Fight Night Round 4 is not perfect, but it's the best simulation of the technical and strategic elements of boxing in any game to date.

Bionic Bay is the perfect game to keep between bigger more involved titles but also has an interesting narrative for those who want it, perfectly balancing fun and challenge with a very approachable pick-up-and-play style.

Soul Sacrifice Delta delivers a payload of extra missions and gameplay time as well as enhanced controls. Though the grind of the game is increased further by the extra content, the gameplay enhancements make enjoying the game for what its worth that much easier.

Though a significant amount of time has passed since its original release resulting it not being quite as fresh as it was and its relatively brief five hour or so duration might frustrate those looking for a more substantial morsel, Moss nevertheless enthrals thanks to its extremely likeable heroine, superbly judged platforming adventure gameplay and sublime VR presentation. If you've yet to hop on the Moss train, now is the time to address that.

If you've been holding off from picking up Mundaun, now is absolutely the time to jump in. Representing arguably the definitive version of a game that more people really need to play, Mundaun on PS5 brings a level of fidelity and smoothness to Hidden Field's superb horror effort that only serves to strengthen its ruthlessly engaging tale.

A fairly competent remaster of one of the last generation’s most underappreciated shooters, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Editon reminds us that dumb fun doesn’t mean no creativity. For anyone who’s already played it, there’s not much new to make this an essential repurchase, but if you see it for a lower price down the road, grab it.

With its relaxed nautical paddling beats, accurate kayak physics and photorealistic locations, Kayak VR: Mirage is my go-to PSVR2 game after a particularly stressful day or as a palette cleanser after playing more intense PSVR2 titles. Though its content offering could be broader, the simple fact remains that Kayak VR: Mirage effortlessly commends itself as one of the highlights of the PSVR2 launch line-up and is a VR experience that everybody should play.

"In Harm's Way" doesn't find the same balance of exploration and linearity that mark the very best Telltale episodes, but The Walking Dead's story and protagonists have scarcely been better executed.

Slightly clunky platforming and inconsistent visual presentation isn't enough to meaningfully detract from one of the most emotionally affecting and innovative action platformers on the market. If you enjoyed the likes of Inside and Limbo, you'll love The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories.

Far Cry New Dawn reskins the entire map of Far Cry 5, adding enough new mechanics to prevent it from feeling like a retread. While the new villains are lackluster, the return of Joseph Seed is very welcome, giving new depth to the character and his world. With Outpost invasions, Expeditions, and treasure hunts, there is a ton of content here, and almost all of it is fun. There is very little filler in Far Cry New Dawn, and by streamlining the content, Ubisoft delivers a game that is razor sharp.

Even though nearly a decade has passed since Until Dawn first spooked and tore its way onto PlayStation consoles, its keenly judged take on the teen slasher trope together with convincing voice actor performances and non-linear narrative still remain appealing - and arguably sit at the apex of anything developer Supermassive Games has created. Of course, if you were indifferent to Until Dawn when it originally released, this shiny new 2024 edition will do precious little to change your mind. For everyone else however, Until Dawn's PS5 outing represents the definitive version of one of the most effective horror titles released in the last console generation.

A wonderfully mad and yet eminently compelling take on the party game genre, Marooners is just the shot in the arm that the local multiplayer scene needs on PS4.

MLB The Show 18 touches up some places and refines others. Despite missing online franchise, The Show 18 slings a complete game, even if it has a couple of problems on base.

A much-needed re-release of Team Ninja's trio of Ninja Gaiden titles, though the third game is a step below the other two games, and the remastering effort a touch on the conservative side, it's a proper joy to be able to play the first two Ninja Gaiden games once again on contemporary hardware; camera issues with the first game notwithstanding. Bolstered by a neat amount of extras and the seemingly ageless and satisfying combat that's as good now in 2021 as it was before, the king of high-octane, hyperviolent ninja action has returned.

Another Crab's Treasure sets out to try and create a Soulslike that trims down the complicated foundation into a new approachable format and succeeds in every regard. A variety of accessibility options mean that anybody can dive in and experience the journey of Kril and have a part to play in the hunt for his shell. While inviting newcomers, Another Crab's Treasure manages to offer an exceptionally unique approach to combat that manages to stand out among the crowd. Technical hiccups throughout sour the experience very slightly, but the game on show here is ambitious and a strong candidate for anybody's first foray into this well-beloved genre. All managing to come together under an appealing and consistently entertaining journey and cast, Another Crab's Treasure is a great time.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a wonderfully innovative fusion of genres that managed to take me on a journey from frustration to being totally absorbed in the world that it offers. Across a lengthy campaign, everything comes together to create a story that feels well and truly realised. Some rough edges do little to diminish just how impressed I am in how quickly this game managed to turn me around. While it might take a while for it to truly soar, it soars high.

