am waiting for the end credit scene on episode 6 where he isn't dead, cause they have to retcon it. I could go on... This story is a poorly made shirt. I pull on a loose thread and everything starts to unravel. It is fanfiction. High budget what if story. And I've read better writer stories on Wattpad.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best thing about this series is the acting is fairly solid all round. It's just a shame the writers gave them nothing to work with. Obi-Wan is reduced to a pathetic version of himself and abandons his only job in episode one, Leia has no character growth (it would have been nice to see how she becomes headstrong and grows into the awesome woman she becomes) and Reva's plan for revenge only works because everyone reacts precisely as they need to to make it happen. Don't even get me started on her motivation ... she's spent the last 10 years killing men women and children just to get close to Vader to revenge the killing of men women and children. The most apathetic writing of any Star Wars show to date. Such a shame. It has a few fan service moments which are nice to enjoy but it could have been so much more. Disney are just churning out content, it's not art anymore. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Few dumb things in this Disney "Star wars" series..

Obi wan was a wise man, but in this show, they make him look like an idiot.(and we all know why, spoilers: because he's a man, men are dumb and useless allright.. )

How did Reva know where Leia is? No explanation.. How did Reva know that Luke is Vader's son? No idea.. Also, Reva's plans make no sense in the show. Then there's 10 year old girl, Leia, outrunning grown men(because men are dumb and useless).. Vader kills Reva.. but she survives.. Vader kills Reva again.. but no, she survives miraculously again.. And, after years of murdering people, Reva "redeemes" herself in the end.. Well, actually one good deed doesn't erase countless bad ones.. but hey this is Disney "star wars" and women can do no wrong..

Convenience is the word here folks..

Anyway, the plot is terrible, that's all you need to know..

I WOULD LOVE FOR ELON MUSK TO DO A BOT AUDIT ON ALL THESE STAR WARS REVIEWS. IVE BEEN REVIEWING TV AND MOVIES FOR 30 Yrs+ this....is ...low.... quality ..tv....and ....low.. quality.....sci-fi....and everyone knows it!

I canceled my Disney Subscription after this. Here are ten reasons why;

*Minus one star for horribly directed, acted scenes all involving Leia.

*Minus one star for just highlighting and putting down Obi Wans age which represents more than half the audience. *Minus one for wardrobes, I mean I liked the inquisitor scenes, but this is Disney I would expect a bit more. Very laughable in a bad way.

*Minus one star for CGI. Reminded me of low quality Sci-Fi channel TV and they have way less funding.

*Minus one star for music. Just wasn't unique and didn't stand out. They should have taken a bigger risk here with music. Music is a huge part of Star Wars, again I feel like no effort was made. It sounded too similar to Mandalorian and this is a completely different thing; story, planets, the force, lightsaber emphasis. Music should take its own path here.

*Minus one star because the script was rushed and jumped around horribly. This is so bad I want to take off two stars. THE LAST THING MODERN DAY BINGE TV SHOULD HAVE IS A RUSHED SCRIPT. ITS TV YOU HAVE SO MUCH TIME.. *Minus one for horrible batman-esk action scenes. Not necessary. This is laughable.

*Minus one for using "spice". This Dune rip off a doesn't even transcend multiverse because they treat it like it has more ...well it's just idiotic. Leave the Dune script alone and leave stupid drugs out of Kenobi. They were never in the prequels etc. Just lame.

Remember the borg hipster scooter gang chase in Boba Fett? Now project it on a whole series. Thats Obi-Wan.
Atrocious, to put it mildly.
Most of the actors are completely talentless and make you cringe every moment of the show. Ewan McGregor looks like a superhuman, compared to them.
But also the directors and other crew seem to not know what they are doing at all.
The story has many gaping plotholes and doesnt fit in the established Star Wars universe at all. Its so obvious that you are only reminded of B-movies from the 50s that didnt bother with logic or continuity.
The casting is horrible and obviously a lot of wokeism and nepotism was involved in it.

