Skylanders Giants delivers what would easily have been the best toy/game of my childhood and I can foresee this being the game that gets a lot of young kids into the medium. The fact that it looks and sounds great and has amazing quality toys to go along with it only sweetens the deal.

No doubt about it, you'll definitely get your money's worth here. It may not be the most memorable or challenging RPG you'll play, and is definitely not without its frustrations, but Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is a respectable package - with sufficient character and quality to hold your interest right through to the end. It's a good game for younger players to cut their RPG teeth on… and for the fans, of course.

This is a Star Wars game that reminds you how brilliant Mr. Lucas’ creations can be. But I can’t stress this enough – there are plenty of frustrations to be encountered amongst the brilliance too.

Viewed as a standalone title, Silent Hill: Homecoming is extremely competent, but as a sequel, it falls short of progressing the series in any meaningful way.

Big splash in the grand scheme of quarter four 2009? No. Big splash on the Wii? For what it is, absolutely.

In the end, The Godfather II has the recipe for an excellent game filled with action, mindless violence, great characters and strategic thought. But you just can’t help but shake the feeling that it doesn’t quite feel 100% finished.

Worth the price, worth the time, and worth the last level.

It’s hard to say whether Battlefront II will have any longevity or depth in the multiplayer department. A lot of it will depend on how EA proceed with loot boxes and DLC over the coming months, and they’ve already drastically changed things (we think for the better) in the first week of release. Yes, Star Wars fans will leap at the chance to enter a galaxy far, far away – and even casual players will appreciate the quick accessibility of multiplayer matches. But those looking for a deeper, more nuanced and balanced online experience might need to look elsewhere if things don’t improve further.

All up though, Speed Racer is colourful, funny, has good music and the graphics still hold up on the aging PS2. In fact, I would go so far as to say Speed Racer makes a much better game than it does a movie.

You can’t be a master of everything, and Tom Happ has cleared mastered the exploration element, level design, and sense of progression - the most fundamental parts of a Metroidvania game.

Zen Pinball and their latest Star Wars offering is a fascinating blend of old-school gaming with the level of interactivity that can be obtained on a console. Despite the repetitive nature of only needing to hit two buttons, there is definitely room to hone your skills and maximise your high scores as you understand the table layout and improve your reflexes. If you remember the good old days of tilting and yelling at an old pinball table in an arcade parlour, Zen are definitely keeping the spirit alive here.

There is little doubt that The 40th Day packs in a barrel load of action and is an ideal way to bond with a male friend over a couple of beers and some beef jerky.

It’s not a ground-breaking title, and those last few levels almost had me rage-quitting, but the traits allow for some fun strategies and if you’re wanting an enjoyable sci-fi story with your TBS/RPG elements, then Halfway is more than worth the miniscule price being asked for it. I look forward to the sequel (please).

Great in sprints, but tedium might put off players looking for deeper experiences.

A simple, additive game and one which we found was a lot of fun to play.

As a zombie twin-stick shooter it gets the job done, but its qualities are lessened by lost potential. Nothing jumps out at you, and everything seems to have been done better in other games.

Sadly, whoever picks this up will find something to dislike, from an over-reliance on cutscenes to watered down fights, or the fact that smaller details are only found in the anime. What we have here is a title that is trying to be the best Naruto game ever made, but is held back due to not knowing what kind of game it wants to be; this is made even more frustrating by the fact that it comes so close.

It ain't a revolution, folks, but racing on ice probably isn't something you're going to get to do in real life, so you take what you can get.

If you're looking for a mental gym, Smart As is a good option. It's fun, well put together, and you'll look forward to your daily workout. Frustrations aside, it's well worth a look.

Not an overhaul, but a refinement.

It looks nice, moves at a good clip and you always feel like you’re able to control the car and know exactly when you lose your grip. The Flashback feature feels like something with a lot of promise and we can’t wait to see what the next racing game that rolls out of the garage at Codemasters will be like.

If you’re stuck playing PayDay 2 in singleplayer, or if connection problems and waiting for players to join drives you crazy, you’ll want to do the same.

The Warriors series has a special place in my heart, and is easily something you could judge by face value for being too much of the same thing, or just another musou. It’s not completely different from its predecessors, but there are definitely no two alike, especially with the emotional story locked up in each. Go get the game and give yourself a weekend with it, especially if you’re now the one wheezing.

The unashamedly jovial and fun tone of Batman: The Brave and the Bold is sure to please gamers young and old.

As I mentioned, the boss fights and characters in the game have their own style and charm, and the graphics and pacing of the game is, for the most part, spot on. While the game doesn’t reach the heights of Sonic Adventure, it does manage to fit nicely alongside most of the recent Sonic offerings.

There is still no denying that Afro Samurai is an entertaining visual treat. The aesthetics of the game are a joy to behold and when you get into the zone you are bound to witness gory scenes of pure awesomeness.

It brings a sense of passion and build-up to a football match which EA Sports haven’t captured as of late.

The concept is good and the combination of play styles almost works; however the driving and chase aspects of the game really let it down. When you strip away this and the action elements of the game, it is basically a puzzle solver.