One of the best Madden game[s] of this generation.

Rise of The Third Power brings a lot to the table, streamlining the old charm by adding modern nuances to make something quite special. Invigorating combat meets intriguing writing, which makes for a perfect RPG combination. Some design choices may not sit well with everyone, but Rise of The Third Power still stands as a fantastic RPG more than worth anyone's time.

Looking for a brutal war experience? Look no further than Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

An effortlessly stylish cyberpunk, twin-stick shooter, RUINER is essential for fans of the genre.

As long as you don't expect anything genre-defining, Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is a breathtaking Metroidvania experience. The art style is gorgeous, the action-platforming is fast and satisfying, and the sweet modesty of its tale is though-provoking and gentle. Path of the Teal Lotus is a little heavy with the tutorials at the beginning, boss battles later on get frustrating, and it doesn't do anything remarkably new, but fans of Hollow Knight will find this a gratifying curio that's well worth diving into, even if the pool here is a little bit shallow.

Freedom Wars and its story-driven RPG action could put PS Vita on the map in a way that previously hyped titles have been unable to do. A few bothersome elements can’t derail an exciting game with a wholly unique premise.

The Amusement Park expansion helps elevate PAIN into the category of must-own PlayStation Network titles alongside the likes of Super Stardust HD and PixelJunk Monsters.

Boasting a wealth of challenge and a litany of well considered changes, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 feels like a Grandmasters Tour of series architect Toru Iwatani’s magnum opus. Accessible and compelling, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is one of the finest arcade games you can buy on PS4.

A deft marriage of dungeon crawling, shop management elements and infectiously twee audiovisual presentation, Moonlighter makes a fine addition to the upper echelon of action adventures available on PS4.

Equally playable in VR and flat, Mini Motor Racing X has is RC racing stripped down to its essential, accessible core, and is all the better for avoiding needless complications. While the new weapons could use a bit of spit and polish to become relevant, the overall game doesn’t suffer. With a ton of content and an incredible amount of customization, Mini Motor Racing X says “yes” to pretty much any way you want to play. Addictive and fun.

Hitman bows out with a strong finale in game terms, if not in story. A fine balance of claustrophobic level design and Hitman’s signature murder opportunities make for a fitting personification of all Hitman is and was.

With its balanced class-based, teamwork orientated gameplay, great graphics and slick mechanics that keep you playing into the wee hours of the night, Evolve itches that competitive urge and feels a lot more evolved that your standard, run-of-the-mill shooter.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando delivers pure co-op chaos with confidence and flair. Massive hordes, satisfying weapon variety, inventive vehicles, and clever salvage/defense mechanics create consistently thrilling missions. Class progression, skill trees, and temporary heavy weapons encourage experimentation and strategic play. Performance dips are minor in comparison to the spectacle, and while the game doesn’t reinvent the genre, it refines a familiar formula in ways that feel fresh, especially with friends. Overall, it’s a high-energy, replayable co-op experience that shines brightest in teamwork-driven chaos.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers isn't perfect, but it doesn't need to be to stand among the best in the Soulsborne genre. It doesn't just mimic what makes these games fun but expands on the formula that few others could. Challenging gameplay, riveting exploration, and unique control mechanics help to elevate Wuchang well above the run-of-the-mill Soulsborne clone. Wuchang more than deserves its own franchise.

Codemasters has finally made the Formula 1 game F1 fans have been clamouring for – realistic, thrilling, and adrenaline pumping.

Raji: An Ancient Epic is an incredible experience delivered through a short and vibrant story. You can feel the passion and the talent from the developers come through in each moment of the game. Though it may not be as polished around the edges as I’d like, the issues do not outweigh the high points.

Twenty seven months worth of patches, content updates and a next-generation coat of visual sheen is enough to allow Dead by Daylight to realize its ambition as one of the most enjoyably terrifying online multiplayer experiences out there. If you've been holding off and waiting for Dead by Daylight to 'get good' or 'get fixed', now is the time for you to finally jump in. You won't regret it.

Another great couch co-op game hits PS4. Catastronauts looks good and gets the balance right between challenge and fun. It's a blast with friends as you work together to complete multiple tasks on a space ship.

A Crack in Time is a well crafted platformer boasting hilarious dialogue and addictive gameplay. While it doesn't make any radical changes to the formula, both fans and newcomers will have a blast out of it.

