"Smart moves" is a combination of puzzle and turn-based roguelike mechanics. Destroy monsters, open chests!

The hero can attack monsters when hero and monster are standing on neighboring square. Avoid being the first at a distance of impact! The hero can't skip turns, but can use level objects - or other monsters - to "skip" the turn. Every game level is a puzzle with its own logical solution. Our experiments with game mechanics require a good understanding from the player how objects interact with each other in the game world. The game has original game art style. You get a new playing experience where game mechanics are of maximum importance.

Smart Moves on Xbox One is a straight-forward, fun little game once you discover how it all works. At £4.19 it’s great value for money and there are most certainly worse ways to spend a few hours.

This game is Hard. You control an Adventurer, and you navigate a collection of worlds each with eight puzzles. The objective it to gather all the treasure in each stage. You have only but to move you character to worry about, and moving into an objective will "act" on it. Such as to open a chest you stand beside it and "move" in it's direction, instead of moving you'll collect the chest, same with attacking. If you and an enemy move to the same square, or an enemy moves onto yours, you die. Once the enemies are alerted of you they move towards you best they can in an attempt to kill you, the move one square every time you take an action. This is where the real puzzle comes into play, so you should really think about your every move. You can restart a stage from the beginning at anytime by pressing 'Y', and once you've collected a scroll you can restart at a checkpoint by pressing 'X'. The game is super simple, and in that simplicity is designed a beautifully complex set of puzzles. In that complexity can come frustration as you can feel like you've tried everything to always result in death and failure. It may be hard, but it's totally defeatable. A fun little package, especially if you like to grind your brain! Expand
