May not pave any new roads for other PSP ports to follow, but it does deliver on all the elements that God of War fans have come to expect. And in that, it's a mighty, furious success.

The story is confusing and as far as I'm concerned you might as well forget trying to figure out the whole picture. Just concentrate on completing your current mission and everything will take care of itself.

Raven did a lot of things right - they didn't mess with success and that will please a lot of fans who enjoyed their previous effort.

It captures all the essence and excitement of the series even if it doesn't offer a lot of new elements.

In theme, premise, and execution, the classic Space Invaders is an archetypal cliché. Space Invaders Extreme recognizes this, and it succeeds where other revivals have failed because it isn't concerned with what Space Invaders was, nor does it try to imagine what Space Invaders would be had it been imagined today. Instead, Extreme looks at what Space Invaders is; what it means to all of us.

It still looks amazing, sets a great pace for an action title, and provides enough of a story to keep the player from going comatose. However, it’s difficult to justify paying the additional money for a whole new game when it’s just a standard expansion pack.

This game will have you wishing that it would never end and with 200 missions and a multi-player mode you will think you've died and gone to heaven.

The bottom line is if you're smart enough to read the title, you're smart enough to know what you're buying. So anime fans play to your heart's content. I know I am!

A Matrix game that FINALLY got it right. You're able to pull off all the cool moves and abilities that Neo possesses, including fighting off hundreds of Smiths at once, pole and all. With great graphics and great controls, this title will definitely impress with the first and second play through.

It shows the potential of the DS by exploiting its uniqueness, something that these next-gen console and future next-gen consoles will not be able to touch. Literally.

Anyone looking for a new MMO -- and especially anyone who likes Star Trek and wouldn't mind having some space combat thrown into the mix -- ought to give this game a shot. Not only does it have a lot of features lacking elsewhere in the MMO universe, but it's free to play, too.

Millennium Girl serves as an excellent example of how to refresh an old game and introduce it to a new audience. It keeps the basics that give the Etrian Odyssey series its identity, adds in the many improvements that have appeared in that series over its four entries, and provides new content, such as the redone labyrinth and Story Mode, to make the game feel fresh and new even to gamers who played the original.

The experience is quite nostalgic, and the game features plenty of side quests and special missions to extend the experience.

Self-esteem issues aside, The Red Star is a great game that stands on its own, despite the hardships its development went through.

The gameplay is actually deep but I do have a bit of a conundrum with the controls. They are simple to use but at the expense of what could have been an even deeper game.

It's not that Otogi doesn't deliver, it's just that I wished it delivered more depth in it's gameplay rather than relying on the "hey look at how insanely cool my graphics are" school of development.

For a change, the single-player mode is actually better than the multi-player mode. Expect weeks upon weeks of pure gaming fun.

The levels are varied and interesting; each one more fascinating than the next. The lighting effects, particle effects and sound effects are spectacular and even rival that of the Xbox version.

For some players this is exactly what they want and you can expect a lot of replay value out of this title if your goal is to beat them all and compete with your friends for high score.

The story is more or less self-contained, which means the previous titles are not really a prerequisite. It’s a solid shooter which can easily fill that weekend itch if you need something to play off the cuff. It will also tickle the fancy of my fellow history buffs, as the alternate timeline brings a “what if” spin on a dark piece of our past.

A scaled-down version of "MLB 2006" for the PS2. Some might even call it inferior and they would be right since it's missing a few modes, options and details.

You'll need a fairly souped up machine and graphics card to get the most out of Painkiller but if you have yearned for the return of games like "Serious Sam," "Doom" and the original "Quake" your next stop is Purgatory. Tell 'em I sent you.

Gatling Gears is fun. It's the kind of game that will practically force you to play it for longer than you planned. It looks great, it fits in to a long history of addictive games, and at five hours, it gives you your money's worth while leaving you wanting more. As far as I'm concerned, Gatling Gears II can't come soon enough.