Some will deem this an instant classic. Blasting heads clean off shoulders has never been so much fun.

Knights and Bikes captures the heart of childhood imagination. It’s a largely carefree experience with limited mechanical substance, but that's part of the reason it works. It’s a great family-friendly co-op game and balances its silly sense of humour and childlike joy with some of the melancholic reality of growing up.

Don’t let the playful concept fool you, Disco Dodgeball Remix is no joke and should not be overlooked. Gameplay is fun, fast, furious, and more balanced than most AAA shooters. The game offers a ton of content for both multiplayer and single player gamers.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a quirky mix of physics and mini-games wrapped up into a story about an Octopus that pretends to be a man and simply wants to live a normal life with his family.

Dragon Age II offers an action-oriented RPG adventure with enough refinements to improve upon the stellar Origins. However, the new streamlined combat, loot, and exploration system may turn off hardcore RPG followers.

A fast, fluid murderous romp through a comic book style world. Gods Trigger does enough to stand out in this niche genre of top-down twitchy twin-stick shooters.

Hotel R’n’R allows players to engage in an ultimate fantasy – being a rock star and smashing up a hotel room. With solid controls and a fun game loop, Hotel R’n’R will call players back again and again for one more round – even if the progression feels a bit slow. This is a solid game with a wicked sense of humor. If you suspect that you will like Hotel R’n’R even a little, I’m here to tell you that you will love it. Rock on.

FIFA finally feels different. The pace on the pitch is slower and more deliberate, but greater player control makes for some exciting and realistic football.

Ashen is one of the best souls-likes around and its quality matches that of the games that gave birth to the genre. The mystery and lore help to build a fascinating world that excellently complements the open and varied environments and strange, contorted creatures you will fight in them. A44 have provided a big breath of fresh air in a genre desperately in need of reinvigoration.

Firewall Zero Hour isn’t perfect, but it’s such an exciting, well-designed VR experience that you won’t even notice it’s flaws. With a few improvements it could easily become the spiritual successor to SOCOM.

Punch Line tells a fantastic story amidst all the chaos that takes place. It may seem pervy from its advertisements but there is a charming experience here that you will surely remember.

In a class by itself, San Diego Studios continues to wow audiences with an authentic baseball sim with its newly released MLB The Show 17. It’s visually astounding, and all games modes have that extra something to keep you playing long into the night with only a few significant things keeping it from statistical perfection.

After the relentless grimdark of FROM Software's stellar Souls and Bloodborne offerings, Necropolis feels like a breath of fresh (fetid, really) air. Hellbent on not taking itself too seriously and offering solid roguelike, dungeon crawler mechanics underpinned by a finely tuned combat system, Necropolis is not a game you want to be sleeping on.

Dambuster Studios has come in and created a highly entertaining cavalcade of carnage with Dead Island 2. It’s a game that takes great joy in the simple act of smashing, splatting, and slicing the undead into meaty chunks and I’m very much here for that.

Rivals makes Rock Band 4 a much better experience for the hardcore, whilst throwing a juicy story mode bone to the more casual player. As expansions go, this is pretty much how you should go about it.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Curse is simply wonderful. Not only does it keep the spirit of the original, it proves that you don’t need to overthink and recreate a formula that works just as well in 2017 as it did in 1989. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Curse is a must buy.

NBA 2K15 brings a milestone performance with enhanced presentation across the board. Only server lag and long loading screens keep 2K15 from a spot on the sports-game dream team.

The original Mass Effect has finally arrived on the PlayStation 3, which completes the trilogy without hopping consoles. Even though the game shows obvious and often obtrusive signs of age, the original shooter RPG still holds up and delivers an experience to fans who have wanted it for so long.

While Project DIVA Future Tone is a welcome addition to the PlayStation family, it most certainly doesn’t hold your hand when trying to master every song. Hitting that last note and realising you’ve got yourself a perfect or even scraping a pass is the most satisfying feeling ever.

With its eloquent mix of dystopia, stealth puzzling and point n’ click adventuring, Republique is a gem of a game, soured only by some easily-avoided technical problems and a slightly uneven storytelling issue late on.

Even on low difficulty with aim assist this game provides a challenge to newcomers to 3rd person shooters.

Golem is a video game redemption story – saved from the brink by a patch that cleared up many of the game’s release problems. What is left is a fascinating game of exploration, punctuated by hardcore, visceral combat. With atmosphere to spare, Golem delivers a unique experience unlike any other on PSVR. Recommended for patient, thoughtful players that enjoy a challenge (and don't mind a lot of repetition).

