In conclusion, inFamous 2 is a worthy successor to the original game and although its fundamental nature is a rebadged gaming engine, there are several memorable moments in the game and for me, the story was much more down to Earth and relatable as opposed to the fast pacing of the original.

The developers of F1 2013 should be commended on the amount of realism they have incorporated into this racing simulator. With a variety of different gaming modes, detailed graphics and gameplay that is almost flawless.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is precisely the kind of game Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty wants: A smaller game (you can finish it in a weekend easily) that is bound to see the company win more prestige and awards. Like Hi-Fi Rush before it, Senua’s Saga is the kind of incredible narrative-focused single-player exclusive that is bound to be on plenty of award short-lists at the end of the year. It’s a well-written adventure with flawless production values that I’m sure endless thought pieces will be written about (I’ve already thought of a couple) because it actually has something to say.

There are some changes to the Halo franchise in terms of gameplay but overall 343 Industries have done a decent job to the series through its slight tweaks to gameplay. Sure, the campaign mode is a little dry but nonetheless I still enjoyed it and really wanted more Master Chief areas.

Black Flag is a remarkably new take on the series, and I would go as far to say it’s the finest entry we’ve seen to date.

Super Mario 3D Land is a game that can be played by anyone, young or old. With elements of classic 2D Mario games, Mario 64 and more recently Super Mario Galaxy, 3D Land successfully combines all these elements on the 3DS.

Microsoft Studios and 343 Industries should be commended on this 10th anniversary release of Halo: Combat Evolved. It's definitely for the Halo fan or for those that like well-made first person shooters with some great gaming mechanics and some amazing gaming environments that almost make this a new game. The ability to swap between classic and remastered is a treat in itself and really makes you appreciate what the developers created with the original game.

I would heartily recommend The Wizards: Dark Times to anyone who wants a bit of magic VR gaming or who just wants to experience what a VR world can be. It’s a lot of fun and you get to feel like a truly powerful mage!

Overcooked! All You Can Eat is one of the best local couch co-op games you can enjoy on your next generation console this side of Christmas. As both a definitive re-package of the series and 4K remaster that blends the first two games, their add-ons, and all new content together, it’s a buffet worth gorging on for both newcomers and returning fans eager for more co-op cooking madness.

Soulstone Survivors is a razor-sharp, endlessly replayable power fantasy wrapped in smart systems, slick controls, and relentless style. With its deep build customization, satisfying progression, and chaotic yet strategic gameplay, it doesn’t just survive the arena roguelite genre, it masters it.

While it may not offer the intricate detailing of some other clean-up simulators, Spilled compensates with its heart-warming charm and accessible gameplay plus endearing graphics that is complemented by its subtle soundtrack. It’s a testament to the creativity and passion of indie developers, and a must-try for anyone seeking a relaxing yet meaningful gaming experience.

As a person who played all the Spider-Man games since Sega Genesis’ Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin, Insomniac’s version of the New-York city’s wall crawler is the best Spider-Man game ever released. The game holds up pretty well both in visuals and gameplay mechanics. Though there are some drawbacks and shortcomings, they are not game-breaking or in any way stop the players from enjoying the title. To make a long story short, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is a diamond in the rough.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is a true achievement for Nintendo’s new Switch 2 that will pave the path for more next-gen AAA titles on this console. The game not only looks great but plays exceptionally well and being able to play Cyberpunk 2077 on the go is worth the admission price of Night City!

The game runs better than on any other platform and is decked out with all the settings imaginable with bonus content to boot. Replaying through the grand adventure that is Kratos and Atreus’ story was also a delight. So if you’re a hardcore fan of God of War like I am or have never played the game, then I implore you to do so on PC if possible as its so far the most optimal way to play it.

Overall, this game is a true simulation of today's grand prix racing. It is both as accurate as you could hope to realistically be able to play. Graphically and acoustically it is superb. If you like Formula One racing and want to play it at home on your console or PC then this game is the pinnacle of simulations on the sport ever produced. The only thing missing is the cramped cockpit and the g-forces you would get in the real thing.

Resident Evil Revelations is a must have game for the 3DS that should be used in conjunction with the Nintendo 3DS Circle Pad Pro accessory. The gameplay is almost flawless and the environments are quite detailed and engaging. The story is a little clichéd as are the characters which may become annoying for some but if you're a fan of this franchise than you really need to check it out.

Assassin's Creed 3 is a carefully crafted game that does border on perfect in terms of this franchise. The new protagonists are interesting and more importantly, the story and gameplay flows together perfectly. For some reason, the story in AC3 is easily the most compelling of the lot and even when you're finished, you could easily play the game again. Add in a sturdy multiplayer mode and Assassin's Creed 3 is a must have game to get you through to Christmas.

Is it worth the purchase? Well if you don’t have any Sonic games and either want to see what it’s all about, or relive past glories… then certainly grab a copy. If you bought last years Sonic Origins then just have a look at what the differences are and determine if Plus really adds enough for you to fork out for it. But it’s nice to be able to share some of my childhood with my children in a pretty decent modern remastered collection such as this.

It makes game creation easy for non-technical gamers like me, but most importantly, fun for everyone, wrapped around a community and social sharing network that encourages exploration and experimentation wirth experiences big and small, popular and niche, and everything in-between.

For children of the 80’s there’s a lot of familiarity here and that does mean there’s a lot to love. It is a roguelike so if you get frustrated by dying and having to restart at the beginning, it’s likely not for you. If you like a challenge and your retinas can stand an onslaught of bright neon colours with 80’s references and an environmental message then this might just be your can of 7up… so don your powerglove, put on your acid wash jeans and get ready for some new retro gaming.
