Gamesoft is on to something with Clockwork; an interesting premise, a unique story, and characters that didn’t actually feel two-dimensional and bland. This expansion is a great buy for players of either the Vampire or Empire factions. It is a more modest price then the last piece of DLC for almost the same amount of content. Roots of Insanity is not a complete disaster; it offers some weak jump-shocks glued together by an adequate if cliched story. Gameplay is straightforward and its few or so hours of game time have their moments of excitement and even a few twists. But its fatal flaw is that, on a basic level, it just isn’t very scary. For the most part, Shock Tactics is a solid strategy game that takes inspiration from a plethora of titles but is steeped in a unique world with Prometheus-like vibes. Its superb ability to weave gameplay and story together through its narration keeps the game going and environments have a unique look to them. The core gameplay is frantic and fun, but I’m always feeling bamboozled. You’re given a wide range of abilities that feel distinct and well-constructed, but they get you no closer to the top of the tower. The music is amazing, but it has to work very hard to dissolve my frustration. I hate myself for going back, but I feel compelled to anyway. In a way, this game is an amazing recreation of that ‘arcade’ feeling. You’re pumping in fistfuls of coins, desperately hoping that this time will be different. To the developers’ credit, this palpable frustration and compulsion to continue balance out pretty well. I’ve said out loud, to multiple people, that I hate this game. Technically, the superb hand-drawn art is alive and well in the DLC with satisfying blood splatter and the über-fluid animations of horses and other wildlife. There isn’t much of any sound to immerse yourself in though, which is especially a shame for a title that should have had me craving to explore a fully realized Western world like in the upcoming Red Dead 2. FARHOME seems to suffer from an identity crisis. It tries to do something radically different with each mission, but doesn’t stick with one idea long enough to generate anything of interest. If the present is any indication, then FARHOME has a long way to go if it wants to compete in the VR shooter market. There are many issues to be addressed, with the biggest one being a lack of originality in the content. At this point in time, one is better off replaying the games that FARHOME borrows from.

The story moves at a comfortable pace and the characters are all easy to love. Despite the fact that none of them speak a single word and their backstories are nothing extravagant, there is a certain charm to each of them.

The game is fun and different than most other games I’ve dabbled in, but I found it became redundant quickly.

Although my own experience with this game has been a profoundly negative one, I can’t completely condemn it. After all, the graphics are delightful and the premise is an engrossing one.

Animal Super Squad just isn’t all that interesting to play. Why? It simply feels like it’s manufactured to try and capitalize on what made certain other games successful for streamers and content creators across the internet. Sometimes that very well may work, but in this case, it just feels shallow.

Walden, a game turns a gorgeous piece of literary work into an interactive experience where the player can truly live out Thoreau’s vision and experiment. For those seeking excitement and thrill, this title will likely bore you. However, for educators or those looking for a short, calming episode that connects the player to the underappreciated beauty of nature (without actually having to leave the home), Walden is a great little option.

This is a perfect game for VR neophytes and children, as well as those that like puzzle/3D platforming style of games.

I would jokingly say that this game is where these memes went to die, forced to fight each other for all eternity in purgatory.

It delivers what it promises – a depressingly-realistic simulation of utterly boring inter-urban train transportation.

    ZIQ
While it largely follows its predecessors in the endless runner genre, ZIQ makes a rewarding effort to differentiate itself with challenging game mechanics and a bold personality. Difficult and fun, the game could use some more attention on UI to give players targets to aim at and a goal to keep on running to.