Certainly representing the definitive version of the flawed but ultimately enjoyable Biomutant on PlayStation consoles, Biomutant's PS5 debut largely erases the performance issues and instability that plagued the PS4 version of the game, delivering a handsomely made open-world adventure that can be enjoyed by gamers of all ages.

A simple, yet eminently playable dodge em' up vertical scroller, Lost Orbit will suck players in with its tight controls and wonderfully constructed story.

Death Standing proves itself as a unique, palpable new IP, filled with rich storytelling both in narrative and gameplay. The beginning of the game suffers from long gaps of time intended for learning the ropes, but the ship rights itself once it finally turns the corner. Despite that with a handful of missteps, a deep, potent message of coming together rings through every aspect of Death Stranding that dazzles the game as a whole. If you give it the time, Death Stranding will offer you something most games never do.

There is plenty to love about Darktide, and all the improvements made to the game in the two years since its release have solidified it as one of the better co-op exclusive shooters. It's not without issues, particularly the long missions and the lack of a single-player experience. But if you love playing with random mutuals or even your friends, you'll have a blast in Darktide. Just make sure you have the time to finish some of these missions.

Though structurally identical to the previous Capcom Arcade Stadium collection of retro goodies, Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium nonetheless remains an easy recommendation thanks to its assemblage of still enjoyable and well emulated classics that are given the sort of love and sheen that each has long deserved.

Life is Strange Episode 3 is another thrilling entry in this intriguing adventure series, featuring some of the best plot development to date.

There aren't many games that can carry charm and charisma on its back throughout its entire duration, but Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan managed to keep my interest from start to finish. Its charm is undeniable, and developer ManaVoid Entertainment managed to create an experience that held a smile on my face from start to finish. The game can get repetitive quickly, but the delightful exploration and innovative combat kept me intrigued long enough to see the credits roll.

Volume is not perfect, but it is a relentlessly fun, interesting and engrossing stealth game that looks to have legs thanks to an excellently simple level creator.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is surprisingly adept at multiplayer mayhem and character balanced, making for a seriously enjoyable diversion from military shooter ad nauseum.

Stardust Odyssey is a game of true beauty, transporting the player to a fantastical world as hauntingly familiar as a recurring dream. While the Stealth gameplay can become frustrating due to escalating difficulty and some checkpoint issues, Stardust is still a game that every PSVR fan should experience for its world-building alone. A true step forward in VR gaming.

Drastic improvements made to the core gameplay of Predator: Hunting Grounds vastly enhances the overall experience, making for a much more polished and better game than the one I played back in 2020. Predator: Hunting Grounds deserves a second chance.

An RPG that tries to be different from any other. Those who enjoy games with lots of customization and breeding will have a lot of fun. The downside is there is little to do with your super children that stops it from being an instant classic.

Bright, bold and colourful. Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling adds another dimension to turn-based battles and brings platforming, puzzles and heart to a worthwhile adventure. The art-style was not to my taste but it fits the subject matter perfectly. There is a lot of game here for your money, especially if you want to see it all. Now bug off and get tucked into the game.

Despite a small handful of flaws, The Council Episode Two: Hide and Seek places an exclamation point on one of the cleverest narrative adventure games on the market.

Until Then stands as a heartening example of a narrative adventure game and manages to strike a chord with its delicate balance of the supernatural and highschool drama. Managing to deftly avoid the tropes that dominate the space, every choice in Until Then feels intentional and every interaction feels far more earnest than some of its contemporaries. I very much enjoyed experiencing this story and being able to almost relive some of my own silly highschool stories through the eyes of Mark. Lying underneath the teenage awkwardness is a story about growth and acceptance, and it is one that everyone will be able to see themselves in.

A space agency simulator which overcomes its PC roots and primitive presentation to become a highly addictive and original strategy game. Packed with space facts and sprinklings of humour, Mars Horizon is a joy to dip into for both young and old and your thumbs can rest while your brain takes over.

Colt Canyon is really just what the doctor ordered to kick off 2021. A breezy and consistently satisfying twin-stick shooter roguelike with a surprising amount of depth and where gunfights, stealth murder and dynamite powered destruction go hand in hand, Colt Canyon is a smart, wild west shooter that's well worth saddling up for.

For very little money, if you like slide puzzle games then you'll love Beats Slider. If you don't then you probably should avoid it. Beats Slider is available now exclusively on PlayStation Mobile.

A fantastic turn based RPG whose colorful characters and vegetable puns belie the deep RPG mechanics that are planted beneath the surface. If you love terrible puns and space exploration, be sure to turnip for this one. I loved it from my head tomatoes.

