The deconstruction of another hero to a weak, whiny, frightened, and faithless Obi Wan by Disney is criminal (as they did to Luke in the last trilogy). At best, Disney is taking poorly executed artistic license to add humanity to a Jedi and at worst, their ideology is driving their destruction of characters that don’t fit well with CRT. Unfortunately, I suspect the latter. Expand

Did Disney really think we are stupid?

The Series is full of stupid ideas, first that obi-wan is a compleet loser. He is a space monk, based on buddist monks and knights/paladins of fantasy genre. Why disney want every jedi to break to looser. They are monks, they are indoctrinated and even if they do not want to fight, they do not stop in there believe or training routine. Then the black woman controversy, that is make up by disney! Did disney really think they have a problem with a black woman in a show? No! They have problems with a character that gets more focus in her story, as the main protagonist. She is smarter is the hero, she is stronger as the hero, what make her the HERO. But that show is namend "Obi-wan Kenobi" not the "new character introduction Show".

Then all the stupid things, like the tollstation with the laser fance, laughtable because the writer is so stupid to add such a scene. Then the base infiltration, stolen out of a video game, the underwatertunnel is the same, stolen out of a video game. The exit from the base, a military base, everybody act like they never have ever heared of military routines. Like when the base alarm go on, everybody go on battle stations and the tie fighter start to patrole. No, they wander arround like chickens. But the worst of this series is, that they ruin not only obi-wan, they ruin darth vader to. Both act not like they would act after all the movies, series and book, and i don't even take on the "legend" material. Who they get mostly the best jedi ever trained "obi wan" and make him a looser, than he make his padawan who is now "darth vader" to an reatard. He is in a fire proven body armor and stops on the fire, he do not sent a squard of tiefighters and bombers to a base blockade... he even stops to kill his underling. He is not a guy who stops, he is full of anger, he can't really control if he is in rage and he will destroy everything in his path. he is a juggernaunt... he don't stop! But no disney make him a retard who gets braindeath... when something is not as he plan. Oh you have a tracker... braindeath, restart, let the woman go and say "good". Sorry disney, you don't understand starwars. Its a simple hero story, where the hero is the hero and the bad guy the bad guys. They make a smart and simple hero tale, to a mess like "lost", with stupid ideas.

How the **** does the 3rd sister know Anikin is Darth Vader Now the story is a slogfest nothing happens its so slow and boring that nothing happens and they try to force tension with the bounty hunters trying to chase Leia it is the most pathetic thing I have seen in film, yeah a 10-year-old girl can outrun an adult get out of here
Now Moses Ingram is not a good actor being angry is not a role and it's not racist whats racist is shrinking John Boyega for china and making him look like a clown instead of making his character compelling to watch now us calling out **** acting has nothing to do with skin color Disney is trying to weaponize fake racism to block criticism is a big red flag to how **** the show is Star Wars is officially dead the only good thing left is the original 6 movies and the videogames

I don't know why the writers thought it was a good idea to portray obi wan as a complete idiot, to have reva played by someone who can't act to save their lives and to have so many plot holes in the story that it's nigh on unwatchable. Where to start easily one of my favourite characters and actors has been misfired straight in a whale sized dissapointment of one of my most anticipated series ever.

The show has been curated for children in what I and another's describe as a nickelodeon show. Lots of the show several scenes now involves the cringest chase scenes of a small 7 year old girl out running fully grown men through a forest then followed by a city. I realised this show was for children when disney introduced another "adorable droid" which made me realise that disneys fore front mind was monetisation they can sell toys of the droid. It seems disneys made agenda is to squeeze dollars however and wherever possible and making a good tense, thrilling series an afterthought. They've even introduced non cannon characters also as a villian, reeva a sith inquisitor who happens to be black into the show. I have no problem with black actors and actresses as i hope we get a mace windu series and lando, big fan of Carl weather's also in mando but this acting is horrendous and she shouts much of her way through the series. Honestly the tone is much to light for a dark time where jedi are being hunted down and murdered on the spot without trial in summary execution much like the gestapo did with the Jews. Disney have really wronged the fans here massively and the obi wan character for what was a show much long in the pipeline. I feel like I can no longer deny it disney has political agenda here and clearly as woke as it comes.

