Uncharted 3 is one of the most incredible adventures you can ever live in a videogame. Storytelling, digital acting, tireless pace, and brilliant solutions to hide the linearity are there, as well as a dense multiplayer, to entertain any kind of gamer.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a very valid title, which once again demonstrates the enormous commitment made by the Square Enix team in the reconstruction and expansion of the seventh final fantasy. Although this second part of the journey of Cloud and his companions was not as "unknown" as promised, we appreciated all the narrative elements devised by the screenwriters of the Japanese giant, with the sole exception of the final chapter, which unfortunately proved to be lacking in several ways. wait. That said, the action RPG remains one of the most engaging and satisfying works of the House of Chocobo, which for the occasion has strengthened the role-playing component with the introduction of crafting, synergistic actions and an affinity system that will certainly be perfected with the arrival of the third and final part of the Remake Trilogy. However, the exploration is the most convincing aspect of the package, since outside of Midgar the albeit dying world of Final Fantasy VII has opened up to show us a good part of its wonders. On the downside, the technical sector is unfortunately mainly linked to the quality standards of the last generation. We will therefore have to wait for the next episode to truly enter the next-gen and witness the definitive rebirth of Final Fantasy VII.

Super Mario Bros Wonder has one precious merit: it's too much fun. Several times we found ourselves putting off finishing a game session, eager to see what surprise the next level would have in store for us. The innovations introduced in this new chapter are truly numerous, from the power-up system linked to the pins to the surreal effects generated by the Wonder Flowers. The exclusive Nintendo Switch focuses a lot on surprise, but does not forget to deploy an admirable level of attention to detail and a very solid technical sector. The regret remains for the absence of memorable boss fights and for a level of challenge which, in our opinion, could have been calibrated a little higher. Net of these considerations, Super Mario Bros Wonder still remains an excellent product, capable of taking Mario and his friends on new gaming paths.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed is the answer to fans' dreams, as well as a solid bridge that inextricably links the first two numbered chapters of the franchise to the third. Indeed, to be completely precise, Tetsuya Takahashi has seized the opportunity to bring order to the continuity of "Xeno" and establish once and for all what is or is not part of it. Whether it's the end of the long narrative arc that began on Wii way back in 2010 or just the beginning of a new (Xeno) saga, Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed is undoubtedly an obligatory stop for any fan of the brand, who after years of doubts and speculations will find more or less all the coveted answers. A passionate love letter that we had hoped to read last year and which despite the delay has finally reached our homes.

It's exactly what Miyazaki and the rest of his team promised. A dark, sick universe where you'll be constantly spiraling. It has courage, as it takes the legacy of the Souls saga in a new direction, it has an unique Victorian style, and it has one of the most impressive settings ever, as Yharnam will really stick with you. It isn't perfect, maybe rough around some technical and online edges, but it's still the quintessential action RPG of the modern age.

Forza Horizon 5 is the pinnacle of the Playground Games series and is the new king of open world courses. To oust such a noble predecessor was not easy but the Leamington boys have further embellished the playful recipe and made the progression in Horizon Adventure clearer. In addition to the splendid expeditions around Mexico, the arrival of 360-degree editors such as Event Lab will allow the community to create wonders and expand a basic offer with few equals, both in terms of quantity and quality. Hypercars of all brands are even more enjoyable to drive and the audiovisual presentation goes to great lengths to strive for the full next-gen. While waiting to know what the future holds for us as a flagship team of the Xbox family, we can finally enjoy this monumental experience.

When it comes to story, lore and characters, The Witcher 3 is simply stunning, a milestone in western RPGs. Although the gameplay is quite varied, and the offer in terms of quests and exploration rich, the combat system still lacks depth, and structure as questing never changes. As it is, it's a perfect game for whoever like to dive deep into a believable and vast imaginary world, but not for gameplay purists.

Metaphor: ReFantazio has undoubtedly carved out a place for itself among the best proposals from ATLUS, which this time has finally found the courage to break out of its usual patterns and propose something vaguely different, especially in terms of setting and narrative structure. With a brand new job system, the combat system halfway between Persona and Shin Megami Tensei is one of the most successful elements of the package, as it offers a level of customization never seen before in an ATLUS game. Unfortunately, the eight years of development weigh like a millstone on the visual rendering of the product, which however defends itself with a valuable artistic direction and a musical accompaniment of the highest level. It will not be the authentic revolution that many expected, nevertheless Metaphor: ReFantazio remains a must-see for anyone who professes to be a lover of the JRPG genre.

Chrono Trigger was and still is a "must have" for RPG lovers. And not only for the historical importance of the game, but because even today, after fourteen years from the first release, there are few Jrpg that can compete against the Square-Enix title for the supremacy regarding plot, screenplay, character charisma and emotive impact. Anyway, to fully appreciate this game, the player have to ignore an evident technical backwardness, that the porting have not wiped out.

And it brings solid improvements to the user interface and the combat system. There wouldn't have been a better way to say goodbye to the Witcher.

At least as regards the playful and narrative component, the re-edition for PC and home console of Dragon Quest XI S is confirmed as a product of impeccable quality. Being a port of the Switch version, the graphic compromises have remained almost unchanged, but this time the title compensates for its artistic shortcomings with a doubled frame rate, almost zero loading times and a resolution finally in 4k, which consequently guarantee very high performance level.
