Ultimately, colorful environments and creative obstacles make Nono Islands a fun little adventure game to try- if you are willing to look past the limitations.

Sprinkle Islands is a really tough call to make; the original was pretty good, and for the most part, this one does well to uphold those same elements, but in the end, we just weren't enjoying this one quite as much. If you decide to pursue this one, do so with some caution, but if you haven't played the original either, give that one a try instead.

As a whole, I don’t think Dungeon Monsters RPG is terrible. It’s a cookie-cutter mobile RPG experience. The developers mostly played it safe, and the one really unique thing the game brought to the table (the torch mechanic) ended up hurting the experience.

Babel Running looks nice, plays smoothly, and is fun for a while, but it doesn't do very much to shake up the genre. It'd be a lie to say that it isn't fun, but the repetitive nature and lame bonus mode keep it feeling a little behind the times.

As intricate and meticulous as all the stat and equipment management can be, Dragon Bane is actually pretty hands-off. I mean that in a good way.

If you’re a fiend for the movie universe’s greatest marshmallow-murderers, taking Ghostbusters Puzzle Fighter for a spin isn’t the worst idea — as long as you’re OK with grinding and wait periods. If you’re just looking for a good match-three game, don’t bother calling this one.

You’ll enjoy moments of Puzzle Fighter but it’s rarely enough, and it’s certainly not enough to make you want to throw money at the situation. The basic formula might be correct, but, ultimately, Puzzle Fighter feels a little lazy at heart.

This is a solid port and an interesting title, but certainly not one of the Neo Geo Pocket’s most essential titles.

Sure, it's turn based strategy at its core, but the movement and treadmill vibe from the levels make it feel a bit different.

Katy Perry fans and those interested in the music business alike will likely find a reason to stick around and invest a few dollars, but everyone else (especially impatient gamers) will want to opt for something meatier, even if it’s just the superior Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.

As with many co-op platfomers of this type the controls need to be spot on to avoid being frustrating, and sadly Bread and Fred doesn’t quite nail this aspect. Too often we found ourselves struggling to get out of an area because of slightly finickity physics or overcomplicated controls, and it didn’t feel as if the blame lay at our door. If you stick with it things do improve though, with the slightly fudged controls being workable and the game offering some interesting level design and ideas.

Overall, Tiny Bombers offers a decent enough playing experience and will likely scratch that Bomberman itch for some. But while the goal may very well have been to keep things as simple as possible, some added depth in a future update could easily win over those who feel underwhelmed in this first outing. With an Android release due this summer, as well as a version of Tiny Bombers for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC planned for early 2018, there’s hopefully more to come in the iOS version of Tiny Bombers as well. As it stands though, it’s just a little thin on experience.

Sadly it never manages to be a completely satisfying experience, but you certainly can’t fault its ambition.

Rockstars of Ooo is good enough, but Adventure Time games shouldn’t just be “good enough” — especially a music game based around a show that’s so well-known for its tunes.

It's hard to take credit away from Air Patriots for trying to do something new, especially when it works. But it only works on the gameplay side of things. Although you'll have fun playing this game, you won't enjoy finishing the first map and then being told to pony up some cash to unlock the next one.

The Tribez and Castlez has some good things to offer, especially if you haven't played The Tribez. Its audio-visuals have real charm, and it's fun to watch your kingdom grow. Unfortunately, as much as this sequel draws upon its predecessor, it seems to have learned little from the previous game's social and monetization mistakes. Because of the latter, it's not an easy game to recommend.

Ultimately moon too often hides its often blinding originality behind unclear design and an unnecessarily slow pace. For those with patience this is a game worth investigating – but for most this is a cult classic probably best avoided.

That’s all the Inside Out Thought Bubbles experience boils down to: are you a kid? If so, knock yourself out. If not, well, you’ll be hard-pressed to find something in Inside Out to keep you playing for very long.

Cube Jump is just a wave rider. The game is piggy-backing on the success of another game, perhaps even picking up a few fans along the way.

If you're dying (Mwa-ha-ha!) for another Dash game, Hotel Transylvania Dash is a worthwhile addition to your collection. If you're Dashed out, though, leave these monsters to enjoy the peace and quiet that they deserve. There's not much unfinished business here.