I'm more than happy for disney to start doing series with female leads, people of diverse backgrounds in original story's or characters already known. But its a obi wan show make it about him and respect that original star wars fans are not idiots and the show should be accessible for them. The reviews say it all and I'm not the only one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was just terrible and boring. Horribly writing. They don’t understand the force or Jedi. The entire story was obi wan running away. It just sucks how Disney doesn’t understand star wars at all. Beyond that, the directing and editing was just bad. The action and light saber fights sucked. The light saber fights were in pitch black to hide that fact that the sequences were lazy. I wouldn’t recommend. Expand

Having been disappointed by pretty much all Star wars related content (movies/TV) that Disney has released so far. It’s fair to say that my initial expectations for this being any good were pretty low.

I tried to give it a fair chance, but this series slaps you in the face almost from the very beginning, not only with poor Star Wars content, but in general with poor filmmaking. Inconsistent and poorly developed characters with as much depth as we are used to from Disney Star Wars characters. Dialogues and story that makes close to no sense, to characters doing things that makes you wonder whether the director was even on the set the day of the shooting or whether they were just told to figure it out on their own.

Some scenes are so poorly executed that you don’t know if you should laugh or cry, to music not matching the setting, to poorly created scene props where you can almost guess what material they used in the production, to costumes and character designs of some of the alien creatures that you would think that these are costumes bought at the local store.

This has nothing to do with it being Star Wars, had it been any other tv series, it would get an equally bad review. But nonetheless it is Star Wars and nothing more to say than it is, amazing how Disney can get away with such low production value here in this franchise.

If you as a person love Star Wars and everything about it with little respect to the lore, I think one could enjoy it. But if you like the original characters and are tired of seeing them being butchered by Disney, I would recommend not watching it, I honestly think you would be better off.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is a shame what was done with the character. Watch the wise Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, general of the Clone Wars, member of the Jedi Council, master of the Chosen One and one of the mightiest Jedi to ever live reduced to an incompetent man who can't get anything done by himself, afraid of a wannabe Inquisitor and a few Stormtroopers, that needs guidance from a 10-year old, and worst of all, lost faith in the Force and in people (something a character like Obi-Wan would never, ever do) is downright painful. There is no justification to that "He spent years in the desert" is not good enough, by far. I don't know what the show writers have in mind, but it certainly isn't making good Star Wars and being respectful of the characters. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It doesn't feel like star wars to me. I'm no expert but he cinematography doesn't feel right for a star wars production. The Leia chase sequence, awful. At the beginning when they're looking for the Jedi and he starts running, one of the inquisitors just stands in front of him instead of trying to catch him. Reva is super anoying. The first encounter between obi wan and Darth Vader after mustafar felt lazy. Vader used the force to extinguish the fire but a few minutes later he couldn't do the same to catch obi wan??? Couldn't he force grab obi wan or the droid that was carrying him?

The only 2 scenes I loved were the order 66 sequence, which made me drop some tears of excitement and the 501st veteran scene, I hope there's more of the clones in the next episdoes. One last thing. Why did they give the whole series to one director? Why not do it like the mandalorian and the book of boba Fett? I was really looking forward to this series, I hope it gets better. May the force be with you.

Its cheap, crap, its a waste of time, it could just have not existed. It doesnt add anything. This filling in the gaps only worked with Clone Wars, it hasnt worked with rebels, Bobba Fett or Obi-Wan. Mando and Fett seems ok with a little bit of Luke thrown in but to make a series dedicated to the story of anakin, leia and Obi-Wan done in this way is poor. Its a story that has been told. Just leave it alone, its spoiling it now. Stay away from the Skywalker saga disney. Go in a new direction.

