MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is undoubtedly a love letter to the beat 'em up genre and 90s nostalgia. However, that fidelity to the past is also its biggest limitation.

Contra: Operation Galuga stays true to its roots but makes changes to appeal to old and new players. The result is a good arcade experience that adapts to the player and appeals to nostalgia to convince classic game lovers. While it delivers on being fun and challenging, it fails in its presentation with soulless designs and a less-than-stellar technical side. It is ideal for fans of retro games but for action lovers there are better options to choose from.

The Hinokami Chronicles is a fighter arena with a poor character roster at the time of its release, and an inorganic story mode. You will be forced to finish it only to see the cutscenes and unlock the characters, instead of exploring battle systems. But not everything is disappointing, as the art direction is incredible, with special attacks taken directly from the anime, and the inclusion of the original music is greatly appreciated.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath story and presentation feels and looks incredible. It's a real testament of how the narrative in a fighting game can evolve. However, this time the content offered in this package feels lacking compared with its high price point. The new characters are worth it but more novelties and additional fighters are needed to justify the purchase. Of course, the free update for all players is appreciated.

Demand for Wooly World in any of its versions (Wii U or 3DS) to match the greatness of Yoshi’s Island or Yoshi’s World might seem to be asking too much, but the thing is that it has the potential to do so. What the game offers right now is enough to please Yoshi’s fans at its most, even if the rest of the players won’t get their expectations fulfilled. Still Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is a fun, adorable and enjoyable game, and one of the best in the platform genre that you can find on the 3DS.

The game has a great amount of content which means many hours of gameplay. Fan service and nice storytelling will keep you going until you reach the very end. However, countless localization problems, recycled elements and senseless side-missions hurt the overall experience.

Authentic, visually stunning and with one of the best soundtracks of the year, Hohokum is definitely a surprise. It's a shame that below that colorful surface, lays a dull game with confusing elements that undermine an otherwise great experience.

In the process of renovation, Valkyrie Elysium changed genre and sacrificed its RPG essence to become an action RPG that takes us back to the golden age of hack and slash. Unfortunately, its simple story and limited exploration can make you lose interest in continuing to play until the end.

Payday 2: Crimewave Edition offers solid and entertaining cooperative action. It is best played with like-minded friends that are willing to interact, communicate and orchestrate heists. Sadly though, the progression system demands a heavy time investment in order to unlock weapons, which may be an impediment to some players.

STAR WARS: Squadrons is a very well-accomplished installment of the franchise. A complete surprise thanks to the effective combination of arcade action and hard simulation. Crash Team Rumble is a solid experience. The platforming is on par with the original games, while the combat is satisfying and works very well. The final result is fun and has potential. Unfortunately, the game as a service structure is unoriginal. There is only one main game mode and a limited number of characters, so the game gets repetitive quickly. If it had a free-to-play format, it would be an exciting release. However, as a $30 USD game, it's hard to recommend.

Although MADiSON is a good proposal that ends up drowned by its flaws, it is not a horror game that you should avoid either, since it has moments that are very worthwhile.

This is a colorful metroidvania game. It's a shame that the level design is just as subpar and frustrating as the enemies in the game itself. The art direction is also a strange mix of 2D and 3D elements that ends up feeling inconsistent. A good effort but there are much better games in the genre.

Yes, it has some great reimagined graphics, and it represents a solid return to the Oddworld universe when it works as it's supposed to. However, New 'n' Tasty lacks some precision in the analog controls, it has almost no replay value and lacks imagination on the cooperative front, so this isn't the perfect remake by no stretch of the imagination, nor it stands close to great representatives of the platform/stealth genre, such as Another World or LIMBO.

I think it is necessary to see Naheulbeuk's Dungeon Master as an introductory proposal for the genre and a game that in small portions of consumption can give you fun times. What also does not change in this remake is that it is a project that makes good use of its source material. It also looks better with much needed graphical upgrades. A good remake for a decent game.

Sonic Frontiers will be unable to return Sonic to the videogame Olympus, but it's not like it needs to. After all, the hedgehog has already transcended as a cultural icon in other fields of entertainment. What it does do is restore dignity to a franchise that went from the top to embarrassment. It's refreshing to try a Sonic that evokes the best moments of Sonic Adventure to remind us that SEGA's hedgehog is a gaming icon for a reason.

Polyphony Digital had three years to truly work on this game and they delivered the same experience as Gran Turismo 5 just with some minor tweaks. Gran Turismo 6 feels more like an expansion rather than a brand new game. It's very disappointing for true racing fans.

Other than that, this version has little else to offer and the game is starting to feel old. A few image tweaks and other improvements would make this game more valuable in its comeback.

Luffy's new adventure offers an original story created by Eiichiro Oda. However, it does not shine due to the brief duration of its campaign.

Despite some balancing issues, the lack of an engaging main story and the absence of a training option, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution consolidates as a worthy addition to the series, due to the abundance of available characters and references, its seductive visuals, well rounded animations, and above all else, the subtle and positive changes to the fighting mechanics.

To the clinical eye of the hardcore fan, Crash Bandicoot 4 on Nintendo Switch can be considered as avoidable, however, this may well be different for those who seek the portable experience. If you are looking for a game that will make you laugh, High On Life is the one. It's a bare bones FPS with acid humor, brilliant characters, and it's filled with absurd situations; it will make you feel inside an Adult Swim series. However, its limited exploration and rhythm, the game is better committed to making you laugh rather than shoot.

Despite the lack of imagination during the races, Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious may serve as a good entry-level experience for those who haven't yet bought the regular game or those who want something just a bit different for free.

A good remake of a decent game. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX will be loved by those who played the original. Sadly it lacks the depth or challenge needed to be interesting to a wider gaming audience.

A Way Out intended to renew the forgotten split screen cooperative experience, but fell short in its execution. The result is not as overwhelming as you think; A Way Out is fun and it's better to play with a partner on the couch. In the end, as a football fan, I can't find a better expression that synthesizes FIFA 21 than the shout for a goal that was disallowed by the referee.

In terms of setting and art design it is one of the most unique games we have seen in a long time. However, it is a bland and run-of-the-mill title gameplay-wise.

It may not be the best-looking MMORPG out there and its social tools could use some serious work, but in the end, The Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited offers an intuitive and competent experience for console gamers and Skyrim fans alike.

Despite all the promises and the delays, Crackdown 3 is an unexpected miracle. It’s genuinely a fun game to pick up and play for a couple of days, but not for longer, as its dated design will turn this experience into a boring and monotonous adventure. Might not be worth the full price, but for members of Xbox Game Pass it’s an obligatory stop.
