It's not a remake or a port of a classic game -- it's a brand-new platformer with brand-new enemies, brand-new levels to explore and brand-new bosses to fight.

Though you see the initial action (as in the pitcher delivering the ball and the batter swinging) in real time, the replays don’t show the ball actually hitting the bat, nor the outfielder, or infielder, actually gloving the ball. It all just disappears as it gets close to the contact point.

The graphical rendering of the characters are very sharp-edged, the camera angles hinder gameplay at times, the sound is definitely lacking, and the paths through the various levels seems to be quite linear.

The control is the factor I had the most trouble with. The game is intended to be arcade-like, yet you can’t fishtail around corners. You have to slow way down if you want to stay on the road. This isn’t much of a problem once you figure out the mechanics of it, but it is a little annoying.
