Ballistic SE definitely feels familiar, but it's like seeing an old friend. At the end of the day, this is a smartly designed and thrilling shooter, one we intend to play after finishing this review.

Gummy Drop is a solid match-three puzzle game. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much to differentiate itself from other titles in the genre. If you've grown tired of these types of games, we doubt this one will reel you in.

Your early moments with Flashout 3D are likely to involve a little frustration as you tease at the controls to find an acceptably smooth response. Persevere though, and you'll ultimately be rewarded with some of the most thrilling racing gameplay that mobiles have to offer.

Star Marine: Infinite Ammo satisfies the need for an arcade style shooter on the iPhone, delivering all the big guns, nasty bad guys and the grizzled hero one would expect. With that, grab that Ion Torch and come out firing.

The Dojo Mode, Ghost Mode, and Tekken Bowling are worth the price on their own, and the fighting looks and feels just like it always has.

This is a worthy successor to the original Candy Crush Saga with plenty for newcomers and old fans alike. Just don't be surprised if you end up with some cavities after playing for an extended period of time.

Still, there's no getting away from the fact that Where's My Mickey? represents everything that players of the previous games have come to expect - bags of levels, lots of challenge, and enough replay value to ensure that you won't even smart at the cost of the additional level packs. That will be enough for most.

There's an awful lot to like about Vampire Season: it's a beautifully drawn game, there's great variety in the cast of characters, and this is a game that knows better than to take itself too seriously. We did occasionally get annoyed with the rather out-of-control camera which can zoom into the action when you really don't want it too, but apart from that this is a very refreshing take on an increasingly stale genre.

Although Modern Warfare 2 is obviously superior, it's nice to see that DS owners have a great alternative with Mobilized. The gameplay is fun, and the presentation is jam-packed with excitement.

The fact that it's far from a perfect game and not much of a step forward doesn't make it any less of a must-buy. The core single-player adventure is guaranteed to occupy you for more than thirty hours, and the promise of extensive global trading and (surprisingly deep) Wi-Fi battling awaits those who complete the main storyline. Get this game.

The animation effects, while simple, are true to the nature of the game, right down to how the little gobs of mercury break up when you hit a divider or go around a wall a bit too fast.

Had there been more levels, Dark Void Zero would've been unbeatable. That said, you still shouldn't miss it, especially for three dollars.

Despite the fact that you'll need to pick up a DSi to play it (there's no plan for a cartridge version), Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! is an outstanding game.

Quite frankly, this game won't win any awards for originality, but that doesn't mean it's bad. On the contrary, Littlest Pet Shop does the franchise proud, and will definitely please fans eager to populate their towns with cuddly friends.

Even though the game is short, at $.99 the purchase is definitely worth it. The premise is original and executed quite well. However, don't go into this expecting a ton of content, because the game is very short, and although it does have a bit of replayability, players can expect to drain it of content in 5 or 6 hours.

It's not perfect, as it lacks a little bit in some areas and could use a little boosting on the loading time, but it's still the most comprehensive and enjoyable handheld version of the game yet.

Regardless of your experience with the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS should not be missed.

Big Time Gangsta may be a bit culturally insensitive, but it's still a surprisingly addictive App full of blood, guns and drugs. You know, exactly the type of experience the iPhone and iPad were made for.

What we can say for certain about Zombie HQ however is that it's a highly-accomplished and satisfyingly brutal arcade slasher that should leave even the most over-saturated fans of the undead genre feeling very happy indeed.

In other words, there's much to be enjoyed in Don't Shoot Yourself - just don't expect a welcome mat when you first arrive.

Zombie Road Trip does a fine job of following in the footsteps of previous App Store success stories in the genre. There's a far fairer sense of progression to be had from this free game than in typical freemium chaser games, there's more polish all round, and the upgrade system is slick and expansive. It's unlikely to convert any unbelievers, but for the faithful it's the next logical game to get stuck into.

