Assassin's Creed Pirates is about shallow sea combat and fast boats. A simple, but entertaining snack.

Mercenary Kings is a decent game that approaches the action shooter genre in an original way. Some parts haven’t been executed on all that well though, which makes the game feel slow and boring at times.

Maquette starts off strong, but halfway through the story we forgot why the gameplay and the story were such a great match. Maquette offers a fun way to play with scale and is therefor still worth the try.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is a fun platform and action game, but nothing more than that. It's a decent HD-reincarnation of The Sands of Time.

Don’t let yourself be fooled by the easy controls of Fantasy Life, as this new Level-5 world is a lovely one to discover. Backtracking is not great, but with that many content we cannot really complain.

Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection is just as mean as it used to be. Thankfully you've got option now to change the difficulty level a bit.

Bomberman Land Touch! 2 is just like its predecessors. Very enyoable. The story mode is mostly the same as the first game in the series. The combination of the classic Bomberman-mode and a online option guarantees us of hours of play.

Zoo Tycoon looks polished, the animals are incredibly cute and they're a joy to take care of. A lack of depth and an incomprehensible interface hold it back.

Like Steep, Riders Republic doesn't have a storyline, fancy style, important dialogue, or great music. Riders Republic is just a beautiful game world where you take on breakneck challenges. That turns out to be enough.

Dead Rising 3 is a typical zombie game with an enormous world to get lost in, countless weapons and vehicles to play with and more than enough zombies to slay. That sure is entertaining. Unfortunately boredom sets in, in a matter of hours. The 'normal' running, driving and killing isn't broken up enough by interesting things to do or events and the open world might be huge, but that's also why it bores. Luckily the game is fully playable in coop, which makes everything more enjoyable.

Vampyr is an intriguing adventure filled with moral choices to make, it is a pity the gameplay is such a disappointment.

If you don't take the clichés and rattling writing too seriously, Little Hope is a fun-filled adventure game with lots of scary moments. Choices are meaningful, characters really behave differently based on your decisions, and there are multiple disconnects to discover.

When Doom 3 originally came out, we could only dream of playing it in VR. Now that's a reality, we feel that Doom 3 is simply too old. Thankfully Archiact made it very intuitive.

When playing the single player, Battleblock Theater is nothing more than a fun 2D platformer that’s challenging enough, but doesn’t do anything exceptionally well. It isn’t until playing the multiplayer that the game really comes into its own and becomes a absurd and very entertaining party game. The controls leave something to be desired and its pace could be quicker from time to time, but thanks to the excellent level editor and a few brilliant mini-games, it takes a while before Battleblock becomes a bore.

Charlie Murder relives the good old days when games like Double Dragon and Streets of Rage reigned supreme. As fun as that may be, Charlie Murder also forgets to get with its time. This beat ‘m up offers a sizable amount of fun, with some antique concepts.

Alien Shooter Vengeance is surprisingly fun! It’s brainless shooting at everything that moves with an appealing storyline. A very good combination.

Despite its expansive career-mode, Yoostar 2 is a title that you'll play fanatically for days on end. It's prominently a game used to breathe new life into parties. The game's concept is decent and offers enough options for someone to pretend they're a famous actor alone, or with a friend. HarmoKnight is a colorful rhythm platformer, available through the Nintendo 3DS eShop and made by the developers of Pokémon, that will keep you busy for about six hours. Thanks to the 50 levels and solid gameplay it’s worth the pretty high price of fifteen Euros. The characters and the story are very generic though. The standard levels are the most fun as well: the game sometimes experiments with different takes, which they shouldn’t have done in our opinion.

Spirits of Spring is a safe game that will teach kids about bullying and friendship. The message is loud and clear, but game is very easy. Therefor Spirits of Spring is not for adults, just for children.

Although the flight model and therefore the simulation is better than ever, there are too many small irritations in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 that affect the experience. The career mode is a valuable addition and the game is almost endlessly replayable for both casual and hardcore simmers. With a lot of love and dedication from developer Asobo and support from publisher Microsoft, it could well be that this is the absolute top in the field of flight simulations in a few months. The game does not reach those heights at the moment.

With its bizarre characters and their big range of skills, Battleborn has some very entertaining moments, especially when playing it with friends. Unfortunately the single-player missions are not very entertaining. Except for the new graphical coat it was given, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is a very accurate port of the excellent DS-game. It could have been a tad faster though, keeping the console audience in mind. It's a shame though, that the few flaws of the game's formula have not been addressed.

