Red Dead Redemption 2 is not just a great game, it's a digital artwork that completely blurs the line between movies and games with ground-breaking gameplay and storytelling, stunning images and an unprecedented living world with a lot to discover.

Grand Theft Auto V shows how to bring a PS3 title to the PS4 the right way. With a vastly improved open-world containing more traffic density, pedestrians and better graphics. GTA V is among the most beautiful games available on the PS4. Innovation is key with GTA V, with not only the three protagonists, but now also the addition of a very well done first-person mode.

FromSoftware is back with Elden Ring and although we had to wait a long time, it was worth it. The new approach with an open world works particularly well and that is partly due to the strong gameplay and beautiful environments that excel especially in style. In addition, the many bosses are incredibly cool and the soundtrack is fantastic. A must have, but know that the PS5 version has to contend with frame rate issues.

Baldur's Gate 3 offers fans of tactical RPGs and, of course, fans of Dungeons & Dragons a valhalla of gameplay that fits seamlessly into the universe. The many stories, the freedom, the in-depth lore, the challenging combat, the audio-visual decoration, the fun to play; Baldur's Gate 3 has it all together. Just know that the barrier to entry for newcomers in particular is a bit high and there are some minor technical issues, but thankfully these are more than overshadowed by the excellent experience the game offers.

We had to wait 6 years for it, but it will be rewarded. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is bigger, better, more fun, more varied and more exciting than its predecessor. The game features gorgeous music, huge variety in gameplay and creative new abilities that open up many new possibilities. In terms of performance, the age of the handheld does begin to take its toll, for example, the performance is not optimal. In addition, the dungeons are not that special, but that is the only thing to note about an otherwise sublime game. In short: everyone who owns a Nintendo Switch must buy this game.

Hopefully not the last great game of this generation, but definitely one of the best of them. Nobody should miss out on this jaw-dropping masterpiece of epic proportions.

With Astro Bot, Team Asobi puts out a peerless platformer that doesn't really do anything wrong. The gameplay, the music, the graphics, the variety, the fun, the cameos, the adventure, it is a near-perfect execution of a 3D platformer. Did you like Astro's Playroom? Then this is definitely a must-have. One of the most fun games of this year.

Irrational Games did the impossible. They've created a world that rivals Rapture and built a story around it that is bound to intrigue everyone who picks this game up. The ending is an instant classic. The gameplay is challenging and varied, the graphics are fine (not perfect though) and both voice acting and soundtrack is extremely memorable. Buy this, you absolutely won't regret it.

Kratos has returned in a beautiful new adventure. Forget all previous iterations, this game sets the new franchise standard in which story, combat and exploration are expertly interwoven in spectacular fashion. The game looks and plays stellar while the voice acting is of mind-blowing quality. Atreus is a great addition and together with the new approach to gameplay the latest PlayStation 4 God of War game feels like a breath of fresh air. An unmissable must-play.

Kratos and Atreus continue their journey in a new adventure that delivers dozens of hours of gameplay. God of War: Ragnarök mainly offers more of the same as you played the previous part, but in every way slightly more refined, better and more extensive. Do not expect major innovations, but that is not a bad thing. The gameplay is wonderfully smooth in combat thanks to the excellent performance. The alternation between exploring, puzzling and the many dialogues means that you will not be bored for a second, thanks in part to the very diversely designed realms that you will visit. Add to that magnificent voice acting, a strong soundtrack and impressive graphic presentation and the message is clear: God of War: Ragnarök is a worthy sequel that you can buy blindly.

Developers worldwide, pay attention: this is how you do DLC. As innovative as it is addictive, XCOM 2: War of the Chosen not only manages to meet expectations... It thoroughly exceeds them.

Naughty Dog has given the PlayStation 4 a phenomenal swan song. The gameplay may be more of the same, but the amazing story and incredibly detailed world make up for that big time! The Last of Us Part II comes close to perfection. A must have, beyond doubt.

