Outstanding in every way. All of the story elements, fantasy fiction races, and winning design elements have been retained, albeit in greatly enhanced forms that make everything feel fresh.
  2. DP is addictive. Sitting down to play through a few turns can easily suck hours from your life as a "few turns" becomes 50 turns.
  3. A remarkable, well-designed program. It is challenging and entertaining.

For well-crafted turn-based strategy with stunning artwork and powerful AI, Disciples II is the way to go. [Apr 2002, p.70]

You won't hear complaints about the graphics, which are absolutely gorgeous. For one, there is a certain style to the artwork; it's not quite anime, but it does have a hint of it.

The most remarkable aspect of Disciples II is how carefully all of the units have been balanced. [May 2002, p.82]
  7. Titles such as "Etherlords" have blown the genre open, and in comparison Disciples II seems markedly dated.

Even after seven years of letting it sit on my shelf and playing much more graphically advanced games like Elder scrolls: oblivion and and Mass effect, Disciples 2 STILL manages to suck me into its world.

Certainly, it`s a Might and magic ripoff, but `im okay with that, as D2 took just enough from it to be interesting and did its own thing.

If you`re into deep turn based games that require your patience and greatly rewards it, then Disciples 2 is for you

If you aren`t, you`ll probably get bored with it.

And the king returned from his holy quest, and cried triumphantly: Behold! I have found a treasure long buried!

    And the people rejoiced!

And there was much feasting, and singing, and merrymaking.

So what you get here, grimdark setting, gothic art style, 4 factions, interesting story, Great game. Boggles the mind how a similar game hasn't been made until now

A thousand curses on akella and calypso for making the travesty called disciples 3. May you suffer of diarrhea for eternity

I remember very vividly the first time I have played this great game. My friend gave me his burned copy of Disciples II and as soon as I started playing, I immediately felt the fantastic dark atmosphere of this game creeping up on me. I have never ceased to love and I have been coming back to this gem of a game ever since. As I mentioned the atmosphere is probably the most redeeming quality of Disciples II. The painted graphics is just excellent, the world is lovely and full of things that it keeps surprising me even now. The battle screen had fantastic looking textures and animations for its time and it does not offend even today. All this is completed by the unforgettable music and sound effects. Who else remembers and mutters the mages chanting? The combat system is very simple and yet still funny to play with even after hundred hours and thousand battles. The highest difficulty is more than enough for me, it is mostly very well balanced even at higher levels, the only things that ruined that a bit are the overpowered paralyze artifacts, even though they are fun to play with. The AI is not great, it is pretty predictable even on very hard and the opposing factions are more a hindrance for you in the sagas. The amount of neutral units is great and with their combinations and levels, you will always face something new. I cannot really think of a negative thing to say about this game and that says a lot on its own. The total playtime for the four sagas on very hard was about 100 hours. Obviously no microtransactions and no SJW nonsense.

This is a true, hardcore, old school strategy game from a bygone era, when world was still sort of alright. Final Verdict: 94 %

The only thing is combat, which becomes surprisingly boring after a while since there isn't much tactics involved in it. It would have been nice if units could move, and mages could cast a variety of spell rather than just one simple attack. Other than that the game is quite a lot of fun. Expand