This game offers an amazing atmosphere and design that really puts you right in the middle of the Conan universe. It is a pity the ending makes you do a lot of grinding and the end-game content is a let-down too. If you can stand the bugs, the journey in Conan Exiles might be worth your while.

The PlayStation Vita-variant is an emulation of the original Virtua Tennis. That means that it doesn't surprise, is once again packed with mini games and comes with a relatively expansive career mode. It even works better on a handheld. Virtua Tennis 4 is a decent launch game.

The Missing is not the most perfect game we have seen this autumn, but it does have its heart in the right place. The bizarre platformaction has fun puzzles and a lovely story to really pull you in.

Shooting monkeys for points is what everything secretly wants. A game that will make you giggle at all its brilliant stupidity.

MotorStorm RC leaves us with mixed feelings. The MotorStorm spin-off is an ideal portable game with short races and no load-times. Simply put, WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 is the most complete and best wrestling game on the market and a must have for you spandex loving wrestle fans.

Naruto is a great action game that lives up to its series with ease. What stands out is the overal quality of the graphics, sound and the unique battle system. Unfortunatly there will be no 'friends battle frenzies' because of a total absence of any type of online play. Nevertheless Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm adds a new breeze of fresh air in the fighting genre and even the players that are new to the Naruto world will enjoy this game.

Asura's Wrath proves how awesome anime can be, but at the same time also how ridiculous it is. With exaggerated quick-time events, absurdly long battles with bosses and a lack of actual gameplay make this the perfect translation from anime to a game. Unfortunately this doesn't automatically create a perfect game.

Dead Rising 4 is an amazing game that gives you the opportunity to go ballistic on hordes of zombies. But, it does not offer a lot more than just that.

Playing Endless Ocean 2 is like taking a nice warm bath. It isn’t really an effective manner to freshen up, but it relaxes intensively. Not everybody will be able to appreciate this game soaked in Japanese gameplay elements, but Endless Ocean 2 offers a beautiful world to explore. Anyone who ever wanted to discover the secrets of the ocean from his couch can buy this game without any hesitation.

Harvest Moon: Magical Melody is a successful conversion from the Gamecube to the Wii. Fans will enjoy the game, but newcomers will also like the addictiveness of this game and its unique style. But the game is technically a bit behind, the difficulty is low and the story is a bit boring.

51 Worldwide Games is filled with classic games that offer relaxation. It is fun to check out what's on offer, but the quality per game can be very different from one another. Most of them are pretty cool though.

The game does a lot of things right, just like the early versions on the NES and the PlayStation. The game is easy to pick up without having a short lifespan. Nevertheless even the graphics seem to be copied from his early ancestors and the whole game concept feels a little recycled. Only die-hard RPG fans will find some pleasure in the game.

Defiance has the honor of being the first open world shooter-MMO on consoles. The game absolutely has its fun moments, but there are too many technical problems that bring down the good fundamentals. The biggest evildoer is the framerate, that can get pretty nauseating during large firefights, and negatively affects the response time. Underneath these glitches hides a good and well thought-out game.

Overlord is still a very nice game a year after the original release. The graphics are a bit dated though, and the PlayStation 3 version isn't adding anything really fresh from the original, even though the developers had plenty of time.

State of Mind is a thriller with an interesting story taking place in an atmospheric world that digs deep into ethical questions about what it is to be human and artificial intelligence.

The real fans undoubtly have DMC4 in their homes already and may think the positive in the game outweights the negative. With that said, the game wasn't able to win us over like "God of War" did. Devil May Cry might have a better fighting-system and more boss battles, but falls short aside from that. Not a must-have in the genre at all.

Although Tiger Woods is the golfer whom it is all about, the attention sort of slides from his lap onto the Master-tournament. This turns Tiger words PGA Tour 12: The Masters into an authentic and fresh golfing experience. It's just such a shame that Electronic Arts chose to keep all downloadable content and online functionalities tightly under their own care.

This might sound like a dating game, it is mostly a story about fatherhood. Beautiful art and entertaining stories, but not enough depth to really shine.

The Demon Blade pulls everyone to the television screen with it’s fantastic art direction. It also plays like a dream, but after a while you might get bored, because this game is simple. There’s not only little challenge, but also little variation in what you do. It’s a shame, because visually this must be one of the highlights of the this generation on any console. Still, you would do well to try this one out.

Owlboy looks amazing and has a soul, but the story is a let-down. The gameplay gets interrupted all the time, which is frustrating.

Twin Mirror is not Dontnod's most daring project. Even the most innovative gameplay elements deviate little from the beaten track or only partially succeed. As a shorter, more streamlined adventure with a grim atmosphere, it's also a great snack.