Just feels like a me-too kind of game. There's a lot to do, and dedicated gamers will be able to play for a long time. But with so many other games out there, Happy Theme Park ends up being an above-average social game that needs more polish and less spam to bring it to the next level.

There's a very simple way to decide whether Everyday Spelunker is for you: if you're looking to pick it up for the sake of nostalgia, or simply to fill a blank in your video game knowledge, then this is a great port, and well worth your time. If you're planning to pick up Spelunker for proper entertainment purposes, and/or you find that old-school games don't usually gel with you, I really wouldn't bother.

I don’t mean to imply that I haven’t been enjoying Tyrant Unleashed, because I have been; but playing for extended periods can start to feel pretty tedious. I’d still recommend it for most CCG fans. Although I’m not too sure how long it will hold everyone’s attention.

A lovely example of how hidden object scenes should be designed on iOS devices, with large items and clear graphics. But for everything the game does right, it does something much worse in its effort to earn players’ money. The game isn’t horrible by any stretch of the imagination, but we’ve also seen plenty of better options released in the space.

One of those games that is far from bad. It just never manages to rise above being pleasantly mediocre.

Ultimately Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a good game that’s sadly been poorly treated with this port. There’s not enough that’s been added in here to make it worthwhile for those who have fond memories of playing it back in 1993, and the rough edges will likely put off most newcomers.

The sad reality of Dungeon Hearts is that it might be better to purchase the soundtrack and pass on the game.

While the bite-sized nature of Cover Orange 2 lends itself to mobile play, the difficulty of the puzzles may not. The physics on tap are definitely up to par, and the way a round plays out is novel, but if you get stuck and don’t really like physics puzzles, there’s nothing superlative here to drive you onward. Who’ll stop the rain? Probably not most people for very long.

So if you’re looking for something a little different in the FPS genre on the Switch – and don’t want to delve into the past – then Project Warlock might be worth considering. Yet the ports of the first two Doom titles ultimately represent far better value, and offer a much more rewarding and balanced experience.

Hardcore gamers will certainly be able to sink their teeth into Indigo Lake and enjoy an edge-of-your-seat experience, but anyone who is, perhaps, a more casual player will have trouble staying patient or tenacious enough to reach the real meat of the game.

If you have people to play with, it's well worth the price of admission.

Tofu Drifter is certainly an interesting one. It could be brilliant, but it doesn’t quite manage to keep you entertained. If it was just a drift game that let you take to the track whenever you wanted then it’d be getting a better score, that’s for sure. As it stands, the weirdness that permeates the core idea turns out to be more annoying than endearing. Sure, people need their tofu, we’ve got nothing against that, but as mash-ups go this one misses the mark.

An interactive romantic comedy film isn’t a bad idea. Just not a particularly exciting one. Which perfectly sums up Half Past Fate.

The overly repetitive tracks and gameplay definitely works fine on mobile, but for a console experience – and one with a moderately high price-tag – this isn’t a motor that you’ll be taking out for a drive that often.

Swingworm is well-made and good-looking, but it's not really all that interesting or fun to play. What will likely make it appealing for some gamers, though, is how easy it is to play. That makes it a great choice for younger children. As a result, you might want to pick it up so your kid relatives have something to play the next time you're all together.

Knight Girl is a good-looking, professionally made game that’s not bad, but not particularly interesting.

Heroic Legends, for all its simplicity, is still an oddly enjoyable companion. I hesitate to call it a complete game, but as a sort of virtual pet with RPG trappings, it's something mobile gamers might still want to take a look at. The price is right, and the community seems to be thriving.

I want to explore other islands and see the rest of this charming world that developer Hand Circus has created. It’s possible that there’s more here, just beyond the next construction, there will be a spectacular change and everything will open up. But after six long days, it hasn’t happened. I’m still just fishing, and selling fish, and waiting.

As 3D runners go, Agent P DoofenDASH comes so close to feeling like it could be a lot of fun, particularly for those who love the adventures of Agent P and Dr. Doofenshmirtz, but it just comes up short overall.