Despite some game mechanic hiccups, Metro 2033 is a game worth trying. The inclusion of an alternate ending only adds to the appeal.

What you've got here is a new and improved version of last years game, with more modes and lackluster online play.

Minor gripes aside, this game really is quite good and should make fans of the original very happy. That being said, Silmeria is definitely not a game for anyone who is either an impatient player or a newcomer to RPGs.

It plays by its own rules and does so virtually flawlessly. The four-player mode guarantees plenty of replay value.

The good news is that Mortal Kombat: Deception is still a great without the online modes. It's intense, frenetic, strategic, violent and bloody.

Online is where Universe at War: Earth Assault comes into its own. It's not overly complex, but it offers plenty of depth with all of the various options and customizing features.

In many ways Assassin's Creed II: Discovery is big step up from its predecessor, and Griptonite's high energy, action-heavy approach is one that will sit well with many fans of the series. The downside is the overabundance of platforming stabby-stabbery tends to grow repetitive before long, and the trial-and-error nature of the level design is enough to make some players grow tired of the experience prematurely.

Gun is a darn good Western and really the only action title of its kind available for the Xbox 360, but since its already available on current gen consoles I wouldn't purchase a new system to play it.

It combined puzzles and action adventure with the platforming for an experience that was not only challenging but displayed depth and variety - and it doesn't feel old-school.

It's not important that you be familiar with the original, in some respects it may be better since you visit the same places over again. There are new characters and missions and the storyline will keep you intrigued and entertained.

The average gamer will probably tire with the gameplay after a few hours while the hardcore will rise to the challenge. It can get really tough, don’t kid yourself.

I will warn you that you can beat this in an afternoon. Take your time and go for the prizes.

If you're up for a real mental challenge, Picross 3D will give you quite a fix.

I was impressed and did not feel frustrated. I am also happy to point out I did not say "oh man they did not add this or that".

A solid set of new missions. The real benefits come with being able to fix the ending and explore more of the world afterwards.

LEGO City Undercover is an original, hilarious, and action-packed adventure that provides ample freedom and endless activities. It is apparent, however, that despite its revolutionary features back in 2013, the remastered version shows that many elements need retooling to be on par with current LEGO video games.

More user-friendly than the original. It's much more free despite what appears to be an overwhelming amount of decisions and option. This is a good thing however and thanks to the handy interface it couldn't be made easier.

These titles are true classics from the last generation. They have been skillfully upgraded by the folks at TT Games to give us the definitive edition.

It has plenty of star power and lots of different ways to play. However, it doesn't really have much in the way of innovative automotive gameplay, which really hinders it from being a must-own title.

If the rest of the games continue in the same progressive manner as this one, we might have another classic series on our hands.

Most of the time, it's the kind of game that simply brings a smile to your face as you enjoy the fresh world and amusing dialogue. If it weren't for the tedious side effects of the card system and the disappointingly unoriginal cast, it could be a genuine Game of the Year award contender.

A delicious shooter that teaches everyone that killing can be tons of fun as long as it's presented in a light hearted manner.

A great choice for anyone that wants to take a virtual axe on the go. As competent as the original, Decades brings another 28 quality songs to the mix that can be streamed between two DS.

For every minor flaw though, Conan redeems itself with cool little touches; we love pulling health-draining arrows from our chests and torching village huts to reveal orb-filled treasure chests.

There are an awful lot of moves assigned to each character and that means a lot of thinking. But this kind of thinking is good, it's deep and it relates to the gameplay.

An insanely enjoyable game that more than makes up for its lack of polish with its devilish charm. It's worth every penny of the twenty-dollar asking price.

With just a bit of patience in getting through its tutorial month, players will find themselves settling into this Harvest Moon experience for a good, long time.

If you're someone who likes strategy and appreciates the Sengoku period of Japanese history, you should love this game.

The story material is handled wonderfully (though if you've never read the books or watched the movies, prepare to be lost), and the gameplay is a great mix of familiar devices and new elements. Although the inevitable follow-up to this title may take a darker turn, I look forward to experiencing it all the same.