Great characters, hilarious dialogue and a world worth exploring, that's Hades. Chaotic combat with lots of different options to keep players engaged, that's also Hades. In other words, Hades is an absolute must play.

Persona 5 delivers on its lofty promises with an emotional story, deep and innovative gameplay elements, and a unique style. It's as good as the series has ever gotten - and perhaps even better.

This. This is how you make sure the final chapter of a franchise delivers. A truly epic masterpiece, Metal Gear Solid V is Hideo Kojima signing off the only way he knows how: in style.

Capcom does it again. After a previously sublime remake of Resident Evil 2, they raise the bar even higher with the remake of Resident Evil 4. The combat is more varied than ever, there is plenty to explore, the level design is fantastic, the graphics are stunning, the audio is fantastic and we could go on and on. One of the best games of this year to date and a must play.

Games don't get any better than this. An absolute masterpiece from Naughty Dog and a great conclusion to a great franchise.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is Sandfall Interactive's debut game, and what a debut! The engaging emotional story grabs you right away, the combat is delightful and the unique play styles for each character make it continuously interesting. Add to that a wonderful soundtrack and brilliant experience and it could hardly get any better. That there are some minor flaws we'll take for granted, because this game is definitely worth it.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth follows in the footsteps of its predecessor and honours one of the greatest RPGs of all time with another fantastic reimagination. The story is still as enticing and entertaining as it was before, but the unknown variables that this version adds to that, turn Rebirth into an entirely new adventure, even for fans of the original. There’s lots of stuff to do (fun minigames and side quests) and you won’t be bored, despite some areas being a bit too ‘empty’ from time to time and some blurry visuals. These are minor issues though, because Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a must-play in the genre.

The design of the levels, the variety, the gameplay, the soundtrack, the visual presentation.... Nintendo delivers with Super Mario Bros. Wonder a delightful 2D platformer that can safely be called a must have. Although for hardcore fans it is a bit on the easy side, so it could have been more challenging. In addition, some gameplay features are not all meaningful or useful, but that aside.

Challenging, intriguing and extremely dark... Bloodborne is an experience that nobody should miss out on. A masterpiece.

We can't turn a blind eye to the sporadically unfair AI, but that is also the only genuinely bad thing we have to say about Forza Horizon 5, a phenomenal racing game that excels on almost every front which makes this one of the best race games to date. This is a must have: a love letter to racing and pure, unadulterated fun.

Capcom delivers a delightful fighting game with Street Fighter 6. The gameplay is top notch, the presentation is excellent, the game is well-stocked with modes, the roster is extensive, the online experience is flawless and we could go on and on. Every self-respecting gamer and fighting game enthusiast should get Street Fighter 6.

Gigantic world, intriguing story, enjoyable combat and quest overload... that's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. An action RPG fan's dream come true.

Lovingly remade and adapted to our day and age, this classic title is a must-buy for every PS5-owner. It still feels a bit dated, at times... but don’t let that spoil your fun.

The PlayStation 4 version is an excellent conversion from an already great PC game. Very engaging gameplay with plenty of lore to discover. Great humor, lots of challenge and we could go on and on about its qualities. The graphical performance isn't consistent however but that shouldn't detract you from what is a fantastic game. You need to play this game.

Metaphor ReFantazio comes with an interesting story, an outstanding soundtrack, beautiful visual style, engaging gameplay and an exciting adventure. Everything you expect from the game is delivered with a wonderful package that guarantees hours of fun. For this developer, it's mostly more of the same, as it doesn't do anything truly original, but what it does is top notch.

Tekken 8 brings everything you desire from a new game in the franchise. A fantastic story mode, lots of options, fighters and possibilities. Fine, refreshing gameplay and good online functionalities. The few minor downsides the game has are that the character customization isn't that captivating and the rollback netcode could be just a little bit better for the perfect experience. That being said, Tekken 8 is a must have.

