    Embr delivers on its promise of frantic firefighting chaos. However, with performance issues and multiplayer snags raining down on the Switch version, it’s a weaker experience compared to the crossplay-enabled counterparts.

    Drawn To Life: Two Realms appears familiar, but when you start to play it, it just falls apart at the seams. Everything that made the originals fun, particularly the touchscreen controls, has been disregarded, leaving a huge disappointment behind.

    Modern Combat: Blackout is a soulless experience. The campaign is repetitive and dull. The Switch might be lacking a military shooter, but Modern Combat: Blackout is still best left on mobile devices.

    While the morals that the game tries to tell are good ones – since when is kicking almighty lumps out of bullies not a good thing – it would have been nice to see a bit more complexity added to the arsenal of attacks. It feels like a game that a mobile device would be able to handle with no trouble – and the Switch needs to be above that level in order to sway families away from mobile gaming and back to a trusty console.

    While strong on storyline and overall feel, the control system stopped Milanoir being great. Repetitive sequences didn't help, either - there were times where the action sequences had me bored, and were a chore to complete.

    The Forbidden Arts will remind you of those old 99p bargain bin games with a drab colour palette, annoying music and half-baked combat. Some platforming elements are enjoyable, but the overall package is a chore rather than a joy to play.

    Broken Blades promises a blend of platforming, roguelite, and RPG. Sadly, behind its Scribblenauts-style cartoon sprites is ultimately a lazy game. It’s all let down by the individual pieces only ever being “good enough”. No love, effort, or creativity is infused to elevate it to something beyond a game I never, ever want to play ever again.

    RIOT – Civil Unrest is an interesting concept poorly executed, resulting in a tedious game that fails to achieve its own lofty aspirations. The distinction between police and protester is valid, but is executed in a way that leaves you wanting greater insight.

    Panty Party’s eShop listing has a warning that the game does not feature any hentai content, but I honestly feel like it would be better if it did; at least a hentai game has an obvious audience with a clear purpose. As it is now, this game just isn’t dumb enough or openly degenerate enough to have any real appeal. It’s a dumb story that takes itself too seriously to laugh at but not seriously enough to be engaged in, and the gameplay is too boring to keep from getting old after just a handful of chapters. I cannot imagine who Panty Party’s audience is because it seems to be trying to coast entirely on curiosity born from its bizarre high concept.

    Storm Boy: The Game is an interesting take on interactive storytelling, and young children or fans of the book may find enjoyment here, but its short length and lack of any real gameplay make it one worth passing on for the average Switch Player.

    If you’re looking for a nightmarish title with eerie environments, nail-biting and butt-clenching moments of suspense, then you’re betting off looking at Limbo or Little Nightmares. Selma and the Wisp gets dull very quickly.

    Despite the very pleasing sound and visuals, Slain is just too unforgiving to be as fun as it should be. I'm glad I've finished it, because those damned flying enemies swooping down on me are giving me nightmares.

    Thief of Thieves may get some things right, but this stealth adventure comes with a host of issues of varying severity. The most notable of these is a completion-preventing bug, so we’d suggest steering clear unless a patch is released.

    Legend of the Skyfish is a game with potential, but unclear direction. It lacks incentive, and its story feels like too small pieces of something more. There is some variety on offer between the islands, but a tedious drawn-out tutorial-esque start dampens the experience.

    Make War is a promising strategy game that is plagued by localisation issues. If you’re still interested in its unique simulation elements, I’d recommend playing it on PC to avoid the frustration of using a cursor on the Switch.

    It's a shame to report that this one's a disappointment. All of the excitement that should have been is replaced by turn-based u-turns, trying to get into a position to shoot the opponent. Avoid.

    Lust for Darkness doesn’t really deliver what its trailer promises. The scares aren’t great, other than the jarring ‘caught’ noise on the short stealth section. With a short run-time, it’s an underwhelming experience.

    Violett is a pretty looking point and click title that does have its moments but is let down by poor storytelling and some strange design choices. Fans of the genre and newcomers alike will find the game to have a certain charm, but frustrations will creep in and I found myself appreciating the stalwarts of the genre even more by the time I saw the end credits.

    I really wanted to enjoy Dream Alone. Whilst it's clear that certain aspects are inspired by the likes of Super Meat Boy, the platforming elements just don't hold up as well. The unforgiving deaths and inability to see where you're going most of the time makes the whole experience a bit of a disappointment.

    A game which seems to draw a lot from Resident Evil, Vaccine is more than just a clone; it's a hard-as-nails rendition of what the series would be like if it was procedurally generated and smaller in scope. At this they've succeeded, and have managed to weave in some fun to boot. It's not the best Resident Evil clone I've ever played, but it's better than average - and the gameplay twists are both addictive and satisfying in their own right.