The direction and casting are godawful, scene blocking horrendous (i.e. the chase scenes in the forest & on rooftops, the laser-gate Kenobi and Leia could've just walked around). Nothing makes any sense: Obi Wan has no force skills left but intended to train Luke how exactly? Some bottom-of-the-barrel Jedi-rando can easily find Luke in the desert but Reva/Vader can't? Somehow Vader can't use the force through a wall of fire (he himself just lit) and just stands there like an idiot? Obi Wan just blurts out Leia's name (and the storm troopers just let it go, even though they're looking for a 10-year old named Leia?) The list is endless.

No one of Obi Wan high esteem and character would behave this poorly. He is a coward, weak, depressed, and down right of bad character. The story line is weak, and predictable. The feminist/minority agenda will be full-filled when The "third sister", who was forced to be bad, coverts to good to save old helpless Ben. Honestly, I had to create a meta account only because I feel like I must rate this series.

To myself: I‘m quite new in the Star Wars Universe. I started about 3 years ago, watched all movies several times, as well as Mando and Boba Fett and also Clone Wars. Just to clarify that I‘m not someone who saw the stuff as a kind an because of that thinks the stuff was better back then bacause as a child you don‘t pay much attention on stuff, which adults might find bad in a movie.

To the show: It‘s a dissapointment. On many levels: Scenes like the capture of Leia, or also the rescue of Obi Wan from Vader…. it‘s badly written as well as horribly choreographed. There is no love for detail at all. Many episodes feel like they were just a storyboard where certain things still have to be added in order to make sense. They have no idea where this story is going to, they come up with some checkpoints in the story and then they sketch the way between the checkpoints. You NEVER get that feeling when you watch for example episodes 4-6, or the Mandalorian.
Also the character of Reva is a disaster. They have no clue what they want from her, the want her just to be a worthy opponent, but they try her to be to mighty, they don‘t focus on her character development at all or anything like that.
It‘s sad because the character had a lot of potential.

Another thing that bothers me is the whole racism debate the show has inflamed again, especially because of Reva. Disney Star doesn‘t support diversity, it EXPLOITS it: They create new characters in order to get up with the diversity quota. Ok for me. BUT BE AWARE OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITY: When you don‘t take care of these chatacters, write bad stories which even destroy roles like Obi Wan or Luke Skywalker, of course angry fans will focus their frustration on the first thing they notice that has chanced and which „makes sense to them“.
Be it new roles, new actors/actresses or be it the new owner Disney.

In conclusion: Disney should be aware of its role it takes in the Star Wars and its Fandome. You cannot blame others for the mistakes you make. Even the unappropriate and racist comments againts the actors, they were triggered because Disney just don‘t care about what they are producing, as long as it will be produced.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Awful script and directing. Tons of plot holes and not sticking to canon. Recycled plots. Way to go Kennedy, you ruined one of my favorite characters. That long awaiting rematch? Laughable at how bad it was. Reva's character is weak, and Leia is beyond annoying. By far the worst of the Star Wars TV series. Listen to the fans, stick to the lore, and cast the proper people for the roles based on talent, not equity. Stop trying to "re-write" to fit into what Hollywood thinks we want to see. Expand

It's still Star Wars so the action is pretty good, the acting is decent (except for the main antagonist) but the plot/writing just make it hard to watch and not groan. I'm still going to finish the series, but I'll be sheading tears into my popcorn the whole time.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ leaves a never-ending feeling of cringe, yet somehow manages to keep one's interest in learning more about the Star Wars lore.

Upon first glance, the whole series appears tragically horrible and can only be viewed as a cheap parody. There are some exceptionally bad scenes, such as when two green monsters chase a girl in the second episode – it's embarrassing and stupid.

The portrayal of the inquisitors, specifically the white man with implants and the black woman, seems like something only a very young and impressionable mind or a diseased one could produce. It's difficult to imagine these roles being done worse or more stupidly. This bottom line signifies the bad state of the whole industry.

