Windjammers 2 is a more than worthy successor to the classic, which knows how to keep the experience intact 25 years later. Much like what Dotemu did with Streets of Rage 4, Windjammers 2 takes the great gameplay of the original and improves it, with more possibilities and depth, but in a way that still feels classic.

The new platformer from demagog studio, creators of Golf Club: Nostalgia, draws from the classics to expand a curious and visually attractive post-apocalyptic universe, although its gameplay can clumsy, frustrating, and repetitive, and its narrative is less ingenious than its predecessor. It still manages to convey nostalgia and sympathy while exploring its beautiful 2D apocalyptic scenarios.

Entertaining, beautiful and charming, de Blob 2 may become too easy for some players, but it is also a relaxing game with colorful environments, a feature which is scarce nowadays. Its main problem is the repetitiveness of elements and gameplay, which can be felt after some hours of play.

Punishing yet ultimately gratifying, this remake revives the oppressive atmosphere and uncompromising difficulty of the original. It rewards patience with deep sociological complexity despite the intentionally clunky combat and total absence of modern guidance. This polarizing experience successfully prioritizes heritage over accessibility, delivering a brutal journey for dedicated fans.

Syndicate is a good and entertaining game, sometimes frantic, which has a great atmosphere but also can be understood as a lost chance to make the most of the story and the legacy of the series.