Split Fiction is a damn good time. It has problems inherent to the gameplay, like checkpoint issues and overly taxing boss fights that don't visually work well in split screen. There are ways around it if you have the hardware, and the game does help keep things moving forward.

Funny and downright mental, DeathSpank is a refreshing RPG that never fails to entertain.

A strong entry now in the franchise's 20th year. It's probably one of the better NCAA games in recent history, but not a huge upgrade over last year's edition. Online is strong and there is little delay or lag during gameplay.

Worthy of a Class-A Hero! One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is a solid fighting game experience wrapped in nostalgia and callbacks to the animated source material. Fans of the anime will love to be able to play as their favorite characters and add their own flair to this over the top world of heroes and monsters. Despite some drawbacks the game is a fun way to immerse yourself in the world of One Punch Man and feel like a true Hero.

The Foundation DLC for Control brings a new floor to explore, a new enemy type, and a few new powers for Jesse that don’t add up to very much. But, it also brings more Control – with all of its wonders and faults. Jesse is just doing her job at this point, but that job is pretty bizarre and fun. Just don’t expect world-changing innovation, and you’ll enjoy The Foundation just fine.

It's always hard to break out with a new IP, but Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is worth your attention, but you better have a big attention span as there is so much to do and see, you may run around for hours like a chicken with its head cut off.

The pick up and play nature of Prison Architect in tandem with its wealth of gameplay options make this title far outshine its few flaws with a charming and engaging overall package.

Another fine addition to the Alien franchise's video game legacy. Technical troubles and a stiff learning curve can act as a deterrent, but the more time you spend in Aliens Dark Descent's company, the more impressive it becomes.

The PlayStation brand has something special in God Eater Resurrection, and developing the franchise even more would be a godsend. With little holding it back, Resurrection makes a strong statement on how the hunter genre should be.

A performance cleanup thanks to PS5’s added juice coupled with some well-implemented usage of the DualSense controller means that Sony’s newest console is the best place to play Young Horses’ second indie offering, and it ensures that we’ll be ‘talkin’ ‘bout Bugsnax’ for a while yet.

Mostly more of the same, but better refined, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is great fan service and highly entertaining family fun. Easily the best regular LEGO title for a while.

ROBOBEAT manages to convincingly blend the rhythm game genre with roguelike shooters to create a mix that I hadn’t ever considered before. It banks on the spectacle of synchronised action and does so with explosive results. While I don’t necessarily think the aesthetic manages to stand the test of repeated playthroughs, what is here is commendable and certainly well-conceived.

A gripping survival adventure packed with solid puzzle design and meaningful decision-making.

Cloudpunk is a fantastic sci-fi dystopia, with some great writing and voice-acting which helps bring the stories of the people of Nivalis to life. Whilst the experience can get a bit repetitive the excellence elsewhere ensures it is worth experiencing.

A resoundingly confident continuation of 2016’s Game of the Year, Death of the Outsider is a worthy addition to the Dishonored pantheon.

An adorably charming action RPG, Cat Quest might not hold a great deal of challenge for veterans, but youngsters, genre newbies and especially cat owners will find much to love in its epic tale of furious furries.

Project CARS 2 is one hell of a colossal mammoth of a game. The scope of the driving series available, the car and track selection from classic to the modern era, the weather, the brilliant online championship mode, it’s all there, ready-in-waiting. Whether you play it for the single player or for the multiplayer, this game has everything.

Saturnalia is a striking homage to Giallo films and makes effective use of Italian folklore to power its horror. It’s often better in the ideas than it is in practice, but those are some damn good ideas.

The Long Dark is a shot in the arm for the survival game. The story mode is a decent addition, adding some mystique to the cold wilds, yet it currently doesn’t trump the personal stories you create outside of it in survival mode, where joy, hope, dread, terror, and despair come in unpredictable waves. The game’s harsh, grounded style will divide opinion, but it truly feels like a fresh perspective that incorporates the risks and rewards of survival and exploration.

Curse of the Dead Gods' mechanics work together and mesh excellently, with the dark oppressive narrative and atmosphere really creating a unique gameplay experience, with the features on offer. A lot of variation and the ability to tune your character helps it stand out during the less enjoyable difficulty spikes the game suffers with towards the end.

Might not be perfect, but in resurrecting a very specific sort of puzzle adventure that the industry has seemingly forgotten, Gareth Noyce’s heartfelt love-letter to the past succeeds in weaving a yarn which manages to feel both fresh and compelling at the same time. This is the isometric platform puzzler you never knew you wanted.

Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force added much needed and requested changes, but not everything seems to have been addressed with this re-release. The different paths you are able to take add more depth to the already well told story.