A fantastic game everyone should give a try. Be warned, though - you might just end up losing a big part of your social life and spend it (literally) walking around the vast continent of Pandora.

This expansion brings a phenomenal story set in a fun new environment and offers Trials that are truly worth your time and effort. When push comes to shove, however, Shadowbringers is mainly more of the same in a good way.

Still one of the best games ever made... Made even better by PS4 technology. Shame the camera still doesn't entirely act the way it should, but besides that an absolute must have thanks to the unique experience, magical soundtrack and outstanding overhauled graphics.

This is how you create DLC worth buying. Absolutely brilliant.

Hazelight does it again: delivering a brilliant co-op experience that is full of variety in environments and gameplay. The compelling story captivates from start to finish and the challenge is more than fine. If you enjoyed this developer's previous games, Split Fiction certainly won't disappoint. The overall package is more than fine, although it could have had just a little more interaction for that finishing touch. But that's just a minor detail.

An awesome puzzle game with a fascinating style and a dark, but intriguing storyline. Fans of Limbo shouldn't hesitate.

After the formidable Origins, Ubisoft continues the rebooted Rayman franchise with Legends. Once again, the developer hits it out of the park. The interesting art style, the fun and accessible gameplay, and the gleeful soundtrack all add to the overall experience. It's a shame that there is no online multiplayer, but a number of competitive challenges more than make up for it.

Resident Evil 2 is a home run. There's just no other way to put it. By taking the heart and spirit of the 1998 original and combining it with the gameplay thrills of Resident Evil 4, Capcom has managed to outdo itself and in the process: make zombies scary once more. An early contender for Game of the Year.

Donkey Kong is getting his own 3D action-adventure, and it turns out great. The level destruction feels satisfying, the stages are varied, the presentation is vibrant and colorful, and there’s an incredible amount to do. The fact that the game might be a bit on the easy side is a shame in terms of challenge, but that’s literally the only point of criticism. Looking for an excellent game for the Nintendo Switch 2? Then Donkey Kong Bananza is an absolute must-play.

The most enjoyable near-death experience you're likely to get, though you'll suffer almost as much from the loading times than you'll do from dying over and over again.

Blizzard once again proves they're capable of anything, delivering an amazing colorful shooter that's worth every penny you spend on it. Shame there's no single-player mode though; we'd love to know more about these characters.

Far Cry 3 is definitely one of the best shooters of the year, if not simply the best. Its environment is huge, the surprises and discoveries it offers plenty. The story is solid, the action superb and the RPG-elements well implemented. A must have for every shooter fan.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 continues on the foundation of the previous two games, augmented by new environments, features and combat. This provides more variety and the web slinging is even more refined thanks to new features. Still, the game is more of the same at some parts, and at a technical level there are some issues. That being said, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a delightful game that every PlayStation gamer should definitely play.

The world's most famous flightsim has flown to the Xbox and stuck the landing. Deep gameplay and a diverse offering of planes make for hours upon hours of virtual pilot fun. You'll have to overlook some performance issues, though.

Fez was already a great game when it appeared on Xbox Live two years ago and this hasn't changed on PlayStation. It's still a challenging puzzle game with varied gameplay and a unique look. If you haven't played this before, you should definitely check it out.

Especially enjoyable in co-op, Monster Hunter World offers a tremendous amount of challenge and exploration, enough to keep fans busy for months or years to come. If not for the limited crafting options and graphical glitches, this game might have warranted a perfect score.

Technically, this isn't a marvel, though as a closing chapter to this wonderful series, it delivers where it counts.

It took a long time, but Croteam has finally brought us a sequel to The Talos Principle. Expect a hefty amount of fun puzzles, interesting philosophical discussions and beautiful environments to enjoy. Everything you knew from the original is in this game, but better. It is unfortunate that the frame rate is not stable and the game has pop-in, but that is fairly negligible against the experience in the end, because as an overall package it is fantastic.

