Blast Brigade Vs the Evil Legion of Dr. Cread has plenty of hidden depths, despite the fact the journey is something of a bumpy one. If you can see past the occasional gripe, there’s an engaging adventure here that is difficult to put down.

Cozy Grove on the Xbox lies in the shadow of Animal Crossing, and the moments where it steps out of that shadow are its weakest. While Animal Crossing never stops feeling welcoming, Cozy Grove keeps pushing you towards the door, and a lot of the charm goes with it. Regardless, there’s plenty of room on the Xbox for an experience as undemanding and beautiful as this one, and you’ll find yourself rummaging for walnuts in a spare thirty minutes. You certainly can’t live in Cozy Grove, but it’s great to visit.

Shadowrun Returns is a solid tactical RPG with a good story; one which you will certainly enjoy.

Trash is Fun is a wholesome (if brief) experience that just goes to show that recycling can indeed be fun.

Queen’s Quest 3: The End of Dawn on Xbox One manages to possess a story full of intriguing plot points, some truly wonderful artwork, a cracking bonus chapter and a shed load of collectibles. Unfortunately, it’s held back by the mini-game selection, the terrible animation and a cursor issue which really puts a damper on every single hidden object section.

Togges is one of the most original and stupendously generous games you will find, this year or any year. It’s Super Mario Galaxy on a roomba, with some of Nokia’s Snake thrown in for good measure. Now, if that’s not enough to tease you in, nothing ever will.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows on Xbox One delivers a flurry of hard-hitting punches, but misses with almost as many as it lands. The story-based goings on are in keeping with the anime, many recognisable characters feature and you just have to love the nonchalant Saitama. Even the fighting is a lot of fun thanks to the quirky events, ace killer moves and the arrivals, with a frantic feel to proceedings. However your hero is lacking in character, customisation options and just how powerless they feel at times.

Horse Club Adventures has its eyes on a younger audience, and our little ones loved it. They will stomach its repetition and focus on making friends with a bunch of affable ladies, all while enjoying some intuitive horse riding. It’s just a big, colourful sandbox to gallop around in, and the yawnsome makework won’t stop them from enjoying their vacation here.

You’ll find that there are many different elements to Dinosaur Fossil Hunter and I was gobsmacked at the sheer number of mechanics that were introduced. But this is intricate work at times and your enjoyment of that detail will dictate how well you get on with Dinosaur Fossil Hunter.

Nerds unite! This may well be the quiz for you. ‘General’ knowledge is a dirty term: Majotori is interested in anime primarily, with some film and video games to sweeten the deal. If those are your Mastermind subjects then buy Majotori.

The Magister may not be as simple and focused as a game of Cluedo, but it still shares a lot of its joys. If you love the feeling of narrowing in on a suspect, or pulling back a mask in a Scooby Doo fashion, then The Magister might work for you. Just be prepared for a long, sometimes repetitive and always clumsy journey to get there.

BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites is a game that is a lot of fun to play; it’s fast, bloody and violent, and in terms of combat at least is right up there. The platforming is where things take a turn for the worse though, and the sections where you are trying to keep her alive via pixel perfect jumps are extremely frustrating.

Don’t be put off by the visuals, and don’t expect your time in the Continuum to be a walk in the park, because this warped world brings about plenty of frustration, but if you’re prepared to hunker down and refuse to take an ‘L’, no matter what the situation, then this is something that will appeal.

There doesn't feel like there is much new in ITORAH, little original in terms of gameplay. But, and it's a big but, the world is a great place to spend some time in, complete with brilliant visuals and a great soundtrack. The gameplay is solid and the main character endearing. It's those elements that will probably win you over.

Despite the presence of so many other games, Aggelos still succeeds at providing a surprisingly polished and organically designed 2D platformer RPG with great play mechanics. Yes, it won’t attract a non-expert audience as it is clearly targeted towards Wonder Boy/World loyalists, but diehard fans who have played the existing catalogue extensively will get the fix they need from Aggelos.

Crysis 2 Remastered on Xbox can have a jarring introduction for those coming to it straight from the original. The open-world sandbox is gone, replaced by a much more story-driven game. That becomes less of a problem as you get into the meat of Crysis 2, but those first few hours are a bit of a slog.

When the blood flows and a detective is needed, SHINRAI: Broken Beyond Despair becomes far more accomplished. If you have the stomach for it, there is some great stuff waiting for you at the end of this visual novel. You just have to wade through some disgusting innards to get there.

Sadly, Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly can’t match up to its predecessor. It lacks the emotional impact of the first game that meant it stuck with you long after completion. There are still some very touching moments towards the end, depending on how you choose to play it, and the additional endings are welcome, but this reunion of old friends and acquaintances is lacking the same spark that the first game had to spare.

With a name like Golf With Your Friends, you know exactly what you are getting - taking on opponents across 18-hole courses, lowest score wins. It’s a very simple concept, but where this could be a simple golf-based game done many times before, Golf With Your Friends presents a new experience, letting us enjoy multiplayer golfing by bringing in simultaneous play and a ton of customisation options to make sure the fun doesn’t dwindle after only a few hours.

Hellpoint on Xbox One has a lot of good points; certainly enough to recommend it. It’s dark, creepy and brutal - all the things you want from a Souls-type game. On the other hand, a seeming lack of polish does spoil the party somewhat, with camera issues killing me more often than the creatures, and a strange kind of weightlessness to the attacks present.

It's great to see a classic from three decades back be treated to some real love. Centipede: Recharged may not be a must player and it may still fast feel its age, but some modern day additions just about ensure it's worth a little play.