I was very pleased with Monsters vs. Aliens. Although it does not feature the most challenging gameplay for a seasoned gamer, the puzzle-platforming style of gameplay recalled older titles like Crash Bandicoot, and it is fun to play for both kids and adults.

Ten dollars seems like a bit much for what's on offer here, but the regimented design ensures you'll have a quick blast of fun for a long, long time.

Using logic and brainpower to deduce the facts is great fun, and the game is surprisingly entertaining.

The sound effects are varied and realistic but the musical soundtrack steals the show. Not only is there plenty of musical variation but it matches the moods of the game perfectly.

From the opening theme song to the realistic gun pops, you will not be disappointed with the sound.

I admit that I adore Yu-Gi-Oh! It's a great card game that translates perfectly to the videogame medium.

It's not just rehash, Ninja-Five-O does have some originality even though it borrows heavily from a variety of platformers. But you can't go wrong when you borrow all the best elements of classic games.

A fantastic game that has a lot to offer. It's got a unique flavor, some fantastic boss fights, excellent combat, slick visuals, and more than a few lines of dialogue that will have you laughing giddily. It also has a bit of an identity crisis that has you brutally killing waves of enemies one minute and cleaning the town of garbage the next, so the flow is a bit off.

A darn good adventure and one that should be taken by every serious gamer. It may not take the place of any "Grand Theft Auto" game but it could certainly hold its own against "Max Payne."

It's not bad by any means, it's just a shame none of it feels like something you need to experience; instead, RAAM's Shadow ends up feeling like a bland desert after an incredible feast.

Simultaneously walking the beaten path and wildly straying from it, Matrix Software has created a diverse action-RPG that’s very satisfying. The blend of both familiar and completely new gameplay elements in Avalon Code improves the experience rather than detracting from it.

Unfortunately the GameCube is my least favorite in terms of control, with the PS2 being the most comfortable controller to use... The GC D-Pad is entirely to small and finicky, the Xbox D-Pad is too rounded and sloppy but the PS2 D-Pad....it's just right.

The best game ever to have the word "Pokemon" in the title - that, and the fact that it really doesn't have anything to do with the traditional Pokemon games.

It's as good as a game as you're likely to get if you enjoy the Shogun style of strategy games with real time combat.

The tragic story of Vergil and the comic-book way it is told, as well as the ability to play as Vergil himself, make these few short chapters more than worth getting. This content may not be quite as good as the original game, but it’s a must-have for any fan of the Devil May Cry series.

Gyrostarr is pretty, simplistic, and straight-forward.

It's not so much the gameplay that lures you in as it is the story.

Just make sure you've got an itchy trigger finger because Crimson Sea 2 will scratch that itch down to the bone and continue to saw right through to the other side.

Gears 5 is a sequel that delivers on everything I was hoping Gears of War 4 would be. It’s the same tried and true gameplay loop, but with more console power juicing it up and a few new gadgets, weapons and tools to play around with. The open world stuff is sort of boring, but it’s at least nice to look at, and the co-op experience being so well integrated makes up for it (minus the dreadful, illegible UI). There’s much more ambition and creativity in its storytelling and more competent writing from a mechanical standpoint. Combined with a clean, user-friendly multiplayer suite that even finds time to add brand new ways to play, Gears 5 is a standout even among its own series. It’s rough around the edges, but in a good way.

It will appeal to "Diablo" and "Zelda" fans alike. It's pace is well-balanced and the action-oriented nature of the gameplay will ensure that it appeals to a wide audience.

Telltale fans will get exactly what they came for, but newcomers might be surprised that point-and-click games even exist anymore.

Though there is a decent amount of content in the game's adventure mode, there isn't much to do afterward.

Don't lose your patience with this game, otherwise you'll be missing out on some good, old-fashioned, nerd-approved fun.

You don't have to be a diehard Metroid fan to dig the onscreen action either, but being one will certainly help you recognize all of the little flourishes that only true Samus sympathizers will appreciate.