With a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, From Software presents an adventure that will keep you fascinated with fast action, exploration and stealth.

NBA 2K13 proves that soccer games are not the only ones nearing perfection. This game offers a great virtual basketball experience, with smooth controls, a strong graphical presentation and an enormous amount of content.

One of the best VR games ever thanks to immensely creative level design, excellent bosses, great audiovisual style, an enormous amount of content and we could go on and on. If you have a PlayStation VR headset, this game is essential.

A well-developed game and a nice continuation of the XCOM franchise. There are some problems though: the graphics aren't what they could (and should) be and the game gets repetitive rather fast.

A truly great expansion that adds wonderful monsters, areas, gear and gameplay improvements to the base game. If you are even a little bit interested in the Monster Hunter franchise, you should buy Iceborne without a second thought.

A new story, a new setting, new mini-games (which are games in themselves), a good balance between drama and humor, delightful combat, strong presentation.... It is a sample of the many positives of this game. Ryu Ga Gotoku delivers an excellent game that is absolutely worth playing. That the game puts New Game+ behind a paywall, however, is a shame, but fortunately it offers enough content to see past that snafu. Fan or no fan of Like a Dragon: a must have.

The price tag is a bit steep, yet if you want a great virtual reality experience, you should look no further.

The story lacks depth, but the connection between the player and his Titan is worth the journey. The multiplayer, however, is almost worth the price tag on its own.

It's not very innovating, but then again it doesn't need to be. Without reinventing the wheel, Dark Souls III manages to one-up its predecessor and crown itself the best game in a remarkable franchise.

The story of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 drags you into an adventure that won't bore you for a second during 70 hours of gameplay. The different characters are varied and all very engaging. The soundtrack is magnificent and the world has a lot to discover and do. The combat also has enough to offer to keep you entertained for a long time and although battles are sometimes a bit too chaotic, this is something you can live with. You do have to take into account a relatively low resolution, but that is mainly due to the hardware. That being said, this is a must-have for the Nintendo Switch that you can buy blindly.

We all know the game, we all know its rules... but in VR, Tetris still manages to surprise. Kudos to the dynamic use of colours, which really lifts this game to a whole new level.

Isaac Clarke's original adventure is back in a new format, which has more depth in story and freedom in terms of gameplay. As a result, the game is recognizable, yet not the same which makes for a nice result. The game also has impressive graphics and the audio is unnervingly strong. That the game has some minor flaws we take for granted, because this horror adventure is recommended to everyone.

With the second installment, Kojima builds on the basics of the original, but also manages to surprise with a rock-solid story, memorable characters, a beautiful game world, lots of features and so on. It's Kojima all over again, resulting in a brilliant game that's absolutely worth playing, with the note that the combat feels a bit uncomfortable, but that's okay considering the overall quality is top notch.

We can't say why Dishonored exceeds all expectations in a few sentences. Just buy it and lose yourself into the city of Dunwall, the most interesting videogame setting since BioShock's Rapture.

Dreams gives you nearly unlimited tools to create your own game or just fool around with. The result is astonishingly deep and remarkably accessible, thanks to a list of detailed, comprehensive tutorials. On top of that, other people’s often bizarre creations provide you with a seemingly endless amount of content - and will keep on doing that for many years to come.

This amazing RPG should have a place in every gamer's collection.

Vicarious Visions delivers what everyone wished for and then some. Offering classic gameplay with some necessary tweaks and innovations, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a phenomenal experience, worth playing for fans of the old games and newcomers alike.

Alan Wake II scores sublimely on almost all counts. The story is rock solid, the atmosphere is incredibly creepy, the level design is wonderfully strong and technically it is impressive. That some minor details and gameplay elements then stand out from the rest, however, is so minimalistic that the end result stands as strong as a house. Fan of the franchise, of horror games or up for a psychological thriller trip, Alan Wake II is the game to go for.

