A superb atmospheric horror experience, Layers of Fear succeeds in taking terror videogames to the next levels in terms of immersion, but fails to deliver little else than another artistic walking simulator.

Prospekt tries to emulate the formula that made Half-Life 2 so great but falls short in its execution. The puzzle elements are forgotten as soon as they are introduced along with the story, which results in a painful experience due to its broken combat design.

A great fan service game despite its flawed storytelling, Project X Zone is a title that people looking for a Japanese strategy game will surely like. Stylish animation and outstanding graphics for a 3DS game add a lot value to this portable title made for the niche player.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is a generous game. The additions feel solid and the improvements to the game modes give new possibilities to the player; however, it is hard to decide if all this justifies the extra money you will have to pay when compared to its predecessor.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers will make you smile with tons of content, fan service and its tongue-in-cheek tone if you are a kid or an otherwise obsessive fan of the franchise, if not, you will grow tired of its repetitive formula and design flaws very soon.

An excellent follow-up to its memorable predecessor, Fire Emblem Fates offers accessibility for the newcomer and strategic depth to the veteran in any of its versions and it's a remarkable and flawlessly executed sequel that sets the bar very high for future releases of the franchise; however, newbies must beware from the infernal difficulty of the Conquest version, which is relentless and unforgiving, only fit for the seasoned enthusiast.

Attractio may seem like a Portal rip off with very bad story, but fans of the genre may also appreciate it for its simple mechanics and affordable price.

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia has good ideas and a compelling presentation but it punishes the player so much, that it ends up being frustrating and repetitive rather than fun.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth celebrates the 15th anniversary of the beloved anime franchise in a big way. Most fans will enjoy the character and environment design that sometimes will take you to a Tokyo District and sometimes to a very deep digital world that must be rescued.

Mechanically flawless but lacking in content, Street Fighter V is still the cream of the crop of the fighting genre, but those looking for a complete product may be best advised to wait a little for more game modes, fighters and content.

The introduction of kids to the formula, improves the experience a bit and, as a whole, This War of Mine: The Little Ones remains an original take on the subject of war. It would've been good if 11 bit studios made some changes to the UI in order to make it more friendly on consoles, though.

The Following is a solid and consistent open world experience; a true evolution of the original ideas that made Dying Light fun and engaging to play. The agile and frantic parkour experience is now powered by an all-terrain, high octane buggy, which is your primary tool to explore the farmlands of Harran. More importantly, the vehicle is seamlessly integrated with the structure of the game.

Thanks to its simple mechanics and storytelling, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 becomes the greatest anime game ever made. You will enjoy it from beginning to end. It may not have enough balance to be an EVO game, but fans will love it for its outstanding fanservice.

Despite some degree of repetition, Unravel feels like an honest effort to do something fresh and intimate, which is no small feat when we remember the current trends in the industry. Add an outstanding visual presentation and memorable music to the mix and you get a enjoyable little game.

Firewatch is for those gamers looking for something fresh or a slow-paced adventure. The result isn't perfect and it's clear that the studio still has a long way to go, but this is a good game and proof that you don't need a complicated narrative to tell a story that can captivate you from beginning to end.

Gravity Rush: Remastered is the living example of how a remastered game should be done. It was a great choice by Sony to bring it to the PS4 because it is the presentation that should have deserved from the beginning.

Final Fantasy Explorers works well as an entry-level experience for anyone looking for something like Monster Hunter. It may not have a plot to follow, but the gameplay value rests on its multiplayer, as well as on its monster and weapon crafting.

XCOM 2 is an improvement to the franchise in every sense of the word. From the refined combat mechanics to the overwhelming global setting, Firaxis Games shows how a sequel must be done. XCOM 2 is unforgiving as it is rewarding, a true masterpiece in the turned-based strategy genre.

Another year, another Resident Evil HD Remaster from Capcom. This time they did a good job overhauling the cult classic from the GameCube era. We are happy with its looks and the new control scheme but the changes made to the inventory turn it into the most tedious and slow-paced game in the franchise.

A classic after all these years, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen has certainly been outclassed in many areas and this PC port shows it, but its peerless combat and peon mechanics are still features that many current day games would benefit from incorporating.

Beyond: Two Souls didn't live up to the expectations created by its huge production values. It is not a good game or a good movie and neither its resolution nor its framerate will change that. Thus, the virtue behind this new release is to appear better than it really is.

Its gameplay may be solid but Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is a very weak package that lacks campaign or training modes. You can't help but feel that this was rushed to fill a gap in the Wii U's release calendar for this Christmas. The multiplayer component could at least give some hours of fun to those players looking for a challenge with the best of the best.

Sword Art Online may not be the game fans deserve, but it is at least a nice iteration that they will enjoy. It does not have the greatest game mechanics but its simplicity should appeal to those curious players that would like to taste this game. You will give it a try for the main campaign but stay for the multiplayer experience.