The campaign is meaty, plus there are co-op missions, score challenges, and plenty of collectables.

The platforming is absolutely satisfying, but the simplified combat scheme and occasional glitches will leave you wanting for more. Challenge mode and unlockable Ezio skin (via UPlay) extend replay value ever-so-slightly.

It is the very first 3D Spider-Man game on a handheld system and it looks amazing. It looks even better on the PSP due to the small screen. Gone is the ape-like out of disproportionate Spider-Man from the console game sequel and in it's place is that high gloss crisp well put together model from the original.

Fortunately the interface is not only simple to use but is very powerful. It never gets in the way and is always ready for you to access.

At times moves at speeds that will have you saying “Wow” and delivers a great game.

It retains all the action, polish, and fun factor that makes the series wildly popular with a wide range of gamers. However, the game gains little and loses much on the small screen. As much fun as it is to play, it's going to be more fun, more attractive, easier to control, and hopefully more online-capable on the Wii U.

Online play has been Battlefield's strongest feature up until now. In this version the single player mode rivals the online mode.

I was absolutely delighted by the trademark TT Games humor and playfulness, and I absolutely intend to spend many hours in the game's free mode playing with my favorite superheroes and looking for Stan Lee in every single stage (he makes several priceless cameos). Several obtuse, tedious, or otherwise frustrating objectives and some level flow issues keep me from giving this an unreserved recommendation, but like the movies on which it's based, Lego Marvel's Avengers is a wild ride that many will come to cherish and want to revisit again and again.

If you're looking for a unique experience on your Wii, or even enjoyed the first Trauma Center, TC:SO is a good bet.

With its cute colorful graphics and simple yet entertaining quests, Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure is one of the few games everyone should play if for nothing else than the sheer fun of it.

Konami succeeds in creeping us out, but due to substantial alterations to the gameplay, you might be more frustrated than freaked by the time you reach one of SH4's four endings.

To fully appreciate The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure, you're going to require a GameCube, three friends and four GBAs. If you have no problem meeting these requirements and you're also a big Zelda fan, then you're in for a treat.

Chronicles of Mystara is at its best with co-operative play, as you'd expect from any side-scrolling beat 'em up. It may not have aged as fine as wine, but nevertheless, it's still enjoyable.

Sure, the multiplayer is interesting and the unlocks might keep some gamers entertained for a while, but it won't be long before playing the same ten tracks on repeat becomes fairly monotonous.

Ghost Master is all about death, and it works. It combines RTS, RPG and action elements and will bring to mind games such as "The Sims" and "Monsters Inc." with a healthy dose of "Scary Movie's" irreverent sense of humor.

Mech, FPS and RTS fans must check this game out.

Only the very best of gamers will be able to complete this game in a day or two so my advice would be to purchase it if this is your style of game. CTSF rings in a New Year full of death and destruction - and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Unfortunately the tweaking seems to have actually diminished the playability slightly and therefore Chaos Bleeds just doesn't have that "control is like butta" feel that the first one had in spades.

Though there's not nearly as much content as the first go-round, there's still an awful lot to love.

Honestly, I love soccer. I played it obsessively in my youth. I watch it when I can. It is my favorite sport by far, so it is with a heavy heart that I would say that a better option for sports fans looking for a visceral experience that is sorta, kind of, somewhat similar to soccer might find solace in NHL 19. That, of course, doesn’t apply to people who just want to play soccer and don’t care much for other sports. That’s okay, because this is definitely a good soccer game. It’s just not as good as it could be. It should be immediately apparent, due to a lack of modes, if this game isn’t for you. For that reason, I might suggest renting the game before jumping in feet first.

Ultimately there’s a ton of content in NBA Live 18 for basketball and NBA nuts. While it doesn’t have something comparable to Madden’s Longshot, making it more accessible and distinct, there’s still a ton here to do and enough variance that different kinds of players will probably find something to latch onto.