Transformers Devastation is a good game that shows respect and love for the original Transformers. Developer Platinum Games has found the right look and feel, but it does forget to add variety to this game. The gameplay mechanics could have been more thought through as well.

Sonic Chronicles is a solid Roleplaying Game. Especially the use of color, fluid combat and the diversity in mini-games are really persuasive. On the other hand, the story is hardly worth following and feels rather dull. But, in all fairness, Sonic Chronicles will give you lots of gameplay, even if you don't like blue hedgehogs.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood has a unique and action packed setting and offers some interesting gameplay mechanics.

Starlink offers a refreshing view on toys-to-life with a lot more seriousness than its competitors. Its an expensive one though.

Snake Pass reminds us of the Nintendo 64 era of three dimensional platformers, but with a unique gameplay twist. The game is original, super upbeat and fun to play, but it could have been much more.

Runes of Magic won't win a price for originality. If that's something you can look past, Runes of Magic will get you going for hours and hours. And there is no excuse for not trying because the game is completely free. Just download and play.

The Sims Medieval offers an amusing The Sims experience in an original way, which breathes new life into the franchise. The setting has been chosen well, there's plenty of variation and the The Sims humour is present once again. That doesn't take away from the fact that this shift in time will make fans who miss certain key elements drop the franchise as a whole.

Overwatch 2 does a lot of good, but at the same time almost everything went wrong before, around and after launch. It's hard to see the wood for all those trees of mistakes, when somewhere in that mess is still hiding one of the best shooters of the moment. Part two makes some much-needed improvements that make it play better in theory than ever before. Unfortunately, in practice, the many bugs and server problems predominated last week. It is therefore 'better' that part two is free-to-play, because you can't really ask for money for this.

Rymdkapsel is a special strategy game for your tablet or phone. Play it for fifteen minutes and you'll end up confused. Play it longer and you'll imagine you're playing a classic RTS, without a story though. Rymdkapsel looks charming with its minimalistic graphics and limits itself to the essentials, but in the end this is also the reason why it plays like many other games in the genre.

Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment offers exactly what you expect from it: a strategic role-playing game that is slightly flawed because of the archaic game design, but that still offers a decent gaming experience.

Stoked is a good snowboard game. The vibe and the wide environments are a pleasure for the senses, and while the trick system takes some getting used to, it takes an hour or so of practice to get to the bottom of the mountain in style. The challenges you have to do pale by comparison, unfortunately. Also, the online-mode offers no challenge whatsoever, leaving you bored in a matter of hours.

The House of the Dead offers a great package of humour and style. The game has turned a boring genre into a wonderful spoof with a little help of some zombies and two cheeky cops. However, keep in mind that railshooters are pretty limited in terms of gameplay and length and aiming at a sensor on top of the tv is far from ideal. Nevertheless, we still want to congratulate Sega for a job well done, in turning House of the Dead into a very funny game.

Fairytale Fights is a product Dutch gamers can be proud of. When playing alone, the game offers many hours of enjoyment in lush environments. Better yet, these environments will soon be painted red with the blood of your opponents. The multiplayer is a little hectic and falls short, though.

The game lacks real character, but it also brings an almost childish enthusiasm to the player that makes up for it.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies is a fun new version of a very addicting game. The addition of the higher price, however, might be too much for the extra content that is added in the game compared to the Arcade-version. It doesn't mean Geometry Wars isn't worth some money, because even though the concept is simple, it remains one of the most fun games of recent years.

The sequel to the immensely popular Temple Run isn't a game that reinvents the genre or does anything radically new. It's the same infectious concept as its predecessor but with a few minor differences. That means it's still an addicting game that you'll probably play for longer than you were expecting.

Assetto Corsa Competizione has unsurpassed physics for console terms and offers PS4 and Xbox One players the most realistic racing experience. However, you have to endure a lot of technical malnutrition for that.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a melancholic and compelling shooter made in the most extraordinary circumstances. The beautiful and filled to the brim game world is accompanied by frustrating AI and graphical errors. In addition, the experience is not much different from the previous parts. Despite that, Stalker 2 is a game that you can spend hours in. The more effort you put into exploring the Zone, the more it will yield.

Bangai-O is a one of a kind videogame. The only game that you can compare it with is the first installment of Bangai-O. And that's equally good as it is bad. Good, because it's totally different then anything else. Bad, because it will be hard for players to get accustomed to the series. In all fairness Bangai-O is a very good game but it gives the player litte chance to ease into the game.

