A beautiful mystery, with gorgeous visuals and a sublimely moving soundtrack.

I was honestly very surprised at how short the game was, and though I really enjoyed my time spent playing through Reaching for Petals, I find it difficult to recommend paying for something that won’t give you much more than an hour’s worth of gameplay with little to no replayability. I feel selfish asking for more of the same, but if Reaching for Petals carried on for a few more hours I’d be singing a completely different tune.

Ultimately, because of Reaching for Petals‘ short running time, it feels more like a tech demo than an actual, fully-formed video game experience. It’s more of a showcase of “just look what the Unreal Engine can do!” than anything else. I guess, being Blue Entropy Studios’ first game, in some ways it is a tech demo. The team has demonstrated their incredible ability, and it leaves me excited for what may come next with a little more experience under their belt. But while Reaching for Petals may be impressive visually, there’s just not enough there to make it truly worthwhile.

Reaching for Petals is a fantastic looking game with a brilliant heart-warming story to accompany it. It’s something that captivates you fromReaching for Petals is a fantastic looking game with a brilliant heart-warming story to accompany it. It’s something that captivates you from start to finish with its visuals and great narration throughout. It takes around just over an hour to complete but even when you’re done, something is there pulling you back in and I cant quite put my finger on what it is I just know I want to have another go. It's incredibly hard to deny this game is beautiful, everything from the scenery, to the narration, to the music is amazing. I had goosebumpsIt's incredibly hard to deny this game is beautiful, everything from the scenery, to the narration, to the music is amazing. I had goosebumps on my arms almost the entire time. That being said, this game has some major draw backs.
    1) It's only an hour of gameplay. You could either buy the game or watch the walk through on youtube when it gets released.
    2) When I say "gameplay" i use that term pretty loosely, there's barely any interaction with the environment or the game itself. It's a gorgeous walking simulator, a very slow walk I might add.
    3) I also want to mention that it is not very well optimized. Although it may vary based on specs, but I'm currently running an i5-6500 and an Rx 480 4gb. Which is pretty respectable. However I was barely managing an average fps of 40 and there was also some screen tearing, even if I turned their vsync on to 30hz which I didn't enjoy, make the game feel more unrealistic at such low frame rates.

Bottom line. Would I recommend you buy the game?
Yes. IF you can afford it.
I think the people that made this game have tremendous talent and this proves it, with some funding, I think they could make amazing games.
However, if you cannot afford to play this game I definitely suggest watching a walk through online especially if you need to something to help calm you down.