Pets vs Orcs has a lot going for it, not least of all its fresh take on mobile-strategy combat. Unfortunately balance issues and ridiculous IAP prices mean progressing through the game will either be very time consuming or cost you a fortune.

Adaline is lovable and squeezable, but it needs some tuning-up before it can be considered amongst the App Store’s greatest stealth titles. You might say this cat needs to be fixed.

Overall I did enjoy Hipsta Chez, even if I absolutely abhor the name and would have a hard time telling a friend to check it out less the words get stuck in my throat. It's not an easy game, even on normal, but rewards those with patience and some chess skill. Getting those pieces to work in harmony is really key to getting any forward progress in the game.

If Toy Village is guilty of anything as a game, it's guilty of not being very interesting.

Guns Girl Z – Escape Ragnarok is easy enough to pass up if you’re not interested in gun-wielding heroines that wear mid-thigh Japanese school uniforms (or cat suits, or French maid suits, Playboy bunny suits, or whatever “practical” weirdness you manage to unlock as you play)

Crazy Labs did a really nice job turning mahjong into something mobile gamers of all ages will want to try, but a really lousy job making it work as a free-to-play title with in-app purchases.

This is a budget title, but one with more charm than most games in this price bracket. So this is a hard title to score. For fans of ironic low budget kitsch this could be a four star game – for those unable to look beyond the visuals this could be a one star experience. Ultimately though, if you’re looking for a new 2D platformer to play and don’t mind a few rough edges you could certainly do worse.

Crashing aside I did enjoy my time with Zombie Quest overall. My biggest takeaway though is that it's sort of a one and done type of app. Good for a few minutes of fun, but won't last on my home screen very long. Just no compelling reason to go back once you've played and gotten your fill.

An important step forward in terms of inclusive gaming, though it’s only a stumbling, zombie-sized shuffle rather than a giant leap.

Dropple never frees itself from the status quo long enough to justify spending all that much time on it.

Okay, it's an arcade game, and it's pretty well put together. But Shoot the Birds just rubs me the wrong way. And with not much to do in the long run, it's just not the easiest game to recommend.

Before the Nexus is a typical endless running game with a couple of issues as well as a couple of smile-worthy surprises. If you're into the Ratchet and Clank universe, or if you just like collecting endless runners, you'll enjoy this. If you've had it with the genre, or if you've sworn only to touch the very best it offers, feel free to skip ahead to Into the Nexus.

A nice challenging puzzler, but it offers nothing special to really draw you into its world, and its puzzles aren't so inventive or mind-boggling for you to go and tell your friends about.

A bit polarizing to say the least, the game starts off incredibly strong, with a delightfully spooky atmosphere and slick gameplay mechanics that just make it feel so good every time you pick off an enemy down the scope of your rifle. But once that first mission ends and the apocalyptic paywalls begin to set in, you’re going to start covering your eyes and hiding from this game for entirely different reasons.

In sum, if you’re looking for a real adventure game, Father and Son will not meet your needs. But, if you have an hour to spare to enjoy a different type of interactive experience and learn a little about the lives of those who inhabited Ancient Egypt, Pompeii, and Naples in the 1700s you’ll be richly rewarded.

If you're a first timer, there is fun to be had. But if you've been here before, and chances are you have, you might be better off reliving the classics of days gone by.

I can honestly say I was saddened by this release, as a simple port of the original would have been much better. Instead, this release is a stain on an otherwise great classic game. Let's just hope that if RollerCoaster Tycoon ever comes to the App Store, it'll receive more care than Theme Park did.

If moving buildings around all the time to squeeze in a fire department or a police station, while waiting for the slow trickle of money and resources that you need to expand, sounds like fun, then jump right into SimCity BuildIt. Just be aware, patience is necessary, and don’t expect to have marathon sessions with the game.

That's really Fightback in a nutshell. It's a fun game, it's an amusing game, but it never leaves me craving more.

It’s got upside, no doubt, but like that highly drafted rookie that tests fans’ patience, the question is how many people will stick around waiting for it to pan out.

There are plenty of other games that are cheaper, or free, that can deliver a much more polished and rewarding experience. But if you’re in the market for a game that is absurd in every way imaginable, you can’t go wrong with Goat Simulator.

