A great puzzling platform game that works perfectly either handheld or on the big screen with a bevy of levels that represent great value.

Overall Falconeer has plenty to offer the player whilst lacking in mission variety the overall beauty of the world should be enough to offer the player plenty of incentive to carry on. The story is engaging without over staying its welcome and adds lore that can easily be expanded in a further game and like I said above this game is prime for a sequel.

Little Hope is a chilling experience with enough nail-biting tension, horrible monsters and lovable characters to mark it as one of the better horror experiences this year.

Despite the performance issues there is plenty to like here. The story is engaging and the characters are likeable. Using the Monstrum abilities adds a genuinely new layer to the core Ys gameplay and combat remains a blast to play through. The Switch may crumble a little under the weight of the game, but Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is still highly recommended.

I was very happy with the experience (well that’s a relative term as their are some dark elements to the story). It’s impressive to see what Indie teams can achieve and the best part is we get games that just wouldn’t be made if the field was only open to the big production houses that have to “play it safe”.

For me Conglomerate 451 is just the right mix of nostalgia and modern mechanics. There’s the familiar aspects that put me in a happy place, then there are the modern mechanics that mean I can enjoy those reminiscences of old school gaming without feeling like I am bogged down in some of the limitations of those games. I would say for the price, there’s a lot of value here and if you were a fan of Dungeon Crawlers this should be right down your corridor!

I’m a pretty big fan of RTS and certainly a big fan of RPG’s, I love being able to dig into a character and forge them the way I would like. Spellforce 3 does a good job of mashing those two genres together and the result is a pretty decent campaign that should have you entertained for quite some time. A little bit of this and a little bit of that, in just the right doses and you get a great game that stands above the sum of it’s parts.

Overall, Death Stranding is a good game but not quite something that I’d really recommend. Yet, at the same time, Death Stranding is still an incredibly unique game and worth having a go at if you’re looking for something a bit out of the ordinary.

The game is good but not perfect. The menus are clunky, and the navigation of character skills armor and weapons needs work. These issues only slightly take away from the magic and overall polish of the game. That being said. You can do a lot worse when choosing a game from this graphical genre. Pathway is not perfect, but it is a fun time and will eat up hours of your day. Even with the clunky menu design.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, is another Call of Duty game. It’s everything you’ve come to expect from one at this point. A solid, if underwhelming single-player campaign that doesn’t push the bar in any way but doesn’t have any real major faults either. Tacked onto a live-service multiplayer experience that is more or less the same as its predecessors.

80 Days was released on Android and iOS platforms in 2014, and then PC in 2015, but this new release on the Nintendo Switch feels just right. I didn’t play the previous versions, but in handheld mode on the Switch, with haptic feedback in the controllers responding to each decision you make, I found myself lost in this wonderfully vibrant world. You’d do well to add this to your ‘on the go’ library.

Mafia: The Old Country offers an incredibly immersive experience that puts players back in 1900s Sicily and makes them truly feel like they're in the period. While the narrative experience is incredibly short, the experience doesn't overstay its welcome, and each chapter and act has a purpose that is executed well.

Despite the aforementioned quibbles I have with the shared-screen multiplayer experience and the lack of incentive for repeated solo play, I still think 51 Worldwide Games is an excellent package. You know why? Because Chess is really fun. As is Connect 4 and Hanafuda (another new experience for me). Combine the vast selection of games available with the ease of use of playing with the touch screen or Joy Con controls, plus the terrific teaching tools on offer, and 51 Worldwide Games is an impressive value proposition.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is an impressive feat on the Nintendo Switch. Perhaps I aught not be surprised at what developers are able to squeeze onto the Switch these days, but I was certain Dragon’s Dogma’s huge open world and gigantic enemies would cause my Switch to burn up in my hands when I tried to run it. Distracting NPC pop-in and muddy textures are a small price to pay to be able to experience this fun and unique RPG classic on the go. Definitely worth checking out if you’re after a lengthy RPG adventure that’s not quite like anything else around.

By the end of the game, I felt like I knew these crew members quite intimately which I’m guessing is part of the charm of Tacoma. Like us, these people are flawed individuals and given your involvement as an observer, it almost feels like a psychological experiment. On that note, Tacoma developer Fullbright should be commended on creating a very original game and given they were responsible for Gone Home, it’s great to see them using this premise and adding another layer of complexity with some very clever story telling.

Farmagia is an action adventure RPG where you reap what you sow…literally! Plant and grow creatures to accompany you on your quest to save the Underworld from a dishonorable monarch and his battalion of monsters. Farmagia’s unique approach to the genre may raise some eyebrows, but successfully creates a fun time with its interweaving gameplay components. Not only does the game’s anime style, challenging quests, and interesting story effortlessly garner attention, but the quality and quantity Farmagia is able to cultivate succeeds in making it a must play hit.

If you’re a fan of the series already, it is no doubt already on your wishlist or downloaded on your console of choice. If you’re not, it’s a great entry point and another welcome addition to this superb series.

If you liked the tainted dreamlike aesthetic of games like Inside and the exploration and platforming of titles like Ori and the Blind Forest and Hollow Knight, but also appreciate a tightly constructed narrative then you can do far worse than giving Neversong a few hours of your time. It’s a brief experience, although you can go back and hunt down all of the cards in order to add a few more hours of playtime, but the snippets of time that you do spend with the game are all relatively enjoyable and it never threatens to overstay its welcome.

With a thin tutorial you are quickly left with only your brain to solve each challenge, and I loved that. Just don’t forget your smart robot arm.
