Stellaris successfully brings Paradox grand strategies to interstellar level, but feels at this stage too barebones at places. While the early game exploration and expansion is interesting and tense, and the late game crises bring welcome change to a step in 4X games that often becomes boring mopping up, the mid game is too often a boring slog with too few things happening both with your own empire and your passive neighbours. The feeling is further strengthened by the lack of espionage and any real internal or external trading. I have faith that Stellaris will improve greatly with patches and DLC, as Paradox games have done, but for now Stellaris is only an another decent game in its genre. [June/July 2016]

Looks just absolutely amazing on PC. Too bad the gameplay repeats itself to death: the same static duck and cover firefights get old pretty fast. Luckily the co-op multiplayer is great fun and the brilliant visuals keep players interested enough till the credits roll. [Dec 2007]

Mass Effect 3: Leviathan has some interesting lore for Mass Effect buffs, too bad most of it was already revealed in the Extended Cut DLC. The combination of detective work and action is fun none the less. It doesn't come close to the greatness of ME2's Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, but it's still worth the price. [Sept 2012]

Pokémon Conquest is a better game than the idea of fusing Pokemon with Nobunaga's Ambition originally sounded like. Although the difficulty level is set low enough for kids to manage, even grown ups can enjoy Conquest's take on tactical battles and Pokemon training. [Sept 2012]

A nice combat flight simulator. It's not as deep as the PC counterparts, but the flying is quite realistic nonetheless. The campaign missions need some permanent checkpoints and the versus multiplayer could be more varied, though. [May 2012]

The first thing you do when you start scribbling with Wii U, is to turn of the television. This game is best played with the uPad and unfortunately you are chained to the living room. The game is still good fun, but a home console isn't the best possible platform for this type of game. [May 2013]

The Wonderful 101 is a rollercoaster of emotions. When it's good, it's superb, but when it's bad, it's so frustrating you feel like throwing your gamepad into the wall. [Sept 2013]

EA Sports makes a successful return to street football. FIFA Street is a fluid and enjoyable experience, although it lacks the depth of its father. Bring aboard a friend or two to enjoy it even more. [May 2012]

Blacklist suffers from the fact that it's way too tempting to shoot your way out of a tough situation. The incentive to sneak is mostly missing and the cramped level design doesn't help. Still, Blacklist has some pretty fun levels and nice free-form gameplay. [Sept 2013]

First Light is a solid expansion to the inFamous franchise, but it sort of wastes some it's potential. The storyline is almost painfully predictable. While Fetch's fragility is endearing, she comes off as a rather weak protagonist. [Oct 2014]

Super Hexagon is not a game you'll play for months on end. It's not a significant step in the evolution of games as an art form. But damn if it isn't astounding that a game this simple can be such a joy to play! As a small-scale time waster it's pretty much perfect. [May 2013]

There is not anything new in the latest incarnation of Bomberman, but it does not really matter much. The multiplayer mode has plenty of variety, and we do need the grandfather also on PSP to entertain us and to keep our reflexes sharp. [Mar 2007]

Napoleon: Total War is remake of the Empire: Total War. Both games have same weaknesses and strengths but the Napoleon version is more polished of the two. [Apr 2010]

A puzzle-platformer that tries a bit too hard to be the next Braid. While not as good, the twisted black & white visuals and solid gameplay will keep you entertained for a while. [Apr 2010]

Brütal Legend is a game for the metalheads. The imagery and legends of heavy metal have been beautifully crafted into every part of the game world and story, but fun as it is, the game tries to be a bit too many things at once. The action and sandbox parts work well, but the RTS sections feel clunky and forced. Still, if you love metal, this game is worth your time. [Nov 2010]
