Into the pit is a fun additive and hard roguelike in its own way.

Old school FPS fans will be right at home here, brought in by the fast movement, impactful weaponry and the constant back-peddling and side-strafing attack methods emblematic of classic shooters. Even though I’m not generally a fan of Roguelikes by the very nature of the repetitive loop, I found myself getting very caught up in the grind here. Each run felt new and exciting, and when I was dropped a power or weapon that I liked it really got me hyped to get into the next room to use it. I think I finally get why the genre has been so popular, and I can see myself playing this for quite some time yet.

Into The Pit is a good way to reintroduce a genre one could have assumed a relic of the past. It’s a tad slowly paced and can get repetitive as any roguelike might, but it’s a strong innovation on a tried and true genre.

Into the Pit is a fascinating roguelite, with a truly inspired graphic style, but the absence of a true challenge and the repetitiveness of the dungeons make it an indie suitable only for fans of the genre.

Into The Pit is fast paced, repetitive and ever so slightly tactical. It may seem simple at first, but it’s a real blast with hidden depths (quite literally) that keep it from becoming too much of a grind.

It is difficult to judge Into the Pit: the game starts really strong and seems to have what it takes to bewitch the player until the end. Unfortunately, the Nullpointer Games title tends to get repetitive after a few hours and interest wanes over time. What Into the Pit lacks is a little more variety (from enemy behaviors to levels, which are a little too much alike) while the procedural generation typical of the roguelite / roguelike genre leaves something to be desired in this one. interpretation. A greater difficulty in the clashes was desirable: overall, Into the Pit remains a title to try for lovers of the genre, especially if you are a subscriber to the Game Pass.

I did not beat the game however, and have no interest in revisiting, not really anything too special after the fact. Expand

I'm a big fan of old school FPS games and roguelikes but the game ultimately fails to scratch either itch. Most of the perks and weapons don't feel worthwhile and the game quickly becomes redundant. The combat at times can feel satisfying but most all the damage you take feels very cheap and loading up on health trumps any skill. Expand

It might have worked with better execution and a lot more variety in level design, enemies, and character progression. You can advance your character by saving villagers and collecting motes in dungeons, but they quickly become pointless. I believe there's something interesting here though if the developers can greatly improve upon it. Expand

Unfortunately I got a game breaking bug in under 2 minutes that has completely locked me out of the game. I wanted to keep my thumbs on the sticks at all times so I remapped the jump buttom to the left bumper and the accept button to the right bumper. Unfortunately the game does not seem to register the right bumper as I can no longer accept anything. I can't even get past the main menu to start up the game. If the game gets patched I'll make sure to update this review but as it stands the game broke before I even finished the first room. Expand
