Leaving the controversy at the door, Hatred is a solid 90's isometric action game, with 80's horror cheese, and cringe inducing parodying of what is considered edgy.

Hatred is a very playable game for fans of adrenaline and bloody thrills, although the content of the game is a bit controversial. The game could be longer, more diverse and better optimized (Unreal Engine 4 is hungry for power). And given the overall quality Hatred did not deserve all the media buzz surrounding its development and most likely it won't be remembered in a few years' time.

For all of the shock and hullaballoo following its path toward release, Hatred is nothing special or particularly egregious in the world of video game violence, except for the fact that it relies on that violence alone. The game takes itself extremely seriously and has plenty of extremely violent content and murder, but it ends up feeling more like camp.

Hatred delivers some fleeting sadistic satisfaction and a gorgeous art style, but quickly becomes a tedious chore. After all the controversy, it's disappointing that the finished product is mechanically flawed and otherwise completely forgettable.

It is without a point. It fires its Uzi rounds aimlessly and manages to hit nothing. It’s not bad, it’s not horrific, it’s not reprehensible and it’s not memorable either.

I have to kill everbody. It works, but it's a primitive piece of garbage. It's so bad, it's almost funny.

Hatred, as a piece of transgressive art, is a failure. It's dull, its violence crass and unconvincing, and its understanding of humanity shallow at best. But it's worth looking at, if only to understand why, and if only to interrogate what, if anything, could be gained from peering closely at something so horrible.

    - Graphics
    - Sense of power
    - Cool isometric levels

    On the other hand :(
    - No plot at all in a game that screams for one.
    - Wasted level design due to the freedom it gives you.
    - Controls don't always respond (it happened to me). Lara Croft's isometric titles are a lot similar and their accuracy is far better.
    - Short (maybe 3 hours) and repetitive.

In my opinion, it would be horrible to play Hatred like it is for 10 hours or so, but it's short campaign makes the credit scroll just when you're beginning to get tired of it. It's not a bad game after all, but it could have been much better.

Graphics: 4/10, this is 2015, please try harder.
Gameplay: no plot, no storyline, Ok I knew that going in, BUT ; It's not even fun, gets repetitive after the first 5 minutes.
    Getting shot offscreen, /golfclap.

the FBI should plant trackers into the game and fish out all of the psychos playing it, any normal teen/adult won't enjoy this game after the initial couple of kills.

Sadistic/ worthless game. /waste of time.

Hatred is one of the most insulting games of all time.

I don't mean offensive or shocking or anything like that.

I mean downright insulting to your intelligence.

Firstly, the gameplay is garbage. The controls suck, the shooting feels completely unsatisfying and lacking in impact, the difficulty is massively inflated because the developers just thought 'oh yeah let's just throw **** a bazillion enemies in' and the gameplay loop is so boring, uninspired and repetitive that I think I would rather play Hunt Down the Freeman.

Then there's the story. Edgy isn't quite the right word to describe it. **** moronic is more what I like to say. It wants to appeal to those annoying **** that act as if everyone is a terrible person and we should just commit genocide because isn't that just such a mature, thought provoking, well thought out idea?

Yeah you can not convince me that the devs of this game have ever had a normal conversation with another person outside of circle jerking with other edgy kids on **** about how much they hate the world.

So **** gameplay paired with an insufferable, irritating story.

Imagine you took the first Postal game and removed all the impact, thought, self awareness and substance, and you'd get this game.

Overall, **** game with nothing of value for anyone who isn't an insufferable **** who hates everything because they think it makes them mature