The whole show feels very cheaply produced in general, so much that often you think its just a fan project. It often feels like a cheap scifi series from the 90s. Remember Lexx. Not anything like Star Wars.
Disney has obviously decided that quantity is better than quality.
The massive and very unusual amount of positive reviews here are very telling as well. I know nobody who likes it. Yet most "people" here voted 9 and 10? Yeah right.

This has been the yet another disappointment by Disney. But this is all we can expect from them at this point.

The writing of the show is terrible, so far in the first 3 episodes alone it breaks canon multiple times. Obi Wan has been emasculated to the surprise of no one.
And in typical Disney fashion the show is actually a bait and switch. Using a BELOVED character that the fans wanted to see for years, only to emasculate them and treat them like garbage only to promote their new characters like the character of Riva, which is a terribly written and acted character, that should have no place in the show and more importantly, should not know the things she knows.

But who can even be surprised by Disney at this point. The whole point of Riva is to generate clicks by SJW's on twitter (SJW's that don't even watch your products or pay for them Disney)

And make no mistake, Disney is trying to spin the narrative that the fans are outraged by gender and skin color, but the truth is that 99.9% of the fans have no issues with skin color or gender, they have issue with badly written and acted characters that are shoved in the shows only to tick boxes.

We loved Lando Calrissian, we loved Mace Windu and so many others like Moff Gideon, James Earl Jones is the voice of Darth Vader for crying out loud, the most important character in the franchise. Yet in recent interviews Disney and the actress of Riva - Moses Ingram tries to claim that she is the first person of color in Star Wars. That and the numerous breaking of the canon, paint the picture many of us know to be true for years, that Disney does not care for the IP, does not know the IP, the people they hire have not done their research regarding the characters and the universe they are portraying. Their only goal and purpose is to push their agendas using the corpse of Star Wars as a platform.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disney you ruined everything again. You spoil everything by touching the last 10 years - it's just a limitation. I've been waiting for Obi-Wan Kenobi for more moments of rumors about a serial series, hoping for an interesting plot, a story about a fan favorite character in the Star Wars universe.
What did Star Wars fans get in the end:
1. Agenda. This is perhaps the biggest reason why Disney is ruining all the franchises (Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney).
In Obi-Wan Kenobi, this manifested itself in the appointment of a woman to the post of showrunner of the series, who did not make a single big-budget film in her entire life, but only filmed serials for several episodes. Before joining the Disney series, she had no idea what Star Wars was, this is for sure a complete copy of Ryan Johnson, and she also likes to shove herself in the form of all sorts of cameos in her series. Most of the other executive producers are also women, who got into the world of Star Wars only after Disney bought LucasArts, and had nothing to do with fantastic universes.
Our esteemed screenwriter is of Iranian descent and is also on the agenda to discriminate against white men in the film and TV industry. A person who also has no merit, experience in fantasy films or big budget films (which is important), writes the script for our series. From here we have stupid dialogues that litter screen time, meaningless, inexplicable actions (Obi Wan running from Darth Vader - Tom and Jerry), interrogating a little girl with an addiction, and so on.
2. Plot holes. The incoherent plot of the film, which innapropriate into any star wars film (as well as the new mediocre horror trilogy with Rey and Kylo-ren, which created an unrealistic amount of discrepancies, here you can also add the Boba Fett series, in which Boba Fett from professional mercenary turned into a kind grandfather with a stick).
3. New characters and new actors - Disney loves it. Introduce a ton of new characters (mostly black by origin). An example is our villainess in the film, whose name no one remembers, and rightly so. She has no motivation, we do not know who she is, absolutely nothing is known about her, she falls like snow in July, no one was waiting for her, and no one needs her. If she is several ranks lower than the grand inquisitor, how does she manage to kill him, despite the fact that he, logically, should be very strong (Rebels). What kind of incomprehensible acting game, better black actresses have not been found?