Line Runner 2 isn't perfect - while the challenge is a menacing yet satisfying one to overcome, there's a distinct lack of variety in the obstacle types, and there's more that could have been done to spice up that challenge and keep it fresh. But it is something very different and unashamedly tough in the runner genre, and for those reasons alone we encourage you to both try, and persevere, with this fiendish game.

Whether or not it's Vita's best title is up for debate, but it's without question a damn good one.

A pound-a-thon that's still fun after all this time, and those who want a capable PSP fighting game with familiar rap and superstar personalities and lots of bone-crunching hits should take this game on over.

Bombcats isn't just another physics puzzler, then, but there's no getting away from the fact that it is just one more addition to a very large pile of like-minded games. With that said, and taken on its own merits, this is a perfectly polished title that offers up some much-needed variety for fans of the genre. It's not a revolution, and it's certainly not the game long-term fans of the studio would have been hoping for, but Bomb Cats certainly knows how to scratch any time-killing itch you have.

When you boil it right down, Reloaded is just a great compilation, plain and simple.

While The Drowning could've used more variety - and maybe even a multiplayer mode to keep things interesting - it sets a benchmark for mobile first-person shooters.

There's a bothersome crashing issue that seems to occur during random fatalities and the camera will occasionally spaz out, but otherwise, AVP: Evolution is a well designed franchise tribute and a blueprint for how to do a kickass Alien versus Predator experience on mobile.

If you can find a few trusted friends to play with though, Star Trek Rivals is a game that offers up far more excitement than you'd expect from the average movie tie-in.

It's a phenomenal value, with $1400 worth of Neo-Geo arcade bliss in a $40 package, along with a few extras and two-player compatibility.

It may not have the longest campaign in the world, but Emergency packs in more than enough bang for your handful of bucks.

Mega Run is a lovely game that oozes charm and will delight players of all ages. Even if you think you can't possibly bear to play another screen-tapping automatic runner, we're pretty sure you'll fall in love with Redford's adventure regardless.

RAD Soldiers is a very well executed touchscreen game, and will do a good job of scratching that turn-based itch while you're away from the meatier console and PC games in the genre. That said, we did find the objectives and locations just a little bit too repetitive.

One of the more humorous and enjoyable endless-running zombie games we've played. Granted, it's short on options. It won't take long to plow through each stage, and beyond that, there's an unlockable Survival Mode, but for $0.99, ShaqDown is a basketball-whipping, mutant-punching riot.

How long you spend with the game will be a question of personal preference, but we think everyone will get a kick from this surprisingly strategic sequel for at least a while.

The only downside is the game's short length. You'll probably blow through it in a day or two, depending on your skills.

Irreverent, eccentric, and with enough challenge to keep even the most accomplished Angry Bird expert on their toes, Swing King's 90-plus levels represent a dollar very well spent.

Liberation Maiden may be a little expensive for its content, then, but this is frankly an outstanding port. Those mobile gamers who look upon the release schedule for traditional handheld consoles with envious eyes will be very pleased to see this title make such a grand appearance on the App Store, and that the controls can be ported so effortlessly to touchscreens bodes very well for the future of the platform.

Fortunately, there's enough variety and imagination in the level design, not to mention humor in the game's storytelling, to help Icebreaker just about rise above these concerns. You can expect a stiffer challenge here than you'll get from the average physics puzzler, but that's not necessarily a bad thing in 2013.

While simpler than other mobile games, NinJump Rooftops is a charming follow-up and worth downloading. In the end, this ninja's as sharp as ever.

If your definition of a good game demands that it offer huge depth and longevity beyond mere high-score replayability, then you may feel disappointed with Wonderputt. One hell of a sports game, with plenty of options and teams to keep you kicking for months.

Bolt Creative's Pocket God: Ooga Jump is hardly an original effort - it's essentially a more tropical edition of Doodle Jump - but it still manages to impress, thanks to its diversity of dangers and trouble-free control system. Despite the time it takes to collect gems, and the somewhat repetitive gameplay, it's an undeniably joyous time-waster.