Beautiful graphics, an intriguing singleplayer campaign and rock-solid multiplayer modes that deliver in every way imaginable... Battlefield 1 is the best game the franchise has delivered in years.

A great story, outstanding visuals and very enjoyable gameplay. Brilliant in every single way. Guerrilla once more cements its reputation as one of PlayStation's very best developers.

The ultimate version of an already fantastic game, the special edition of Devil May Cry 5 looks great, sounds great and - you guessed it - plays pretty damn great as well. Adding Vergil as a playable character is the icing on this delicious cake. A true must-buy.

Monster Hunter is back and manages to impress with its sophisticated gameplay, new and old monsters, implementation of Focus Strikes and good sound. The package also has plenty to offer in game hours, giving you a long run with or without friends. In that respect, exactly what you expect from Monster Hunter, but know that the performance is underwhelming and the interface could have been a lot more intuitive.

Giant Sparrow delivers again, with an atmospheric and unique walking simulator that will occupy your thoughts for a long while.

Not exactly the dream sequel fans of NieR were expecting, but still a highly enjoyable experience, thanks in part to the intriguing stories, the fluent gameplay and a wonderful soundtrack.

A rock solid game and a lot of extra content - including a VR expansion! - make this the ultimate edition of Rise of the Tom Raider. A must have for every fan of the franchise.

It Takes Two is one of the best co-op games we've ever played. The creativity is splashing and the adventure is incredibly entertaining thanks to the mix of all kinds of elements, locations and situations. It plays wonderfully and the variation in environments does the game well as it provides a good surprise effect, and does so time and time again. The presentation is also sublime with razor-sharp graphics that are incredibly colorful and that is complemented by a wonderful soundtrack that connects seamlessly with everything.

XCOM: Enemy within significantly expands on XCOM: Enemy Unknown and because of that, die hard fans or newcomers are advised to get it. It's a shame the developers didn't do anything about the bugs though, since they're still very present.

We didn't like going out of the animus, the mission structure gets repetitive real fast and the framerate isn't always as solid as it should be. Nevertheless, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag offers a great and varied experience, mostly thanks to the expertly designed world you get to explore.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a delightful platformer that pays homage to the series with fantastic gameplay and, at times, eye-poppingly beautiful graphics. It is an excellent and worthwhile game, but it still suffers from bugs and crashes. In addition, the visual quality is a bit inconsistent per planet, which makes the game a bit lacking. This is a pity, but it does not change the fact that this is a title worth playing. Put it in the “very good, but not perfect” category.

NBA 2K17 isn't the most forgiving experience for newcomers to the franchise, but if you know your virtual basketball, this is the one and only place to be this year.

The replay value is off the charts, as is Dishonored 2's layered tale and elaborate gameplay. The title improves upon its predecessor in just about every way imaginable.

Surviving the journey from PC to console by means of some truly ingenious controls, Divinity: Original Sin impresses on almost every level. Genre fans shouldn't hesitate.

Aloy's new adventure features a beautiful open world that invites immediate exploration. The many missions and side quests make it a delightful experience, thanks in part to the variety of enemies. In addition, the story is very compelling, but we can't ignore the fact that the game is not yet completely polished after the day one patch. There are many bugs and technical issues that can be annoying and that is a shame, but there is no doubt that the adventure in itself is more than worth it.

New and refreshing, Arkane Studios delivers quite a unique experience with Deathloop. Expert level design, interesting targets and a wide variety of gameplay options make for one hell of a title. And it looks great to boot! Some technical imperfections should be mentioned, however… as well as the bit underwhelming experience that is playing as Julianna. Nothing is perfect though, right?

Metroid Dread is a masterpiece. There's hardly another word for it. The artstyle? Phenomenal. Soundtrack and audio design? Phenomenal. Gameplay? You guessed it: phenomenal. What are you waiting for? Go and get it!

