One of those video games that kicks the board and changes the rules. One of those experiences that leaves you thinking all the time when you're not operating your controls. Is that called a masterpiece? For me, without a doubt.

Super Mario 3D World is a game that is going to receive its deserved vindication by being now on a console that does not stop selling and will probably end up ranking among the best in the series. Bowser’s Fury is an excellent addition that paints a prosperous picture of a future full of possibilities for one of the most iconic characters in the history of gaming.

Moments will leave you with a lump in the throat or others that are really funny; brilliant musical sections and realistic and tender romances; tributes to amusement parks and reflections on addiction or on our own fears. Few games know how to navigate that range of emotions so well without getting lost in the attempt. Psychonauts 2 achieves all that and much more.

Tekken 8 represents the next evolution of the franchise, but it's not a major transformation. Some aspects remain the same, like the lack of in-depth tutorials, while some, like its narrative, fall very short. However, what's most important, the gameplay and the online experience, are definitely at its best.

Dead Space Remake is a game that we needed. EA and Motive, in the same way as Capcom with their Resident Evil remakes, have marked a path. And that path will place this title on the podium of the best of 2023, without a doubt.

The sequel to Hideo Kojima's divisive delivery simulator trades the impenetrability of the first game for a more accessible story, vastly improved combat and a sense of freedom that ensures the experience is replayable.

Infinite Wealth sets the bar for what other games with secondary content should aspire to. It delivers high-quality content that naturally encourages players to invest countless hours. The main content lives up to expectations, and together, it makes for a fantastic game in the early months of 2024.

The Final Shape provides a fantastic conclusion to a nearly ten-year narrative. It does so with emotion but without neglecting the spectacular battles with imposing bosses and an exquisite level of action. It is packed with content and serves as the starting point for an intriguing new story arc.

Dreams is finally out and the creativity of the community is starting to flourish. Even though there are still a lot of clones of other franchises and none of them have a particularly good gameplay, more robust experiences can be found and a few original games can also be a good time. However, the real appeal of Dreams lies in the creative tools and the collective game design that's being built around it. Creators from all over the world are getting together to create games in a platform that is unique and incredibly important to the industry.

The Last of Us Part I is a great game. We can't deny all the technical work behind it because it is excellent, but at the same time, the gameplay experience is similar to the one of 2013. There are a lot of aspects that I wish were better and there are a lot of others that, having played part two, I can't get out of my head.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 could have fallen into easy nostalgia. Instead, it lives up to its name. The attention to detail in the easter eggs, the music selection that respects classics like Guerrilla Radio or Superman, the classic outfits combined with the current look of professional skateboarders, all of this makes this game a remake that understands everything and that even laughs at itself.

At first glance, Ori and the Will of the Wisps may seem like more of the same. It's true and it's one of its strengths. Because every aspect of the game works in such a great way that we can feel that we are replaying the same great experience as that of the first game, but with small changes that make it even better.

I could give many more examples of how Monster Hunter Wilds rewards our time and willingness to play with its various elements and options while also making sure not to scare away new players. But the reality is that it's much easier to simply recommend Monster Hunter Wilds to everyone. It’s truly an incredible game, and there’s no better time to jump into the franchise.

Horizon Forbidden West is a textbook sequel, but a really well-executed one. You already know what you are going to find and it does not seek to reinvent the wheel or modify the formula that led the first game to sell more than 20 million units. Guerrilla Games therefore opted to take the very good base already established in Zero Dawn and worked to improve the combat, the options to navigate the map, the story, its characters, its mythology, climates and setting, all wrapped up in a dazzling visual package that It's nice to explore at all times.

Simple controls and tactical complexity merge to achieve the year’s best wargame in Unity of Command II. It’s a game that forces you to optimize each one of your moves, like a classic board game in the style of Risk, but without the randomness. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this game, either to novices or veterans of the genre.

Leaving aside the discussion about whether this DLC should have been included in the base title, Separate Ways has all the weight to be a robust game on its own. While the story and the entire context is tied to Resident Evil 4 Remake, it offers us a new experience, with a completely different character, with improved and expanded gameplay, and with a very high difficulty in direct response to the dynamics it handles. Capcom's hand is felt in every section, and there is no doubt that we are in front of a Resident Evil with all the letters. In today's times, having a DLC in which you can invest up to 6 hours, is something very remarkable and appreciated. As part of the saga, there is no doubt that we are facing a proposal that no fan should miss.