One can't help but ask themselves and the creators of this series, "How is it possible to do something like this with the Star Wars universe? Why does it even exist?" These questions repeat themselves, episode after episode, moment after moment on the screen.

Why is the end product of the film production company so bad? What caused them to create such a strange, very, very, very stupid, and cheap-looking movie? Why did they make it?

Did they do it just for money? Can't they find any other ways to feed their families? Or are they all sick with mental disorders and other mental health issues that prevent them from being objective and productive at work?

Who allowed these actors to play these roles? How did that happen? Who was reviewing the shooting? How come these main plane roles are so stupid and unprofessional?

The girl playing the dark inquisitor is overplaying her role with brutality in her voice, which is super cringe. The white hypnotizer, who looks like a Sith, is wack when trying to play the mesmerizer, like a stupid scammer similar to the one pretending to be a Jedi in the second episode.

The whole crew and all actors, as a whole, seem like that scammer. That is their collective image. If you could make a persona out of the whole production process and final result analysis, that would be it.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ is not a movie about the Jedi, and it cannot be considered a real Star Wars universe movie. It's a pure lore and fanfic product, not a genuine continuation or extension of the original Star Wars. It's merely made to play with the lore, use the atmosphere and some parts of the initial story as the environment to be in.

However, one can't help but question, who are these newcomers? Do they deserve to play with such a great universe? Perhaps only at Comic-Con but not in real life.

Why was this series even made? It seems like it was only created to make some money without any passion or care for the Star Wars franchise. The actors are only concerned about their salary and their own careers, with no real interest in the story. It's disappointing that no one seems to care about Star Wars anymore.

Although the series has some interesting details, characters, and events from the Star Wars universe, it ultimately feels more cringe than genuinely interesting. Unfortunately, this seems to be a trend in recent Hollywood, Marvel, Netflix, and Disney Plus series. The global culture influenced by American movies is lowering the standard for quality entertainment.

The 3D episode with the yellow door opening robot leaves an ambiguous impression, much like the series as a whole. The robot is well-designed, but lacks any real personality. The creators were too lazy to invest time into developing its character, which is disappointing compared to iconic robots like C3PO or R2D2 from the original movies.

The portrayal of Darth Vader in the third episode is more comical than terrifying, as if they were trying to create a meme rather than a serious movie. It's a missed opportunity to create something genuinely science fiction and futuristic in the Star Wars universe.

The main hero, Obi-Wan, is a disappointment. He lacks the wisdom and maturity that you would expect from someone with the name Obi-Wan Kenobi. Instead, he seems like an always-frightened man with a lot of doubts, which is not what viewers want to see. It's possible that the actor himself was unsure of his role and the whole project, which comes across in his performance.

The director and background scene makers may have felt proud of their work, but the overall result feels rough, fast, and brutal. It's as if they were more concerned with their own egos than creating a quality production.

In conclusion, this series feels like a missed opportunity to create something truly great in the Star Wars universe. Despite some interesting elements, it ultimately falls short of expectations.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

That's the plot Disney sends us on for the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series. True, it has everything that belongs to Star Wars: lightsabers, the Force, Jedi, Darth Vader and the sands of Tatooine. But a real "Star Wars feeling" still doesn't come up. The series lacks the right music and size in its production - everything is as small as possible. Kenobi is a broken hero when we see him again in the first episode. The old white man has resigned, and only in the course of the plot does he regain his strength. The producers don't take the canon too seriously: Luke and Kenobi already meet here and the flashbacks between Anakin and Kenobi are supposed to give more depth to the conflict between the two characters, but they seem rather ridiculous. We all know how it ends between Obi and Darth Vader and who defeats Darth Vader in the end, why try to build suspense here where there is none? Hayden Christensen is too old as a young Anakin and Ewan McGregor is too young as Kenobi, considering he's the age of Sir Alec Guinness in Episode IV... there's a lot wrong with that. In general, the acting leaves a lot to be desired, but Vivien Lyra Blair as Leia outplays everyone. The series seems as if the only intention was to attract more subscribers to Disney+ with the big name "Obi-Wan Kenobi". With the thin plot, the desperate attempt to fit into the big story arcs, and the struggling actors, success is doubtful. Obi is one of the great characters in the Star Wars universe, and he deserves a better series with a more innovative plot. "The Clone Wars" has told so many good stories around Obi - that's the benchmark. And the new series fails completely. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Completely undermines everything Lucas wrote for Star Wars by making Luke "not important", characters are written soo poorly that a rage filled dark side user doesn't have sith eyes or criminals couldn't even duck under a branch to kidnap Leia... Heck, the wise master of the jedi order panics like a nervious wreck and surrenders to less enemies than he just killed. "Quick Leia, lets disable this laser gate we could walk around just so we can walk through it"
What the hell is this writing? Seems more like they just make shows just to have female characters undermine legacy ones in their own shows

