A few graphical and menu based issues aside, Farm Manager 2022 is a solid game that I’d be happy to recommend to anyone looking for a bit of an escape from the real world, or anyone interested in a simulator offering layers upon layers of customization.

The main issue is the lack of any kind of tactical play in Divine Knockout (DKO). The best of these games have characters that can counter the moves of others, and that is entirely missing here. Just hammer X to win!

Into The Pit is fast paced, repetitive and ever so slightly tactical. It may seem simple at first, but it’s a real blast with hidden depths (quite literally) that keep it from becoming too much of a grind.

Makis Adventure is certainly that… an adventure. During its course you’ll encounter curious characters, formidable foes, precious puzzles and mellow moments all standing in the way of your goal. Sadly, a dull combat system and barren hub world, are a deadly duo leaving this title enjoyable, with potential greatness hiding inside.

Sonic Origins was a wonderful celebration of all things Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic Origins Plus however, causes the overall compilation to miss more than it hits.

Speedollama is far from a bad game, and the action can certainly be fun and frantic, but it isn’t necessarily a game that will grab you and refuse to let go.

I really love The Occupation and what the team behind it have managed to create. The great story, in an amazing universe, has been brilliantly written and performed. The downside though is that the actual gameplay – you know, the important bit – isn’t quite right, even after the patches have dropped. It is this which has caused huge frustration, particularly in the latter parts of the game, interrupting the otherwise involving concept.

The story of Re.Surs is deep and spiralling whilst the narrative strikes a good tone, both in its serious moments and the comedic ones. Mostly the gameplay is fun too, but Re.Surs can feel punishing

Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic is more of the same, but it really is a whole lot more, and that more is created with real care.

We recommend Airoheart with some fierce caveats. It is Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past fan fiction, but it’s really good fan fiction, created by someone who doesn’t just love the series, but understands what makes it work. But that person comes with an agenda: that a game of this type should be as unhelpful as possible.

The story is a good one, the twists and turns are surprising, and the change between the past and present is very effective in its concept. The gameplay is very old-school though, and the tracking back is irritating at times, while a chase section in the latter moments is not really needed. Overall though, taking into account the price and the 4 to 5-hour running time, it delivers a decent piece of old-style adventure gaming.

From just looking at the title of the game you will know whether you’re going to love Bus Simulator on Xbox One or not. The gameplay is a slog at times, but the repetitive nature is also sort of soothing to the soul, with the missions bringing a bit of reason to why you are there and allowing you to continue playing in order to unlock things.

If you have a lot of prior Yu-Gi-Oh! knowledge, and the time to invest, Master Duel is most certainly a good game, deep down. For the rest of us lesser mortals, the bar to entry is set ridiculously high, and feels like the world it holds is basically impenetrable.

There are certainly things to love about GreedFall: The Dying World, but after many hours in its world, I left feeling a little deflated.

If you're looking for a game to tickle the little grey cells, you may just have found it with Knight's Retreat. The only real complaint is that once you’ve nailed the 80 levels, that’s about it; there isn't a score for each level, and so the urge to carry on playing once it is defeated just isn't there.

I ended up liking Escape from the Past a deal less than Escape from Anti-Escape Island. The story and setting never captured me in the same way, leaving me a little less enthused for ransacking and completing the rooms. But it still has that puzzle magic, able to conjure up new puzzles or remix familiar ones into brand new shapes.

Mining Mechs works very well, especially if you’re looking for a game you can pretty much play on autopilot. The pixel art is pretty enough, the soundtrack doesn’t grate and gameplay-wise it requires very little thinking.

If you enjoyed the vibes found in Urban Flow but need a railway take on matters, you’d do well to check out Train Traffic Manager. Whilst we’d have liked to see the Endless Mode opened up from the get-go, playing through the Campaign stages on offer delivers a decently fun puzzling time, ensuring there’s a reason to keep coming back, as you go working through them.

It’s not the best Sam & Max game, or even the second best, but Sam & Max Save the World is a milestone in the series, preserved with love by the best people to do so. If you’ve been looking for a reason to spend time with two of gaming’s best characters on an Xbox, grab it with all four paws.

There are problems with text size and some big glitches when playing in the first person, however the inventiveness and story win over these misgivings. In all, The Enigma Machine provides an experience that stays with you way after the game has finished.

Unto The End on Xbox is a game that you're going to either utterly love or will find just too difficult to play. Fans of old school titles like Another World and Prince of Persia will like the tricky elements and challenges that have you trying again and again. But it's a brutal world that brings all this together; one full of traps, death, and mystery, and I would personally have liked to be able to explore a little more without the constant threat of death and danger.

We were sprinting to the end of To Hell With The Ugly with a very strong score in mind - until that ending hit. It’s thrown us for a loop, as the characters would say. Which is a shame, as this jazz-tinged narrative adventure is as stylish as it is daft, and we don’t get enough of its like on the Xbox.

The world of darkness is a fascinating one filled with dark entities, brutal backstabs and a surprising humanity underneath it all, as cheesy as that sounds. Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York’s story manages to grasp that well, with some great writing, but the short playtime and limited mechanics left me hungry for more.

Smart Moves on Xbox One is a straight-forward, fun little game once you discover how it all works. At £4.19 it’s great value for money and there are most certainly worse ways to spend a few hours.

Playing against friends on the couch is where MageQuit comes alive as one of the best party games since Overcooked, and you can share it with just about anyone. Yet the game just can’t shake the feeling that there isn’t enough there.

Hyper-5 is a fairly accomplished shoot 'em up with some interesting ideas. The allowance of tailoring your loadout works well, and the visuals are well presented, but the later levels in particular are very hard to navigate safely.

If you can stick around after being thrown in at the deep end with the ‘robust’ DLC releases and, quite frankly, awful controls then The Sims 4 is definitely worth it.

F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch is not the best Metroidvania out there, but in a sea full of them, this would definitely be swimming close to the top. That is all thanks to its fantastic combat, upgrade system and setting.