What ultimately holds Lightopus back is the lack of any real growth or development. What you're doing in Level 1 is the exact same thing you're doing in Level 20, but with more enemies onscreen. It's the same thing every single stage, and even though it's fun for a little while, the mechanics and gameplay aren't engrossing enough to stand on their own for an extended period of time.

Skyhill wasn’t what I was expecting, which is a shame, but it’s not bad either. It’s a simplistic zombie (sort of) survival game that requires some careful planning, but doesn’t necessarily require much skill. Conversely, the atmosphere is great. Check it out if you’re looking for a survival game that’s creepy, but also a bit less involved.

Brick People starts off strong and interesting, but quickly reveals that it's only a one-trick pony.

The original Jet Car Stunts was a paid app we gave four stars, but Jet Car Stunts 2 simply fails to live up to its predecessor’s legacy as it falls into the free-to-play trap so many other titles have. Unless and until they give this one some fine-tuning, it’s better to go with the original or other, better games than bother with this one.

With a real lack of twists to the formulaic gameplay, not to mention a lack of real content overall besides that which is simply repeated to feign substance, Jelly Splash ends up being an unfortunate sticky mess that you’ll want to clean off your kitchen counter, rather than a delicious experience that you’ll want to eat between two slices of bread.

Charming Runes is an interesting mixture of a few different genres. It’s the kind of game that’s instantly addictive until about 20 minutes in when you realize there’s not actually enough going on here to hold your long-term interest. Still, you might find yourself coming back for short bursts every once in a while.

Despite the lack of originality it’s hard not to give MouseBot: Escape From CatLab a passing recommendation though – as what it aims to do, it does well. The low price point helps immeasurably too, and you definitely won’t feel short changed if you’re looking for a solidly assembled endless runner on your Switch. Just don’t expect to remember it for very long after you’ve completed it.

Fans of the original will be delighted to have more Tiki Towers at their disposal, but at the same time, there's not enough new here to really wow anyone.

BodyQuest is aware of its limitations, and is probably worth a punt if you happen to have a child who needs to learn more about the human body.

With better balancing of its fighting mechanics, this would be a superb arcade-based distraction, but right now its frustration levels are a little too high to make it un-put-down-able.

Despite adding a somewhat interesting enemy-evasion mechanic to a traditional match-three idea, the game feels a lot like a lazy add-on meant to squeeze a few more dollars out of an already successful franchise—kind of like the app equivalent to Angry Birds beach towels.

Most iOS games are good for about ten minutes, and then immediately deleted. But Bridgy Jones is at its best hours later, with little charm to hold you over until then. If you’re a fan of the genre, this is probably for you; but if you still need to arrive at that station, well this train don’t stop there anymore.

Between the interface issues and the unusual approach to gameplay, I can't bring myself to give Girl With a Heart Of a full-on recommendation.

It lacks the substance and staying power of other mobile games in the series like Assassin’s Creed Pirates, but it’s an experiment that works well and does better than one might expect.

Your time spent with Dragon Quest of the Stars will be positive or negative depending on how you feel about gacha games in general. This does nothing to break the mould, and that might be absolutely fine for you. It is Dragon Quest too, so if you’re a fan of the franchise you might get a kick out of this simply for that. As we mentioned earlier, it’s not a bad game, it’s just a pretty standard example of a gacha.

Here's the real issue with Treemaker... with only 18 levels here you're only going to get, at most, two hours of entertainment out of it. Then you're finished and there's nothing left to do but delete it from your phone.

What LOUD on Planet X offers in imaginative thinking, it doesn’t quite follow through in its execution. It’s fun, but that fun is limited. Though if you’re a big fan of one of the bands featured, you’re sure to enjoy it more than most.

For what it is, Meganoid 2017 is fine if you can get past the control irritations and weirdly spontaneous platforming rule changeups. There’s a fun game here, I can see it. But I so rarely get to experience it with everything being the way it is. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that an update takes care of the button issue if nothing else. But hey, if none of that is an issue for you, then more power to you. We hope you can find the fun that we keep coming so close to.

For social gaming fans who never quite "got" the Pokemon craze, Mighty Monsters is sure to give you a nostalgia you never even had; in no time its adorable visuals will have you replacing "Pikachu" with your own staple and raising it up diligently.