And worst of all as per Hollywood, the corp has decided to slander fans as bigots for a handful of hate comments to create a smokescreen to protect the IP from criticism for its poor writing to say the fandom has a racism problem, akin to Ghostbusters 2016 saying fans are sexist (despite only 0.2% of comments actually being hateful)

Typical media trying to spin genuine criticism as review bombing whilst ignoring the thousands of one sentance 10/10 rating in the space of 24 hours... We all know Disney is just doing damage control right now to protect their IP

I mean this 100% sincerely: I would rather watch the hypothetical Rian Johnson trilogy.

At least it wouldn't be another lame "prequel." At least he could emasculate his *own* characters instead of every old hero. At least it would be visually novel. At least it would only break general Star Wars world building/canon instead of ruining the old characters in detail. At least it wouldn't be another bait-n-switch where the hero is shown up by our ever-so-wonderful Mary Sue du'jour.

Also the writing would be better. It would be BAD 'cause Rian can't write well, but he's at least better than a D+ writer. With the exception of Wandavision's first half, these are some SERIOUS scrubs writing for D+. No talent, no work ethic. Most of them *don't even thoroughly watch the source material* before they begin "subverting" it & pushing THE MESSIGE.

Hacks. Arrogant hacks. Shame, 'cause this was an easy win. Instead we have juvenile narrative, weak dialogue, & characters molded to fit the narrative instead of the converse. Pathetic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a terrible show this is man. Kenobi being somewhat depressed at the state of the galaxy is fine with me but to forget all of his training and won't do anything to help others is really stupid. By the way, Kenobi is an idiot in this show. Has his lightsaber for everyone to view, never had his hood over his head (in fact in front of Storm Troopers), says Leia name out loud in front of storm troopers, is lead around by a 10 year old Leia, has no idea how to be a Jedi, could have gone around the barrier if he was smart, and looks like he doesn't know what is going on. Everyone in the galaxy is after you, idiot try to freaking hide by wearing anything but Jedi robes dummy. Just awful!!! Reva knows information that should never EVER been know by Vader's "right hand man." Knowing that Vader was once Anakin Skywalker is insulting for George Lucas and everyone in the galaxy. Reva knowing who Leia is and trying to get Kenobi without any context is insulting. Reva is a one note character. I am mad all the time. No depth, no emotion, no real direction, or clear motivation. Reva is an awful character (coming from a black man too). Bail Organa being stupid enough to let his daughter get capture and does not hire a bounty hunter or send his garrison to find her. Luke is Kenobi's responsibility and Leia is his. Grow up and find her with your millions of credits. Vader is stupid too. Won't go through a fire to attack Kenobi. Really Vader!?! You can jump over it with the force man.