For now, though, it's a cute, highly accessibly and downright fun bingo game anyone can enjoy.

Sure, the graphics were watered down, and there could've been more fighters and online play. But, as it stands, this is a commanding App that's worth its $9.99 price tag.

All we need, at this point, is for the developers to crack down on rage quitting and improve the tiny bit of lag that crops up. In its current state, though, Street Fighter IV Volt is still the best App Store brawler. Highly recommended.

Bullet Time HD can be a bit of a grind, but it's without question one of the best free games on the App Store. At zero dollars, there's no excuse to avoid it.

Duckers remains enjoyable and stands out for being the type of experience that'll keep you glued to the screen for several minutes or upwards of an hour. We'll stop short of calling it mindless, since there's a bit of strategy involved when it comes to treasure-hunting and avoiding stuff. In all, another quality effort from the folks at Retro Dreamer.

Act of Fury: Kraine's Revenge was a pleasant surprise. If you seek a challenge and love the concept of annihilating things with gale force winds, it's a solid purchase.

The game's out of control, to put it mildly.

The music (the true star of the game) is a riot, both well written and catchy. You'll hum at least one track for days.

It won't take long to unlock everything, but the journey is worth the modest amount of cash. Besides, blowing a zombie's brains out is quite the guilty pleasure.

Factor in those vibrant old school visuals and catchy tunes, and Kami Retro is a wonderful App that belongs on your iPhone.

We could make the argument that extreme grinding to unlock the best goodies somewhat lessens the appeal, or that the developers priced things too high, but neither of these debatable issues ruin Slayin. If anything, it's an ideal game for those of us who grew up mashing buttons on those NES controllers, with a bowl of Teddy Grahams and Ecto-Cooler within reach for much-needed breaks.

The music's infectious and will get stuck in your head for days, while the characters and environments have a simplistic but effective cartoon style appearance.

If you're not in the mood for a full Brain Age release, Arts and Letters is worth messing around with. The main games are fun and the addition of Themes mode prolongs the replay value better than we expected. We're all for new downloadable Brain Age releases, as long as they work as well as this one.

We think quite highly of The Price is Right Slots, and feel it's a wonderful companion for players in need of a gambling fix, one that won't result in them losing their paychecks.

Drawn to Life has a color and personality far beyond the majority of platformers, and is a perfect fit for the DS functionality to boot, already giving it a good headstart on its competitors quality.

So yes, Blot is a clone, but it's a damn good one. Jetpack Joyride gets the nod, in large part because it's free, but if you have $0.99, this runner (perhaps floater is more appropriate) comes recommended.

Aside from that, Mittens is a digital delight. Not the most revolutionary puzzle game, but one that Disney did a great job designing, and similar to Where's My Water?, an app that will continue to evolve throughout the year. If you can't get enough of these types of games, downloading this one is a no brainer.

No crazy graphics that take advantage of the new iPad's screen, or revolutionary features that push it ahead of the more advanced titles on the App Store. Just simple retro-themed goodness that kept us hooked much longer than we thought it would.

It's still one of the best dual stick shooters on the iPhone, and quite a bargain at $1.99 (limited time only). Now get those folks off the island.

Nevertheless, if you're a fan of puzzle games and want to treat your DSi (and yourself) to something fun for both quick and lengthy sessions, Dr. Mario Express is worth the prescription.

In all, Tomb Raider Anniversary scores points for not taking the lazy route. Sure, it seems like a straight-up conversion of the PS2 game with no bonus modes or multiplayer of any kind, but at least it wasn't a half-assed port with no brain power put behind it.

It all comes down to finding the game mode that's right for you and then immersing yourself in what is one of the App Store's weirdest but still enjoyable Apps.

Overall, Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars has its flaws, but remains a smooth running ride, one that'll certainly satisfy fans of the series and newcomers alike.

Surprisingly, Gameloft's Spider-Man Unlimited is a decent runner with a progression system and narrative tiers that allow it to transcend its status as F2P clone that you've seen millions of times over. In fact, with future updates, it may even continue to improve.