Fantastic over-the-top action, well designed characters with some good humor to boot and an interesting narrative make DMC5 a game that is not to miss, especially if you've been a fan of this franchise for years. Newcomers needn't worry either because a solid tutorial gives you all the info you'll need to stylishly smash all the devil spawn back to the depths of hell. The soundtrack and the cut scenes round things off nicely. The camera sometimes struggles to keep up and some of the environments can get a bit bland though. Capcom brings it's A game yet again. Recommended.

This remake of the originally Nintendo GameCube game is a must play if you don't have or haven't played the original game. The charm of the story and visual style will have you enjoying it, the soundtrack is on point and the story is engaging. However, it is noticeable that some animations have disappeared and in addition, it is a bit weird to play the game at a lower fps count compared to the original one. A missed opportunity. But don't let that stop you from considering getting this game.

It's been a long time coming but Owlboy has finally landed on PlayStation 4 and we are more than glad it did. The music is phenomenal. Gameplay is varied and entertaining and the boss fights especially never cease to amaze and surprise. Towards the end of the game the challenge does become a bit too steep occasionally but don't let that stop you from playing this game because Owlboy is worth every minute of your precious time.

It's a bit short and it doesn't look as good as its console counterpart, but other than that this is a great portable LBP game. You'll be making levels from the palm of your hand now... and you'll be surprised at how well it works.

Pretty much the best soccer game up to date. There's still room for improvement though... then again, there always will be.

The ideal party game for PlayStation VR, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes scores with its original concept and enjoyable multiplayer.

A unique puzzle game with great visuals, ditto with sound design and brilliantly thought-out levels. The frame drops get annoying at times, but fortunately this never breaks the experience.

Hi-Fi Rush was an instant hit on the Xbox and PC last year, and rightfully so; it is an excellent game. This PS5 version doesn't change that. The highly entertaining combat, good humor, cool atmosphere and fine performance make it an outright winner. Game not played yet? Then we can immediately recommend Hi-Fi Rush.

Nex Machina might be Housemarque's best game so far. There's a lot of fun to be had here, especially in Arena Mode. If you're at all interested, don't hesitate.

If you like the Souls games, you'll probably enjoy NioH, a title that manages to impress with strong combat, wonderful level design and intriguing lore.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 builds on the foundation of the original, delivering an excellent adventure. The world is gorgeous and inviting to explore, the characters are engaging, interesting and fun, with humor not shunned. In addition, the gameplay is incredibly deep, if a bit inconsistent at times. The performance is also not always stable, but these are blemishes on a whole that is otherwise well worth playing.

We've gotten quite emotionally invested into the characters of this great videogame series and now Telltale delivers a worthy pay-off. You won't forget this anytime soon, we promise - and neither will you regret a purchase.

A remake that is outstanding on every level. The pacing is nice, the combat system is good, the story is strong, graphically it is beautiful, the soundtrack is cool and the voice-acting fine. It's a shame though that the FES and Portable content is not present, because that would have really completed the package. Also, in terms of design, the dungeons can get a bit monotonous over time, but that's literally the only 'downside'. In short, Persona 3 Reload is not something you want to miss!

It's addictive and fun, even if it lacks innovation and any real graphical prowess.

Once more, NetherRealm hits it out of the park. Injustice 2 feels like a natural successor to its predecessor - bigger, better and bolder, with an in-depth RPG-like customization system to boot. Get this, if you haven't already.

We've been waiting for it for a long time, but The Witness is ultimately worth it. The puzzles offer a lot of challenge and the wonderfully-realized, yet mysterious world is a lot of fun to hang out in. If you're into the genre, you shouldn't hesitate.

It's taken a while, but we've finally got a decent Civilization game for consoles. The controls are fine, the gameplay's deep and challenging, and while the graphics aren't exactly top of the bill, they won't hurt the experience either. Good job.
