An exceptionally good expansion that adds in a mountain of new content that specifically addresses the few flaws there were with the original.

War of the Chosen contains so much new content that it could almost have been called XCOM 3. Every mission dishes out a new enemy, mission type, or environment, which allows the game to remain fresh for several dozen hours. War of the Chosen’s wealth of interwoven systems might overwhelm newcomers, but strategy nerds willing to master the nuances will be treated to one of the most rewarding strategy games in years. I don’t know how Firaxis could make a more complex yet gratifying strategy game, but I can’t wait to see them try.

An old-school expansion pack, improving the game all-around in ways no simple DLC could have achieved. XCOM 2 was great to begin with, and the new content brings it straight to the Olympus of turn-based strategy games.

While the game doesn’t run optimally (some framerate chugging and stutters are quite prevalent, especially in areas with a lot of special effects) the upgraded, enhanced formula that XCOM 2: War of the Chosen offers is absolutely superb. I was fully engaged in this rebellion against humanity’s extraterrestrial overlords, and I’d have no hesitation recommending it to anyone in search of a top-tier tactics experience. And for those, like me, who bounced off of the original XCOM 2? It’s absolutely worth coming back.

War of the Chosen overhauls the already fabulous XCOM 2 and turns it into absolutely essential fare. The introduction of the Chosen, the soldier bonding system, and the photobooth mode, are perfect additions in that they amplify the base game’s best qualities. It’s just a shame the shine is dulled ever so slightly by a bunch of needless technical issues.

Developers worldwide, pay attention: this is how you do DLC. As innovative as it is addictive, XCOM 2: War of the Chosen not only manages to meet expectations... It thoroughly exceeds them.

I like the extra variation in missions and tools. It's good to get some modifiers to start the game with too (though number rather limited compared to Enemy Unknown)
As for the titular chosen: they're an OK addition, but not great. 2 of the 3 just stand at the other end of the map spawning extra enemies on top of the regular mission, a bit lame.
To defeat them finally, you have to go through a very bulletspongy endrun, that was not enjoyable either.
Game also had a runtime which is a bit too long per run for my taste.

to the devs: Fix the bug which deletes the ironman save when the game crashes!!! for the rest: great game.

Now this is what i call an expansion. This made me replay the game almost completely. You could say its more like XCOM 2 2.0 actually. I didNow this is what i call an expansion. This made me replay the game almost completely. You could say its more like XCOM 2 2.0 actually. I did not experience bugs like other players seem to have so i cant take that in account of my review. The new classes are fun and add depth to the game and it helps with the repetitiveness to. I only wish it wasn't so damn expensive. Expand

The War Of The Chosen DLC of XCOM 2 should enhance the game and make it better.
It does enhance the game but not by much. And I have to say:

It does enhance the game but not by much. And I have to say:
The bugs were never worse and more prevalent and the game now crashes at least three times as often - on PS4 of all platforms! How does a developer manage to optimize a game on unified hardware so badly that it performs this BAAAAAAD?!

XCOM 2 on its own feels like a second rate indie-title which tries very hard to look like a double-A title. Since Firaxis should earn enough with this franchise to be at least able to polish it ten times as much as they seem to care for and they should be able to hire people who at least know what is fun for people to use, not just to play ;) - the engine delivers a very messy performance and the UI is a total catastrophe on every level - I am astounded that these guys are still in business. I have to say!
Since NONE of XCOM 2's more pressing issues were adressed with this title and no bigger changes made AND Firaxis manages to worsen the performance of the engine overall ... THIS DLC REALLY SHOULD NOT EXIST! PERIOD!

Well, if Firaxis is planning on making a third entry to this franchise ... they should start from scratch! This is quite honestly intelligence-insulting. Nothing more. If you make a game for people who like to think and plan ahead, you should at least try and make something that people who pay attention to detail can enjoy. Instead of rubbing EVERYONE the wrong way, dear ... "Firaxis" ;)

Textures not loading everywhere, corrupt textures on maps, messed up particle effects, framerate drops all the time, choppy animations and camera movement. It's frustrating because I love everything about War of the Chosen, and I don't know if the problem is the PS4's capability, but I feel that as soon as these issues are patched the game is going to be near perfect.