Kirby’s Return To Dream Land Deluxe is a well presented title that does have more ideas than most 2D platformers – but they’re presented in such a chaotic way that we can’t imagine anyone but the very young (and their parents) getting much enjoyment out of them.

Even with its flaws, there are aspects of the game that are a lot of fun. In turn-based play, if you’ve got a solid partner it’s possible to recapture all of the basic fun of the original game. Control sensitivity might not lead to the prettiest pictures, but they can be pretty hilarious. Some players have complained about the variety of clues, but in hundreds of games, repeats have thus far been rare. The graphics are cute and characters are friendly. Altogether, these still aren’t quite enough to outweigh the more problematic aspects of the game. They might, however, be enough to keep a critical mass of players around long enough to make improvements that future players will benefit from worthwhile.

A solidly-designed package that would surely entice any thief-in-training to take a look. With this one, the only problem is that the package you're snagging is less "diamonds" and more "diamonds in the rough."

For a budget price, existing Weebl fans will find more than enough to love in Russian Dancing Men. With uninspired yet surprisingly demanding gameplay though, it might be a tough sell for anyone else. Do yourself a favour and enjoy Weebl's animated goodness for free on weebls-stuff.com before investing in the app. If you have a finer appreciation for his work, it'll make what's on offer here much more palatable.

Ketchapp Winter Sports may not wow, but it does have a lot going for it. Its graphics are bright and welcoming. The gameplay is simple and intuitive. Perhaps best of all, it’s fast and frustrating in the best possible way without being addictive. It’s easy to pick up and put down without any sense of missing out. Rather than making the game forgettable, this will likely add to its longevity.

If you’ve played Game of Thrones Ascent, you know Disruptor Beam is going to get to the bottom of all of the glitches, shine up the gameplay and create some great social elements. I just wish they did all of that first, since I’m reviewing the game as it exists right now.

Overall, I think Ashwood Valley need to invest more in plot and engagement. It’s all well and good having cute maps and designs, but without lore, nothing is compelling me to appreciate the overall game.

Fans of previous Pocket Gems releases are probably going to like what's available here, but with so little to keep players engaged, it's just too thin an offering to get really excited about.

Even with this laundry list of problems, Shadow Escaper is still worth a download. It’s free, so you won’t be out anything, and it’s one of a very few games I’m willing to describe as lovably insane. It's possible you'll hate it, but it's just as possible you'll fall in love with its particular brand of weirdness.

Dashero: Sword and Magic plays by the usual rules, stomping along the same path that plenty of other games have strode down before. It’s fun in small doses, but it doesn’t have the staying power to stick along if you’re looking for something to fill up longer play sessions.

Zombie Cookin' had a lot of promise, it's just unfortunate that it fell into the same old traps and mistakes a lot of games like it make. If you want to make dishes on your iPhone or iPad, may I suggest Cooking Mama instead?

It's not bad in any sense, just devoid of much in the way of originality

Team17 has crafted an intriguing little mobile game here, but in the end you’re going to want to reach for their much meatier fare. (R)evolve isn’t going to change the world, no matter how many times you spin it.

There’s a whole lot of downtime, and even when you are interacting with the app there isn’t much to do. However, while it’s not necessarily compelling there is a quiet sense of satisfaction to be had with it. Seeing these plants mature, even with very little involvement, still feels like something of an accomplishment.

These features are the pull to keep playing Sound Ride. They don’t completely make up for the frustrating physics and unavoidably frequent deaths, but their presence promises more good things may be yet to come when developer OutOfTheBit releases additional—and free—stages.

There's nothing inherently wrong with MaXplosion, but it really didn't wow me that much.

Super Monkey Ball Bounce is a decent game.

Bush Rescue is a hard game to fully recommend, especially at its high price-tag. Those looking for a sweet hit of nostalgia won’t be disappointed – this is an excellent port and runs smoothly in handheld and docked modes – but anyone expecting a hidden gem will only find a title with a rough edge too many.

It offers nothing new of note, the trading feature isn't implemented yet, and it's just flat-out dull – and that's saying something, given that the genre isn't exactly known for its off-the-hook gameplay excitement.
