A sequel overflowing with content, well-written and scripted, and with a varied, deep and satisfying combat system.

Ni No Kuni II is a little too easy, risking capitulating for such a small but fundamental element. However, the heavy, intense experience offered by Level 5's is so powerful that it's impossible to get away from the TV. It's an internal contradiction, a compromise you have to descend by, to enjoy one of the most exciting videogame worlds ever made.

With its strange and addictive premise, Crypt of the NecroDancer goes straight to the point. It's fun, clever and original. Adding the rhythm-game concept to the roguelike formula, the game apparently changes the rules, but doesn't deny its roots.

Watch Dogs is a very good free roaming game, with nice graphics (even without the gorgeous visuals we saw in the first trailers), interesting hacking-based gameplay mechanics, and solid gunplay. Sadly, the story, very poor and badly written, is not what a game like this deserves.

Return of the Obra Dinn is simply gorgeous, from the idea to the execution. Finally a gem in which your deductive skills, your logic and your patience are really important: this game doesn't help the player. With an amazing graphic art and a strong gameplay, another great game from Lucas Pope.

Technobabylon is a really good indie graphic adventure, with a nice sci-fi setting, some smart ideas, deep themes, good writing and interesting puzzles.

Unepic is another little gem in the indie world. Definitely difficult, his retrò style is delightful, and absolutely irresistible for old school games fan. An epic game, that's for sure.

Maybe Dawn of War 3 isn't the greatest entry in the saga, but it's damn close. A great RTS in its own right, it lacks a bit of content and some gameplay adjustments to truly climb above its storied predecessors.

A very good collection of everything which made Halo the great blockbuster we all know. A ginormous amount of content in both single player and multiplayer aspects, including a very nice remaster of Halo 2.

Neon White is everything you want from a speedrunning game: fast, super precise, well structured and built around short and various levels. Some very small technical uncertainty in the repetition of the attempts does not affect the overall quality.

Legend of Grimrock II is a wonderful dungeon-crawler and it improves its predecessor in every single aspect. If you love this genre, you'll find a deep, rich, entertaining and satisfying experience.

Thanks to intelligent game mechanics, the story progresses forcefully by affirming the identity of its protagonists while allowing the player to make crucial choices, while the soundtrack (which ended up straight among my favorites on loop) is much more of an accompaniment: it’s a co-protagonist, who embodies the anxieties, fears and dreams of this ramshackle gang of friends, dealing with nothing less than an apocalypse.

Vast and hard, Elite Dangerous is a demanding experience which rewards the player with great satisfaction. The Xbox One edition is really well done and the joypad controls feel great.

Beautiful looking and full of surprises, Kirby Triple Deluxe is probably the best game in the never-ending Nintendo series.

Its mechanics are so well-crafted that they keep the attention high and manage to create a strong bond with the secrets hidden in the ocean depths. It shines the most through its nearly silent narrative, full of mystery and suspense, and incorporates every element into an incredibly intriguing exploratory context. Dredge is the perfect example of how to integrate themes and messages appropriately within a video game without ever introducing unnecessary or forced elements. Highly recommended: it might become one of the best experiences I'll have this year.

With so many ideas in visual and level design, Viewfinder is a must-have title for any puzzle game enthusiast.

Grounded is a complete, well-finished and multifaceted project, capable of satisfying a wide audience both for its setting and for its mechanics. Perhaps the two-year preview had a "cooling" effect on the interest of the public, but they did very well to the final result. Net of some frustrating elements, such as a difficulty level that looks upwards if it can, and the lack of a couple of mechanics useful for those who want to enjoy the game with maximum ease - fast travel for example - Grounded it is a product that if it had been released today, without first knowing anything about it, would certainly be the center of a lot of attention. If solo is a solid game, challenging but potentially difficult to digest in its entirety, in cooperative the experience shows its best side and is able to offer many hours.

A thirty years old JRPG that manages to appear younger and have fresher ideas of many contemporary games. A true gem that would be a shame not to play.
