If you like your RPGs old-school with plenty of Tolkien and Dungeon Master mixed in with sword wielding warrior women and moody elves, then Dragon Age is for you.

My biggest gripe with Tales of Vesperia is cosmetic, so let me say that while it bugs the hell out of me, it doesn't detract from the overall playability of the title. The writing, and the voice acting, is pretty effing terrible.

What changes you do find in Tiger Woods 08 are positive; however, it’s just the fact that there is more polish needed to make this title really stand out.

Obsidian Entertainment have managed to have the ante upped, and I feel the entire story told throughout Parts One and Two place The White March on a higher pedestal than most expansions, especially these days. This DLC is more than worth the asking price.

Driveclub Bikes is a solid DLC. When promised extra content starts pouring in, like the trophies and unusable cars, there’s no telling how much better Driveclub Bikes might get.

Despite these bugs, I’m still impressed with the quality of Doom on the Switch. The singleplayer campaign – with it’s replay value and multiple difficulties – easily makes it worth the price tag. It is a must play for Switch owners clamouring for some hyperviolence on their train rides.

It's easy to recommend this game if you're a) a fan of the series, b) a fan of Lego titles, c) have children, or some combination of all those things.

Although it’s in no way game changing, Gears of War: Judgment is a fast paced, satisfyingly violent, action shooter.

Halo Wars 2 retains itself as serviceable fun, if only by being unbearably approachable, and enjoyably Halo.

Wonder Boy (Girl): The Dragon’s Trap is an excellent throwback to old school gaming but with a wonderfully adapted new paint job. You feel all the highs and lows of platformers in a family-friendly and super cute environment.

Ultimately this version of OutRun isn’t the most complete, and doesn’t have a huge amount of depth. What it does do well, though, is boil down the most exiting parts of the racing genre and deliver arcade-style thrills to your living room.

If you like survival horror games and you have a Wii, buy this immediately. Buy a second copy in case the first one wears out. If you don't have a Wii, hire one to play this. It's that good. Just don't play it alone - it's that good.

While ultimately echochrome ii is a sparse puzzler where you point a light source at a cluster of coloured blocks, it is so lovely, so seamless, and so enjoyable to play (not to mention bloody difficult at times), I'm adamant if you are going to purchase a Move this Christmas, echochrome ii is an absolute must-have.

Making what is a highly successful music driven rhythm game into a rhythm driven music game might seem like a potentially dangerous idea. But it works.

Aside from the impossible submission mechanic, and the prospect of being matched up online against someone far better than you, EA Sports UFC 2 is a serious sports sim. In all its bloody, knock-down, choke-out, primal glory.

The story flows too, as Faith unravels her mystery. Between the chapters, which are all go, are artfully animated cut-scenes, which explain what’s going on.

Compared to most games on the market, Madden NFL 12 is fantastic. But, what Madden is always compared to is last year's model. And in the end it's the same old game, with the same old caveat. If you have Madden 9, 10, or 11, you don't need to worry about 12.

If you're hankering for some classic Arkanoid-style action, but would like a game that adds a little depth and removes the end-level frustration, you've found it. And at just $5.95 / 15 MB, there's no excuse not to get it.

Monster Hunter Stories is a brilliant spin-off that captures the essence of Capcom’s successful series. The combination of a charming story with a deceptively deep combat system, creature collecting, and the trademark gameplay loop of gathering, crafting, and fighting makes for one of the best RPGs on the 3DS. It’s evident that a lot of love and attention has gone into Stories. The result is a delightful title that continues the success of the franchise.

Call of Duty: WW2 brings the series back to its roots, but parts falters when trying to find a balance between fun, and respect for the past. The singleplayer avoids the patriotic pitfalls previous games fell into, while injecting some much-needed humanity. But elements on the fringe of the multiplayer – the crass nature of the loot boxes when contrasted against a historically bloody setting – are at odds with this. Enjoying the game hinges on your ability to detach your appreciation for mechanics, from the dark subject matter.

It’s important to remember that this is the first episode of a new story arc, and as such, its main purpose is to introduce the new characters and set the scene for what’s to come. And it does a fantastic job with that - especially with one hell of a cliffhanger at the end.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 does not struggle. It's a great game with just the one perennial problem. If you bought last year's version, or any from the last three or four years, you don't need this.