Kenobi running away scared, not fighting and this was supposed to be the fight of the century Kathleen Kennedy!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! Please for God's sake resign. Leia outruns grown people that slow down every time they are close to her. WHAT A JOKE!!! And if you couldn't tell I HATE THIS FREAKING SHOW!!!!!!! What a stain on George Lucas's original character. Who is writing this crap at LucasFilm. Like you guys are not good and it is reflective in your writing. Disney Star Wars is a joke and an embarrassment to all that came before it. Characters seemingly 'teleport' as the plot requires them and the main lead, Kenobi, is portrayed as a powerless coward and an idiot. I do not like cheap stories. I do not like poorly written characters. I do not like actors acting below theirs abilities. I love when storywriters are putting efforts to deliver quality content. This is not the case. I do not recommend!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to like this series. Obi wan is one of my favorite characters but this Disney interpretation has ruined a beloved character to push gas lighting and a bait and switch. The Reva character is pointless, terrible writing, and is the focus of why? To push some agenda.

Young Rey, I mean Leia. She has more screen time and lines than Obi wan for some reason.

Obi wan is a bumbling idiot now and has no idea how to wield or turn on a light saber anymore and can barely use the force.

Continuity doesn’t matter anymore. Obi wan is trying to train Luke way before Yoda. A akin is not quite Vader yet and is chilling in a bacta tank for ten years and apparently they have their rematch before the events of episode four.

Star Wars is a shadow of its former self

1st episode was great and by episode 3 I was disappointed with everything. Disney needs to stop ruining great characters.

Awful. The plot twist was so obvious. They ruined kenobi too. But of course the nostalgia wins people over....

I literally do not enjoy the direction of this show. My goodness. This is why I warn people to not get too excited when a huge brand or title is being marketed or shown

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After watching episode 3 I have to drastically change my review. I was at a generous 6/10 and I was kinda optimistic for the show. While flawed, I initially thought it had potential and enough good ideas to keep me going.

Than along came a Vader... Episode 3 is essentially The Last Jedi all over again, suberting expectations and dismantling a beloved childhood hero. The story itself probably even isn't that bad, I might buy in a "what if" scenario. But good lord, Obi Wan deserves better than this. Apart from fan raving, the episode is full of plot holes, it doesn't make much sense in terms of canon and essentially contradicts itself every minute or two. Just one example, Obi Wan spends some time to disable a laser barrier his truck can't pass, but you could walk around it in seconds. After disabling it they ditch the truck and walk through it. Is there nobody doing a quality check? Or another example, literally from one minute to another Darth Vader loses the ability to extinguish a fire with the force, what he has literally done seconds before. Seriously?

So, anything good? Yeah, Reva is barely in it and Moses acting is a bit better. So at least it is not a bait and switch. Can't recommend watching this, considering terminating my Disney+ subscription as I don't want to finance such atrocities.

This was so bad After the mess that was boba fett I was hoping for something more. The story was so weak going into the last episode I did not care or even know what was at stake. Truly shocking.

Horrible. Obi-wan is just going to ignore Luke and go after Leia? What? Disney really has it in to just have nothing to do with Luke apparently. Wrong genitals between his legs?

She really is a bad actress and her character is embarrassingly silly. A story is only as good as its villain. Trouble is, she's not intimidating or menacing in the slightest, she's whiney and unconvincing. This show is a dud, the iconic character of Obi-Wan is worthy of so much more. I suppose we'll just have to wait until the end of August for some genuinely good Star Wars in the form of Andor. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely atrocious writing. Disney had just one job, and that was to make a show about Obi Wan. So far this show seems like the Leia/Reva show. The scenes with Kenobi are very little in a show that has his name as the title. Kenobi's job so far is cutting meat, and occasionally spying on luke for a few minutes, then going home, eating and sleeping. That is essentially all he does in the first episode. In the second episode, Obi Wan has to save Leia from kidnappers when his vow wasn't even to look after Leia in revenge of the sith. Nevertheless, we get an entire episode of Obi Wan chasing Leia around the city because apparently he is too slow and incompetent to catch a child as a full grown man. I am really disappointed at how he is written. He seems like a shell of the Obi Wan that we see in the prequels and the clone wars series. Kenobi doesn't feel like the protagonist in his own show. There are more things that I could mention like the bad cinematography, costume design, acting, music, etc., but this is the most glaring issue for me. Really Disappointing, even for Disney. Expand
