Thankfully Starpoint Gemini Warlords provides me with more enjoyment even though in my opinion I think it’s the weakest game of the series so far. The gameplay on the whole is as fun as ever and when all the different mechanics click together you end up having a really enjoyable time. Unfortunately though I found the fun factor to be quite low in the campaign mode and the story didn’t help the campaign much, so I recommend that you play the game in the free-roam mode. The world in which the game takes place is pretty big and the best thing is that the game allows you to explore whatever you want, and I never got bored doing this because there was always something to do. Unfortunately the game doesn’t allow you the same sense of freedom when in battle and by doing this the combat became boring much quicker than it should have done. The missions in the main campaign also became boring much quicker than they should have done as well, and the main reason for that is because they lacked in terms of variety and challenge. The controls which are ever so important in a game like this thankfully hold up really well. Everything remains tight and responsive throughout and controlling your ship never felt frustrating and I always felt in control, which is great. Whilst some people may not like the presentation side of the game I actually found it to be quite charming. Visually the game can look superb at times and they’ve really done a great job of capturing the space-themed atmosphere. The sound design may not be anything special but in my opinion it did more than enough to help keep the immersive nature of the game ticking along. At the end of the day as far as strategy games go Starpoint Gemini Warlords is a decent addition to the genre despite it suffering with a few problems. These problems can be off-putting at times but if you ride them out you will find a very enjoyable game that has quite a lot going for it. Don’t get me wrong this game is certainly not for everybody, but those who have played and enjoyed these types of games before will find more than enough to satisfy them, and it certainly did enough to satisfy me so it gets a thumbs up from me.… Expand