If you're not crazy about MMO titles, Game of War: Fire Age won't change your mind. It's a real grind to build something of significance, and even then, it can be frustrating against an overpowered Alliance. For fans of the genre, though, this should be downloaded immediately. Gizmonauts doesn't reinvent this particular genre wheel of gaming. It unashamedly offers up something you're likely already familiar with, but it does so in a package that's surprisingly refreshing, charming and loveable.

Spirefall is a fun and very entertaining game. It has a very simple objective and anyone can have fun playing. The game is a little too easy though and there is not a lot of extras available to keep people around for a long time.

Overall, though, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney has enough refreshing content and "legal good times" to keep you happily satisfied, with its well-integrated storyline, characters and touch-screen tools.

This is still the definitive version of Max & the Magic Marker, and it's a smart purchase regardless of whether you played the game on Wii or PC.

It'll more than likely take you a fair bit of grinding coins to open up all of the content Nutty Fluffies has to offer, but it's also one of those games you'll have so much fun playing that it will never feel like work.

It's a challenging but fair game, it's packed full of incredibly satisfying stunts, and only the most obsessive completionist will feel hard done-by in the cash store.

Lego Star Wars: The Compete Saga is an exceptional home port for the series, and a fine return to form for the Nintendo DS.

Be Together doesn't so much reinvent the wheel as paint it pink, slap it on a wedding car, and send it roaring off into the distance, but physics-puzzle fans will certainly find plenty to be enamored with here. It doesn't do anything particularly new for the genre, and the constant romantic giggling and burbling of the characters might drive you up the wall, but when all's said and done it's a solid enough puzzler.

The inclusion of ads and obvious lack of high-resolution visuals somewhat cheapen the game; always bizarre, considering Zynga's technical know-how. By and large, though, Running With Friends is surprisingly fun and worth your time, regardless of your personal feelings towards the company.

For $20, Arkanoid DS isn't just a steal, it's a requirement. It's fun, it looks and sounds great and it has options for both the solo and multiple players.

We just wish these levels were longer. EA broke them up to make the App more casual friendly, but hardcore players will breeze through much of the game with little effort.

What makes Band Together especially challenging is this: once a Bandy falls off a platform, there's no way to go back. This is where much of the head-scratching comes into play, since you must plot several moves ahead to see how puzzles unfold.

It may not be the most sophisticated game you can get for your mobile, but it is one of the most entertaining and original, and you can't really ask for much more than that.

Overall, Lums is a fantastic addition to the crowded physics puzzle genre, and packs in more than enough originality to put a smile on the face of even the most jaded physics action fan.

Regardless, Giant Boulder of Death is a smashing success, a fun game that'll keep you playing for quite some time. This rolling stone gathers no moss.

A well polished and kick ass surgery game that makes excellent use of the Nintendo DS' touch screen. But what I wasn't prepared for was its engaging story, and that added bonus puts this game over the top.

If only some of the graphic quirks and loading times had been addressed, we would have had the kind of racing game that could've sat alongside Ridge Racer rather proudly. As is, it's still recommended for its fast gameplay and stacked features, as well as its multiplayer attachments.

Pako is a unique and exciting car chase simulator that you'll pick up and play and forget to put down until you're proficient. Yes, it can be hard to get the hang of, and there simply isn't much to it, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a more addictive game out there right now -- of course, beyond the likes of Timberman.

No, LocoRoco 2 won't challenge you, but its happy presentation, fun gameplay and bountiful extras will keep you rolling for hours.

Jaws Revenge is a smartly designed and brutal action game that should satisfy your inner Carcharodon Carcharias. Eat all you want, but take what you eat.

It's light-hearted but captivating, and there a difficulty setting for everyone, whether you're the committed tower-defense nut, the kind of person who likes to think they're better at these games than they really are, or the younger game who'll get a few hours of entertainment from assaulting the balloons with ease.
