There is still work to be done on this series; the physics still need work and the difficulty still needs to be more carefully balanced. However, it's hard to hate any aspect of this game, even the parts that don't work so well, as it's the most successful attempt yet at recapturing the magic of the original games.

007 Bloodstone is a solid entry in the world of James Bond assisted by strong production standards and acting talent. The actual gaming aspect lets the overall piece down somewhat. As a stopgap to the next Bond film it'll do as a pit stop but the only aspect you'll return to for a while is the multiplayer mode.

Ivy the Kiwi? is a worthwhile additional to your DS library, but just don't expect a classic.

Super Meat Boy is unlikely to touch the sales records of the powerhouse physical releases. However it may well find itself as a surprise entry to may game of the year lists. What it does, it does to absolute perfection. Super Meat Boy is a game made by sadists, for masochists.

John Daly's ProStroke Golf can only be considered a disappointment. The golfing mechanics are no more than acceptable, and the presentation is poor.

Sadly outside of the main mode Kung Fu Rider offers very little else for your money.

Although it costs 1200 Microsoft Points, Assault certainly offers more value for money than Impact, and just about gets the nod over its predecessor.

The new title feels like it was made by someone who has only ever seen Youtube videos of the 2D Sonic games and taken a very poorly educated guess on how it should control.

In the fight for this year's FPS crown, Medal of Honor has landed a few early punches, but not the knock-out blow.

There's no incentive to save the Leopold and her crew from destruction, and playing through the game feels more like a chore than a challenge. It's a valiant attempt at reinvigorating an old franchise, but one that ultimately fails to make an impact.

Length and audio issues aside, this is a solid re-imagining of one of gaming's most iconic series, and far and away the best 3D Castlevania game ever made.

Front Mission Evolved is an interesting experiment from Square Enix. It is far from a success and at times feels far too removed from the key components that made the series popular. Double Helix Games have attempted something new, which is commendable, albeit considerably flawed.

F1 2010 is a fine starting point from Codemasters who deserve credit for putting together this comprehensive release. Generally, our high expectations have been met; it's where the series goes next that will be the true test.

Halo: Reach is far from the classic that many would have you believe, it's all too easy to bask in the hype and become bludgeoned by the praise. Time will show that it falls short, but nevertheless online is Bungie's masterpiece.

For now, despite the niggles and frustrations, the sum total of Mafia II's parts is greater than it should be and still equals an enjoyable romp through what you might expect old-school Mafia life to be like. How much you enjoy the game really does come down to your patience levels and how much leeway you're prepared to give.

If the game had continued to be developed as Gladiator A.D. it might not have sold but at least that seemed like a project the developers could have been proud of. This game absolutely reeks of a rushed development cycle after the change in tone in pursuit of sales.