Syndicate shows a lot of potential, but never seems to come out of its shell. For that, it just feels all too familiar. It delivers on a delightful atmosphere though, and the coöp mode will keep players busy for a couple of intense hours. A fine snack, but definitely not the cult classic the old Syndicate was.

Thymesia has copied a little too much from 'big brother' Bloodborne. The game has more than enough due to the phenomenal combat system. In this respect it is perhaps better than its two biggest sources of inspiration and such an achievement cannot but be rewarded. Even if it involves unabashed stealing.

While it won't make you the next Van Gogh or Cézanne, Art Academy certainly provides you with the basic toolset to develop your dormant talent. However, it doesn't come close to replacing the real thing.

Tropico 6 is a fun game that can be a bit unclear at some moments, but at the same time, it is just so much fun. There aren't too many surprises, but the introduction of a group of islands is fresh and new. It's definitely an ode to the series, but not a revolution.

Solar Ash is one of the most beautiful games of the year and plays incredibly fluid at times. Unfortunately, frustrating boss battles and erratic controls throw a spanner in the works, because this beautiful game world deserves to be explored and the platforming puzzles are fun to do.

Building MX vs. ATV Reflex from the ground up has had a positive result in a way. Rider Reflex and terrain deformation make the motocross- and ATV races very challenging. The rest of the vehicles seem to have been neglected by the developer and disturb the balance of the game during the mixed races. Despite the flaws the game will still be very much enjoyed by fans of the sport.

The fun you can get from Do It Yourself is totally dependent on the effort you want to put into making your own minigames. If you only want to play the little games, you can find much better games in the WarioWare series. But if you love making your own games, you'll find yourself engrossed in this game for weeks.

Nerf N-Strike is a finished product with a handful of nice, little minigames. The game is intended for the youngest among gamers and will probably be appealing enough for this particular audience. And besides that, is pretty fun to shoot at people with the included Nerf gun.

Abzû successfully copies the most important and much-loved features of Journey, but it misses that polish to make it just as memorable as Journey.

Although it isn't easy to release a decent RTS game on a handheld, Civilization: Revolution succeeds with ease. Even after you played several scenarios the game still doesn't bore you. Off course the DS version lacks the overview of it's console counterpart but is definitely worth your money.

Making History makes Kerbal Space Program fun, but they are not a necessary addition to the game. We do really love the mission designer, which is an amazing tool that is worth sharing.

Jak and Daxter are finally back, but the quality of the gameplay in The Lost Frontier isn’t quite up there with the games on the PlayStation 2. The game tries to hide this by swapping different styles of gameplay very often, but this only ensures that the platforming isn’t getting the attention it deserves. However, the presentation is of high quality and it lifts this game above the average.

Deadbolt feels like a less thought-through combination of Hotline Miami and Gunpoint. The game can be frustrating and difficult, which is partly because the game just is not that well made. It is okay, but very short.

MMA has enough moments that are worthwhile. It's just too bad that EA hasn't learned from the strong and weak points of the competition. The controls aren't always working properly and the number of modes are a little on the thin side. However, true MMA-fans will be able to ignore these faults.

Hotline Miami 2 offers the same bloody action puzzles as the original and is a thrill to play. Everything that is different from its predecessor is quite the opposite, they just don't work.

House of Wolves offers more than The Dark Below, but it does play it safe.. Especially when it comes to gameplay, House of Wolves does not offer anything new like in the Raids. But the content injection is a great thing for diehard Destiny-players, especially the Player versus Player-types.

Resistance Retribution is a solid and well thought through action game. It offers a more than worthy part in the Resistance series, even though Sony Bend doesn't do everything right. If you want to play a great portable action game, than this is the one you're looking for.

Tekken 6 is like the previous games, only with some badly thought-out new ideas. If you play Tekken 6 for the old, familiar modes, you’ll have the most complete and balanced game in the series. If you try out anything else, like the not so clever scenario-campaign, be prepared to be disappointed. The online-mode also has terrible lag at the moment of writing.

No matter if you only watch the blockbusters or actually collect every Marvel comic out there: this game is fun for everyone. There is a funny story, a great variety in super heroes and amazing co-op gameplay.

BioWare is known for its storytelling but Andromeda fails on this element. It is not original, nor logical nor deep. Thankfully the tuned fighting system is brilliant, as is traveling to the beautiful planets.

With an impressive proprietary programming language, Gamestudio brings games development to the masses. Inventing and making your own games is explained with the help of seven extensive lessons, but sharing your own creations remains limited. It hardly spoils the fun, because the greatest fun lies in tinkering and experimenting. That part also has its limitations, but this is an extremely accessible entry point for the real handymen.