That's not all, but I don't want to continue further, because the list will be too long, talking about the shortcomings of this series. This is not an Obi-Wan series, this is an Obi-Wan fanfiction and, unfortunately, with actors from the second golden trilogy.

Star Wars fans, be patient and may the strength be with us to endure the sordid rape of our beloved Star Wars universe.

Annoying Leia, stupid slow and badly choreographed chase scene on par with the ugly power rangers chase scene from BoBF, stupid kenobi who can't walk around a laser fence, coward kenobi running away from vader, stupid stormtroopers who can't see where a laser was shot from, at night (which is pretty evident), stupid stormtroopers and vader who can't go around some fire, bad location for the battle between vader and obi wan (really anti-climactic)...the list goes on and on Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 3 episodes in, and there are so many plot holes. But for the low hanging fruit first. Three bandits can't chase a 10th at old down? Dearth Vader can force grab ObiWan but can cross the fire or grab him again before the droid drags him from the flames??? "How old are you?"-Ben to Leia, seriously??? You've been watching Luke for 10 years, they're twins.

CGI can't make up for the lackluster settings, I'd rather watch the prequels, this is bad. Dialogue is worse than a preteens diary.

I want to like this, I really do. I like Ewan McGregor, and seeing Darth Vader again, but this is garbage.

Don't think the show is good because of the positive reviews. Disney bots and reylos brigaded to positive review this.

I grew up with the prequels and I seen Revenge of the Sith in the movie theater. They don't care about Star Wars they care about using Star Wars as a platform to push their woke characters. Inquisitors is a made-up storyline by some woke writer. It doesn't line up with what happened in Revenge of the Sith. The woke writers just came up with the Inquisitor storyline so they could push their woke characters. This is a bad trend in Hollywood because we've seen it a lot with other franchises like Marvel. I'm not racist I have no problem with black characters or black female characters. But I have a problem with the Inquisitor storyline and them using the Obi-Wan Kenobi show to push this black female character cus the show shouldn't be about her. Make your own show about her instead and don't connect it to the prequels. Literally they're saying they don't care about fans that grow up with the prequels cus we are like 30-40 or older now. So if you don't care about what older fans think of Star Wars then why are you making shows involving the characters we grew up with? If you want to make Star Wars for new fans then make stories that have nothing to do with the prequels or the original trilogy. You could have just brought back Mace Windu and said that Yoda rescued him on a anti-gravity craft and gave him a mechanical arm and then had him meet up with Obi-Wan or something. I mean that would be more believable than this woke storyline with this female character that just so happens to be black. I mean I'm sorry guys but this is just completely ridiculous and I'm totally done with Star Wars. I've been done with Star Wars and I seen this coming when I read about it before the show even came out. Kathleen is still in charge and until Star Wars has new leadership that's not woke I will never watch another Star Wars show or movie. If you don't see and understand what's going on with Hollywood dividing us with race then you're not paying attention. This is Illuminati dividing and conquering us politicizing our entertainment. The 'star' of the show - who isn't even Obi-Wan Kenobi, despite the show's miss-name even falsely claimed that she was the first person of color in Star Wars. Apparently people like Darth Vader, Lando Calrisian, and Finn are now white actors? The show has done nothing but show it's true colors from day one - that they mean to bludgeon a trash-tier 'inquisitor' wannabie into some kind of positive role. I'd expect this tripe from the CW, not Lucasfilm/Disney. Expand

All these 10/10s are bots. People don't want your woke garbage Disney and it doesn't matter how many bots you use it won't change that fact. This show isn't Star Wars it's Disney Star Wars. This show had a user score of 3 before your bots showed up. You think people are dumb? The only dumb people are the ones running Star Wars right now. Expand

They made obi wan a coward, like what the fck? I wouldn't recommend this, it doesn't stick to the original story.

Another nail in the coffin to the Star Wars universe. Disney once again shove unwanted radical woke politics where it isn't needed nor wanted - 0 stars

Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made.

It's supposed to be about Obi-Wan and it's not. Show doesn't deserve anything but a 0.
