The story moves at a comfortable pace and the characters are all easy to love. Despite the fact that none of them speak a single word and their backstories are nothing extravagant, there is a certain charm to each of them.

Fun and interesting, Earthlock offers an intense RPG experience with very classic elements and a good playability, but also a little repetitive.

Though uneven at times, it’s clear that Snowcastle Games have gotten it mostly right in their attempt to evoke the JRPGs from the turn of the century… It’s just a bit disappointing that this focus on bringing back old conventions hasn’t resulted in an experience that feels like it does anything new.

The combat requires some strategies and very much so with the bosses. There is a big balanced problem in the end. My characters were top at level 20, but almost all the enemies in the end areas still felt too powerful. That part of the game was frustrating. There is item and ammo creation, powers and some weapons creation...but strangely there is no armor. Your protection relies on an upgrade board that uses switching cards. The warp system is stupid since you always have to come back to the same place to get somewhere else. The NPC interacting are rather slim and the side quest are ok but not that many. I really love the fact that each character had certain ability on the main map, and switching between them is required. The world map isn't that big. You get maybe 20 hours out of this game. I give it a 68%. A good RPG, but it carry some annoying problems. Expand
